The tool for automatically executing and validating test sets of actions is not native to applications, which causes problems with recognizing interaction elements due to the abundance or, conversely, lack of GUI elements. This work describes the design and development of an internal tool that provides accurate recognition of interaction elements by decorating the input reading mechanisms of the Unity game engine. Previously, there were no solutions for Unity to automate success tests, testing the main flow of a use case, or other approaches for functional testing of applications, except through the mechanisms of the standard unit testing package. However, no matter how good the approach of using unit testing tools is, in order to cover all possible scenarios of actions within the project, you would have to either write your own test module for each of the aspects, or implement a complex universal system on its basis. The article's graceful workaround for the technical limitation of the standard Input class dramatically reduces the time required for the application testing phase. In addition to solving testing problems, such a form of recording user actions in a virtual environment can be used to generate training simulator scenarios, which will help to avoid the routine work of generating training tracks. So, immersion in a virtual biotechnology laboratory of an expert who can correctly pass all phases of the selected analysis (for example, ELISA) is enough to record the checkpoints of such a scenario for teaching students.

The paper explores lexicon derived from the Russian stem morpheme -edin- as markers of the semantics of unity. The author reveals how these lexical units function and codify social categories. The data include legal-political discourse, i.e. state strategies and concepts that codify social processes, including association and disassociation of social actors. Methodologically, the paper draws on lexical semantics, semantic syntax, discourse analysis and social constructionism assumptions. A set of research operations involves defining the list of the lexical units, discovering their syntagmatic relations, describing their semantics in context, as well as disclosing functional resources of this lexical group. Eleven words with the stem morphem -edin- (used 80 times altogether) have been identified. These words are surrounded by their derivatives and other words that carry the semantics of unity, which predetermines promoting the ideas of unity through the texts. The lexemes are used discriminately in different contexts and realize the set of their meanings in a distinctive way. In terms of language system, the words with the stem morpheme -edin- have a neutral or positive axiological status; however, negative semantics can be constructed in context, through the attributes with negative connotations. Structurally different word combinations allow for varying conceptualizations of unity: as a quality that characterizes subjects of activities, and as an object that is regulated by the state. Unity is conceptualized as a characteristic of four various dimensions: materialistic (unity of the country’s infrastructure), spacial (territorial unity), axiological (unity of social values) and temporal (historical and generation continuity).

Introduction. The article is devoted to analyses of the most important Kinds of Phraseologisms, their way of formation and function, and linguistic connection with European language groups. The formation of a holistic meaning based on the semantic shift of the entire component composition of a phraseological unit is a common feature of phraseological unity. The syntactic structure of these phraseological units can have several varieties, among which the phrase is especially typical. Research methods. However, the demotivation of phraseological unity does not affect either its expressiveness or its functional and stylistic affiliation. The meaning of such units, formed on the basis of a rethinking of a variable word combination, has absolute expressiveness, i.e. it is expressive regardless of the context. It exists in connection with the given material composition of the phraseological unit also in the case when that figurative core, which served as the basis for the motivation of phraseological units, gradually weakens and darkens. Consequently, the sound composition of demotivated phraseological units (idioms) is perceived by the speaker as a certain verbal complex, which has a traditionally fixed meaning, expressiveness and functional and stylistic affiliation. Results and discussions. The productive nature of paired phraseological units is confirmed by the presence of a number of productive structural types.

Gameplay programming is vital for video game development and benefits from good tools and techniques. However, techniques are still used in the industry that involves describing how the computer operates. Reactive programming is a way to describe eventful and stateful computer programs declaratively, focusing on what the program should accomplish. This thesis uses the reactive library UniRx with the game engine Unity 5 to create an FPS with reactive techniques, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of these. Object-oriented reactive programming is used to combine reactive objects with Unity’s component-based framework without using wrappers for non-reactive objects. The results include static methods for observable user input, patterns when defining game components with reactive content, and communication between game objects through interface components. It can be concluded that reactive programming for game programming enables the programmer to describe and understand game logic in a declarative manner. However, combining UniRx and Unity 5 led to complex patterns. Suggestion for future work is using reactive programming with game engines that allows to design game objects that are fully reactive.

Non-muscle myosin II is a key player in cell and tissue morphogenesis. The cortical dynamics Myosin as minifilaments in vivo however remain poorly understood. Here, we use SIM-TIRF microscopy in a developing embryo to gain further insights into the mechanisms and structure of bipolar minifilaments assembly. Combining SIM-TIRF and TIRF single-molecule microscopy, we first characterized the structure of minifilaments, specifically size and stoichiometry, at multiple stages in the early embryo. Using high temporal-resolution SIM- TIRF movies, we then characterized a diverse range of behaviors of myosin minifilaments, minifilament split events, alignments of multiple minifilaments over long distances (which we called protostress fibers), partial unbinding events and, surprisingly, events of sequential unbinding and rebinding to the cortex. Using mutants of the myosin motor domain, we tested how these behaviors relied on the myosin motor activity. Our data suggest that the functional unit of myosin assembly may be composed of one or multiple myosin bipolar minifilaments, but also that minifilaments do not fully disassemble upon unbinding and diffusing in the cytoplasm. To test the overall stability of bipolar assemblies, we thus used photoconversion experiments and show that the myosin minifilaments are indeed recycled over long distances and diffusion times in the cytoplasm as minifilamentous units, that do not dissolve upon unbinding. Our work thus sheds light on how myosin minifilaments interact with the cortex, but offers a new perspective on how they assemble, disassemble and are recycled during cell morphogenesis

This research aims to analyze the verbal and non-verbal texts that make up the openings of the units of the High Up English didactic collection. Approved by the National Textbook Plan - PNLD 2015, recommended for high school, organized by the authors Reinildes Dias; Leina Juca and Raquel Faria. For this, the Systemic-Functional Grammar (HALLIDAY, 1994) ; (HALLIDAY and MATTHIESSEN, 2004) is in coherence with the multimodal texts from the perspective of theVisual Design Grammar (KRESS and VAN LEEUWEN, 2000). Based on these authors, it is hoped to find out if the study of the English language in a public school in the city of Pires do Rio - Goiás offers a variety of interpretations through the engravings and gives the students, according to the theme of the unit, reflect and discuss the images and phrases presented on said pages of unit openings. In addition to the multimodal analysis, the verbal that follow the unit openings were analyzed from the METHOD of Interpersonal Metaphor and analysis of the occurrences of the processes by the Ideational Metaphor, through the computer program called WordSmith Tools 7. It is a qualitative and quantitative research (DORNYEI, 2007) that relates theory, context and research questions. For the analysis of the corpus that composes this study, the data were selected, in consonance with the theoretical contribution of Visual Design Linguistic and Systemic- Functional Linguistic.
Annotation:
The main objective of this research was to determine whether functional units (departments) in an industrial organization differed significantly with respect to their experience of the organizational climate. Two approaches to organizational theory were drawn from, namely, the systems and contingency approaches. Both emphasize the importance of the task environment and the need for the organization to adapt to its task environment. Systems theorists, Katz and Kahn (1978), have identified a number of organizational components or subsystems which enable the organization to function efficiently. Each component has a fairly specialized function; each develops a distinctive nucleus of operating procedures and values. Contingency theorists, Lawrence and Lorsch (1967, 1969), stated that different parts of the organization face different environments. Organizations therefore tend to become internally segmented into functional units. Organizational climate was highlighted as the general notion specifying the organizational identity or self-awareness of the organization; however, it may vary within the organization from work group to work group. The total number of 54 white employees in four units: marketing, personnel/public affairs, finance and production, at all levels - general employees, supervisory/foremen, middle management, senior management - completed a measure of their perceptions of the organizational climate of their individual units. The Organizational Climate Index for Profit Organizations developed by De Cock, Bouwen, de Witte and de Visch (1984), was used. The scale requires a forced choice on a scale with a scoring pattern of 4,3,2,1. Total scores on each of the 6 climate scales, grouped into 20 subscales, were obtained for each functional unit. One-way analysis of variance (the Kruskal-Wallis Test) was used for assessing the significance of differences between the four units on the different climate subscales. The results of the study supported the hypothesis that had been formulated. It was concluded that significant differences exist between the functional units marketing, personnel/public affairs, finance and production of the industrial organization concerned, with respect to the climate dimensions. It was concluded that, in order to achieve maximum integration between functional units and their members in an organization, business will need to concern itself with the differences in expression of human behaviour and motivation in units.

The transistor count for todays VLSI technology reaches 40 million transistors on one chip. In order to successfully design a system with such complexity, new computer-aided design (CAD) tools are needed. This dissertation shows approaches for coping with the problem of increasing complexity of VLSI design in three aspects: 1) capturing a higher level of abstraction, 2) using a new target architecture, and 3) using a new optimization technique. The advantage of working at a higher level of abstraction is that the number of objects that designers have to manipulate is reduced so that more complex systems can be delivered in shorter periods of time. The functions that can be used to capture higher levels of abstraction are surveyed and categorized into an is-a hierarchy. A partitioned-bus architecture that consists of complex functional units used to realize complex functions is proposed. The issues of synthesizing the complex functions to the partitioned-bus architecture are addressed. These issues are focused on the functional partitioning problem which is a known NP-complete problem. Algorithms used to optimize several metrics that affect the solution qualities of functional partitioning are presented. The metrics include communication buffer size, register file size, system delay, the number of buses, the number of links, and the number of multiplexers. These metrics are used to form a cost function, which is utilized by the Problem Space Genetic Partitioning algorithm (PSGP) to search for a good solution. Test cases with known optimal solutions are used to evaluate the solution qualities that PSGP can attain under run time and memory space constraints. The experimental results show that PSGP can reach an average about 87% of the optima for two-way partitioning. Another study also shows that PSGP outperforms the widely used Simulated Annealing algorithm.

Modern mobile devices employ SIMD datapaths to exploit small scale data-level parallelism to achieve the performance required to process a continuously growing number of computation intensive applications within a severely energy constrained environment. The introduction of advanced SIMD features expands the applicability of vector ISA extensions from media and signal processing algorithms to general purpose code. Considering the high memory bandwidth demands and the complexity of execution units associated with those features, this dissertation focuses on two main areas of investigation, the efficient handling of parallel memory accesses and the optimization of vector functional units. A key observation, obtained from simulation based analysis on the type and frequency of memory access patterns exhibited by general purpose workloads, is the tendency of consecutive memory references to access the same page. Exploiting this and further observations, Page-Based Memory Access Grouping enables a level one data cache interface to utilize single-ported TLBs and cache banks to achieve performance similar to multi-ported components, while consuming significantly less energy. Page-Based Way Determination extends the proposed scheme with TLB-coupled structures holding way information on recently accessed lines. These structures improve the energy efficiency of the vast majority of memory references by enabling them to bypass tag-arrays and directly target individual cache ways. A vector benchmarking environment - comprised of a flexible ISA extension, a parameterizable simulation framework and a corresponding benchmark suite - is developed and utilized in the second part of this thesis to facilitate investigations into the design aspects and potential performance benefits of advanced SIMD features. Based on it, a set of microarchitecture optimizations is introduced, including techniques to compute hardware interpretable masks for segmented operations, partition scans to allow specific energy - performance trade-offs, re-use existing multiplexers to process predicated and segmented vectors, accelerate scans on incomplete vectors, efficiently handle micro-ops fully comprised of predicated elements, and reference multiple physical registers within individual operands to improve the utilization of the vector register file.

Windows are the least insulated components in the modern buildings envelopes. The energy-efficiency glazing units have been developed and used to reduce the heat loss from windows. As a type of most common glass product, insulating glass units (IGUs) have been widely adopted in the residential and commercial buildings. A type of new design of glazing units, vacuum glazing units (VGUs), has also been developed to further enhance the insulation performance. Research on the structural/durability behaviours of such new insulating glazing units is relatively limited, although the structural behaviours and safety of monolithic or laminated glass panels have been abundantly studied. This thesis intends to fill in this gap by performing thorough assessments on the structural performance of IGUs and VGUs under various environmental actions.

AbstractRibosomes are universally conserved ribonucleoprotein complexes involved in the decoding of the genetic information contained in messenger RNAs into proteins. Accordingly, ribosome biogenesis is a fundamental cellular process required for functional ribosome homeostasis and to preserve satisfactory gene expression capability.Although the ribosome is universally conserved, its biogenesis shows an intriguing degree of variability across the tree of life. These differences also raise yet unresolved questions. Among them are (a) what are, if existing, the remaining ancestral common principles of ribosome biogenesis; (b) what are the molecular impacts of the evolution history and how did they contribute to (re)shape the ribosome biogenesis pathway across the tree of life; (c) what is the extent of functional divergence and/or convergence (functional mimicry), and in the latter case (if existing) what is the molecular basis; (d) considering the universal ribosome conservation, what is the capability of functional plasticity and cellular adaptation of the ribosome biogenesis pathway? In this review, we provide a brief overview of ribosome biogenesis across the tree of life and try to illustrate some potential and/or emerging answers to these unresolved questions.

The intrinsic polarization modes of ring resonators with a non-planar contour are investigated on the basis of the Jones matrix method, taking into account the amplitude and phase anisotropy of resonator mirrors. It is shown by calculation and confirmed by experimental results that there is a certain dependence between the ratios of the mirror parameters and the degree of ellipticity of the resonator's own oscillations. The weighting coefficients for the phase anisotropy of each mirror are determined, at which the ellipticities of the polarization modes tend to unity. At the same time, the difference in the Q-values of the modes tends to zero.

In order to objectively evaluate the aesthetic influence of the layout of different functional elements on mobile phone client interface of shopping websites, five aesthetic indexes were extracted and quantified including balance, sequence, unity, simplicity and density. The analytic hierarchy process, questionnaire method and user interview were introduced to calculate the weight of each index in different functional elements, and a synthetic aesthetic evaluation method of layout design for different functional elements was proposed. Taking the home page interface of four popular Chinese online shopping apps as an example, this paper verifies the objectivity and accuracy of the method for measuring the impact of different functional elements layout on interface beauty, and reflects the influence of each index on the aesthetic of the whole interface, which will be of instructive significance for future design.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to achieve a better understanding of the Thermoeconomic Theory of System Optimization and the Structural Theory of Cost (Valero et al.,1992, 1993), in order to unify and to take advantage of both theories. As the Thermoeconomic Functional Analysis (Frangopoulos, 1987, von Spakovsky, 1986), the methodology introduced in this paper, establishes that, each unit of the system has a purpose, i.e., a product to obtain, a function. For example, the function of a gas turbine is the work obtained when expanding the gases. This methodology is a general development of the Fuel-Product representation (Torres, 1991), based on the Structural Theory of Thermoeconomics. It gives a systematic and easy way to get a functional diagram from the physical scheme. This diagram represents the units, and the relations among themselves and the environment. Each unit uses a set of functions, or resources, from the environment or other units to obtain its function or product. Using as starting point the functional diagram, it is shown that the Structural Theory and the Thermoeconomic Functional Analysis are equivalent methods and get the same costs result values. Finally, the productive structure (causal diagram) is presented as the key structure to understand the formation of each product and then, to interrelate the whole structure. So, it could be used as a criterion to system disagregation, to obtain more accurate costs.

The MPC Omega and Theta models for creep deformation and life prediction have become popular in recent years. Both models offer better prediction than classical constitutive models such as Norton Power law, Bailey-Norton law, and Norton-Soderberg law to name a few. The Omega model uses a strain hardening approach and requires two material constants for creep deformation and life prediction. An analytical solution to the constants are available and it is easy to manipulate and implement numerically. However, the analytical damage of the Omega model predicts an unrealistic linear damage evolution. The Theta model uses a time-hardening approach, and requires four constant that are a function of stress and temperature. For materials under isothermal conditions, with tertiary creep dominant deformation, the Theta model constants can be determined using only two constants. Life prediction using the Theta and Omega models depends on the final creep strain. The final creep strain observed in an experiment is stochastic; dependent on the material, testing conditions, and operator. The statistics of final creep strain must be investigated before the Theta or Omega models can be applied. In literature, some authors add a nonlinear damage variable to the Theta model; however, critical damage at rupture is not unity violating the assumptions of continuum damage mechanics. There is a superior Sin-hyperbolic continuum damage model available in the literature that can be used to overcome these problems. It is hypothesized that a functional relationships exist between the three models and these relationships can be exploited to achieve more accurate and easy to implement creep deformation and life predictions. In this study, the relationships between the constants of MPC Omega, Theta, and a Sin-hyperbolic CDM models are determined analytically. The sin-hyperbolic model incorporates a continuum damage variable in the creep strain rate equation. The damage function exhibits a more realistic elliptical path and is constructed such that damage is always unity at rupture. This function facilitates conversion of one models’ constants to the constants of the other two. The relationships between the constants are identified, while maintaining dimensional homogeneity. Using the derived relationships, the three models can be easily compared and the disadvantages of each respective model can be avoided. Experimental data at four different configurations of stress (6.3 to 36.5 ksi) and temperature (1200 to 1800°F) (sixteen data sets) for Hastelloy X is used to compare the models. Creep rupture data at seven temperature levels (600 to 1000°C) and a wide stress range (5 to 500 MPa) is used to analyze life prediction. The constants for each model are determined. Using one models’ constants and the derived relationships; the predictions of the other two models are generated. It is observed that the relationship generated curves agree with experimental data. Finally, it is demonstrated that using the derived relationships, the most useful aspects of each model can combined. An elliptical damage evolution curve is obtained for the Omega model. The final creep strain rate dependency problem of the Theta model can be avoided. It is observed that the Sinh model becomes more flexible and easy to implement.

The parametric level set method is an extension of the conventional level set methods for topology optimization. By parameterizing the level set function, conventional levels let methods can be easily coupled with mathematical programming to achieve better numerical robustness and computational efficiency. Furthermore, the parametric level set scheme not only can inherit the original advantages of the conventional level set methods, such as clear boundary representation and high topological changes handling flexibility but also can alleviate some un-preferred features from the conventional level set methods, such as needing re-initialization. However, in the RBF-based parametric level set method, it was difficult to determine the range of the design variables. Moreover, with the mathematically driven optimization process, the level set function often results in significant fluctuations during the optimization process. This brings difficulties in both numerical stability control and material property interpolation. In this paper, an RBF partition of unity collocation method is implemented to create a new type of kernel function termed as the Cardinal Basis Function (CBF), which employed as the kernel function to parameterize the level set function. The advantage of using the CBF is that the range of the design variable, which was the weight factor in conventional RBF, can be explicitly specified. Additionally, a distance regularization energy functional is introduced to maintain a desired distance regularized level set function evolution. With this desired distance regularization feature, the level set evolution is stabilized against significant fluctuations. Besides, the material property interpolation from the level set function to the finite element model can be more accurate.

We assessed rangeland health at 12 locations distributed across Theodore Roosevelt National Monument (THRO) in June 2022. Assessments were conducted using version 5 of Interpreting Indicators of Rangeland Health (IIRH), a qualitative protocol designed to assess departures from reference condition for three rangeland attributes: Soil and Site Stability, Hydrologic Function, and Biotic Integrity. In this report, we review assessment locations and further discuss locations with at least one IIRH attribute rated as a moderate or greater departure from reference, considering them ?ecologically compromised? for the purposes of this report; two locations in the North Unit, three locations in the South Unit, and three locations in the Elkhorn Ranch Unit were considered ecologically compromised. Compromised assessment locations in the North Unit departed significantly from reference condition in all three attributes while compromised assessment locations in the South Unit and Elkhorn Ranch Unit departed significantly from reference condition in Hydrologic Function and Biotic Integrity. Across all assessment locations, departure from reference condition was most consistent for Biotic Integrity and Hydrologic Function, primarily due to the presence of introduced grasses. IIRH is a point-in-time assessment protocol and findings do not communicate trends, positive or negative; thus, managers should seek out other pertinent information (e.g., management history) to contextualize the findings of this report before changing management practices.

In two previous investigations that are documented in this IAEA report series, we examined the effects of non-Gaussian, non-symmetric probability density functions (PDFs) on the outcomes of data evaluations. Most of this earlier work involved considering just two independent input data values and their respective uncertainties. They were used to generate one evaluated data point. The input data are referred to, respectively, as the mean value and standard deviation pair (y0,s0) for a prior PDF p0(y) and a second mean value and standard deviation pair (ye,se) for a likelihood PDF pe(y). Conceptually, these input data could be viewed as resulting from theory (subscript “0”) and experiment (subscript “e”). In accordance with Bayes Theorem, the evaluated mean value and standard deviation pair (ysol, ssol) corresponds to the posterior PDF p(y) which is related to p0(y) and pe(y) by p(y) = Cp0(y)pe(y). The prior and likelihood PDFs are both assumed to be normalized so that they integrate to unity for all y ≥ 0. Negative values of y are viewed as non-physical so they are not permitted. The product function p0(y)pe(y) is not normalized, so a positive multiplicative constant C is required to normalize p(y). In the earlier work, both normal (Gaussian) and lognormal functions were considered for the prior PDF. The likelihood functions were all taken to be Gaussians. Gaussians are symmetric, with zero skewness, and they always possess a fixed kurtosis of 3. Lognormal functions are inherently skewed, with widely varying values of skewness and kurtosis that depend on the function parameters. In order to explore the effects of kurtosis, distinct from skewness, the present work constrains the likelihood function to be Gaussian, and it considers three distinct, inherently symmetric prior PDF types: Gaussian (kurtosis = 3), Continuous Uniform (kurtosis = 1.8), and Laplace (kurtosis = 6). A product of two Gaussians produces a Gaussian even if ye ≠ y0. The product of a Gaussian PDF and a Uniform PDF, or a Laplace PDF, yields a symmetric PDF with zero skewness only when ye = y0. A pure test of the effect of kurtosis on an evaluation is provided by considering combinations of s0 and se with ye = y0. The present work also investigates the extent to which p(y) exhibits skewness when ye ≠ y0, again by considering various values for s0 and se. The Bayesian results from numerous numerical examples have been compared with corresponding least-squares solutions in order to arrive at some general conclusions regarding how the evaluated result (ysol, ssol) depends on various combinations of the input data y0, s0, ye, and se as well as on prior-likelihood PDF combinations: Gaussian-Gaussian, Uniform-Gaussian, and Laplace-Gaussian.

This report shows how to apply the calibration-weighting procedures in SAS-callable SUDAAN (Version 11) to a stratified simple random sample drawn from a complete list frame for an establishment survey. The results are calibrated weights produced via raking, raking to a size variable, and pseudo-optimal calibration that potentially reduce and appropriately measure the standard errors of estimated totals. The report then shows how to use these procedures to remove selection bias caused by unit nonresponse under a plausible response model. Although unit nonresponse is usually assumed to be a function of variables with known population or full-sample estimated totals, calibration weighting can often be used when nonresponse is assumed to be a function of a variable known only for unit respondents (i.e., not missing at random). When producing calibrated weights for an establishment survey, one advantage the SUDAAN procedures have over most of their competitors is that their linearization-based variance estimators can capture the impact of finite-population correction.
