La plupart des parcs nationaux situés dans le sud du Québec comportent des vestiges des anciennes activités agricoles, et notamment de nombreuses friches. Afin de connaître la richesse floristique des friches du Parc national de Frontenac (situé à la jonction des Cantons-de-l’Est et de Chaudière-Appalaches) et d’identifier les facteurs régissant leur composition, leur flore a été inventoriée à la fin de l’été 2012 au sein de 165 placettes d’échantillonnage réparties dans 40 parcelles de friches. Des analyses d’espèces indicatrices de l’âge des friches ont été réalisées ainsi que des analyses de redondance. Au total, 209 espèces ont été identifiées, dont seulement 37 étaient d’origine exotique. Cette richesse correspond à plus de la moitié de toutes les espèces recensées pour l’ensemble du parc. Les espèces indicatrices des jeunes friches (< 25 ans) étaient toutes des herbacées exotiques, tandis que celles indicatrices des vieilles friches (≥ 25 ans) étaient surtout des herbacées indigènes. La composition floristique des friches était surtout expliquée par le temps depuis l’arrêt des activités agricoles et le pH du sol. Nous recommandons de favoriser le retour des friches vers la forêt, mais d’en conserver quelques-unes à un stade herbacé pour maintenir la richesse floristique du secteur.

Abstract Resistance to impact fracture and high flexural strength are desirable properties of denture base acrylics. The purpose of this laboratory study was to determine the Izod impact strength, the flexural strength, the flexural modulus, and the yield distance for four premium denture resins. Bar specimens 86 x 11 x 3 mm of Lucitone 199, Fricke Hi-I, ProBase Hot, and Sledgehammer Maxipack were fabricated following the manufacturer's instructions for heat processing. The bars were surface finished using silicon carbide paper to 600 grit. Ten specimens from three lots of each material were made (n=30). Flexural strength, flexural modulus, and yield distance were determined by testing the specimens to failure using a three-point test fixture. Izod impact strength was determined using an Izod tester on un-notched specimens generated from the flexural test (n=60). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc Tukey's test were used for statistical comparison of each property. There were significant differences in the physical properties among the denture acrylics tested. Lucitone 199 demonstrated the highest impact strength, flexural strength, and yield distance (p<0.05). Lucitone 199 with an Izod impact strength of 5.5 ± 1.2 N·m, a flexural strength of 99.5 ± 4.5 MPa, and yield distance of 9.9 ± 0.76 mm exhibited statistically greater results than Fricki Hi-I, ProBase Hot, and Sledgehammer Maxipack. Fricki Hi- I with a yield distance of 7.3 ± 1.1 mm was statically greater than ProBase Hot and Sledgehammer Maxipack. Fricki Hi-I, ProBase Hot, and Sledgehammer Maxipack were statistically similar for the Izod impact strength and flexural strength tests performed. ProBase Hot and Sledgehammer Maxipack yielded statistically similar results for all tests performed. Résumé. Cette thèse aborde un problème préoccupant, celui de l'avenir des espaces industriels de Kinshasa. Jadis ils constituaient des concentrations d'emplois pour cette grande métropole subsaharienne. La faillite des entreprises et le phénomène des friches, éléments consécutifs aux multiples conflits sociopolitiques et économiques postcoloniaux (zaïrianisation, crise économique, pillages, mondialisation…) ainsi que la mauvaise gouvernance urbaine et la mauvaise politique de gestion foncière à Kinshasa ont plongé l'économie de la métropole dans une régression profonde. Les espaces industriels ont été grignotés au profil de l'habitat et des activités informelles. Pour expliquer ce phénomène, nous défendons l'hypothèse selon laquelle les espaces industriels de Kinshasa ont connu dans leurs trajectoires des dynamiques à différents destins (des sites se sont maintenus, se sont reconvertis, en friche, en dynamique urbaine, d'autres sont exploités de manière opportuniste ou en arrêt d'activité industrielle). Abstract. This thesis addresses a worrying problem, that of the future of Kinshasa's industrial spaces. In the past, they were concentrations of employment for this large sub-Saharan metropolis. The bankruptcy of companies and the phenomenon of wastelands, elements following upon the multiple post-colonial socio-political and economic conflicts (Zairianization, economic crisis, looting, globalization...), as well as poor urban governance and the misguided policy of land management in Kinshasa, have plunged the economy of the metropolis into a deep regression. Industrial spaces have been nibbled away in favor of housing and informal activities. To explain this phenomenon, we defend the hypothesis according to which the industrial spaces of Kinshasa have experienced, along their trajectories, a variety of different dynamics (sites that are maintained, that have been reconverted, are disused, in the course of development, under informal or opportunistic occupation, in commercial collapse...).

Ce texte présente le cadre où devrait s'insérer la réflexion des aménagistes chargés de réorganiser l'activité agricole à la périphérie des villes du Québec. Deux lots en friche situés dans la ville de Laval ont été étudiés. Nous avons simulé la mise sur pied d'entreprises agricoles modernes sur ces lots représentatifs des terres en friche du milieu périurbain. Nous avons d'abord estimé un coût d'achat probable pour les lots étudiés puis nous avons évalué les coûts d'aménagement nécessaires pour maximiser la productivité des entreprises agricoles projetées. Considérant les revenus agricoles possibles pour des productions adaptées aux potentiels des lots étudiés nous avons établi les bilans économiques des entreprises projetées. Suite à l'étude de ces deux cas types nous constatons que la conjoncture actuelle ne permet pas une réutilisation agricole spontanée des terres en friche en milieu périurbain ; les hauts coûts d'achat des terres constituant le principal obstacle à la rentabilisation des entreprises agricoles qui voudraient s'y établir.

Créé en 1973, l’établissement public foncier de Grand Est a été un instrument de la maîtrise foncière en extension urbaine pour soutenir la mise en œuvre des politiques d’aménagement. Confronté dès le milieu des années 80 à la problématique des friches industrielles, il a développé une expérience de recyclage foncier aujourd’hui précieuse qui lui permet d’être désormais un outil puissant au service de l’objectif de zéro artificialisation nette. Un regard est ici porté sur deux des axes d’intervention de l’EPFGE : la mobilisation des friches et la reconquête du bâti en milieu rural, regard qui permettra de souligner l’enjeu majeur de l’anticipation pour relever le défi foncier.

Une friche industrielle des années 1980 est étudiée selon une méthodologie archéologique, permettant d’évaluer la faisabilité et la pertinence d’une telle démarche. En employant des méthodologies de relevé simplifiées développées par l’archéologie anglo-saxonne dans la décennie 1960, l’intégralité d’une friche peut être relevée rapidement avec très peu de moyens et une précision acceptable. L’étude archéologique, qui a mené à une restitution 3D du site, a permis de mettre en évidence des éléments inconnus par les sources textuelles, cartographiques, iconographiques et même par l’enquête orale, confirmant l’importance d’une telle approche même sur un site aussi récent. Sont également posées les questions d’une part de la place de la réoccupation après l’abandon dans l’étude, et d’autre part du statut des archives retrouvées sur place.

Between 1233 and 1258, Franciscan friars attempted to establish themselves in the town of Bury St Edmunds, which was jealously guarded by the Benedictine monks of St Edmunds abbey. In the ensuing conflict (which sometimes spilled over into acts of violence), the monks invoked St Edmund as the protector of the abbey. Although the monks eventually managed to eject the friars from the town in 1263, they were forced to grant the friars a friary site just outside Bury. This article examines how the monks deployed the figure of St Edmund in their battle with the friars, while also exploring the friars’ less well-documented responses. By calling on the saints, both sides elevated the clash between new and old religious orders to the heavenly plane, but the popularity of the new saint, Francis, complicated the monks’ efforts and produced a nuanced response from the Benedictines that eventually accommodated the friars.

The vials filled with Fricke solutions were doped with increasing concentrations of Photogem®, used in photodynamic therapy. These vials were then irradiated with low-energy X-rays with doses ranging from 5 to 20 Gy. The conventional Fricke solution was also irradiated with the same doses. The concentration of ferric ions for the Fricke and doped-Fricke irradiated solutions were measured in a spectrophotometer at 220 to 340 nm. The results showed that there was an enhancement in the response of the doped-Fricke solution, which was proportional to the concentration of the photosensitizer. The use of such procedure for studying the radiosensitizing property of photosensitizers based on the production of free radicals is also discussed.

One of the important issues of walking machine active force control is a successful distribution of the body force to the feet to prevent leg slippage. In this paper, a new force distribution method, the Friction Constraint Method (FriCoM), is introduced. The force distribution during the walking of a typical quadruped crawl gait is analyzed by using the FriCoM. Computation results show that the distributed forces of the feet are continuous during the walking. This reflects the change of the force distribution during actual conditions. The comparison with a pseudo-inverse method shows that the FriCoM is more practical. The FriCom also requires less computation time than that by an incremental optimization method. Some problems, such as the singularity in the application of the FriCoM, are discussed. The FriCoM will be used in the active force control of a quadruped robot that is taken as a platform for the research on the study of terrain adaptation.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema der Identitäten der Hauptfigur Andri in Max Frischs Drama „Andorra. Ein Stück in zwölf Bildern.“. Im Zentrum dieser Abhandlung steht die Veranschaulichung der Entfaltung und der Auswirkungen von Andris unterschiedlichen Identitäten, die unter Einfluss der Diskriminierung der Gesellschaft gebildet werden. Bevor man sich der Analyse der Zentralfigur widmet, wird im ersten Teil dieser Arbeit zunächst der Begriff ‚Identität‘ erklärt und mittels unterschiedlicher Aspekte und Sichtweisen, die für den Terminus und für die Hauptfigur konstitutiv wirken, nachvollziehbar gemacht. Die Untersuchung der Hauptfigur im zweiten Teil zeigt, wie die Identität des Einzelnen durch Selbst- und Fremdbestimmung beeinflusst wird. Dabei erfolgt eine Analyse der Einflüsse der Umgebung bzw. des Kollektivs auf Andris Identitätsbildung und von Andri als 20-jähriges Individuum mit seinen Überlegungen und Entscheidungen, die identitätsstiftend wirken.

« Les statistiques données par le ministère de l'Intérieur indiquent que 18 millions de Français entre 1880 et 1980 sont des descendants d'immigrants à la première, deuxième ou troisième génération. Plus du tiers de la population française actuelle est donc d'origine non française ». Si l'on ajoute les étrangers vivant aujourd'hui en France (3,5 à 4 millions de personnes), c'est environ 40 % des habitants de ce pays dont l'histoire ne peut être confondue avec celle de la nation française. Avec les États-Unis et le Canada, la France est le pays industrialisé dont la population doit le plus à l'immigration. Mais aussi surprenant que cela puisse paraître dans un pays où la recherche historique tient la place que l'on sait, le sujet n'a guère intéressé les historiens jusqu'à ces dernières années. Il suffit pour s'en convaincre de consulter le ficher central des thèses, les bibliographies annuelles de l'histoire de France ou les tables décennales des grandes revues d'histoire contemporaine. Les nombreuses « Histoire de France » parues récemment et les manuels scolaires des écoles primaires et secondaires n'accordent pratiquement aucune place à ce thème.
