Der volle Inhalt der QuelleA comparative study of two authors as dissimilar as Pascal and Baudelaire is a daring undertaking, coming up, as it does, against apparently insuperable obstacles. Could one say then that this endeavour is simply a matter of an unwarranted exercise in style or of an appealing yet fragile paradox ? Notwithstanding, in the view of many commentators, it seems that subtle links unite the two literary universes, beyond manifest differences. They present, indeed, real affinities, that are drawn from a common fund of traditionaly Jansenist ideas and develop similar themes centred on the wretchedness and the grandeur of Man, on the importance of the Fall, on the failures which flow from original sin in Man’s search for happiness, justice and truth, on the limits of reason and the desperation of the human condition which the absence of God deprives of meaning. Certainly, these similar basic premises do in no way entail in the two authors identical existential choices, but they unquestionably shed light on their style and their reasoning. If the real life experience of faith and the plenitude of grace illumine Pascal’s writings, the faint outlines and the indisputable undertones of a diffuse hope, beyond sin, revolt and death, emerge from Baudelaire’s work. Without claiming to bring a definitive answer to these delicate questions, the present essay has the modest ambition of rekindling interest in a passionate, yet unsettling encounter between two emblematic writers, whose styles, concerns and centuries render them so distant from, yet so close to each other
Buffa, Cristina. „Ἐλπίς and ἐλπίζω in greek literature, the Septuagint and Philo of Alexandria, and their further usage in selected New Testament passages“. Electronic Thesis or Diss., Strasbourg, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023STRAK004.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThrough the terms ἐλπίς and ἐλπίζω, this thesis addresses the question of hope in the ancient Greek world up to the New Testament. In the first part, the study of the use of ἐλπίς and ἐλπίζω in Classical Greek literature, Hellenistic papyri and inscriptions conducted under a double approach combining chronology and literary genre reveals their vast range of meanings. Hope is often profane, but sometimes associated with the divine. The second part shows how the Septuagint, while maintaining a certain continuity with Greek literature, nevertheless represents a turning point. It introduces and develops a vocabulary of hope closely linked to the divine, notably through typical and innovative expressions. The use of these formulas in later Greek literature gives a measure of the impact of the Septuagint. Philo of Alexandria adopts certain constructions from the Septuagint, but also resorts to the language of hope that is consistent with Greek literature, as well as his own particular phrasing. A brief final incursion into New Testament writings reveals some cases of continued usage in the Pauline and Lukan corpus
Faguer, Nicolas. „« Un constant approfondissement du cœur ». L’unité de l’œuvre de Péguy selon Hans Urs von Balthasar“. Thesis, Paris 4, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA040009.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe theme of the present dissertation is the unity of the work of Charles Péguy in the interpretation of Hans Urs von Balthasar. Balthasar is the first commentator who has attempted to re-read the whole trajectory of Péguy’s life and work in light of the brief self-portrait that the poet offers us in Un nouveau théologien. M. Fernand Laudet. “It was,” Péguy writes there, “a constant deepening of our heart . . . that lead us to discover the path of Christendom.” Meditating on the various meanings of the word “heart” in the poet’s thought, Balthasar is able to show his work rising into an organic edifice with the Mysteries as its keystone. He shows how not only Péguy’s repudiation of an Augustinian Christianity and his resolute embrace of the heart of socialism, but his eventual return to Catholicism make sense only in light of what were from the very beginning his heart’s deepest intentions. But Péguy’s rediscovery of faith meant also the entry into a new deepening of the heart: the contemplation of the mystery of the Christian heart and at last of the Father’s heart. This dissertation seeks to present Balthasar’s original reading of Péguy’s trajectory and, at the same time, to show its fecundity, which is demonstrated by, among other things, its capacity to integrate the major readings of Péguy produced both before and after Balthasar’s own work on the poet
Kuang, Quan. „Une ontologie de la liberté dans l'œuvre de Paul Ricoeur“. Thesis, Strasbourg, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016STRAK010/document.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOne of the persistent concerns of Paul Ricœur’s philosophy is to reflect upon the human being as being free. At the anthropological level, Ricœur always considers freedom within concrete human condition, in which nature, body, others and society are all involved. One’s freedom becomes real, affirming and powerful only when such condition is recognized. At the ontological level, it is only as a free being that one has the privileged access to the understanding of being in general. Human as free being reveals that being should not be understood as objectivity, but as an affirming act. Finally, at the methodological level, Ricœur’s elaboration of phenomenological hermeneutics constitutes an essential element of his ontology of freedom. From his methodological development, it can be seen that the thinking philosopher himself, as a free being, is also engaged in his inquiry. In this regard, Ricœur’s philosophy as such becomes an attestation of free being, especially in his confrontation with the enigma of evil
