Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIs a semiotics of enunciation conceivable and operational? Is the concept of enunciation (as it is posed in semiotic theory) an operational concept or simply a working hypothesis? Such is the - somewhat provocative - question that this work seeks to explore, by assuming an affirmative response on the methodological plane. In other words, this thesis seeks to (re)situate the question of enunciation within the frame of discourse analysis, or more generally, media analysis. This frame of investigation allows us to identify the enunciative arrangements and modes at work in the discourses of written (feminine) press. The frame of research was thus constructed (part 1: a problem under construction) at the intersection of two major theoretical and "practical" questions, the general question of enunciation and the question of use. Within the semiotic concept of enunciative praxis, the guiding thread of this theoretical syntagm - what d. Bertrand calls the impersonal aspect of enunciation ; (l'impersonnel de l'énonciation), passing through linguistic (Benveniste), semiotic, pragmatic, and Bakhtinian approaches to enunciation - seemed to pose the problem in terms of a "mise en scènes, scenography, enunciative arrangements", enunciative figures, or even discursive positions ; which one can designate as commonplaces of (uttered) enunciation. The convergence of these different perspectives leads us to propose an extensive conception of enunciation, correlative to a socio-semiotic approach to discourse. Some practical analyses (case studies), based on a corpus of texts taken from feminine magazines, validates the theoretical and epistemological invitation toward the communicational and socio-semiotic dimensions (part 2 : for a socio-semiotic approach to discourse in the feminine press) within the perspective of a semiotics of enunciation, focused on praxis, that is, on a theory of discourse in the act, it was interesting to analyze how these discourses, by using these + commonplaces; of enunciation, construct a discursive identity. This study, as a form of scientific praxis or bricolage; (in Levi-Strauss' sense), finishes by setting into place several (semiotic) elements which can outline a general frame of research for an approach to written press

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe TV news are mainly made from the speeches of sources outside the production sphere. These speeches are collected and integrated into the journalists' speeches and the media system. Therefore, one of the features of the TV news is to be highly polyphonic and heterogeneous, developing from the interconnection and multiplication of voices materialized by the reported speeches and interviews. This multiplication of voices is constrained by the discursive genre of TV news. This interdisciplinary study consists of two levels: a micro level (enunciative) and a macro level (discursive and interactional), placing one within the enunciation and the discourse analysis framework accordingly. The setting produced around the speakers and their reported and interviewed speeches is examined. This works looks into the different strategies used by the TV news to make the other talk. Then, it shows how the information speech is built and how journalists use the speeches of the sources to argue, tell or even model their own speeches, in order to provide adequate information, seriousness, attraction or entertainment. This allows one to analyze the building of the media identity, the enunciative and interactional roles of the speakers, civilians, politicians or experts, depending on their social identity. In other words, this thesis brings up questions about the identity building of external speakers, thus due to the influence of the enunciative and interactional roles of the speaking subjects, in that kind of speech. The research is based on a corpus of recorded evening news from french TV channels

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study examines polyphonic enunciation in online writings, focusing on that which arises from and is induced by interactions on YouTube during the Amazon rainforest wildfires. After presenting the context and the concepts and theories related to polyphony, it proposes a methodological framework for analyzing polyphony that first captures the role of techno-semiotic, socio-economic, and psychosociological aspects of YouTube in polyphony, and then interrogates this polyphony at the level of other media actors mentioned from YouTube. This allows us to identify consistencies and changes in polyphonic configurations during our observation period and to show how these polyphonic configurations during the Amazon rainforest wildfires could be influenced by exogenous contextual variables. We also observe power dynamics when this polyphony is used as a strategy by various media actors involved in the social controversy surrounding the Amazon rainforest wildfires. This study complements previous research on editorial enunciation in screen writings by considering polyphony at both the network actors’ level and the argumentation level

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study falls in the theoretical framework of enunciation involving sociolinguistic and communicative aspects. It is a crossover field of linguistics with that of information science, sociology and anthropology. It focuses on media communication, particularly the issue of responsibility in news writing. The analysis relates more specifically to the facts of language (reported speech) in news writing and the impact it can have on the position of the reporting person. This is an analysis of linguistic forms of subjectivity in journalistic texts, the aim being to identify to what extent the form of reported speech shapes the point of view of the journalist utterer. The task is about distinguishing, through texts that can be said to be objective journalistic pieces of writing that meet the requirements of ethics, the mechanisms by which viewpoints are expressed and leading to subjective points of views. Transversally, the analysis provides answers to two key questions: what does subjective mean? How is this concept applied in reported speech with respect to miscellaneous events related in Senegalese daily newspapers? Given its sociolinguistic, communicative and interactional dimensions, the analysis focuses on three main areas: the speaking subject (research on evaluative, axiological and socio-emotional traces of its presence), the content (morphosyntactic and semantic exploration) and the media communication contract (media production device)

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur research objective is to shed light on the variability of the media coverage of political events in Egypt in 2011 and 2013. To this end, we study two discursive moments identified in five national dailies of the French press (Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, La Croix, L'Humanité) and a sample of the Arabic-speaking (Al-Ahram, Al-Masry Al-Youm) and French-speaking (Al-Ahram Hebdo) Egyptian press. Our thesis focuses on the construction of the social meaning of events through journalistic discourse, taking into account the territories of diffusion and representations of force in both societies. We aim to identify discursive strategies based on a semiolinguistic analysis of the discourse, giving full importance to the scripto-visual enunciation of the press. Considering that the headlines, titles and editorials are three privileged textual "zones" to observe these strategies and the ideological and political orientation specific to each media organization, we seek to show that the media narrative and the designation of political actors and events are informed by the influence of socio-political contexts and illustrate the positions taken by the newspapers. We note a differentiated treatment of the two discursive moments (quantitative imbalance between 2011 and 2013, approval of the 2011 popular uprising, which is mythified, but perplexity in 2013), and also very marked contrasts between the actors put forward as well as their representatives according to the newspapers

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis is set within the context of the Centre de recherches Image-Texte- Langage de l'universite de Bourgogne. It doesn't deal exclusively in linguistics. The linguistic study of modality is often based on the written text: in his study of modality and mass media, the author has chosen to take into consideration other media along with sociological, semiologica1 and pedagogical elements. The basic question is to know whether the occurrence of modality is independent of media or whether each different media is likely to affect the occurrence of modality. In the first section, the notions of medium, media and multimedia are defined by the author. The mechanical approach to communication and McLuhan’s theory of technological determinism are considered but eventually discarded. It is fitting to take into account the subjectivity and the interpersonal relations inherent to media exchanges. This raises the issue of interactivity. In the second section, the author defines the concept of modality using A. Culioli's theorie des operations enonciatives. Modality is the result of subjective mental processes that are dependent on the situation of utterance (as defined by media), but, above all, on the personal selections of the utterer (in the presence, real or not, of the co-utterer). The author suggests a circular representation of intersubjective exchanges. He highlights the complexity of the modal system in english, as characterized by internal modal forms as opposed to external (and less subjective) forms. In the third section, the author studies a corpus of authentic modal utterances drawn from a wide range of media (traditional systems of communication, mass media, multimedia systems). This study attempts to demonstrate that means of communication do not fundamentally determine the modal selections of the utterer

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis analysis of linguistic aspects of text coherence turns on a chapter of a french geometry school book intended for a class of 4e. In the first part we will study the different kinds of texture in that chapter. In the second we will see how the logical pattern of proof definites units and explains the particular sort of inference in some texts. The whole of the texts especially allows study the text references. We'll try to show the importance of the difference between endophoric and exophoric references. Then we'll throw the role of the stabilized knowledges by the subject (geometry) into relief, relating to the semantic relations between the referents. An abstract figure squarring with a particular sentence of each text seems to be theme that configures that one. The comparaison with texts that are not mathematical ones gives the oppotunity to see how the cognitive context has an influence on the linguistic organization just as the text aims to modify the context

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe title of this thesis shows that its theoretical is "psychosystematic enunciation". It deals with the verb and especially the verbal tenses such as "imparfait", "passe simple" and passe compose". The data is taken from an african novel entitled les soleils des independances written by a. Kourouma. The main objects of this work, on the one hand are to show how this theory gives a clear analysis of grammatical and linguistic facts and to contribute to the almost inexistant grammatical study of african literature written in french on the other hand. This research is composed of three parts. The first one (from ch. 1 to 3), which is a sort of theoretical preliminary is in fact a critical synthesis about the various approaches made in the field of the verbal tenses in french nowadays. I also make an account of the way linguistic tense is represented in relation to the verb in french. The second part (from ch. 4 to 6) which is a practical on deals with the expressve theory of language. In it we tried to explain according to the psychosystematic views, the various uses of verbal tenses through our data. The third and last part deals with the theoretical repercussions (ch. 7)

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleEventhough the discussions of our corpus are not spontaneous, they do reflect our familiar oral language. This leads us to the comparison of the grammar standards of the afore mentioned language with those of the traditional grammar, and this to deduce the frequency of the use of each type of questions. We will then study the existing relationship between the question and its answer and we will try to classify them. This leads us to note the fact that each utterance provokes a reaction, that the answer is synthaxically and semantically conditioned by the question and that the attempts of influencing the continuation of the exchange by using orientaled or alternative questions fail whenever the addressee decide so. Only in the case of a rhetoric question the addressee is obliged to take in charge the confirmation of the idea which is conveyed by the question. Furtherwore we observe that the two protagonists of the exchange are not equal and that the one who asks the question often takes a superior position to the addressee, but they continue to respect the others right of speech. Each speaker has a particular method of thought, interpretation and expression : he can lie, say the truth, cooperate, refuse the discussion, etc. . . As long as he wants to. One should note that the role played by one of the two protagonist of the exchange is certainly influenced by his personal, social and professional situation, and also by the one of the other protagonist. Finally, one should not forget that the discussions of the corpus are worked and used in order to create a link with the public and this with the intention of contributing to the success of the cinematographic or theatrical work

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work consists in studying the linguistic defreezing phenomenon. We establish three typologies of studying cases chosen from the French satirical weekly newspaper "Le Canard enchaîné". The typologies are made in three parts. The first typology is of structuralism, the second one consists in classifying the defreezing cases by transformations, the last one is a typology of three primary functions of predication. In doing so, we propose different linguistic approaches in treating the problematical defreezing phenomenon, which causes problems in teaching, comprehension and computational linguistic treatment in French

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study is based on the utterer-centered approach developped by a. Culioli. Its aim is to show that an utterance in the passive voice is not the result of a mechanical transformation from a corresponding active base, nor a paraphrastic reformulation with the same propositional content. An operation on the orientation of the predicative relation is performed by the utterer. A passive utterance is derived from an ordered primitive relationship. Various occurences of the diathesis can then be accounted for thanks to the schema thus obtained : markets such as be ven, have ven, nominalizations, "notional" passives. After an examination of the literature devoted to the passive, and a brief survey of historic change, an exploratory study of various problems is then made in order to tackle the semantic classes verbs belong to, aspectual forms, be, have and get as well as the notion of agentivity and agent and the question of transitiv ity. The restrictions on the production of utterances in the passive voice, and the factors favouring their construction are also examined

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleA study of the relevance of utterances, given their heterogeneity, it will be shown here that : - informativity depends on the building of a representation of what's possible. And that presupposition is what's common to all the possibilities considered. - while the argumentativity of an utterance depends on the inequality of the possibilities considered (scalarisation), its orientation depends on the choice of the possibilities to be compared and its force on the degree of inequality. - descriptivity of nouns and metphors depends on how possible it is that what is the case would not be the case. - directive and commissive utterances can be distinguished one from another through the different representations of what is possible they introduce. The representation of what is possible is then found to be inseparable from a representation of the addresse and of the speech situation. Hence, the notion of "scope of an utterance", which has to replace in semantics the notion of meaning, is defined by thessimultaneous representations of reality, of what is possible

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work is the result of a research based on the analysis of a corpus comprising various linguistic exchanges in Russian and French oral speech, and has the exclamative enunciation as a subject. In our research we propose an approach based on the deep coenunciative value of the exclamative enunciation. Considering the prosodic and morphosyntactical parameters of the exclamation and the enunciative value of this modality, we differentiate five basic models of exclamations: APPRECIATIVE EXCLAMATION, INTERROGATIVE EXCLAMATION, INTERJECTIVE EXCLAMATION, EPISTEMIC EXCLAMATION and QUALIFICATIVE EXCLAMATION. Examining the position of the exclamation in relation to the trigger element, we distinguish immediate exclamation and posterior exclamation. Our analysis shows a fundamental difference in the coenunciative attitude and strategies in French and in Russian, and demonstrates that communication in French requires a very active position of the listener who is always ready to become a speaker and give his appreciation of the situation - the attitude translated by intonational parameters. Communication in Russian is characterized by respect of the right of the speaker to speak and by a discreet position of the listener who, during the emission of the exclamation, supports the coenunciation using essentially morphosyntactical resources

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research investigates the linguistic means of locating relative to a subject in injunctive utterances. A survey of the ways in which the concept of subject is defined in various linguistic theories shows that the presence of a subject in injunctive utterances is mostly considered as a redundant marker with regard to the standard pattern. Within the framework of the Theory of Enunciative and Predicative Operations, markers in the utterances are analysed as indications of the location relative to subjective parameters. The analysis of authentic utterances is carried out with a view defining the construction of the initial locator, both in cases where the subject argument slot is filled and in cases where it is empty. It can be argued that the injunction mode does not, as such, construe a validated occurrence of the predicative relation, but defines the choice made by the original enunciator S. ̥ of one value (P or P') from within the notional domain. The predicative relation is necessarily located with respect to the dual origin made up of S. ̥ and S1 (enunciator and co-enunciator). S. ̥ and S1 must therefore be considered as two distinct instances. The redefinition of a number of metalinguistic tools suggested in this thesis attempts to open new avenues for the study of injunction

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur work enquires about the relation between enunciation and media. We chose the adaptation as a case study, since it is a semiotic practice that requires transferring the same content from one media to another. Hence, we built a contrastive corpus based on Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and its theatrical adaptation by Virgil Tanase, which we consider to be the most representative for our linguistic approach. In order to adopt a linguistic perspective, we articulate notions and frameworks from the French theory of enunciation, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. Notions from a narratology background are also contributive. The corpus analysis is organized in three main sections. The first one states the equivalence between the adapted story and its adaptation through some semiotic (actantial model and model of narrative sequence) and linguistic parameters (point of view and isotopy) shared by the book and the play. The second part briefly points out the features that enable the story to transfer from one media to another (dialogues, lexical choices). The third and final part focuses on verbal marks (deictic expressions, naming) that encode the media change (from the book to the play) and require the audience to perform some cognitive processing to properly understand the theatrical play. Results of this analysis show the influence of media context on enunciation while relating this kind of context to two linguistic frameworks : an extended enunciation theory, in which the addressee is actively taking part in the meaning production, and a reference theory based on a symmetric relationship between word and object in meaning production

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe description of the semantics of the English modal auxiliary should is problematic on account of the multiplicity of values it may take on and the diversity of the environments in which it may appear. In particular, the use of should in complex utterances is often difficult to interpret with reference to the values of weak obligation and prediction, with which it is routinely associated in independent clauses. In consequence, the use of should in such contexts is regarded by some linguists to be « marginal », devoid of semantic content or even redundant. In this corpus-based study carried out within the theoretical framework of the Theory of Enunciative Operations, the case is made for a unitary treatment of should capable of taking in the Ml range of its uses Emphasis is placed on the way meaning is constructed in context via the interplay of locating operations in four kinds of syntactic environment : content clauses in noun-phrase structures, content clauses functioning as subject in copular verb + adjectif phrase constructions, hypothetical clauses and modalizing matrix clauses. The question of the relationship between shall and should is examined from both a diachronic and a synchronic standpoint and, via the examination of a large number of authentic examples taken from contemporary written English, new light is shed on the nature of the operations underlying the -ED marker. Particular attention is paid throughout to the analysis of features relating to the subjective and inter-subjective dimension of utterances containing should

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur research deals with the various ways of integrating utterances of discourse into narration in contemporary English language texts. Within the framework of A. Culioli's enunciative theory of linguistic operations, we redefine levels of utterances according to the various operations of location that are brought into play and not in terms of predetermined categories. We distinguish different levels : Sit° (the initial situation of enunciation), SitR (the reported situation of enunciation), Sit1 (the situation of assertion), Sit2 (the situation built within the text). Our study then focuses on the various markers of discourse indicating a change in the level of utterance. Markers within the text are considered as evidence of operations of location relative to the subjective parameter (S) and/or the spatio-temporal parameter (T). Discussing examples drawn from both literary and journalistic texts, we first analyse the most explicit markers, i. E. The frontiers of the reported utterance (speech verbs, quotation marks, markers of subordination), then the markers within the utterance itself (markers of aspect, modality, deixis, person and tense, and markers of heterogeneousness). We show that each one of those markers needs to be carefully analysed, whether considered as real markers of discourse (both external and internal to the reported utterance) or as mere pointers paving the way for the change in the level of utterance ("indices de frayage"). Finally, in a comparative analysis of three texts from our corpus, we will suggest an original representation of the various discourse markers in their context

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work aims at studying poetics in the theoretical writings of some contemporary artists. Poetics is to be understood as defined by Henri Meschonnic, who assigns a decisive function to subjectivation in language. This work examines the place and question of enunciation in the writings of Marguerite Duras, Dan Graham and Yvonne Rainer, when dealing with their artistic practices. These three artists write about their artistic processes, while linking several of them together. For each of them, their theoretical views of their practices question their very artistic processes and their position as authors. Starting from the study of enunciation in these texts, the purpose is to conceptualize the notion of inter-artisticity which is considered, on the one hand, as the place in their discourses where the different practices interconnect and, on the other hand, as what the theoretical views reveal about a given artistic practice. This notion falls within the context of the relationship among the various arts, and that of the works and theoretical writings of the writers studied here. Through some of Foucault's and Meschonnic's writings, we have analyzed how a thought about politics can include this notion of inter-artisticity. In this way, we have identified the various positions of the place and function of the artistic discourse in the social and political context in which it appears. Henri Meschonnic and Michel Foucault are confronted in order to specify the status of politics in language, through an analysis of enunciation

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAs a message and a production of meaning, the film is a fragment of experience. The transposition of the linguistic theory of the énonciation (act of stating) into the cinematographic field requires to think initially about the nature of the signs which compose the film and to validate the possibility of studying them as meaning units, that is attractive to compare with those of the language. However, it remains an irremediable difference between the units of the language, integrating a general system, limited in number and open for some to a working of deictic designation, and the units of the cinema, particular, numberless and iconic. Besides the possibility of a semiological categorization of some processes recognized as enunciative ones, this study intends to take advantage of this calling into question of the idea itself of énonciation in the cinema to question the epistemological fundaments of this concept. Between a deictic approach and a métadiscursives interpretation, it is advisable to suggest a hermeneutics way and to let the spectator reinvest his fundamental position of addressee without whom the film is nothing but virtual. It is in this condition that the prospect of a stylistic and aesthetic widening emerges, or the recognition of an individual artistic act. The work of Jean-Pierre Jeunet is ideally suitable for this exercise, because it instrumentalizes all the cinematographic means, because it uses recurring and coherent themes and because, oscillating between purification and sophistication, it aims at a certain sacrality of the actual

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe principal questions of the thesis regard the parameters of the discursive production of the headlines as well as the relations between the headlines and the articles of the newspaper and the historical event. The assumptions are: - the accumulation of the journalist's experience defines the production of the headlines, - the relation between the article and the headlines are not direct but influenced by the relevant factors of the media market and - the headline is the particular way to handle the historical event. The research contains 3 tasks: it determines the psycho-sociohistorlcal appearance of the journalistic data; it detects the discursive data relating to the production of headline; it locates the productive factors which legitimate the intervention at the level of persuasion. The validity of the assumptions overrules the behaviorism data as regards the headline production and it proves that the latter is a complex process

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study investigates the various factors that contribute to the construction of conversational English (discourse units, intonation, etc. ) by focusing on initial connectives (and, but, because, so, well, yes, no, oh, etc. ). These connectives stand at the crossroad of various linguistic problems (turn-taking, formulation attempts, discourse marking). Taking into account the various constituents of intonation (pitch, intensity, duration) and their iconic as well as conventional values enabled us to highlight discourse values vs intersubjective values and explore concepts such as colocution and co-enunciation. .

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur study focuses on the use of literary plurilingualism. We want to understand why and how writers insert "foreigner" in their texts and we question how plurilingualism is expressed, through the choice of languages, a reflexion on identity and otherness. Our anchor is the Revolution of 1974 and we want to know how the political and social context could influence the novels that constitute our corpus. The exiled writers who have participated directly or indirectly in the colonial war are, in most cases, multilingual writers. We have therefore decided to analyze themes regarding contemporary dictatorship, in other words, we will be looking into exile, emigration and the colonial war. This way, we approach the question of verisimilitude and the “reality effect”. In the first part of our study, we focus on plurilingualism in society and the literary text. We also problematize the notion of literary plurilingualism. In our second part, we analyze the major thematic and structural characteristics of the plurilingualistic novels of our corpus. We take into account the historical and social context, the presence of autobiographical elements and the relationship between history and memory. The third part includes the linguistic and enunciative analysis of different occurrences of plurilingualism in our corpus. We will study some borrowing and interferences in the speeches of narrators and analyze bilingual dialogues of characters. We also address the issue of plurality of voices in plurilingualism. Our study seeks to understand how literature is dependent and beneficiary of the plurality of languages

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleRecourse to established, illustrative and idiomatic expressions is a standard feature of journalistic discourse on television. The use of phrasemes is text-sort specific and provides added thematic reference to the relevant topic under discussion. In television journalism, the bilingual, French-German public affairs program Arte-Info is exceptional due to a particular feature of its journalistic format. Individual images are accompanied by to sound and, above all, linguistic tracks. Given this bilingual quality, variuos issues related to the program's inter-lingual format arise (translation and interpreting procedure, source and target language, orientation toward two linguistic communities, etc. ). What effects do these factors have on the production of the linguistic discourse? This study has been organized according to three parameters of analysis: parameter one concerns the specifics of the various sorts of texts; parameter two is addressed to the framing context of the entire discourse; the third parameter deals with the specifics of thematic reference

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBased on claudine fabre's previous work in the field of school rough copies, this thesis endeavours to study this very same subject with a focus on the production of fictional stories by schoolchildren attending the final year of elementary school and the first year of secondary school. Fictional stories belong to a + sub-genre ; in the sense used by bakhtine and are relevant to the linguistics of discourse. As for the rough copies, the assumption is made that there exist several types of them, whose differences relate to the varied scholastic situations, hence the creation of three distinct subcorpus. By comparing the several versions of rough copies according to the methodology of genetic critic normally used with writer manuscripts, we mean to examine the way schoolchildren make enunciation choices when building a fictional discourse. The notion of + choice ; will be discussed, to which one should not give too conscious or intentional a meaning. We will rather make a point in detecting what - either standard or stereotyped superimposed school interferences - is specifically revealed by schoolchildren fiction writing. Thus, the work of + putting into words ; - an expression borrowed from f. Francois - is considered from different linguistic categories. Enunciation theories remain a major reference, but the linguistic categories which are attached to it should not make up a priori analysis criteria. The modifications found out in the rough copies focus the analysis towards variations in the expression of determination, the use of specific markers of causality as operators of explicit consistency, and the modality carried by the subjective verbs. As a whole, on the basis of a description whose tools and concepts have been elaborated all along the analysis, this thesis intends to cast a light of the functioning of non-legitimate writings whose very individuality is unrecognized. What emerges from that is the paradoxical acknowledgement that rewriting encourages the underlying resort to stereotypes (taken in a broad meaning), and at the same time, the extreme ceativity which these writings give to read with their unpredictable plays of words

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn Portuguese literature, many works contain semiographical elements which contribute to the creation of the former by a motion of construction/deconstruction, taking the text to a dimension beyond that strictly verbal. This study focuses on this category of texts called 'fragmental writing'. Considering this mode of construction, the problem is as follows: in which way is meaning construed from the onomasiological and semasiological viewpoints in the body of contemporary Portuguese literature? The analysis of the subject's indicators of utterance shows a fragmented, cleaved (onomasiology) "I", which projects itself outside the inner self towards an abundance of indefinite voices (Part I). The characterisation of fragmental writing and the study of the various configurations of graphical and textual fragmentation reveal that the internal structure of these texts approaches that of a network (Part II). Fragmental texts are "open works" in that they engage the reader to participate to the creation of the works itself by taking various interpretative paths (semasiology) (Part III). The wealth and plasticity of the Portuguese language and the complexity of contemporary Portuguese texts require an epistemological analysis. This analysis is carried out all along this study in a motion of back-and-forth between the texts and the linguistic instruments combined from multi-disciplinary perspectives

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAs requested by the French Civil Aviation University (ENAC), this study concerns radioscopic visualizations used in aviation security screening, intended to protect international civil aviation against unlawful acts (terrorist attack or piracy). From a theoretical point of view, this PhD thesis contributes to the general problem of optimization and tries to demonstrate how this notion finds a place in the semio-linguistic field using the notion of epilinguistics, such as formulated by Culioli and Badir, and of episemiotics, according to Klinkenberg and Fontanille. Drawing on these epistepomological considerations, this research deals with the methodological question of the observable of this episemiotic dimension by selecting three major approaches : that of the "imprint" from semiotics, that of "the functional deformation" from ergonomics, and that of the "device" from Information and Communication Sciences. Planned in three stages, the analysis mobilized both textual and visual corpuses. The first stage aims at the description and the modeling of aviation security strategies by a programmatic-text analysis of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The second part is a genetic study of a genre "digital radioscopic visualization". Finally, the last part comppares two types of functional deformation : the deformation of the visualization by the practice and the deformation of the practice by visual occurrences

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research on word and image - more specifically on the focusing phenomena at stake in language and painting - mainly has an impact in the field of semiotics. The systematic cross-examination of both linguistic and pictorial signs leads to an in-depth reflection on the vaster notions of time and space. The two entities are distinct only in the artificial theoretical fields of science, due to epistemological constraints which alternatively make us blind to movement or space. Concretely, we never experience time without space or space without time, there is only movement and it is four-dimensional. Poetry taken in its widest acceptation - i. E. A one-dimensional linguistic representation - is the kinetic ex-pression of an internal invisible flow of consciousness. Conversely, painting is the two-dimensional fixation and external reordering of the self. Focusing phenomena occur at all representational levels but also when moving from the more concrete to the more abstract: the linguistic line. In a way, representations act as inter-subjectivity’s measuring tools. They act as landmarks towards which interlocutors’ shifting environment is targeted and from which it derives. Each time the subject compensates for the missing dimension(s) in the representation, whether linguistic or pictorial. I therefore define focusing phenomena as the momentous but ephemeral halts in an ever-shifting flow towards the more abstract and back. Fixing those miscellaneous ideas and impressions requires such illusory breaks, while meaning on the whole never occurs in one specific identifiable spot; it is an u-topos, the only genuine abstraction. Representations thus always deictically point to an intrinsic lacuna: what they signify is neither visual nor linguistic; literally, the focus is a hole in the fabric left for the interpreter to fill

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe present thesis originates in research based on training periods attended by teachers of English. It is based on the argument that the analysis of the intimate relationships between pictures and the utterances that go with them reveals the unconscious grammatical representation underlying them. Whether we deal with sequences drawn from narrative films in which the concatenation of images and words enables us to get access to the secret operations that take place before the emergence of grammatical operators or with the scriptovisual arrangement of Internet websites, our close scrutiny of film language sheds light on the way English works. This research on mental operations conducted in the spirit of metaoperational grammar also aims at adding a fresh contribution to the development of the reflection on learning strategies which has been at the core of the 'didactics' of English over the last few years. Its goal is to show our colleagues how they can train their pupils to exert their powers of observation and deduction on the audiovisual and digital aids that are now part and parcel of their everyday lives. In addition, it allows them to think up the new ways of teaching English induced by the remote control of a DVD, the mouse of a computer or the Internet

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe multiculturalism which characterises Lebanese advertising in the written press, is a mixture of Lebanese identity (innately Arabic) with distinctive western influences. This advertising conveys symbols belonging to Lebanese culture as well as those understood worlwide. The usage is mainly French, to a lesser extent English and rather less Arabic. It therefore mirrors the multilingual capability of Lebanese citizens. In eliminating social, cultural and religious differences, it reflects an image solely of an upper class. It displays a westernised style of living as much as a Lebanese one, while showing characters and settings with specific Lebanese reference. Given the particular wording of lebanese advertisements, a dialectic is established between that language and the universal language used for publicity

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis dissertation treats the poetic discourse of oral literature so so far as this literature is extremely opened to a perspective of modelisation. Starting form the notion of discourse as it has been elaborated by e. Benveniste, we have firstly been led to discern two cycles of folk songs in the corpus of songs from cappadoce, corpus which has served us as a material of work : the cycle of lyric songs and the cycle of narrative ones, being respectively defined by the undertaking or not the poetic instance from the folk singer him self. The notion of narrativity constitutes a factor of global structure organizing the poetic discourse and we condier it on two levels of analysis : firstly on the level of structure where the indicative term is the narration as a story construction and the suitable analytic term the event. Then, we consider it as a form where the dominant term is the narration as discourse and the suitable analytic unit the poetic verse constructed on the model of an autonomous organization, the phrase. But, while the narrative discourse is essentialy "representative" of verbal or not-verbal realities, in the lyric folk songs there is no representation but only the poet's speech qhich is directly investid in the poetic discours. This speech puts the conditions for the structure of the lyric dialogue and the lyric monologue - which is an inward dialogue - both of them being mainly relative to the speech act, the enonciation. If we consider the way the lyric song is constru- cted, we remark that because of lacking of a logical structure, this kind of folk song will always follow the pattern representing the psy- chological mouvement of the pot's expression. What is seeked then in this analysis of oral poetic discourse is to be suggested a type index of structures to which the discourse of every folk song of the corpus could be reported

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe study of the subjective predicates "believe" and "think" raises the problem of the linguistic representation of inner states. As they are not outwardly observable, they take on dissymmetrical values according to the person and tense with which they are used. The articulation between the subject of the utterance and the enunciator impacts both on how such verbs function and their translation into French. It is generally accepted that "think" is the equivalent of "penser" and "believe" that of "croire". The study of a representative corpus shows that there is in fact no systematic correspondences between these verbs. Ln main clauses, "think" is often translated by "croire" and "believe" by "penser". "Think" and "believe" are translated by "croire" when the enunciator cannot guarantee what is stated in the noun clause. "Think" is thus frequently translated by "croire" when the enunciator and the subject of the utterance validate opposite values or whenever a specific value is called into question. On the other hand, "believe" is rarely translated by "croire" because unlike "croire", "believe" is not fundamentally compatible with a counterfactual value. Marking the conviction of the subject of the utterance, it weakens the degree of commitment of the enunciator. "Believe" is translated by "croire" in the third person only if the conflicting value is clarified in the context. The counterfactual value is then added to the level of conviction conveyed by "believe". "Think" and "believe" are translated by "penser" when they indicate the point of view of the subject of the utterance regarding the content of the noun clause. The enunciator remains neutral as the subjective coordinates locating the utterance. It follows that "think" and "croire" reveal a divided assertive origin
