We propose an approach for ranking microblog search results. The basic idea is to leverage user engagement for the purpose of ranking: if a microblog post received many retweets/replies, this means users find it important and it should be ranked higher. However, simply applying the raw count of engagement may bias the ranking by favoring posts from celebrity users whose posts generally receive a disproportionate amount of engagement regardless of the contents of posts. To reduce this bias, we propose a variety of time window-based outlier features that transfer the raw engagement count into an importance score, on a per user basis. The evaluation on five real-world datasets confirms that the proposed approach can be used to improve microblog search.

Online reviewer societies flourish on contributions from different reviewers, who display a wavering engagement behavior. Effort has been made in the e-marketing literature for segmenting individuals with the help of their engagement behavior. In this study, the authors segment the reviewers of a popular travel website (TripAdvisor) through k-means clustering based on three dimensions (F-frequency, H-helpfulness, R-recency), resulting in four different reviewer segments-valuable, trustworthy, new and valueless. The authors calculate the reviewer value using fuzzy AHP and then rank the reviewer segment accordingly. The authors find that the valuable reviewers, who post eWOM regularly and get greater helpful votes by eWOM readers, are the most important. Surprisingly, the trustworthy, who also get more helpful votes with higher eWOM volume, but not posting any review recently, are the second most important. This research is a novel effort on reviewer segmentation and gives valuable insights to e-marketers.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to present an alternative to university ranking lists published in U.S. News & World Report, Times Higher Education, Academic Ranking of World Universities and Money Magazine. A strategy is proposed to mine a collection of university data obtained from Twitter and publicly available online academic sources to compute social media metrics that approximate typical academic rankings of US universities. Design/methodology/approach The Twitter application programming interface (API) is used to rank 264 universities using two easily collected measurements. The University Twitter Engagement (UTE) score is the total number of primary and secondary followers affiliated with the university. The authors mine other public data sources related to endowment funds, athletic expenditures and student enrollment to compute a ranking based on the endowment, expenditures and enrollment (EEE) score. Findings In rank-to-rank comparisons, the authors observed a significant, positive rank correlation (τ = 0.6018) between UTE and an aggregate reputation ranking, which indicates UTE could be a viable proxy for ranking atypical institutions normally excluded from traditional lists. Originality/value The UTE and EEE metrics offer distinct advantages because they can be calculated on-demand rather than relying on an annual publication and they promote diversity in the ranking lists, as any university with a Twitter account can be ranked by UTE and any university with online information about enrollment, expenditures and endowment can be given an EEE rank. The authors also propose a unique approach for discovering official university accounts by mining and correlating the profile information of Twitter friends.

To facilitate the realization of this approach, a sophisticated machine-learning model is deployed. This model serves the pivotal purpose of predicting user efficiency, a crucial factor in determining the efficacy of their engagement with the Selfmade Ninja labs. Building upon this predictive prowess, a system of credits is established, intricately tied to a leaderboard that reflects individual user performances. Mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change can be addressed only through the collective action of multiple agents. The engagement of involved agents critically depends on their perception that the burdens and benefits of collective action are distributed fairly. Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), which inform climate policies, focus on the minimization of costs and the maximization of overall utility, but they rarely pay sufficient attention to how costs and benefits are distributed among agents. Consequently, some agents may perceive the resultant model-based policy recommendations as unfair. In this paper, we propose how to adjust the objectives optimized within IAMs so as to derive policy recommendations that can plausibly be presented to agents as fair. We review approaches to aggregating the utilities of multiple agents into fairness-relevant social rankings of outcomes, analyze features of these rankings, and associate with them collections of properties that a model’s objective function must have to operationalize each of these rankings within the model. Moreover, for each considered ranking, we propose a selection of specific objective functions that can conveniently be used for generating this ranking in a model. Maximizing these objective functions within existing IAMs allows exploring and identifying climate polices to which multiple agents may be willing to commit.

The notion of third mission (3M) activities is becoming increasingly important to exploit universities’ knowledge and capabilities in society. Besides, there is an emerging need of reflection of these activities in ranking methodologies of universities. In Pakistan, national ranking of universities is conducted by HEI statutory body. The purpose of this study is to assess the methodology of national ranking of HEIs in Pakistan for the reflection of third mission activities i.e., entrepreneurial and societal engagement. Content analysis was performed on the national ranking methodology based on Third Mission Model by Molas-Gallart, Salter, Patel, Scott and Duran (2002). The findings of this study revealed that only 1.03% of the third mission activities are reflected in the methodology of the national ranking system of HEI statutory body i.e., Patents (0.52%), ORICs (0.17%), Grant (0.17%) and Exchange (0.17%).This study will provide a critical base to policy makers, to incorporate third mission activities in ranking methodology to address the emerging economic and social challenges faced by the country.

Creative dialogue is a distinct emergent form of interfaith engagement that should be accounted for in any typology of interfaith dialogue methodologies. Creative dialogue features artistic collaboration and the engagement of interpersonal, artistic, and literary methods toward increasing civic interaction, civic discourse, and awareness of diversity. In this article, the analysis of creative dialogue is grounded in data derived from ethnographic study of an interfaith magazine and programme office located in Rome, Italy, and then parsed with scholarly literature about the benefits of engaging in non-discursive modalities. Creative dialogue is shown to allow for the analytical inclusion of dialogue that is neither discursive, nor overtly religious; one that is chiefly experiential, yet often yields a concrete product. This study of creative dialogue – which extends the boundaries of the standard construct of ‘interfaith dialogue’ far beyond institutional contexts with high-ranking clergy and religious elites – is grounded in a post-secular analysis of religious diversity and pluralism that shows that interfaith dialogue, like religious practice, is fluid, relational, embodied, creative, and socially embedded.

Indonesia has 106.9 million active TikTok users aged 18 and above. TikTok is designed for engagement in many ways, as it actively encourages two-way communication and eye-catching content. Uploaded content must have its uniqueness variable. In increasing the engagement of a TikTok account, criteria are chosen based on the COBRA concept (consuming, contributing, and creating) and alternatives based on social media content trends in Indonesia (tutorial, educational, a day in my life, behind the scene dan tips and trick). This research was conducted by implementing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to select the content that must be prioritized to get engagement from the wider community. From the data processing results obtained, tutorial content is the best content in increasing engagement results, especially TikTok. Content that has the lowest engagement is behind the scene content. Further research can be carried out through a group decision support system with various related experts. It can also be combined with the BORDA, TOPSIS, and Profile Matching methods to optimize ranking results.

Teaching sorting and searching algorithms in Data Structures and Algorithms courses is often challenging due to their abstract nature. Traditional lecture-based methods frequently fail to provide students with an intuitive understanding of these essential concepts, leading to poor engagement and comprehension. This research explores the use of a game-based learning approach, specifically the card ranking method, to address these challenges and enhance student learning. The study was conducted with the 2021/2022 batch of students enrolled in the Data Structures and Algorithms course. The card ranking method involved creating ten cards, each representing a number, and having ten students hold these cards. A sorting algorithm, such as insertion sort, was displayed on the screen, and the students physically enacted the algorithm by swapping positions based on the logic of the displayed algorithm. This interactive approach allowed students to visualize and actively participate in the sorting process, transforming an abstract concept into an engaging physical activity. Findings revealed that this method significantly improved students’ understanding of sorting and searching algorithms. Feedback collected from students indicated a high level of satisfaction, with many requesting the continuation of this method for teaching other algorithms. The activity fostered active participation, collaboration, and engagement, which are essential components of effective learning. This research underscores the potential of game-based learning approaches to address learning challenges in computer science education. By integrating interactive methods such as the card ranking method, educators can foster deeper comprehension and increase student interest in complex topics. Future work will explore the application of this method to additional algorithms and assess its scalability in larger classrooms.

AbstractIntroduction:This study employed the Delphi method, an exploratory method used for group consensus building, to determine the benefits and challenges associated with community engagement in patient-centered outcomes research.Methods:A series of email surveys were sent to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)-funded researchers (n = 103) in New England. Consensus was achieved through gathering themes and engaging participants in ranking their level of agreement over three rounds. In round one, participant responses were coded thematically and then tallied. In round two participants were asked to state their level of agreement with each of the themes using a Likert scale. Finally, in round three, the group was asked to rank the round two themes based on potential impact.Results:Results suggested the greatest benefit of community engagement is that it brings multiple perspectives to the table, with 92% ranking it as the first or second most important contribution. Time was ranked as the most significant barrier to engaging community. Strategies to overcome barriers to community engagement include engaging key stakeholders early in the research, being kind and respectful and spending time with stakeholders. The most significant finding was that no researchers reported having specific measures to evaluate community engagement.Conclusion:Community engagement can enhance both research relevance and methodology when researchers are engaged in meaningful collaborations. Advancing the science of community engagement will require the development of evaluation metrics to examine the multiple domains of partnership.

PurposeThis study is dedicated to universities' strategic social media communication and focuses on the fan engagement triggered by Facebook postings. The study contributes to a growing body of knowledge that addresses the strategic communication of universities that have thus far hardly dealt with questions of resonance and evaluation of their social media messages.Design/methodology/approachUsing the Facebook Graph API, the authors collected posts from the official Facebook fan pages of the universities listed on Shanghai Ranking's Top 50 of 2015. Specifically, the authors retrieved all posts in a three-year range from October 2012 to September 2015. After downloading the Facebook posts, the authors used tools for automated content analysis to investigate the features of the post messages.FindingsOverall, the median number of likes per 10,000 fans was 4.6, while the number of comments (MD = 0.12) and shares (MD = 0.40) were considerably lower. The average Facebook Like Ratio of universities per 10,000 fans was 17.93%, the average Comment Ratio (CR) was 0.56% and the average Share Ratio (SR) was 2.82%. If we compare the average Like Ratios (17.93%) and Share Ratios (2.82%) of the universities with the respective Like Ratios (5.90%) and Share Ratios (0.45%) of global brands per 10,000 fans, we may find that universities are three times (likes) and six times (shares) as successful as are global brands in triggering engagement among their fan bases.Research limitations/implicationsThe content analysis was solely based on the publicly observable Facebook communication of the Top 50 Shanghai Ranking universities. Furthermore, the content analysis was limited to universities listed on the Shanghai Ranking's Top 50. Also, the Facebook posts have been sampled between 2012 and September 2015. Moreover, the authors solely focused on one social media channel (i.e., Facebook), which might restrict the generalizability of the study findings. The limitations notwithstanding, university communicators are invited to take advantage of the study's insights to become more successful in generating fan engagement.Practical implicationsFirst, posts published on the weekend generate significantly more engagement than those published on workdays. Second, the findings suggest that posts published in the evening generate more engagement than those published during other times of day. Third, research-related posts trigger a certain number of shares, but at the same time these posts tend to lower engagement with regard to liking and commenting.Originality/valueTo the authors’ best knowledge, the automated content analysis of 72,044 Facebook posts of universities listed in the Top 50 of the Shanghai Ranking is the first large scale longitudinal investigation of a social media channel of higher education institutions.

Digital transformation and globalization processes require universities to adapt to new challenges and demands of society and integrate the principles of sustainable development into all areas of their activities. Under martial law, the issue of increasing the competitiveness of universities is particularly relevant. Each university seeks to attract the most talented students, teachers, and researchers. One of the tools for assessing the competitiveness of universities is international rankings, including those aimed at measuring the achievements of universities in the field of sustainable development and their contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are an indicator of effective management and improvement of the quality of education for its sustainability. The key rankings that rank universities by their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals are the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, QS World University Rankings, and UI GreenMetric. Based on the analysis of the methodologies of these rankings, are identified the main criteria and indicators used in each of the rankings that have a significant impact on the competitiveness of the university in the context of sustainable development. The analysis made it possible to outline the guidelines for the university's activities to improve its ranking in the context of sustainable development, and the recommendations of the European Association of Universities prompted and became the basis for the development of the Roadmap (Policy) for Sustainable Development, which consolidates key strategic guidelines aimed at systematic integration of sustainable development principles in the areas of the university's activities: education for sustainable development, research and innovation, social impact, public engagement, partnership and cooperation, image and sustainable reputation, sustainable infrastructure. The Sustainable Development Roadmap (Policy) is aimed at systematically integrating sustainability principles into the educational process, research, and management processes of the university. The goals identified by the areas of activity will serve as indicators for the development of an internal sustainability rating of the university's structural units, which will improve the university's ranking in international sustainability rankings and ensure its competitiveness.

Since influencer marketing has become an essential marketing method, influencer fraud behavior such as buying fake followers and engagements to manipulate the popularity is under the spotlight. To address this issue, we propose a multi-task audience evaluation model that can assess both the loyalty and authenticity of influencers’ audiences. More specifically, the proposed model takes engagement information of an influencer’s audience, including likes and comments on social media posts, and predicts (i) the retention rate of the audience of the influencer and (ii) how the influencer is associated with fake audiences (or engagement bots). To learn the social interaction between influencers and their audiences, we build multi-relational networks based on the diverse engagement behavior such as commenting. Our model further utilizes the contextualized information captured in user comments to learn distinct engagement behavior of genuine and fake users. Based on the predicted loyalty and authenticity scores, we rank influencers to find those who are followed by loyal and authentic audiences. By using a large-scale Instagram influencer-audience dataset which contains 14,221 influencers, 9,290,895 audiences, and 65,848,717 engagements, we evaluate ranking performance, and show that the proposed framework outperforms other baseline methods.

The purpose of this study was to analysis the relationship of sport engagement and mental toughness in elite tennis players from Ecuador and Portugal. The study featured 265 elite tennis players (127 from Ecuador and 138 from Portugal), with ages between 15 and 30 years old (Mage = 18.81; SD = 3.73) and belonging to the most advanced categories of the national ranking of both countries. Two questionnaires were used including the Mental Toughness Index and Athlete Engagement Questionnaire. We realized a quantitative analysis, where the ANOVA statistical analysis test of unidirectional repetitive measures, Pearson correlation (ρ) and Cronbach (α) were used, which supported the analysis. The results showed that tennis players from both countries have high levels of sport engagement and mental toughness. In addition, the results showed positively relationship between sport engagement and mental toughness, indicating that players to become mentally tougher need to be dedicated and enthusiastic about the sport. On the other hand, not significant differences between both genders and countries were evident. This study reinforces the importance of developing psychological programs, based on sport engagement and mental toughness in order to developing determined, tough and component athletes to overcome adversity.

With the deep integration of information technology and education, blended learning has emerged as a new paradigm in higher education, combining the strengths of both online and offline learning environments. This approach allows English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners, particularly in the Chinese context, to engage in flexible and continuous learning beyond traditional classroom settings, thereby fostering greater student initiative and self-directed learning. Understanding the impact of teacher support on student engagement within this blended learning framework is crucial for optimizing educational outcomes. This study employed a quantitative descriptive comparative and correlational research design to examine the relationship between various forms of teacher support—instructional, emotional, feedback, and interpersonal—and student engagement among 307 Chinese EFL learners in a blended learning environment. The findings reveal that all forms of teacher support were perceived as high, with feedback provision ranking highest. Similarly, student engagement was also rated highly across behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. The Pearson correlation coefficient between teacher support and student engagement was found to be 0.75, indicating a significant positive relationship. Based on these findings, a program aimed at enhancing teacher support to further improve student engagement in blended learning environments was developed and recommended.

This study explored the perceived effectiveness of the Learning Management System (LMS), self-efficacy, and work engagement. The researcher made use of descriptive-quantitative design with questionnaire as the main instrument of gathering the data. A total of. 107 faculty teachers from three Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines that are using Canvas LMS were chosen through convenience sampling. Online questionnaires were used to collect data, and descriptive statistics were employed to analyze demographic information. Based on the results, teachers reported high levels of perceived LMS effectiveness, teachers’ self- efficacy, and work engagement. Significant differences were found in perceived LMS effectiveness based on gender, with males ranking higher than females. Differences were also observed across age groups and the duration of LMS usage. Correlational analysis indicated positive relationships between perceived LMS effectiveness, teachers’ self-efficacy, and work engagement. Through regression analysis, it was revealed that teachers’ self- efficacy significantly predicted perceived LMS effectiveness, and the combined effect of perceived LMS effectiveness and teachers’ self- efficacy significantly predicted work engagement. Moreover, teachers suggested vast areas for upskilling in terms of LMS features, Assessment, Professional Networks, and Support and Instructions. The study identified areas of concerns in the dimensions of perceived LMS effectiveness, teacher’s self-efficacy, and work engagement that served as the bases for recommended faculty upskilling plan for online and hybrid instructions.

The level of competitiveness of Indonesian human resources (HR) in the world is recorded to have risen four ranks to position 47 based on the results of the Institute for Management Development World Talent Ranking (IMD WTR) 2023 research. The Indonesian Ministry of Finance realizes that one of the greatest strengths in an organization to achieve this lies in its human resources (HR). This study aims to identify the perceptions of employees of the Ministry of Finance's HR Bureau regarding work-life balance and employee engagement and to analyze the influence of work-life balance dimensions on employee engagement. The methods used are descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS 26. The results of the study show that employee perceptions of work-life balance and employee engagement are classified as good criteria, then the work-life balance has an effect on employee engagement, then there are two variables, namely Work Interference Personal Life and Personal Life Interference Work have an effect on employee engagement. The variables Work Enhancement of Personal Life and Personal Life Enhancement of Work have no effect on employee engagement. It can be concluded that employees can distinguish and understand their roles and responsibilities both in work and in their personal lives when working. To increase mobile user engagement, photo sharing sites are trying to identify interesting and memorable pictures. Past proposals for identifying such pictures have relied on either metadata (e.g., likes) or visual features. In practice, techniques based on those two inputs do not always work: metadata is sparse (only few pictures have considerable number of likes), and extracting visual features is computationally expensive. In mobile solutions, geo-referenced content becomes increasingly important. The premise behind this work is that pictures of a neighborhood is linked to the way the neighborhood is perceived by people: whether it is, for instance, distinctive and beautiful or not. Since 1970s, urban theories proposed by Lynch, Milgram and Peterson aimed at systematically capturing the way people perceive neighborhoods. Here we tested whether those theories could be put to use for automatically identifying appealing city pictures. We did so by gathering geo-referenced Flickr pictures in the city of London; selecting six urban qualities associated with those urban theories; computing proxies for those qualities from online social media data; and ranking Flickr pictures based on those proxies. We find that our proposal enjoys three main desirable properties: it is effective, scalable, and aware of contextual changes such as time of day and weather condition. All this suggests new promising research directions for multi-modal learning approaches that automatically identify appealing city pictures.

This study aims to explore the use of the Elimination and Choice Expressing Reality (ELECTRE) method for selecting and evaluating online courses. The pairwise comparison method determined a set of criteria and weights, including course quality, instructor experience, accreditation, student engagement, flexibility, technical support, and cost. The study used a mixed-methods approach, which means it combines quantitative and qualitative data. The ELECTRE method was then applied to rank five online courses based on their suitability for the participants' needs and expectations. The concordance and discordance indices were calculated for each course, and the net flow was used to determine the ranking. The results showed that the ELECTRE method can be a useful tool for participants in choosing and evaluating online courses based on a set of tailored criteria and weights. Future research could investigate how the results of the ELECTRE method can be combined with other methods to enhance the accuracy and validity of the ranking. Overall, the ELECTRE method provides a useful framework for participants to decide which online course is best suited to their individual preferences and goals.

Disordered social media use, often referred to as “social media addiction”, has not been officially recognized by medical bodies such as the American Psychiatric Association or the World Health Organization. However, websites still present information to laypeople on how to treat and manage social media addiction, which can pose the risk of spreading low quality or incorrect information. As such, we aimed to assess how the most popular social media addiction websites present information across multiple metrics. We conducted an in-depth online search to identify the top social media addiction websites in November 2019 (N = 23). Websites were separated into four distinct classifications: (1) treatment/therapy/medical; (2) informational; (3) news article; and (4) blog/essay. Based on previous website analysis research, three trained coders evaluated these websites on six metrics: (1) design; (2) credibility; (3) accessibility; (4) literacy; (5) engagement; and (6) social media addiction content. Design features were the top-rated metric across all websites, followed by credibility. Websites scored the lowest for the engagement and social media addiction content metrics. Across website classifications, scores for social media addiction content varied greatly, with blog/essay websites ranking the lowest and informational websites ranking the highest. Our findings provide necessary information for both patients and healthcare providers, apprising these individuals and the field about the current online health information landscape for disordered social media use.

In tertiary education, generic professional skills should be developed along with discipline-specific knowledge and skills. Team-Based Learning (TBL), an active learning strategy, creates deep learning and enhanced student engagement; however, its effects on the development of generic learning outcomes are unknown. The aim of this study was to evaluate postgraduate specialty nursing students’ perspectives of how TBL impacts the acquisition of skills defined by the university’s eight Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs). A descriptive exploratory design was used in this study. Postgraduate nursing students in 2016-2017 at one university were invited to participate. Data were collected via demographic survey, a ranking tool, and written reflections. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. The response rate was 97.2 per cent (172/177). Participants were mostly females (n=152, 88.4%) aged 25–34 years (n=115, 66.9%). Student (n=156) rankings showed TBL contributed to the acquisition of critical thinking (n=90, 57.7%) and problem solving skills (n=56, 35.9%) the most. Students (n=144) made 2719 comments regarding how TBL led to the acquisition of GLOs in written reflections. Almost 98 per cent (n=2657) of all reflective comments were positive. All students mentioned at least one GLO positively due to TBL. Most positive reflections related to self-management (n=520, 19.6%) and communication (n=434, 16.3%).Postgraduate specialty nursing students perceived TBL classes contributed to the acquisition of their university’s GLOs, particularly critical thinking, problem solving, and self-management skills. The active learning strategy of TBL facilitates learning and engagement, and the attainment of essential professional attributes which are highly valued by employers.

This investigation employs Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) to analyze data from 1298 Chinese university students, aiming to clarify the mechanisms through which individual psychological resources, primarily academic self-efficacy and positive coping strategies, affect student satisfaction in the context of academic stress. Four distinct profiles emerged based on levels of academic self-efficacy and positive coping strategies: Low-Spirited, General Copers, Capable but Passive, and Optimistic and Confident. These profiles demonstrate significant variances in the sources of academic stress, student engagement, and student satisfaction, with a ranking order from most to least satisfied as follows: Optimistic and Confident, Capable but Passive, General Copers, and Low-spirited. While academic stress uniformly augments engagement across all profiles, its effect on student satisfaction diverges—negatively for Low-spirited and General Copers, and positively for Capable but Passive and Optimistic and Confident. The analysis reveals varying levels of academic stress-tolerance among profiles, highlighting the critical role of academic self-efficacy and indicating a possible nonlinear relationship between student engagement and satisfaction. These findings enhance our comprehension of student satisfaction’s intricate dynamics and suggest strategies to alleviate academic stress and improve psychological well-being.

Purpose Despite Schau et al.’s (2009) pioneering research addressing consumers’ community engagement practices, scholarly understanding of the nature and dynamics characterizing consumers’ engagement practices in virtual (online) brand communities, and their inter-relationships, is limited to date. Building on these authors’ study, this paper aims to develop a refined typology and process model of virtual brand community engagement practices (VBCEPs). Design/methodology/approach Using the netnographic methodology, the authors analyze 20 luxury handbag community members’ entries posted on the brand’s particular section of The Purse Forum. Findings The authors develop an eight-component VBCEP typology that refines Schau et al.’s (2009) four-component model of brand community engagement practices. The model comprises “greeting”, “regulating”, “assisting”, “celebrating”, “appreciating”, “empathizing”, “mingling” and “ranking”. These practices contribute to and maintain the community’s vision and identity, and strengthen shared community consciousness. Research limitations/implications A key limitation of this research lies in its findings being generated from a single, luxury virtual brand community. Future research may thus wish to validate the VBCEP typology and model across different contexts. Practical implications The authors provide strategic managerial recommendations designed to leverage virtual brand community performance, which center predominantly on the social (altruistic) and achievement-based VBCEP sub-processes. Originality/value The eight-component VBCEP typology refines Schau et al.’s four-component model of brand community engagement practices with particular applicability to virtual brand communities.

In recent years, e-sports has experienced a rapid surge in popularity, attracting a vast and diverse audience. As this industry continues to evolve, understanding and predicting e-sport engagement becomes increasingly vital for stakeholders, including game developers, tournament organizers, sponsors, and marketers. Machine learning classification algorithms offer a powerful approach to analyse and forecast user engagement in e-sports, thereby enabling the industry to tailor experiences to individual preferences and behaviours. Thus, this study investigates the level of engagement classification technique of data mining using predictive modelling operations with four different classes, namely strongly agree, either agree or disagree, disagree, and strongly disagree. Machine learning algorithms, particularly classification models, have proven to be effective in analysing large and complex datasets related to e-sport engagement. This study applies statistical techniques to categorize users based on 59 attributes of 106 instances to predict the engagement levels. By training on historical user data, six classification algorithms from two groups, namely bayes and rules, have been used to identify patterns and trends that are indicative of different engagement levels, with the accuracy ranges from 76% to 92%. For feature selection, the result shows that participating in activities, enjoying exchanging ideas, and playing with like-minded gamers were the top three ranking dimensions contributing to the level of engagement. Machine learning classification algorithms have the potential to revolutionize how e-sport engagement is understood and optimized. By analysing diverse data points and leveraging advanced predictive techniques, machine learning algorithms enable stakeholders to tailor e-sport experiences to individual preferences and behaviours, ultimately enhancing user engagement and satisfaction.

This study examined the effectiveness of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices in promoting Turkey's tourism destinations, focusing specifically on Istanbul city. Recognizing SEO as a crucial digital marketing tool, the study significantly contributed to the understanding of how SEO influences the visibility and attractiveness of destinations online. Employing a descriptive survey design, the research evaluated SEO practices on a representative sample of tourism-related websites in Istanbul, including official tourism websites, hotel sites, and travel blogs. The websites were analyzed based on established SEO parameters such as keyword usage, meta tags, backlink quality, website speed, and mobile optimization. The study also performed a comprehensive SERP (Search Engine Result Pages) analysis to gauge the visibility of these websites in organic search results. User engagement metrics such as bounce rate, time spent on the site, and conversion rates were studied to understand the effectiveness of the websites in attracting and retaining potential tourists. Furthermore, surveys were conducted with potential tourists to glean insights into their online search behavior, the perceived credibility of high-ranking websites, and their likelihood of visiting a destination based on its online representation. The findings revealed a strong correlation between effective SEO practices, high SERP rankings, and positive user engagement metrics. The study concluded that well-implemented SEO strategies significantly improved the online visibility and credibility of Istanbul's tourism destinations, thereby attracting a greater number of potential tourists. The findings underscored the necessity for local tourism businesses to invest in building SEO expertise and resources to capitalize on the potential of digital marketing in promoting tourism. Through simulated experiments and empirical validations, the efficacy of SRRC-enhanced virtual simulation teaching methods is evaluated. Results demonstrate significant improvements in student performance and satisfaction compared to traditional teaching approaches. While comments encourage higher-levels of user engagement with online media, their wide success places new burdens on users to process and assimilate the perspectives of a huge number of user-contributed perspectives. Toward overcoming this problem we study in this paper the comment summarization problem: for a set of n user-contributed comments associated with an online resource, select the best top-k comments for summarization. In this paper we propose (i) a clustering-based approach for identifying correlated groups of comments; and (ii) a precedence-based ranking framework for automatically selecting informative user-contributed comments. We find that in combination, these two salient features yield promising results.

This short paper responds to the provocations set out in Kirsi Pauliina Kallio’s recent editorial on ‘Subtle radical moves in scientific publishing’ and emerges out of my participation in a Fennia-organized panel at the 2017 Nordic Geographers’ Meeting where participants reflected on the challenges and opportunities of creating a more equitable and pluralistic international publishing environment. Given the dominance of English language publishing in international academic work and the broader geopolitics of knowledge production through which some contexts, approaches, and modes of knowledge are regularly devalued, I suggest that—to the extent that publishing outlets are evaluated or ranked—they should be evaluated and ranked, in part, based on their contribution to a pluralistically international academy. This revaluation could help shape the informal assessments made by scholars in the context of hiring, funding, and other key decisions. It could also be integrated into more formal channels, such as within the deliberations of the boards who produce publication rankings in, for example, Finland’s Publication Forum. Such a tactic need not preclude other work to contest rankings hierarchies and audit cultures as they advance the neoliberalization of academic work, but it does 1) suggest the importance of paying attention to what and how scholars value when we evaluate publishing outlets and 2) point toward the potential of critical and creative engagement with the range of processes (i.e. indexing, accrediting, measuring, ranking etc.) that surround and subsist within academic publishing.

This study proposes a sustainable ecotourism framework for the development of semi-mountain and mountain regions of Paiko in Greece, focusing on the strategic design and ranking of trail paths using the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) VIKOR method. Aiming to balance environmental conservation with economic benefits, we designed 19 trails paths and allocated signage for resting and recreation facilities. The trail paths were assessed based on criteria such as length, difficulty, scenic appeal, and accessibility. This approach identified key trails that combine scenic beauty with infrastructure suitable for a broad range of visitors, thereby enhancing sustainable tourism appeal. Stakeholder engagement was integral to shaping the trail network, ensuring that the selected paths reflect local values and priorities. This study highlights how the VIKOR method can optimize resource allocation by ranking trails according to their environmental and visitor-centered attributes, supporting regional economic growth through ecotourism. This framework offers a replicable model for other mountainous regions seeking to harness ecotourism’s potential while preserving natural ecosystems. The findings demonstrate the capacity of well-planned trail networks to attract nature-based tourism, stimulate local economies, and respond to the rising post-pandemic interest in outdoor recreation, while promoting long-term conservation efforts. This approach offers a replicable model for the sustainable development of mountainous and semi-mountainous areas in Greece and beyond.

The study aimed to determine the second language reading and listening abilities of Grade 11 students and their relationship to grammatical morphemes and lexico-grammatical knowledge by proposing engagement exercises to enhance students’ language performance in public secondary schools. The study used the descriptive research method to determine students’ performance levels in reading, and listening abilities. The respondents were grade 11 students enrolled in the selected secondary schools in the Division of Capiz. Purposive sampling method was used as this study is based upon various criteria, including the capacity and willingness of respondents to participate. The data-gathering instruments utilized in the study were documentary analysis and teacher-made tests. For a meaningful interpretation and analysis of the study, the data were subjected to statistical treatment such as frequency, percentage, ranking, mean, Pearson r product-moment correlation, and T-test. The study’s findings revealed that Grade 11 students’ performance levels are average in grammatical morphemes and lexico-grammatical knowledge, while the levels of students’ reading and listening abilities are generally average. Further, there are relationships between the reading and listening abilities and their socio-demographic attributes. The study recommends language engagement exercises that includes activities that could enhance the listening and reading abilities of Grade 11 students based on the areas needing enhancement.

Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL) uses digital games to enhance engagement and learning, but its efficacy is linked to game features. Leaderboards are a commonly used feature to increase motivation through competition, improving engagement and learning outcomes. However, infinite leaderboards, displaying all players in an ordered ranking based on their scores, can demotivate players depending on their performance and characteristics. This study investigated primary school students’ experience with an infinite leaderboard during a digital maths game intervention. 1389 Irish students participated in a 6-week programme with the game ‘Seven Spells,’ which featured an infinite leaderboard. Player traits and opinions about the game and its leaderboard were gathered via questionnaires and surveys. Leaderboard enjoyment was influenced by players’ position on the leaderboard and maths anxiety levels. Maths anxious players disliked the leaderboard more than non-anxious players, even after controlling for their position on the leaderboard. How much players liked to play against each other was also found to be a significant factor predicting the enjoyment of the leaderboard. There was also a small correlation between leaderboard enjoyment and overall game enjoyment. These insights exemplify players’ characteristics that should be considered when incorporating infinite leaderboards into maths games to avoid negative impacts on gaming experiences.

Abstract Preclinical assessment of direct drug-target engagement and analysis of binding kinetics within the cellular environment is essential for development of safer and more effective therapeutics. Infusion of such critical data into early drug discovery would significantly reduce the failure rate of new drug candidates, accelerate drug discovery, and validate repurposing of existing drugs. Described here is a novel drug-target engagement technology that can sensitively interrogate direct binding of drugs to cellular, bacterial, or viral protein targets within the physiological environment. Micro-Tag cell target engagement technology is based on complementation of a small 15-amino acid subunit with a large subunit into an active RNA-processing enzyme. The small subunit can be cloned to any drug target for transient or stable expression using existing tools such as CRISPR. Upon complementation, the active enzyme cleaves a FRET-based oligonucleotide substrate resulting in rapid generation of fluorescent signal that can be quantified in real time. The Micro-Tag technology enables in-cell quantitation of drug target levels using qPCR systems. This is the next-generation of target engagement technology that allows for real-time monitoring of drug-target interaction in the cell. We show here data demonstrating direct engagement of several reference compounds and novel small molecules with high-profile cancer targets such as K-RAS, MTH1, EGFR, and UBE2N. Selectivity of these drugs to the targets in the cell is further delineated using their mutant counterparts as well as inactive stereoisomer compounds. The Micro-Tag cell target engagement technology provides the power of cell target engagement to a large family of target proteins. It can be employed for high-throughput screens directed at initial on-target ranking or med-chem optimization of drug candidates. It is amenable for interrogation of drug candidates across various modalities: small molecules, peptides, antibodies and PROTACs. Importantly, this next-generation target engagement technology seamlessly integrates with qPCR systems, fluorescence microscopy, live-cell microscopy, FACS analysis, and offers multiplexing capability, thus allowing for further mechanistic insight. The article solves the problem of more efficient and economical training of combat crews on short range air defense systems. The training so far is based on the use of conventional means, which require engagement of a large number of people, expensive equipment, long-term planning and spending a lot of time and space. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles - drones, greatly saves all these resources. Our mathematical model, using the methods of multicriteria decision-making - Analytical Hierarchical Processes (AHP) and optimization - The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), determines the weighting coefficients and then ranks alternatives or, the ranking for drone selection, which would replace classical means for training and coaching so meeting all parameters and characteristics of the training itself and the training equipment. The methods first prioritize the selection criteria, and then, based on their importance, concretize the solution among the offered alternatives.

The study aimed at developing and empirically testing a structural model of travel behavior based on variables such as satisfaction, value, quality, reputation and engagement that have been found to drive loyalty in various industry settings. An understanding of the drivers of satisfaction contributes to the government’s aim of delivering services that rival the best in the private sector; contributes to the neglected public service context in the service management literature and captures insights that help the shift to service-dominant thinking within the public sector.

Background Hypertension is a long-term medical condition. Mobile health (mHealth) services can help out-of-hospital patients to self-manage. However, not all management is effective, possibly because the behavior mechanism and behavior preferences of patients with various characteristics in hypertension management were unclear. Objective The purpose of this study was to (1) explore patient multibehavior engagement trails in the pathway-based hypertension self-management, (2) discover patient behavior preference patterns, and (3) identify the characteristics of patients with different behavior preferences. Methods This study included 863 hypertensive patients who generated 295,855 use records in the mHealth app from December 28, 2016, to July 2, 2020. Markov chain was used to infer the patient multibehavior engagement trails, which contained the type, quantity, time spent, sequence, and transition probability value (TP value) of patient behavior. K-means algorithm was used to group patients by the normalized behavior preference features: the number of behavioral states that a patient performed in each trail. The pages in the app represented the behavior states. Chi-square tests, Z-test, analyses of variance, and Bonferroni multiple comparisons were conducted to characterize the patient behavior preference patterns. Results Markov chain analysis revealed 3 types of behavior transition (1-way transition, cycle transition, and self-transition) and 4 trails of patient multibehavior engagement. In perform task trail (PT-T), patients preferred to start self-management from the states of task blood pressure (BP), task drug, and task weight (TP value 0.29, 0.18, and 0.20, respectively), and spent more time on the task food state (35.87 s). Some patients entered the states of task BP and task drug (TP value 0.20, 0.25) from the reminder item state. In the result-oriented trail (RO-T), patients spent more energy on the ranking state (19.66 s) compared to the health report state (13.25 s). In the knowledge learning trail (KL-T), there was a high probability of cycle transition (TP value 0.47, 0.31) between the states of knowledge list and knowledge content. In the support acquisition trail (SA-T), there was a high probability of self-transition in the questionnaire (TP value 0.29) state. Cluster analysis discovered 3 patient behavior preference patterns: PT-T cluster, PT-T and KL-T cluster, and PT-T and SA-T cluster. There were statistically significant associations between the behavior preference pattern and gender, education level, and BP. Conclusions This study identified the dynamic, longitudinal, and multidimensional characteristics of patient behavior. Patients preferred to focus on BP, medications, and weight conditions and paid attention to BP and medications using reminders. The diet management and questionnaires were complicated and difficult to implement and record. Competitive methods such as ranking were more likely to attract patients to pay attention to their own self-management states. Female patients with lower education level and poorly controlled BP were more likely to be highly involved in hypertension health education.

This study conducted an Analysis of Wattpad E-Community: A Model-Based Virtual Collaboration. Specifically, it sought to answer the following: (1) What information can be obtained based on the analysis of Wattpad E-Community in terms of (a) strengths, (b) weakness, (c) opportunities, and (d) threats?; and (2) What program can be proposed based on the S.W.O.T analysis of Wattpad E-Community?. This descriptive-quantitative research collected data via survei which were analyzed and interpreted using Weighted Mean, ranking, and verbal descriptors. The SWOT analysis indicated that ideal platform, learning experience, and sociable environment are among the group’s strengths, whereas excessive liberty, technical difficulties, and exclusivity belong to its weaknesses. In addition, the discovered opportunities in the group include possibility to meet and learn from professionals/expert, development of online learning community, and potential feasibility in data gathering, while possibility to transfer to another e-community, cyber security hazards, and frequent power outages are considered as threats. Therefore, it is recommended to propose the implementation of Project VIBE (Virtual, Interactive, and Boundless Engagement), alongside the application of the improvements and revisions generated from the results of the SWOT Analysis.

Gender based discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault are the factors that impact youth engagement in the labour market and society. Monitoring of gender based discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault among young people in the European countries remains under-developed. The research aim is to analyse beliefs of young people in the European Union in gender based discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault. The research is built on the basis of both theoretical and empirical methods. The theoretical analysis shaped the conceptual framework of the research. The empirical study was based on the survey implementation. Data were collected in five European Union countries in March-April 2022. The data were analysed via the mean calculation as well as ranking. Data interpretation was applied in order to summarise the study findings. The theoretical analysis allows for the establishment of the inter-connections between beliefs and values. The data analysis reveals that young people believe in gender based discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault. The results show that physical appearance and people race are the Top 2 beliefs that coincide in all the three phenomena, namely gender based discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault. Research limitations are outlined. Future work is proposed.

The experience of regional cooperation of certain European universities, which occupy leading positions in ARWU, is analyzed. Based on the understanding of the experience and best practices, directions of the possible influence of Ukrainian universities on the socioeconomic development of the country's regions are substantiated.In European science and practice, the following areas of cooperation between universities and regions are developed: the role of universities in accelerating innovative regional development, the social mission of universities in regional development, strategic management of the university in the context of regional development, management of regional development partnerships. Measurable indicators of the effectiveness of regional engagement are the share of university graduates employed in the region, the share of regional sources in financing the university, students’ internships carried out in the region, and joint publications. Analysis of strategic documents of Ukrainian universities included in the international economic engagement ranking UMultirank proved the practical absence of a vision of the value of cooperation of these universities with regional stakeholders and limited practice of interaction with them.The regional engagement policy of European universities is a key element of strategies. One of the most significant strategic goals of EU universities is to increase cultural, societal and economic impact at both local and regional levels. It was determined that universities are recognized as a leading force in society that contributes to democracy and sustainable development. Their impact on regional economic development is embodied by the support of qualified jobs, improvement of the supply of trained professionals, competence provision on the regional level, fostering a knowledge-based economy. Impact on solving regional societal problems is embodied by reaching out to non-traditional learners from the community, contributing to the resolution of societal problems, and offering programs for vulnerable groups. Universities also contribute to a wider spread of innovative and management culture, decision-making processes and policy advice in sector reforms.

Objective. This study presents reliability and validity findings for the Assessment for Disaster Engagement with Partners Tool (ADEPT), an instrument that can be used to monitor the frequency and nature of collaborative activities between local health departments (LHDs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Methods. We used formative research to develop the instrument by ranking LHDs according to their disaster outreach and engagement activities. We validated the scale through a 2011 national survey of disaster preparedness coordinators ( n=273) working in LHDs. We reduced the original measure of 25 items to a final measure comprising 15 items with four dimensions: ( 1) communication outreach and coordination, ( 2) resource mobilization, ( 3) organizational capacity building, and ( 4) partnership development and maintenance. We used internal consistency reliability m correlation and factor analysis to validate the measure. Results. Using internal consistency reliability, we found reasonable inter-item reliability for the four hypothesized dimensions (Cronbach's alpha: 0.71–0.88). These four dimensions were confirmed through correlation and factor analysis (Varimax rotation). Conclusion. Higher scores on all four dimensions of ADEPT for organizational respondents suggest that more activities were conducted for inter-organizational preparedness in those organizations than in organizations whose respondents had lower scores. This finding implies that organizations with higher ADEPT scores have more active relationships with CBOs/FBOs in the realm of preparedness, a key element for creating community resilience for emergencies and disaster preparedness.

The requirement for intralogistics activities to be automated has been impacted by current trends based on the impact of Industry 4.0, the growth of e-commerce, the emergence of the consumer society, the rise in demand for logistics services, etc. Automatization of warehouse intralogistics is fundamental in aiming quickly responds to all user requests. The most common intralogistics equipment in warehouses is the forklift. However, its engagement results in a low level of automation. Consequently, it is useful to implement autonomous technology, such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated mobile robots (AMRs), and drones, to have sustainable intralogistics activities. In addition to advantages and limitations, their application in practice increases performance, adaptability, system efficiency, customer satisfaction, and accuracy and contributes to the efficiency of the entire supply chain. The operating environment is more humane, environmental standards are respected, and certain economic advantages are achieved. These technologies are compared using eight criteria and the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method. AMR was selected as the most suitable option for implementing intralogistics activities. As the automation of intralogistics activities affects the entire supply chain, AMR is the solution that satisfies the social, environmental, and economic requirements of sustainable supply chain management.

Assessing the Effectiveness of Media Communications of Executive Power: An Analysis of Speeches. This study focuses on developing a method to evaluate the effectiveness of communication between Russian executive authorities and citizens. The empirical data was collected from posts on the official pages of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Perm Krai Ministry of Health, and Sverdlovsk Oblast Ministry of Health on the social media platform VKontakte. The relevance of this research lies in the need to establish objective measures of speech performance based on verifiable data. One such measure is the engagement coefficient of users, determined through the online service Popsters.ru. The novelty of this study lies in interpreting effectiveness as a complex characteristic represented by the reactions of recipients — likes, comments, and reposts. The proposed algorithm for evaluating the effectiveness of media dialogue between authorities and citizens includes the following procedures: determining criteria for selecting content, automatic analysis of material, ranking publications, content analysis of publications, and identifying their discursive-stylistic features. It has been proven that the engagement of users in communication with authorities is influenced by the content, thematic, linguistic, and non-verbal parameters of the text (question-answer complexes, evaluative vocabulary, prospective and exclamatory constructions, categorization, emojis, etc.). This methodology can be used to assess the effectiveness of media dialogue between executive power and citizens on other digital platforms.

This article explores how the World Bank’s engagement with governance reform has sparked a practice of measuring, ranking and diagnosing countries based on an epistemically constructed ideal-type of the modern state. With Foucault, I define this praxis of normalisation as a ‘transnational discipline of diagnosis’. The contribution of the article is both empirical and doctrinal. On an empirical level, it weaves together an innovative assemblage of three different technologies in the Bank’s epistemic governance praxis: the axiomatic dimension (World Development Reports); the statistical dimension (Worldwide Governance Indicators) and the diagnostic dimension (Systematic Country Diagnostics). On a doctrinal level, drawing on critical sociology and performativity theory, the article categorises this epistemic praxis as a world-making socio-political enterprise. It thereby rejects both the categorisation of epistemic power as a mode of public authority (to be integrated in a public law framework), as well as the respresentationalist idioms that inform ideology critique.

E-commerce, short for electronic commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods and services over the internet. This digital transaction model has revolutionized the way businesses operate and consumers shop. In response to the burgeoning complexity of e-commerce datasets, this work addresses the need for advanced recommendation systems. This work introduces the dual-blend insight recommendation system (DIRS) model for personalized e-commerce recommendation system. The DIRS model involves dataset loading, preprocessing, and feature extraction, enabling training with recurrent neural network (RNN) and Bayesian personalized ranking (BPR) models. Recommendations are generated based on user-defined functions, i.e., location and session, and evaluation metrics such as hit rate (HR) and mean reciprocal rate (MRR) highlight DIRS’s superior performance. The model is evaluated using the Tmall dataset. Results reveal DIRS consistently outperforms alternative algorithms, showcasing its effectiveness in 10k and 20k recommendation sets. This study provides valuable insights into optimizing e-commerce recommendations, emphasizing DIRS as a powerful model for enhancing user experience and engagement.

This study examines the perceived effects of rural transportation on agriculture produce in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government area Ondo State Nigeria. Case study research design was adopted while both primary and secondary data were utilized. Using a purposive multi-stage sampling technique, the total populations of farmers (2,139) at Igbara-oke, was determined and a 15% sample size was taken. Questionnaire was administered to 337 respondents. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were held across the study area. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyzed the data at p value ≤ 0.05, while the qualitative data were content analyzed. Based on the ranking of the effect of transportation on agriculture, spoilage of farm produce was the highest (25.4%). Chi-square revealed a significant difference between the scale of agricultural engagement and transportation accessibility to farm locations (0.258). Transportation had a significant negative effect on agricultural produce, therefore, there should be rehabilitation of more rural feeder roads from farmlands to the markets is recommended.

This study develops an integrated methodology to incorporate public perspectives into the establishment and development of public transportation infrastructure systems. The approach involves surveying citizens to collect data, performing demographic analyses to identify differences between cities, and applying Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques to weight, scale, and integrate evaluation criteria in order to determine the optimal transportation option. The primary aim of this research is to incorporate public perspectives into transportation planning in developing countries and to promote stakeholder engagement for transportation initiatives in cities such as Baghdad, Iraq, and Tehran, Iran. First, an initial survey was conducted to identify the top three preferred criteria among 200 participants from both cities. The survey results revealed that the three most important criteria were safety, travel time, and reliability. Subsequently, a larger survey utilizing the Saaty scale was administered to capture citizens’ preferences, with a total sample size of 550 from Baghdad and 345 from Tehran. The weights of the criteria were then calculated using the Group Analytical Hierarchy Process (GAHP). Three transportation alternatives—monorail, Light Rapid Transit (LRT), and metrobus—were suggested by transportation experts to be evaluated and ranked using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) based on the weighted citizen preferences. The results indicate that for Baghdad residents, transportation safety is the most important priority, followed by reliability and travel time. However, LRT is rated as the most optimal transportation solution (0.721), followed by monorail (0.596) and metrobus (0.078). In Tehran, travel time represents the most preferred transportation attribute, followed by reliability and safety. The residents of Tehran are shown to prefer LRT (0.843), followed by monorail (0.370) and metrobus (0.143). Despite the similar ranking of transportation alternatives in the two cities, the performance scores differ between them, highlighting the importance of tailoring transportation planning to the unique preferences and needs of local communities. The validation of the results was conducted through sensitivity analysis to determine how variations in the criteria weights and input parameters affected the final rankings. Additionally, a stated preference survey was employed as a practical method to evaluate the robustness of the final ranking of the alternatives.

The transformation of the economy into a digital environment has become a necessary step in recent years. The consequences of the COVID pandemic have accelerated the digital transformation and the growth of the digital economy. Intensive business engagement in the digital economy requires innovative digital solutions and online means of promotion and sale. European Union (EU) countries need to create the conditions for the gradual transformation. The paper analyses business readiness for the digital economy in EU countries. It aims to compare and assess the current situation of digital readiness based on the set of selected indicators. The analysis includes a multidimensional comparison of EU countries, classification based on cluster analysis, and ranking based on factor analysis results. Results show significant differences among EU countries. Newer member countries, mostly from South-Eastern Europe, are still lagging behind the EU average in e-Commerce activities, usage of social networks, and cloud computing. Furthermore, factor analysis has been conducted to determine underlining factors describing the overall digital readiness of EU countries and rank them accordingly. As well as in the cluster analysis, factor analysis revealed that Nordic EU member countries perform very well and show the highest digital readiness.

The framing of messages is important, as an intervention must resonate with the target group. The aim of this study was to determine what type of messaging is preferred by young adults to improve their calcium intake. A cross-sectional web-based survey was conducted and young adults aged 18 to 25 years recruited. A 14-item survey collected information on the participants’ demographics, ranking of text messages, mock Facebook posts with images, preferences related to type of posts they find personally relevant, and frequency and likelihood of engagement with posts and polls in social media. In addition, optional responses from participants about factors that motivate them to consume more calcium-rich foods were included and thematically analysed using NVivo. Eighty-one participants (17 males) completed the survey. No significant difference in ranking of the text messages and Facebook posts were found. Participants indicated that recipe demonstrations (n = 71), cost-saving tips (n = 70), and information on recommended daily intake (n = 62) were personally relevant, while meal inspiration (n = 70), awareness-raising posts (n = 41), and messages about obtaining enough calcium from non-dairy sources (n = 38) would encourage them to eat more calcium-rich foods. The qualitative replies indicated the tone (in young adults’ language) and length (short) of messages preferred, and the messaging they perceived would motivate young adults. In conclusion, short, aesthetically pleasing and personally relevant messages written in the language of young adults were recommended.

Abstract Motivation plays an immense role and is one of the key factors for successful and qualitative performance in all spheres of personal and professional engagement of individuals. Therefore, educational institutions, including academia, pay special attention to finding tools for motivating students, but also for motivation of their academic staff. Increased motivation has shown to lead to better performance and better performance inevitably contributes to quality enhancement at both individual and institutional level. The aim of this paper is to present an institutional Ranking and Remuneration (R&R) Policy based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in four areas identified as the most crucial for successful operation of a higher education institution: teaching and learning, research, staff digital profile, service to society and project-based activities. Southeast European University (SEEU) in North Macedonia has developed KPIs in these four areas through an inclusive and transparent process based on its unique Total Quality Management (TQM) approach. The policy has been created after many consultations, trials and simulations and its main objective is to enhance institutional academic productivity and effectiveness through a human resource vibration that starts from individual evaluation, motivation and performance differentiation and leads to stimulation for achieving excellence. It is at an initial stage and if tested well in practice, it can serve as a model for other higher education institutions in the country and wider.

Background and Aim: The impact of teaching methods on educational quality has been proven in many research studies. The purpose of this research was to determine and rank the components of a quality educational scaffolding model in the Iranian secondary education system. Methods: The research method was qualitative-quantitative. The qualitative section's population included experts and specialists in the fields of learning-teaching, teaching methods, and educational scaffolding, as well as related written documents including articles, scientific research, and relevant authored books. The priority-setting section included top and middle managers from education department deputy offices. In the qualitative part, deep interviews were conducted with 13 experts using snowball sampling until theoretical saturation was reached, and 18 documents (texts) were examined using a purposive method. In the priority-setting part, 35 individuals were selected through purposive sampling and responded to a matrix questionnaire. The validity and reliability in the qualitative phase were ensured through necessary reviews including acceptability (expert review) and confirmability (re-review by experts), and in the priority-setting phase, the content of the matrix questionnaire was verified for understandability and clarity by five academic and organizational experts, and reliability was calculated with inconsistency rates between 0.01 to 0.06. Qualitative data were analyzed through theoretical coding, and priority-setting data were analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique in Expert Choice software. Results: The results of the qualitative part indicated that the quality educational scaffolding model in the Iranian secondary education system consists of 10 categories (development of human and non-human resources, improvement and development of the educational system, teaching-learning methods, culture building and communications, supportive laws and behaviors, performance monitoring, strategies based on cognition and metacognition, motivation-based strategies, mental development, and scientific advancement), 21 subcategories (human resource development, student empowerment, development of hardware and software facilities, participatory and interactive teaching, task simplification, virtual learning, teaching based on scientific theories, culture building among parents and teachers, effective communication, supportive behaviors, internal and external organizational strategies and guidelines, mental and academic engagement, continuous assessment, metacognitive strategies, cognitive strategies, cognitive and metacognitive strategies, motivational strategies, psychological well-being, actualization of potential talents, improvement of learning process and academic progress), and 134 indicators which were categorized under causal, contextual, interventional, strategies, and outcomes in the research's paradigmatic model. Conclusion: The results of the priority-setting part also indicated the greater importance of "outcomes" and the component of "academic progress".
