De, Tarragon Hugo. „Construire la logistique urbaine durable : une ethnographie de l'écosystème urbaine“. Electronic Thesis or Diss., Limoges, 2025. http://www.theses.fr/2025LIMO0011.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis dissertation examines the challenges and opportunities of achieving sustainability in city logistics, employing the concepts of wicked problems and urban ecosystems. Drawing on insights from industries where sustainability was addressed through technical solutions, this study offers a critical examination of the systemic, social, and environmental complexities of city logistics as a pivotal urban sub-ecosystem and a central aspect of urban sustainability. It draws attention to issues such as emissions, safety concerns, and the conditions of gig-economy workers, critiquing profit-driven approaches that ignore the interdependencies of urban systems. In contrast, the proposal put forth is that collaborative governance, which encourages the formation of local partnerships, should be the means by which sustainability is addressed at the city level. The research employs interpretive epistemology and ethnographic methods to facilitate a more profound comprehension of city logistics as situated within local social contexts. The thesis demonstrates that sustainable city logistics requires not only technical innovations but also adaptive, collective governance that engages urban stakeholders in decision-making processes. It highlights the necessity of transitioning from centralized, technocratic solutions to adaptive, collective governance that prioritizes adaptability and resilience. This thesis not only enhances understanding of urban logistics but also contributes to supply chain management by proposing a comprehensive approach to complex, systemic sustainability challenges that integrates social and environmental dimensions

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn Mediterranean region, forest fires are a major problem leading to the desertification of the environment. Use of composts is considered as a solution for soil and vegetation rehabilitation.First, we observed the effects of three urban composts and their mode of application (laid on the soil surface or mixed into the soil) on soil restoration after fire: a municipal waste compost (MWC), a compost of sewage sludge (SSC) and a green waste compost (GWC) under laboratory conditions. Input of composts increased organic matter and soil nutrient content, and enhanced carbon and nitrogen mineralisation and total microbial biomass throughout the incubations. MWC induced the highest improvement while GWC input had no significant effect compared to the control. Composts mixed with soil weakly limited runoff whereas composts laid at the soil surface significantly reduced runoff and increased percolation and retention, particularly with the MWC.Then, we studied in situ the effects of a SSC on soil and vegetation regeneration after fire. The first months after amendment, this input increased grass species biomass. Although no significant effect was observed on other studied plants, plant biomass was more heterogeneous on amended plots while plant biodiversity was more homogeneous. The use of compost increased rapidly soil nutrient content and soil water content but plant nutrition was improved more or less durably depending species. Compost effects on microbial activities were low and only sporadic. Moreover, no negative effect was observed during the two years of experimentation

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleResearch in limnology has generally focused on natural lakes and dams. Moreover, the scientific challenges posed by urban lakes are numerous because of their large width and shallow depth resulting in complex problems that involve. This work is part of the project Petits Lacs Urbains Mesures Modèles Multi-Echelles (PLUMMME), founded by Région Île-de-France (DIM R2DS program). The project provides the high-resolution equipment measuring equipment used at Lake Créteil. Physical and biological measurements are the primary scope of this thesis, with some comparisons of measurements done between Lake Creteil and Lake Bourget. With this in mind, the first step of the thesis was to enhance currently available data. In order to do this we installed a station for the continuous measurement of: temperature, chlorophyll and light, also meteorological quantities such as wind speed, and air temperature were measured. The quantities were measured using two measuring chains comprising different sensors. Measurements were conducted in order to characterise hydrodynamics, using a current meter of type Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) and a profiler of type Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) positioned at different points in the lake (centrally, and at the point of stormwater discharge). The analysis of the various measured fields shows that the lake is periodically stratified with a period of one week. We also identify the different modes of the internal waves that occur due to the effects of the wind. Spectral analysis was used to highlight the first scale invariant propriety of the different measured fields. Various physical processes (turbulence, stratification, near-wall flow) operating along the water column were also characterised using this method. The spectral analysis, however, does not provide information about the intermittency of the fluctuations of the measured fields, this can only be done using multifractal techniques. In this thesis, we have shown that when there is a dependence between two fields, the dependence is multiscale. The use of the Universal Multifractal (UM) model, allows one to quantify the degree of this dependence. The quality of the estimation of the UM parameters depends strongly on that of the observed scale: time-series with trends are not scaling. The effects of the latter on the estimation of UM parameters can be improved by the application of the Empirical Modal Decomposition method. The measured velocity data from the ADCP shows that the slope of the power spectra density follow a logarithmic profile along the depth of the lake, it shows that different physical processes operate along the water column. We also show that the hydrodynamics of the lake at small scale are strongly perturbed at the point of waterstorm discharge. The last part of the thesis is focused on what our analysis at small-scales brings to numerical models. We show that, if the deterministic models are able to reproduce some phenomena at large scale, they fail to describe the small-scale variability. the small scale variability and the physical processes involved. A multifractal analysis showed that the small-scale variability of the physical fields displays a strong intermittency, an extremely important feature for biological or chemical reactions and therefore for biological scenarios. Knowing that the majority of biological/chemical interactions occur at smaller scales, this result underlines the necessity to greatly improve the closure of the Navier-Stokes equations. Finally, we show that the structure function, a frequently used statistical tool in turbulence, do not uniquely characterize non-conservative fields, i.e., they do not correspond to identical simulations

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe stormwater management constitutes an important challenge for cities around the world: today there are countless problems of flooding and pollution, chronic problems that tend to amplify as urbanization grows. Sustainable management of these waters is at the heart of defies of the twenty-first century and to address these problems the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development has launched a research operation. Among problems posed by stormwater, our study focuses on urban wet weather discharges (UWWD). These releases are an important and unpredictable contribution of many pollutants to the receiving water bodies. UWWD's pollution has been studied for many years and, while knowledge in the field matures, there is at present no large-scale study to identify the impact of UWWD on the receiving ecosystems. Our work consist in studying the impact of different UWWD samples collected at 3 storm sanitation sites of Lyon on the environment. We have relevant bioindicators, freshwater microalgae, unicellular organisms at the base of the trophic chain and very sensitive to pollutants present in the UWWD. We have undertaken ecotoxicological bioassays known from the literature and contributed to the development of new indicators of toxicity. Furthermore, we seek to adapt these bioassays to allow their use in the field. In parallel, we have worked to improve an enzyme biosensor algal cell. We evaluated its performances on samples of UWWD and then we built an automated measuring station to make measurements directly on the remediation site (online monitoring)

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research addresses the influence of human activities on tropical hydro-ecosystems. Its purpose is to assess the impact of urbanization on water resources. It aims to improve our knowledge of geochemical processes and material transfers in urban and peri-urban areas. The study was conducted in the Mefou river basin (840 km2, Central Africa), a tributary of the Nyong River. This basin includes the entire urban and peri-urban area of the city of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, with a population of about 2.8 million inhabitants, and classified as the country's second largest metropolis. Concentrations of major and trace elements in the dissolved fraction, dissolved and particulate organic carbon, and metals in suspended solids were measured in groundwater and runoff water from the Mefou basin heads to the Nyong River. The results present the interactions between water/rock/soil and the effects of urbanization. The normalization of concentrations with the Upper Continental Crust (UCC) shows the influence of the granito-gneissic bedrock on the composition of groundwater and surface water in the Mefou catchment area. There is an enrichment in alkalis (Na, K), alkaline earths (Ca, Mg), transition metals (Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb) and REEs (La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Yb, Lu). The remarkable enrichment of surface waters in Eu is explained by the alteration of plagioclases. Comparison of the Mefou catchment area with the reference sites, the Nsimi catchment area (source and stream of the Mengong) and the Nyong River monitored for more than twenty years under the SNO MTROPICS, shows a very significant enrichment of the waters in major elements (Cl, SO4, NO3, Na, K, Ca, Mg). Human activities lead to water contamination by nutrients and metals, and influence the dynamics of processes such as the absence of metal complexation by organic matter, probably due to the absence or low concentration of humic and fulvic acids. In groundwater, Mn, Al, Ba, Zn, Zn, Fe are the dominant transition metals and nitrate contamination (942 ± 127 µmol/L) is noted with concentrations above the standard set by the World Health Organization (806 µmol/L), and to a lesser extent by some metals like Al, Mn. In surface waters, Fe, Mn, Ba, Al, Zn, Cu are the most important metallic trace elements. However, the average concentration of Mn (4.1 ± 0.8 µmol/L) and the maximum concentration of Fe (267 µmol/L) are higher than the recommended standards (1.8 µmol/L and 35.8 µmol/L, respectively). Pollution is gradually decreasing from Mfoundi (a tributary of the Mefou River in town) to the Mefou River and the Nyong River. This natural self-regulation process is due to the dilution, sedimentation, degradation and adsorption of elements in lowland areas and in the riverbed occupied by macrophytes with a phytoremediator role. Indeed, the large volumes of water from the other tributaries of the Mefou and Nyong rivers, which drain areas with little or no anthropisation, dilute the concentration of elements in the highly mineralised waters from the urban area. The flat relief downstream of the Mefou basin slows the flow of the river and favours the deposition of suspended particles loaded with pollutants. The roots of the macrophytes in this vast and highly developed swampy area trap the organic and mineral pollutants of the Mefou River and contribute to the decrease in their concentration in the river's water

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis was a contribution to the INDAAF (International Deposition Network to study and Atmospheric chemistry in Africa) program. It aims was to study the physics and chemistry of atmospheric aerosol collected on two undisturbed African rural sites, representative of forest (Nsimi site Cameroon) and humid savanna (Djougou site Benin) ecosystems. Aerosols collected weekly in the PM2.5 and PM10 fractions at Nsimi, from 2004 to 2009 and at Djougou, from 2005 to 2009 were analyzed in order to characterize the seasonal variations of concentrations of the different chemical species and to identify their major sources according to the seasons. The contribution of each group of species was estimated from the total concentration of the aerosol. The results obtained allowed (1) to highlight the impact of climatic parameters on the concentration levels of the chemical species, with the dry season having the most important impact in general, (2) to identify biomass combustion sources and biofuel, terrigenous, biogenic, secondary as well as predominant in the dry season and biogenic sources, domestic fires and guttation phenomenon in the wet season, (3) to show the impact of the ecosystem and the location on emissions of aerosols: biogenic source and guttation are higher in the forest while terrigenous source is higher in wet savanna. The second part of my thesis is a part of the program POLCA (POLlution African Capitals). The main objective was to characterize particulate pollution in Yaounde, capital of Cameroon, and to study its toxicological impact on the human respiratory system. This work allowed to chemically characterize on a seasonal basis aerosols collected monthly from December 2012 to July 2013 and identify the sources. Furthermore, various tests on biological responses of human epithelial cells exposed to Yaounde aerosols were used to determine their toxicity in humans based on the component chemical species. The results showed (1) the impact of the size and number of Yaounde's particles on toxicity: the finer inducing a stronger expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokine response and anti-oxidant enzymes, (2) the impact of the chemical composition on this toxicity: aerosols with important quantities of particulate organic matter strongly induce gene expression of the metabolism of xenobiotics, especially CYP1A1
