The concepts of evolutionary stable strategies (ESS) and neighborhood invader strategies (NIS) are used to examine the dynamics of coevolving species. When an ESS as well as its near neighbors are ecologically stable and phenotypic space is unconstrained, the strong NIS concept shows that each member of the ESS coalition can always be repelled by some coalition strategies that are sufficiently close to the ESS. Thus an ESS for coevolving species may not be attained by selection unless phenotypic constraints are imposed.

Most rural development projects include ecological considerations, and most conservation projects include some reference to sustainable development. However, conservation projects frequently fail because they do not incorporate local communities' perceptions and needs. Many development projects are also unsuccessful because they are not based on adequate ecological assessment. We focus here on the most important ecological issues to be addressed in order to place development projects in an ecosystem context. Such projects should incorporate updated and precise ecological concepts and methods. Some key ecological issues in development projects are the relationships between ecosystem functions, services, and sustainability, the concept of loose connectivity, the distinct and complementary concepts of ecosystem resistance and resilience, and the links between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. We claim that an ecologically sound development project maximizes the preservation and improvement of ecosystem services, especially for local communities. We pose a series of questions aimed at placing rural development projects in an ecosystem context and suggest ways of organizing this information.

Modern conditions of the world economic globalization caused unification and universalization of ecological demands to the quality of agricultural production. Ecological certification can be used as an evidence of producers’ corporate responsibility towards consumers and the state. The purpose of the paper is to study the possibility of production’s ecological certifications for the implementation of corporative responsibility of the enterprise. The concept of corporate ecological responsibility of the company is rather developed. With the help of logical summarizing the determining criteria of environmentally responsible enterprise from the point of view of ecologically certificated production are defined. The correlation of corporative responsibility and ecologically certificated agricultural production is analyzed. We demonstrate the possibility of certification usage for achieving the valuable reference points of the ecologically responsible company.

One of the important causes of the ecological crisis is the egoistic mentality of contemporary people and the lack of respect for the natural order and immanent purpose of the creation. In order to shape a new pro-ecological consciousness a new concept of man and his relations with the environment is needed. One of the proposals is Catholic anthropology, whose ecological foundations were indicated by Pope Francis in his Encyclical Laudato si’. It is a proposal to describe man applying religious concepts, but also including the up-to-date knowledge about man and the environment. It is a concept open to dialogue, the aim of which should be the development of a pro-ecological lifestyle for contemporary people. Catholic anthropology postulates to combine “external” ecology with “moral” ecology, which can help modern man not only to have control over nature, but also to become its defender through small, everyday activities. In ecologically oriented anthropology, the created world is treated as a common home, and Pope Francis calls it our sister, with whom we share existence, and a beautiful mother, who takes us in her arms.

In the article it was analyzed the essence of the concepts “readiness”, “activity”, “ecological activity” from the philosophical, psychological and pedagogical points of view. It was also underlined the significance the readiness of the pupils to the ecological activity for the Ukrainian educational system. There were distinguished two approaches of the historical development of the concept “readiness”: personal and functional. The supporters of the first approach consider the readiness as disclosure of individual qualities of a person and its integrity caused by effective character of an activity with high results. The supporters of the second approach define readiness as certain state of the psychological functions of the person that is the condition of the high results during the performance of any activity. The concept “activity” was analyzed as well. The concept “activity” is defined as the activity of a person that is turned out in the system of actions directed to the achieving of certain goals. The theoretical basics of the concept “ecological activity” were outlined. The author develops and specifies the definition of the concept “the readiness of the teenagers to the ecological activity”. It is based on the knowledge about the essence of ecological activity, emotional and valuable attitude to the process of ecological activity and the usage of received knowledge and skills in the ecological activity.

This paper examines the concept of ecological citizenship by looking at two sets of arguments. Those justifying the concept itself, and those criticizing the need to devise a new concept of citizenship and political community in relation to ecological problems. The paper argues for a shift in focus: instead of searching for (or readily dismissing) a new concept of citizenship, we should adopt a different perspective capable of capturing the explanatory potentials of citizenship-related notions - especially citizenship action and political space in which it is constituted - in the context of contemporary global ecological problems.

Ecological design concept is a design concept aimed at advocating green environmental protection and sustainable development, which is widely used in different cases of environmental design including urban and kindergarten. In our study, using literature research, case reference, and field research as research methods, through the theoretical research of domestic and foreign kindergarten environment design and interpretation of typical cases to summarize the ecological design method and design strategy, can be further applied in larger field such as urban, basin, and/or region. Then, take “Chenguang” kindergarten in Beijing as example to analyze ecological element in there. Aiming at ecological landscape, ecological humanities, and ecological experience as the goal, the kindergarten’s architectural appearance and indoor and outdoor environment have been transformed and redesigned. Ecological principle and ecological strategy from our study present an important reference meaning in improving the quality of urban space environment and shaping a good city image which are of great significance.

The paper assesses the ecological approach which challenges the standard concept of scarcity in both neoclassical economics and neo-Darwinian orthodoxy. The focus is on comparative theory analysis with regards to the relevance of matter/energy influx. It should not be surprising, in light of the mathematical structure, that the ideas of optimization of utility in orthodox economics and optimization of fitness in mainstream biology are based on common assumptions. One of the assumptions is that environmental resources are given or exist passively in relation to the actor. Otherwise, the mathematical maximization functions would not be feasible. The orthodox assumption of resources as given for a specific population of firms or organisms need not deny that the environment continuously changes, but the assumption entails that such changes are by-products of the interaction of the population with the environment, the interference of other populations, and other exogenous factors. Thus, the orthodox assumption of resources as given, according to the ecological school, excludes, at first approximation, endogenous factors in the explanation of environmental dynamics or the economy-environment nexus. Inspired by Alfred Lotka's work, the ecological agenda in economics (as led by Daly and Costanza) and in biology (as advocated by Odum, Wicken, Depew, Weber, and Ulanowicz) advance the same alternative to the orthodox axiom concerning resources; viz., resources are a function of the active agent. While such an alternative is very fruitful, it does not go far enough. It has limitations: In economics, the ecological approach generally cannot solve the long-term problem of the asymmetric exchange between human economy and the environment. In the life sciences, the ecological approach, as far as it adheres to reformed Darwinism, faces difficulties with regards to the concepts of organization and the process of development/evolution. These problems call for similar conceptual innovations in both disciplines.

This article relates the theoretical concept of ecological habitus to the specific context of radical environmental movements. I begin by examining how the term “ecological habitus” has been interpreted by sociologists to date and identify two evident tensions in relation to Bourdieu’s original notion of habitus. I then expand the concept of ecological habitus by considering field and capital(s) within radical environmental movements. I suggest that two broad streams of environmental concern, reformist environmentalism and ecologism, shape ecological habitus in different ways. I also advance that these same theoretical frameworks interact with organic and built habitats in particular ways that can in turn connect and shape ecological habitus to immediate landscape. Finally, I deal with the complexity of transferring ecological habitus (single field) to contemporary society (multiple fields) and propose an alternative term, green habitus, to describe an ecologically relevant habitus that occurs within contemporary society.

Drawing on a scientific literature on the Biosphere and the global SBT-structure and development, on Russian, foreign and my own investigations of global ecological issues and environmental movements, I came to the following conclusions. First, these issues are both important practically and theoretically. Second, under the ecological war I mean all kinds of harm which is caused by man to the natural, human and complex invasion into the natural and social ecosystems. Third, the researchers are still follow the principle ‘Firstly, we should to cope with the after-effects of a certain disaster and then to evaluate their immediate and far-reaching outcomes’. Four, our urgent task is to foresee the coming disaster and to have a time to take the preventive measures in advance. Five, I distinguish three main archetypes of the ecological wars that I conditionally names as the natural, social and the feedback’s wars conducted by the global SBT-system against natural, social and mixed ecosystems. Six, the time regime of the global SBT-system functioning and of the ecological wars is very important but still ill-investigated issues. Seven, the main resource of any ecological war is the speed of its spreading in time and space and transformation of natural ecosystems. Eight, the current pandemic showed that the systemic approach, interdisciplinary and prognostic researches are the main instruments for coping with the ecological wars. It follows that the sociologists have to learn and widely-use these three theoretical instruments.
