Natural fiber reinforced composites are increasingly being used in various applications area. Therefore, the processing method and physical properties of these composites are very important parameters in product quality and quaranty. This paper focused on the tensile properties, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and water absorption of cogon grass (CG) with low density polyethylene (LDPE)/soya spent flour (SSF) composites. The tensile strength and elongation at break (Eb) of uncompatibilized CG with LDPE/ SSF decreased significantly with increasing of fiber content. However, the Young’s modulus increased with increasing of CG loading. The presence of epoxidized natural rubber (ENR 50) as a compatibilizer increased the tensile strength, Eband Young’s modulus of the composites when compared to uncompatibilized composites. Fourier transform infrared results show distinguishable peaks for compatibilized and uncompatibilized composites. The water absorption for both uncompatibilized and compatibilized composites increased from day 1 until day 21. The presence of ENR 50 as compatibilizer showed lower water absorption percentage compared to uncompatibilized composites.

Abstract This paper describes an intricate pattern of subject placement in Ebang, a Kordofanian language spoken in the Nuba Mountains (Sudan). In this construction, a lexical subject appears within a complex verb form. The lexical subject may consist of a bare noun or a whole noun phrase. The insertion point is immediately before the verb stem but after all inflectional morphology. The initial part of the discontinuous verb form is shown to be not a word but a bound form, suggesting that the notions of morphological word and syntactic atom need not coincide.

SUMMARY BACKGROUND: Epidemiological studies with dietary variables are complex methodologically, being the researcher responsible for anticipating, controlling, reducing and preventing methodological errors. Obesity accounts for almost one-third of the world's population and has consequences for childhood and adolescence. Multifactorial disorder must be faced in several aspects, being food and physical activity, modifiable risk factors. The EBANS aims to perform a diagnosis of the nutritional status of the Brazilian population from 15 to 65 years old, from all regions, and the parameters associated with obesity, with several possibilities of correlating data. METHODOLOGICAL PROCESS: Part of the ELANS study (n = 9218), the EBANS (n = 2000) has a weighted sample and data collection that allows: to evaluate the socioeconomic level of the population; perform a diagnosis of nutritional status (through anthropometric variables); to evaluate food intake (R24h and FFQ for beverages); and evaluate physical activity practice (IPAQ-long and accelerometer). METHODOLOGICAL OPPORTUNITIES: With national coverage, EBANS has the potential to compose regional analyzes, portray the current nutritional epidemiological condition, food consumption and physical activity pattern of the Brazilian population, at different life stages, and may have their data analyzed together or stratified, offering useful subsidies for the formulation of public policies. METHODOLOGICAL CHALLENGES: Each methodological step was designed to reduce errors and biases related to methodological challenges. CAAE REGISTRATION: 31670314.8.0000.5567. Objectives: To date, there is no single medication prescribed to alleviate all the core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD; National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, 2016). Both serotonin reuptake inhibitors and drugs for psychosis possess therapeutic drawbacks when managing anxiety and aggression in ASD. This review sought to appraise the use of propranolol as a pharmacological alternative when managing emotional, behavioural and autonomic dysregulation (EBAD) and other symptoms. Materials and methods: Sixteen reports examined the administration of propranolol in the context of ASD. Results: Sixteen reports broadly covered cognitive domains, neural correlates, and behavioural domains. From the eight single-dose clinical trials, propranolol led to significant improvements in cognitive performance – verbal problem solving, social skills, mouth fixation, and conversation reciprocity; and changes in neural correlates – improvement in semantic networks and functional connectivity. The remaining eight case series and single case reports showed improvements in EBAD, anxiety, aggressive, self-injurious and hypersexual behaviours. Additionally, propranolol significantly improved similar behavioural domains (aggression and self-injury) for those with acquired brain injury. Conclusion: This review indicates that propranolol holds promise for EBAD and cognitive performance in ASD. Given the lack of good quality clinical trials, randomised controlled trials are warranted to explore the efficacy of propranolol in managing EBAD in ASD.

Background The need for energy sources with low greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable production encourages the search for alternative biomass sources. However, the use of biomass fuels faces the problem of storage, transport and lower energy densities. Low-density values can negatively affect energy density, leading to an increase in transportation and storage costs. Use of pellets as alternative biomass source is a way to reduce the volume of biomass by densification, which improves their energy quality. They are produced by diverse biomass resources and mainly from wood materials. In all cases, it is important to evaluate the fuel characteristics, to determine their suitability on the heating system and handling properties. Methods The present study determines and compares data from proximate analysis, calorific values, physical and mechanical properties of wood pellets produced from the common tropical species Acacia wrightii, Ebenopsis ebano and Havardia pallens. Data were obtained from pellets produced from each species chips collected from an experimental plantation and analyzed through ANOVA and Kruskal–Wallis test at 0.05 significance level. Results The results of diameter, length and length/diameter ratio didn’t show statistical differences (p > 0.05) among species. Acacia wrightii showed the highest density (1.2 g/cm3). Values on weight retained and compression test showed statistical differences (p = 0.05) among species. Havardia pallens was more resistant to compression strength than A. wrightii and Ebenopsis ebano. Statistical differences (p < 0.01) were also observed for the volatile matter and calorific value. E. ebano has the lowest volatile matter (72%), highest calorific value (19.6 MJ/kg) as well as the fixed carbon (21%). Discussion The pellets of the species studied have a high energy density, which makes them suitable for both commercial and industrial heating applications.A pellet with low compression resistance tends to disintegrate easily, due to moisture adsorption. The percentages obtained for the resistance index were higher than 97.5%, showing that the pellets studied are high-quality biofuels. Proximate analysis values also indicate good combustion parameters. Pellets of Acacia wrightii and Ebenopsis ebano are the more favorable raw material sources for energy purposes because of their high density, calorific value, low ash content and they also met majority of the international quality parameters.

While technically Eban local garlic farming is efficient where the analysis conducted for 50 respondents shows the efficient average achieved by 92% while the allocation of local garlic farming has not been efficient because of the calculation of NPMx / px > 1.

Poisson ratios of fee and bcc polycrystals are calculated for a variety of atomic models and the theoretical results are compared with experiment. In contrast with previously reported results, it is found that an accurate description of polycrystalline Poisson ratios of metals is obtained from the model in which the binding energy Ebind consists of a structure dependent part Estr and a volume dependent part Evol. Investigations are made of the general, inherent abilities of various subsets of this model to describe experimental polycrystalline Poisson ratios; these subsets include the Cauchy model (i.e. Evol is neglected in Ebind) and the Milstein-Rasky model (i.e. the volume dependent contribution to the bulk modulus χvol is neglected). In addition, specific com putations of polycrystalline Poisson ratios are made for the complete families of bcc and fcc Morse function (Cauchy) crystals and for (non-Cauchy) models (simplified forms of which are suggested by pseudopotential theory for the noble metals).

Likewise, among the native species,E. ebano,P. laevigata,C. hookeri, andA. farnesianatended to show better characteristics in terms of wood volume production in comparison toH. parvifolia,A. schaffneri,C. macrum, andB. celastrina. Results showed a high diversity on the properties studied. The high biomass produced by most of the species considered in this study revealed their great energetic potential when used as wood and firewood or vegetal charcoal.

The effects of global warming increase the frequency and intensity of many climate events such as rainfall. We evaluated the effects of environmental conditions on early stage seedling survival of the native thorn scrub species Caesalpinia mexicana A. Gray, Celtis pallida Torr., Cordia boissieri A. DC., and Ebenopsis ebano (Berland.) Barneby and J.W. Grimes, during the summer of 2009 and 2010. The experimental design had two factors, two levels of rainfall and three microhabitats of thorn scrub: (i) open interspace, (ii) thorn scrub edge and (iii) under the canopy of dense thorn scrub. In dense thorn scrub, seedling survival was higher for Caesalpinia mexicana and Celtis pallida, and for Cordia boissieri and Ebenopsis ebano seedling survival was higher in dense thorn scrub and thorn scrub edge. The effect of rainfall on seedling survival depended on the year. Rainfall in 2010 and dense thorn scrub increased seedling survival of native species. For survival, the limiting factors of microhabitats appear to change across the years. Besides rainfall events, biological aspects like competition and mycorrhiza effects would need to be considered in models of plant establishment.

Chile (Capsicum annuum L.) seeds sown in July for fall transplants in the greenhouse often yield poor stands due to thermoinhibition. To determine cultivar response to high temperature, five jalapeno cultivars and one cayenne cultivar used commercially in Florida and New Mexico were tested. Two seedlots of `Cayenne, Large Red Thick', `Ole', `Jalapeno M', `Mitla', and `Tam Veracruz', and one seedlot of `Ebano' were evaluated on a thermogradient table at a temperature range of 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40°C. Percent germination, mean daily germination, and germination performance index were calculated. Additional seeds were soaked for 24 hours at 25, 30, 35, and 40°C. The exudate was then measured for electrical conductivity and glucose equivalents as an indication of seed leakage. All cultivars exhibited thermoinhibition, but the critical temperature of onset varied among cultivars. `Ebano' had the highest germination performance index across all temperatures among the six cultivars. At 40°C, however, no cultivar exceeded 4.0% germination. There was significant variation in germination performance between seedlots of some cultivars. The electrical conductivity and the number of glucose equivalents leached from the seed varied among cultivars, but did not correlate with decreased germination. Thermoinhibition in chile is probably due to factors other than those associated with membrane leakage.

Jagung merupakan bahan pangan yang penting karena jagung merupakan sumber karbohidrat kedua setelah beras. Benih salah satu komponen penting dalam keberhasilan peningkatan produksi pertanian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis cendawan yang berasosiasi pada benih jagung, dilakukan bulan April sampai bulan Mei 2017 di laboratorium Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Timor. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial. Identifikasi patogen dilakukan dengan karakterisasi morfologi, selain itu dilakukan pengujian daya berkecambah benih dan potensi tumbuh maksimum dengan metode UKDdp. Benih yang digunakan adalah varietas Lokal Putih kecil, varietas lokal putih besar dan hibrida, berasal dari beberapa daerah berdasarkan ketinggian tempat yakni Eban 1000 mdpl, Mamsena 400-800 mdpl, Wini 100-200 mdpl. Hasil identifikasi didapatkan dua genus yaitu Aspergillus sp1, Aspergillus sp2, Aspergillus sp3 dan Fusarium sp, serangan cendawan Aspergillus sp1 tertinggi pada varietas lokal kecil 7,78% dan ketinggian tempat T2 (Wini), Fusarium sp tertinggi pada varietas jagung hibrida 40,00% dan ketinggian tempat tertinggi pada T1 (Eban) 8,67%. Con el fin de determinar si el calentamiento global podría influir en la ampliación altitudinal de hábitat en el noreste de México, se evaluó la germinación y el crecimiento de cuatro especies de plantas en un gradiente de elevación de 90 a 1960 msnm. Los individuos incluyeron tres especies nativas (Cordia boissieri, Ebenopsis ebano y Caesalpinia mexicana) y una introducida, naturalizada en la región (Melia azederach) . Se pusieron a germinar en contenedores, semillas de las cuatro especies durante cuatro veces (primavera 2003, 2004; otoño 2003 y 2004), en cinco elevaciones (90, 350, 520, 1,600 y 1 ,960 msnm). Las tres elevaciones más bajas incluyen el rango de distribución actual de las especies, y es en éstas en donde en general se presentó la mayor germinación para todas las especies. Para C. boissieri fue en las elevaciones de 350, 520 y 1600 msnm. Para E. ebano y C. mexicana se obtuvo en 90, 350, 520 y 1600 msnm, y para M. azederach ocurrió a 90, 350, 520 msnm. Además, tanto el crecimiento de las plántulas en altura, como el número de hojas producidas, fueron en general superiores en las elevaciones con mayor porcentaje de germinación. Los resultados sugieren que las especies estudiadas tienen la capacidad para germinar y crecer por encima de su área de distribución actual.

One of the software for compiling a bibliography automatically can take advantage of the facilities of the Mendeley Desktop application. Mendeley Desktop is a reference management software that helps organize scientific articles, namely in creating citations and bibliography. With this software, writers can manage reading sources that are used as references in compiling their writings. The use of Mendeley Desktop can also be integrated with Microsoft Word, so it can be more easily for writers for each scientific paper. The purpose of holding this training activity is to help the teachers of SMP Swasta Gita Surya Eban in order to utilize of the facilities provided by the software and the citations and references on the Mendeley Desktop so that scientific writing can be done more easily, quickly, and efficiently. From the training results, it was found that the training carried out could add knowledge and solutions to the use of Mendeley Desktop with the evaluation results increase significantly. The writers hope that by holding this training, teachers at SMP Swasta Gita Surya Eban can apply the citation / reference software from Mendeley Desktop in writing scientific papers.

The Korteweg-de Vries equation and the Burgers equation with nonlinear terms of any orders are chosen to show how to apply the exp-function method for these kinds of nonlinear equations. These exact solutions are in full agreement with the previous results obtained by Ebaid and by Zhu.

El hombre en su afán de crear áreas para la producción agropecuaria ha destruido paisajes naturales de un valor inestimable; por tal motivo, es necesario buscar nuevas estrategias para incorporar especies nativas, para recuperarlos. El presente trabajo se realizó en la Facultad de Ciencias Forestales de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, y consistió en la reforestación de un camino de 630 m. Se utilizaron 13 plantas nativas con el objeto de evaluar su comportamiento y valoración en el paisaje. La plantación se estableció en septiembre de 1996 y desde entonces, hasta 2012 se monitoreó la supervivencia, la altura y el diámetro de los árboles. Para la valoración se emplearon dos métodos: multiplicativo o paramétrico y el económico o de capitalización; en el primero, el método suizo, el valor está dado por cuatro índices, y en el segundo por el área basal. Los resultados evdencian una supervivencia del orden de 70%, Pithecellobium pallens y Cordia boissieri registraron los valores más altos. Respecto al diámetro, Pithecellobium ebano Prosopis laevigata y Pithecellobium pallens son, hasta el momento, los que presentan mayor incremento, con valores del orden de 27.60 cm, 27.20 y 24.60 cm, respectivamente. En relación con los métodos de valoración no hay diferencia significativa entre el paramétrico y el de capitalización con $1 493 616.00 y $1 518 226.00, respectivamente; sin embargo, se recomienda el de capitalización por ser más sencillo y objetivo. Prosopis laevigata, Pithecellobium ebano, Pithecellobium pallens y Quercus virginiana ocupan los primeros sitios con los valores más altos.

La biomasa se utiliza para la generación de calor y la preparación de alimentos por aproximadamente dos mil millones de personas en el mundo. En el área metropolitana de Monterrey, Nuevo León el consumo de carbón vegetal con fines recreativos tiene una demanda de 5 500 t mes-1. En México su comercialización se basa en conocimientos empíricos: especie, duración del encendido, producción de chispas y cenizas. Sin embargo, para su exportación se deben cumplir esquemas de calidad. Por lo anterior, en la presente investigación se comparó el rendimiento y calidad del carbón de Prosopis laevigata y Ebenopsis ebano producido en un horno tipo fosa. La calidad se determinó mediante el contenido de humedad, material volátil, cenizas, carbón fijo y poder calorífico, en función de estándares internacionales. Los datos se analizaron con un diseño experimental con arreglo factorial. Se obtuvieron diferencias altamente significativas (p<0.01) en el rendimiento entre las dos especies, lo mismo que para las cenizas y el poder calorífico (p<0.05). Se determinó un rendimiento de 2.8, 2.3 m3t-1, contenido de humedad de 3.6, 3.5%; material volátil de 22.8, 24.9%; porcentaje de cenizas de 2.8, 3.2%; carbón fijo de 70.8, 68.6%, y poder calorífico de 30 241, 29 725 kJ kg-1 para P. laevigata y E. ebano, respectivamente. El rendimiento en los dos casos fue alto, el contenido de humedad y cenizas se estimó dentro de los límites establecidos a nivel mundial. El material volátil y carbón fijo no cumplieron con los porcentajes permitidos en las normas vigentes del comercio exterior.

El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar los parámetros genéticos de las características biométricas del fruto y semillas de Caesalpinia ebano. La investigación se realizó en Montería (Colombia), se seleccionaron diez árboles, y de cada uno diez, frutos tomados al azar. Se realizaron análisis de varianza y estimación de parámetros genéticos para nueve características: peso fresco del fruto, largo del fruto, ancho del fruto, grosor del fruto, número de semillas/fruto, peso de semillas por fruto, peso de una semilla, volumen de una semilla y densidad de una semilla. Se detectaron diferencias estadísticas (p < 0,01) entre árboles, para todas las características, excepto para el ancho del fruto y peso de una semilla; denotando la existencia de variabilidad genética entre los árboles para peso del fruto, largo del fruto, grosor del fruto, número de semillas y densidad de una semilla. El peso y largo del fruto presentaron la heredabilidad media familiar y heredabilidad en el sentido estricto con los valores más altos (h2Fam > 82 % y h2E > 30 %). La ganancia genética esperada fue mayor del 10 % en cinco de las nueve características estudiadas, y mayor del 20 % para número de semillas y peso de las semillas (27,31 y 27,87 %, respectivamente). Los caracteres peso y largo del fruto se podrían transmitir a las generaciones sucesivas, con mayor posibilidad de éxito, mediante la selección fenotípica de árboles.

Hasilnya keragaan usahatani meliputi pengolahan lahan, persiapan bibit, penanaman, pemeliharaan, panen, pasca panen dan pemasaran. Unsur metabolid sekunder yang terdapat dalam bawang putih adalah adsiri, faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap produksi antara lain lahan, benih, tenaga kerja, pengalaman, dan pendidikan. Pendapatan yang diperoleh sebesar 534.429.503/musim tanam. Context. The nitrogen reservoir in planetary systems is a long-standing problem. Some of the N-bearing molecules are probably incorporated into the ice bulk during the cold phases of the stellar evolution, and may be gradually released into the gas phase when the ice is heated, for example in active comets. The chemical nature of the N-reservoir should greatly influence how, when, and in what form N returns to the gas phase, or is incorporated into the refractory material forming planetary bodies. Aims. We present the study of the thermal desorption of two ammonium salts, ammonium formate and ammonium acetate, from a gold surface and from a water ice substrate. Methods. Temperature-programmed desorption experiments and Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy were conducted to investigate the desorption behavior of ammonium salts. Results. Ammonium salts are semi-volatile species releasing neutral species as major components upon desorption, namely ammonia and the corresponding organic acid (HCOOH and CH3COOH), at temperatures higher than the temperature of thermal desorption of water ice. Their desorption follows a first-order Wigner-Polanyi law. We find the first-order kinetic parameters A = 7.7 ± 0.6 × 1015 s−1 and Ebind = 68.9 ± 0.1 kJ mol−1 for ammonium formate and A = 3.0 ± 0.4 × 1020 s−1 and Ebind = 83.0 ± 0.2 kJ mol−1 for ammonium acetate. The presence of a water ice substrate does not influence the desorption kinetics. Ammonia molecules locked in salts desorb as neutral molecules at temperatures much higher than previously expected, and that are usually attributed to refractory materials. Conclusions. The ammonia snow line has a smaller radius than the water snow line. As a result, the NH3/H2O ratio content in Solar System bodies can be a hint to where they formed and subsequently migrated.

We show experimentally that dislocations in Si crystals can generate some unknown vacancy complexes Vxtrailin their slip planes during their motion at 600°C. Most of these “dislocation trail defects” are not electrically active but can be detected by their reaction with gold atoms during in-diffusion experiments. It was also shown that contrary to gold, the Vxtrail-complexes do not react with interstitial Ni atoms. Abstract Due to land use change mainly for induced agriculture, Tamaulipan thornscrubin northeast Mexico has been cleared and transformed into small patches of vegetation as small as isolated trees surrounded by agricultural fields. In this study, we explored how tree isolation or growing inside a fragment of remnant vegetation influence diversity of coleopterans in two plant species (Prosopis laevigata (Humb. &Bonpl.exWilld.) M.C. Johnst. (mesquite) and Ebenopsis ebano (Berl.) Barneby (Texas ebony). We found 72 coleopteran morphospecies; fifteen occurred mainly in remnant fragments and ten mainly in isolated trees. There were more insects under isolated mesquites than under those immersed in remnant fragments, while in Texas ebony the highest beetle density for isolated trees coincided with periods of bean and maize in surrounding agriculture.

Objective: The increased life expectancy of people living with HIV has brought about an increase in serodiscordant couples, in which there is risk of HIV transmission. Therefore, interventions that promote sexual health and reduce risk are critical to develop for these couples. Given the disproportionate burden of HIV among populations of color, it is also critical that these interventions are culturally congruent. The EBAN intervention for African American serodiscordant couples recognizes the centrality of culture in shap­ing sexual behaviors and helps couples develop intimacy and positive prevention behaviors. The analytic objective of our study was to examine the knowledge and awareness gained by participants in the intervention.Participants: Participants (n=17) who com­pleted at least half of the eight intervention sessions.Methods: Brief post-implementation semi-structured interviews were conducted be­tween January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. Team-based, targeted content analysis focused on knowledge and awareness gains.Results: Participants described learning about sexual health, expanded sexual options, and sexual communication. The “EBAN café,” a component that gives couples a menu of options for safer sex behaviors, was particularly popular. Partici­pants also noted the value of learning how to communicate with one another about their sexual health-related concerns and preferences. They appreciated the “cultural stuff” that was infused throughout the ses­sions, including the emphasis on learning from one another as couples.Conclusions: Couples at risk for HIV trans­mission benefit from strengthening skills and knowledge related to healthy sexual­ity. A behavioral intervention that aligns with cultural values and imparts culturally congruent sexual health information appeals to couples who seek ways to enhance their intimacy and sexual options while also re­ducing risk. <p>Fodder shrubs and trees have both economic as well as ecological values in most extensive systems of arid and semiarid regions.</p><p> As hypothesis, there is a relationship between the litterfall pattern and the foliar biomass production in forest plantations of semiarid areas, depending on the different seasons and species.</p><p> The studied species were: <em>Acacia berlandieri </em>(Benth.), <em>Acacia wrightii </em>(Benth.), <em>Ebenopsis ebano </em>(Berl.)<em> </em>Barneby,<em> Havardia pallens </em>(Benth.) Britton &amp; Rose and <em>Helietta parvifolia </em>(Gray) Benth.</p><p> The foliar biomass was evaluated seasonally, from the dry weight of a representative branch of each species. The litterfall was collected every 15 days through litter traps installed under tree canopies, in experimental plantations of 30 years old, in the semi-arid zone of northeastern Mexico.</p><p> There were highly significant differences (p&lt;0.01) both among<strong> </strong>species as seasons in the foliar biomass values, whereas there were no significant differences (P&gt;0.05) among species in litterfall, but highly significant differences (P&lt;0.01) among seasons. The foliar biomass reached the maximum production in summer (9029 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) with <em>E. ebano</em>, while the lowest value (103 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) was recorded with <em>A. wrightii</em> in winter. The litterfall greatest accumulation occurred in winter (296 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) with <em>A. wrightii</em>. A significant linear correlation (R<sup>2</sup>=63%) was determined between accumulation of litterfall and foliar biomass production.</p> As conclusion, the litterfall pattern is related to the foliar biomass production, depending on the seasons and species. That constitutes a practical tool for the management of the forest ecosystems in semiarid areas.
