This article reviews the memoirs of Phạm Duy, a famous Vietnamese composer, who in the late 1930s and 1940s composed some of the first modern Vietnamese songs. His memoirs describe his time with the anti-French Resistance, his break with it in 1950, and his years in Saigon and the United States. My review focuses on curious aspects of these memoirs: Phạm Duy's careful listing of his many love affairs; his insistence that he needed lovers to compose songs; and his failure to acknowledge that he profited from a culture that glorifies the self-sacrifice of women. After considering whether Phạm Duy's behaviour as depicted in his memoirs conforms to cultural norms for Vietnamese male artists, I argue that it is best seen as, in Judith Butler's expression, a ‘hyperbolic exhibition’ of the natural. I conclude by speculating about how Phạm Duy and his memoirs may be viewed in future years.

The objective of this research is to characterize the effects of heat treatment such as quenching, tempering and TiN coating on mechanical and physical properties of duylos 2510 steel. These mechanical properties include wear rate, hardness, impact toughness, whereas physical properties are microstructures. Duylos 2510 steel is a cold work tool steel and has chemical composition (wt %) of 1C; 0,6 Cr; 0,1 V; 1 Mn; 0,25 Si and 0,6 W.Quenching process has been conducted by heating the specimens on austenite temperature of 800 °C with the soaking time of 30 minutes and then cooling these specimens in oil medium. Tempering process was done at temperatures of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 dan 600 °C with holding time of 2 hours.TiN coating has been deposited on substrates by sputtering technique of Physical Vapor Deposition at temperatures of 100, 150, 200 and 250 °C with sputtering time of 45 minutes. The mechanical and physical properties have been characterized by wear test, Vickers micro hardness test, Charpy impact test, and metallography test. This research was performed at room temperature and the major parameters of this research were tempering and sputtering temperatures.The results show that tempering temperature variations give significant modification of mechanical properties. In general, the Vickers micro-hardness decreases if tempering temperatures of the specimen increase. The highest Vickers micro-hardness of TiN coatings is 290 HV0,01 for the specimen having sputtering temperature of 200 °C. Wear rate and impact energy increase if tempering temperatures increase. The results also show that the Vickers micro-hardness of coated specimens is higher than the micro Vickers hardness of non-coated specimens

Poor financial management can create chaos in the financial life of an individual or household. Excessive debt, financial crisis, mental stress, and limited investment in education and health are possible outcomes. The inability to achieve financial goals is a serious consequence. Therefore, wise financial management practices are essential to maintain financial stability and well-being in the long run. This activity aims to provide socialization and education in household financial management. The activity was carried out in Duyu's residence with 50 participants. The method used was a form of presentation and discussion with participants. The output of the activity is increasing community understanding of household financial management that can be implemented in realizing smart and effective households.

Human body is the basement for people’s existence. All human consciousness seems to be resulted from their body. Although through Nguyen Duy’s writing career, the poet didn’t intend to use body’s language as one of means of expression. AbstractThe 18S rDNA of 19 populations of Meloidogyne spp. was amplified and directly sequenced. The region of mitochondrial DNA, located in the 3′ portion of the gene that codes for cytochrome oxidase subunit II (COII) through a portion of the 16S rRNA (lRNA) gene, from 16 of these populations was cloned and sequenced. Heteroplasmic sequences were identified from both rDNA and mtDNA regions for several taxa. Several sequences sampled from nominal taxa differed from previously published accounts. Phylogenetic trees based on alignments of these sequences were constructed using distance, parsimony and likelihood optimality criteria. For 18S rDNA data, three main clades were identified. One well supported clade (86–91% bootstrap) included the most common and widely disseminated species, e.g.,M. arenaria, M. javanica and M. incognita, some recently described or redescribed species (M. floridensis, M. paranaensis, and M. ethiopica) plus numerous unidentified isolates. All mitotic parthenogenetic species, except for M. oryzae, were included in this clade. Other, less well supported clades included the amphimictic and facultative meiotic species M. hapla, M. microtyla, M. maritima and M. duytsi. One such clade comprised three meiotic parthenogens (M. exigua, M. graminicola and M. chitwoodi) and M. oryzae. This clade was moderately supported (77% bootstrap) but the relationships within this clade were poor. For mitochondrial DNA data, only the species in clade I from rDNA analysis, and M. hapla were analysed. These species formed a well supported clade (100% bootstrap) to the exclusion of M. mayaguensis and M. hapla. The addition of taxa and mtDNA data to publicly available records improved the discrimination sensitivity of species and atypical, non-identified, isolates.

Abstract By concluding a contract, parties intend to allocate the contractual risk between them. This means that parties must anticipate any future adverse result and determine whether a party will have to cover any loss incurred by the other party as a result of performance or, more often, bad performance. In sales contracts, for example, parties may decide to exclude any liability for defects of goods, especially when selling used goods or for other reasons, or at least to limit liability for some defects or to limit types of possible claims. Similarly, in mergers and acquisitions, parties very strictly determine what is known by the seller in a disclosure letter and give the buyer access to some information in a data room prior to the conclusion of the contract to limit liability to the unknown and the non-disclosed. For each party, much of contractual drafting boils down to limiting risk to the greatest extent possible, or at least to ensure compensation for any risk incurred. If parties are on an equal footing, this may lead to an equitable allocation of risk and a balanced contractual liability regime. Contractual limitations of liability are, therefore, part of this process of adequate allocation of risks. In this contribution, I will briefly address three issues. First, I will look at which principles are applicable to the validity of limitations of contractual liability (I) and then determine to what extent these principles apply to tort claims (II). This will finally lead me to determine whether the Principles of European Tort Law (PETL) need to be supplemented by a further rule dealing with the validity of contractual clauses limiting liability in tort (III).

AbstractIn 1986 B. W. F. van Riemsdijk published an article on the painter/draughtsman Jan Cornelisz. van't Woudt, better known as Woudanus. As well as providing biographical particulars, the article dwelt on some of the artist's paintings and various copper engravings after his designs. Archive research enables us to supplement these biographical details. Jan Cornelisz. is thought to have been born around 1565-1570 in Het Woudt, a village near Delft. He was probably a pupil of the Delft artist Jacob Willemsz. Delff the Elder, whose influence is most apparent in his work. Shortly after his marriage in 1594, Woudanus moved to Leiden, where his bride came from and where Isaac Claesz. van Swanenburg 1537-1614) was a leading painter of the day. For some tweny years Woudanus worked as a painter and print designer in Leiden, where he died in 1615. Of the engravings after his designs, four depicting university institutions - executed by Willem van Swanenburg - are best known. One signed painting by Woudanus is extant: The Surrender of Weinsberg of 1603, in the Lakenhal Museum in Leiden (fig. 1). This large painting corresponds remarkably with the stage directions for a play on the same subject written by Jacob Duym for the local dramatic society, or rederijkerskamer, published three years previously. Woudanus' painting was undoubtedly influenced by the directions in Duym's play. Among the figures in the foreground (figs. 2 and 3) are several portraits, including likenesses of the painter, Dirck Volckertsz. Coornhert and, presumably, Jacob Duym. The rendering of The Surrender of Weinsberg displays a number of special characteristics, such as the use of light and dark patches and the depiction of the hands. There are strong grounds for attributing the blazon of the Leiden Chamber of Rhetoric, D'Oraigne Lelie, of 1606 (fig.4), to Woudanus. Archivalia (see the Appendix) and prints (figs. 5 and 6) show that the artist also painted portraits. A systematic investigation into Leiden portraiture of the late 16th and early 17th century yielded portraits with the same characteristics as The Surrcnder of Weinsberg and which can duly be attributed to Woudanus. The portraits in question are of the Leiden merchant and regent, Huyg van Nes, and his wife, painted in 1606 (figs. 7 and 8), and of another citizen of Leiden, a dyer and former mayor, Claes Willemsz. van Warmondt, and his wife, painted in 1607 (figs. 9 and 10). In view of the discrepancy in size, the latter two portraits are not companion pieces; each is probably half of another pair painted that year in a different format but otherwise identical. The four portraits bear a strong stylistic resemblance to the work of Woudanus' putative teacher Delff. A fifth portrait of 1596, very likely a female member of the Stalpert van Wiele family (fig. 11), may be added to the group with certainty. Differently set up but technically entirely in keeping with Woudanus' work is the profile portrait of the famous scholar Josephus Justus Scaliger in the Leiden Senate Room, dating from 1608 or 1609 (fig. 12). Although not a particularly important artist, Jan Cornelisz. van 't Woudt played a significant role in Leiden between 1596 and 1615 as a history and portrait painter and as a designer of prints depicting a variety of subjects.

This essay considers the effect of #OwnVoices on autistic literary representation by analyzing how autistic authors use paratexts to prescribe for some readers ways of understanding autistic-authored texts while temporarily refraining from prescribing a particular method for others, allowing readers with opposing ideologies to first read the narrative before they encounter the more didactic elements of the text. Building on Gerrard Genette's theorization of the paratext, this essay compares the use of text and paratext in two works of autistic-authored fiction, Corinne Duyvis's On the Edge of Gone and Jen Wilde's Queens of Geek, to that of Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, a work of allistic-authored YA fiction. The contrast between these two kinds of texts reveals how #ownvoices texts foreground the positionality of the author in ways that enable rather than foreclose discussions about the ethical representation of autistic people.
