This study determines the effect of neighbourhood characteristics on residents’ satisfaction in Doya area of Bauchi metropolis to reveal the significant relationship of the effect. Field data were gathered using a structured, close-ended questionnaire containing 5 Likert scales administered to the household head of Doya area of Bauchi metropolis using simple random sampling. A total number of one hundred and twenty-five (125) valid questionnaires were used for the analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean score and frequency table) and linear regression method through SPSS. The study found that electricity, water, drainage, availability of schools, availability of hospital, economic activities, neighbourhood security, sanitary services, recreational facilities and accessibility are factors affecting resident’s satisfaction. It further found that satisfaction with proximity to work, water, and educational facilities were striking the highest mean score. Finally linear regression model reveals that neighbourhood condition significantly affects resident’s satisfaction. The study suggests a need for the government to provide more social amenities in the study area. Proper routine management of social amenities should be done to enhance the resident’s satisfaction in the study area.

Groundwater development is very important in the survival of the human. This research was carried out in a newly developing area with population increase and agricultural development hence the need for this study. The objective is to carry out a geophysical investigation, delineate aquiferous zones, and groundwater potential for the study area. An electrical resistivity method for groundwater investigation using the Vertical electrical sounding (VES) technique was adopted. The survey involved three profiling and seven VES points using the Schlumberger configuration to delineate the subsurface lithologies and aquiferous zones within the study area. It was observed that the study area is composed of highly weathered and fractured rocks; hence there is a tendency for groundwater migration and accumulation in the weathered fractured horizons. Two geo-electric sections and a basement map were produced. The area generally showed four to five lithology units; which include topsoil, laterite, weathered basement, fractured basement, and the fresh basement. The thickness of the overburden ranges from 0 - 12.8m and the saturated layers have resistivity values ranging from 19.7Ωm - 849.8Ωm with depths to water range of 10.5m – 61.1m respectively. VES points 2, 4, and 5 showed good potential for groundwater with aquiferous unconfined zones ranging depths of about 45.0m - 60.0m. It was also deduced that areas, where thick overburden complemented with the presence of weathering and fractures within the study area, are zones for groundwater accumulation.

This study presents a list of land snails and slugs found on limestone hills in the District of Bau, the state of Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo. Systematic and random sampling for land snails was conducted at eight limestone outcrops, namely, Gunung Stulang, Padang Pan, Gunung Kapor, Gunung Lobang Angin, Gunung Doya, Gunung Batu, Bukit Sekunyit and Gunung Sebayat. A total of 122 land snail species was documented with photographs of each species. The speciation of toxic metals of Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Pb, Zn, Ni and As in Kwanar – Doya Shooting site of the Nigerian Army, Military Training, Base Camp, Kachia, Kaduna State, Nigeria was investigated. The soil physico-chemical parameters, total metal content and sequential extraction methods were determined in duplicates using standard methods. The pH ranged from 3.93–4.51, showing the high acidity of the soil and electro -conductivity gave a mean value of 0.11 ms / cm showing the poor nutrient value of the soil). While the mean total metals values were Zinc: 28.94 mg/kg, Nickel: 13.45mg/kg, Manganese: 78: 12 mg/kg, Lead: 40.6 mg/kg, Arsenic: 305 mg/kg, Chromium: 49.32 mg/kg, Cobalt: 162:50 mg/kg and copper: 7.3 mg/kg. All the metals were above the W.H.O permissible limit for toxic metals in soils except Zinc and Nickel. The sequential partitioning and distribution and variation of toxic metals in the various fractions of the Nigerian Defence Academy Shooting Range soil were in the following order: Cobalt: Residual > Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable > Organic > Fe – Mn Oxide Arsenic: Fe – Mn Oxide > Bound to carbonate > Residual > Organic > Chromium: Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable > Fe – Mn Oxide > Organic > Residual. Nickel: Fe – Mn Oxide > Exchangeable > Bound to carbonate > Residual > Organic. Manganese: Residual > Fe – Mn Oxide > Bound to carbonate > Organic > Exchangeable. Lead: Residual > Organic > Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable > Fe – Mn Oxide. Zinc: Fe – Mn Oxide > Residual > Organic > Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable. A 3 Axis MCL6 Magnetometer was used to gather the magnetic data. The information was gathered from a 1 km by 500 m area along eight profile lines with a length of roughly 1000 m each. Each profile is spaced roughly 250m apart from the other. The magnetic investigation was created in a way that provided clear definition of the depth to phenomena in the region. Measurements of the magnetic strengths at discrete spots along traverses spaced consistently throughout the area of interest were required by the data collecting approach in order to sufficiently cover the segment utilized to ascertain the structure and deformation analysis of the study area. The geological conditions in the shallow subsurface provide the highest frequency events of interest, whereas magnetic property contrasts at or beneath the basement surface produce the lowest frequency occurrences. Significant lateral variations and contrasts in the shallow formations’ magnetic characteristics are produced either singly or as a result of a particular combination of faulting, deposition, and mineralization linked to displacement and deformation of the structural system.

The thermodynamic, kinetic, and structural properties of Ln3+ complexes with the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− ligand and its amide derivative DO3A-BACE4− (modelling the case where DO3A-ACE4− ligand binds to vector molecules) have been studied in order to confirm the usefulness of the corresponding Gd3+ complexes as relaxation labels of targeted MRI contrast agents. The stability constants of the Mg2+ and Ca2+ complexes of DO3A-ACE4− and DO3A-BACE4− complexes are lower than for DOTA4− and DO3A3−, while the Zn2+ and Cu2+ complexes have similar and higher stability than for DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-BACE)− complexes increase from Ce3+ to Gd3+ but remain practically constant for the late Ln3+ ions (represented by Yb3+). The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-ACE)4− and Ln(DO3A-BACE)4− complexes are several orders of magnitude lower than those of the corresponding DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The formation rate of Eu(DO3A-ACE)− is one order of magnitude slower than for Eu(DOTA)−, due to the presence of the protonated amine group, which destabilizes the protonated intermediate complex. This protonated group causes the Ln(DO3A-ACE)− complexes to dissociate several orders of magnitude faster than Ln(DOTA)− and its absence in the Ln(DO3A-BACE)− complexes results in inertness similar to Ln(DOTA)− (as judged by the rate constants of acid assisted dissociation). The 1H NMR spectra of the diamagnetic Y(DO3A-ACE)− and Y(DO3A-BACE)− reflect the slow dynamics at low temperatures of the intramolecular isomerization process between the SA pair of enantiomers, R-Λ(λλλλ) and S-Δ(δδδδ). The conformation of the Cα-substituted pendant arm is different in the two complexes, where the bulky substituent is further away from the macrocyclic ring in Y(DO3A-BACE)− than the amino group in Y(DO3A-ACE)− to minimize steric hindrance. The temperature dependence of the spectra reflects slower ring motions than pendant arms rearrangements in both complexes. Although losing some thermodynamic stability relative to Gd(DOTA)−, Gd(DO3A-BACE)− is still quite inert, indicating the usefulness of the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− in the design of GBCAs and Ln3+-based tags for protein structural NMR analysis.

This research article is related to the development of settlement by Aryan people in the Terai region of Nepal. Aryan people had entered the Terai region of Nepal during the Vedic period. In ancient times, various states were developed in the region of Nepal. The Mithila state of the Eastern Terai, the Ramgram state western part of the Gandaki River and the Kapilvastu state west of the present Butwal region were developed in before the Christian era. Most of the people in those states also migrated from India. Even in the middle Age, a state called Tirahoot or Doya was developed in the eastern Terai region of Nepal. Although this kingdom came to an end in the 14thcentury AD. After the conquest of the eastern Terai region by the Sen Dynasty the king of Palpa, the three kingdoms of Makwanpur, Chaudandi and Vijaypur remained in that region till the time of unification by Prithvi Narayan Shah, the king of Gorkha. After the unification of Nepal, the ancient and medieval independent Terai regions were automatically included in the Kingdom of Nepal. The article clarifies that there has been continuous settlement in the Terai region of Nepal from ancient period to the present.

En esta investigación se examina la creación de la idea de negocio llamada Doña Hermelinda. Esta idea surgió debido a la coyuntura actual en la que se encuentra el país, adaptando el producto a las necesidades actuales. La investigación nos ha permitido confirmar la viabilidad de nuestro proyecto incursionando nuestra marca en el mercado de Lima. Para ello hemos utilizado un canal de ventas principal es cual fue las redes sociales del proyecto, lo cual nos permitió obtener resultados satisfactorios expresados en las ventas realizadas. Luego de pasar por un proceso de validación de problema, de idea de negocio y concierge, se procedió a realizar los planes a futuro respectivos lo cual se concluyó en la realización del plan financiero. Los resultados de nuestra investigación se pueden resumir en que nuestro VAN es de 139,073 con un retorno en el año 3 y nuestro TIR es de 37.21% lo cual demuestra la viabilidad del proyecto.This research examines the creation of the business idea called Doña Hermelinda. This idea arose due to the current situation in which the country finds itself, adapting the product to current needs. The research has allowed us to confirm the viability of our project by entering our brand in the Lima market. For this we have used a main sales channel which was the project's social networks, which obtained satisfactory results expressed in the sales made. After going through a process of validation of the problem, the business idea and the concierge, the selected future plans were carried out, which was concluded in the realization of the financial plan. The results of our research can be summarized in that our NPV is 139,073 with a return in year 3 and our IRR is 37.21% which shows the viability of the project.

La finalitat de la tesi rau en cercar coneixement sobre la transició de la jubilació de dones jubilades, i aportar aquest coneixement a la disciplina infermera per tal que els seus professionals puguin establir criteris i dissenyar programes de salut específics que millorin les cures infermeres que se’ls poden oferir, en aquesta etapa de la vida, des de l’Atenció Primària de Salut (APS). Es planteja com a objectiu descriure la jubilació de les dones que han participat en l’estudi, i per fer-ho des d’aquest horitzó d’una futura atenció infermera, calia analitzar el elements identificats que caracteritzen el seu procés a la llum de referents teòrics que, entre d’altres, contemplessin la perspectiva infermera, d’aquí que un dels punts importants del marc teòric hagi estat la Teoria de les Transicions de Meleis.
L’estudi està acotat geogràficament a Catalunya, i en concret es circumscriu a la ciutat de Barcelona. S’ha seleccionat aquesta ciutat per la representativitat de les seves dades, ja que, segons l’anuari d’envelliment de Catalunya (2004), la taxa de sobreenvelliment al nostre país es concentra sobretot en els municipis de més de 500.000 habitants, i un total del 30% es localitzen només a la ciutat de Barcelona.
La recerca s’aborda des del paradigma qualitatiu en estar orientat vers la comprensió i interpretació dels significats i accions des de la pròpia perspectiva de les dones jubilades. En el procés de recollida de les dades, la tècnica dels grups de discussió ha estat el nucli central del treball de camp. L’anàlisi de les dades s’ha realitzat mitjançant el procediment de l’Anàlisi de Contingut en la seva concepció més tradicional.La finalidad de la tesis es obtener conocimiento sobre la transición de la jubilación de mujeres jubiladas, y aportar este conocimiento a la disciplina enfermera para que sus profesionales puedan establecer criterios y diseñar programas de salud específicos que mejoren los cuidados enfermeros que se les pueden ofrecer, en esta etapa de la vida, desde la Atención Primaria de Salud (APS). Se plantea como objetivo describir la jubilación de las mujeres que han participado en el estudio, y para hacerlo desde el horizonte de una futura atención enfermera, era necesario analizar los elementos identificados que caracterizan este proceso a la luz de referentes teóricos que, entre otros, contemplen la perspectiva enfermera, de aquí que uno de los puntos importantes del marco teórico haya sido la Teoría de las Transiciones de Meleis. El estudio está acotado geográficamente en Cataluña, y en concreto se circunscribe a la ciudad de Barcelona. Se ha seleccionado esta ciudad por la representatividad de sus datos, ya que, según el anuario de envejecimiento de Cataluña (2004), la tasa de sobre envejecimiento en nuestro país se concentra sobre todo en los municipios de más de 500.000 habitantes, y un total del 30% se localizan en la ciudad de Barcelona. La investigación se aborda desde el paradigma cualitativo al orientarse a la comprensión e interpretación de los significados y acciones desde la propia perspectiva de las mujeres jubiladas. En el proceso de recogida de los datos, la técnica de los grupos de discusión ha sido el núcleo central del trabajo de campo. El análisis de los datos se ha realizado mediante el procedimiento del Análisis de Contenido en su concepción más tradicional.

This research considers the hypothesis that eugenic ideology still influences social work practice in contemporary Britain. Exploring the issues through a feminist perspective by utilizing a narrative approach with individuals with learning disabilities. For many people with learning disabilities access to 'Human Rights' is rather elusive and this work seeks to examine this through the lens of eugenic ideology and a Bourdieusian approach to social work. The purpose being to ascertain if eugenic ideology is still present, if only through the Bourdieusian concept of "doxa", if so how does this affect the life choices and human rights of the people in the research. Based on the 'lived experiences' of a number of individuals with learning disabilities, all of whom were members of a self-advocacy group in England. All participants had previously been involved as service users in the selection of Social Work students for a London university and were contributors to the programme in this capacity over a period of several years. Involvement of participants in the research with the self-advocacy group was by open invitation to the group members, and individual 'life stories ' were documented through recorded interviews by the researcher over a period of several months. Utilizing a narrative approach to the life stories from a feminist perspective the experiences were examined against the historical backdrop of eugenics, articles of the Human Rights Act and Bourdieu's theory of practice. The findings show oppression, inequality and a lack of 'Human Rights' experienced by the participants, this against a policy background of 'Valuing People' and 'Personalisation' which both set out to promote strategies of social inclusion and real opportunities for people with learning disabilities. The 'caring ' professions including social work are implicated in the continuing and ongoing oppression and symbolic violence of people with learning disabilities. Whilst the terminology of 'eugenics' is no longer an acceptable topic of conversation, the impact of the ideology continues to permeate the ‘collective unconsciousness' (doxa) of many including those who are involved in the decision making processes of individuals identified as learning disabled. The implications for practice is that awareness of the pernicious effects of the eugenic movement need to be taught as part of the history of social work and included in the curriculum, if we are to avoid repeating the horrors of the history of the eugenic movement. By utilizing Bourdieu's concepts of habitus, capital and field, together with doxa and hysteresis it is possible to arrive at a new model of Social Work practice to address discrimination and to promote anti oppressive practice. The "Hysteresis Wheel', is a model developed as a result of this research.

The present universe in this work reveals a world that escapes the usual standards of morality imposed by the epoch system, the dictatorship.
Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar o romance, Dona Flor e seus dois maridos, escrito por Jorge Amado e publicado em 1966. A análise tem como suporte conceitual personagem, sonho e hibridização, conceitos articulados com a carnavalização da narrativa literária, fruto dos estudos de Mikhail Bakhtin, Roberto DaMatta, Affonso Romano de Sant Anna, Georges Bataille e Luis Alberto Warat e Luis Alberto Warat entre outros, que contribuem para a compreensão do mundo às avessas , centrado na pesquisa dos elementos carnavalizantes na obra em questão e representado por meio das personagens: Vadinho, Dona Flor, Teodoro e Dona Rozilda. O universo presente nesta obra em estudo revela um mundo que foge aos padrões habituais de moralidade, impostos pelo sistema da época, a ditadura.

We are inviting you to the theatre ? in year 1983. TV is very important for popularisation of the theatre. Thanks to the TV screens theatre performances can reach even the remotest parts of our country. Many viewer knows theatre only through a TV screen.

The working hours, as a very important life part of most of the economically active people, are a significant indicator of the job market's flexibility. The first part of this thesis deals with the economic analysis of an individual person's time, forming of the labour supply and demand, and State's interference with job market. Afterwards follows the outline of the historical development of working hours, with the origins and progression of a regulation of this area. The third part is focusing on the legal form of working hours in the Czech Republic, including regulation of breaks, working hours' set out, privilege leave and special arrangements for a certain groups of employees. The next part analyses unusual working modes that are helping to create a more flexible job market and more job opportunities, such as part-time work or labour time account. The thesis includes a part where is being compared regulation of the working hours with the world, from the point of view of certain international institutions such as the World Bank. A special emphasis is placed on the confrontation with countries of the European Union. The last part deals with the analysis of the contemporary adjustment of working hours in the European Union, which greatly influences the competitiveness of the job market in the EU.

Dado que los streamers generan ingresos en relación con su audiencia, mientras mayor sea esta y esté más conectada con ella mayor probabilidad habrá de que genere mayores ingresos. Por ende, surge un nuevo modelo de negocio que requiere de una gestión reputacional para construir esta audiencia. Para ello, se necesita un primer análisis del contexto peruano desde la percepción que mantienen los jugadores de Dota 2 peruanos frente a los streamers peruanos de Dota 2. Por ello, este trabajo utiliza el paradigma naturalista/interpretativo que estudia al público en su contexto natural, es decir los gamers y el Dota 2. El diseño para este sería fenomenológico pues se busca entender la percepción (reputación) del streamer peruano desde el punto de vista de los jugadores de Dota 2 en general. Finalmente, se usa un enfoque cualitativo para obtener las opiniones de los usuarios que juegan Dota 2 sobre los streamers peruanos, con el uso de entrevistas semiestructuradas para alinearlas en los 3 aspectos para medir reputación: sólida dimensión axiológica, comportamiento comprometido y calidad de servicio.The gaming industry has led to the possibility of economically subsisting on streaming. Since streamers generate income in relation to their audience, the larger their audience and the more connected they are, the greater probability of generating more income will exist. Therefore, a new business model emerges that requires reputational management to build this audience. To do this, a first analysis of the Peruvian context is needed from the perception that Peruvian Dota 2 players maintain compared to Peruvian Dota 2 streamers. That’s why, this work uses the naturalistic paradigm /interpretive that studies the public in its natural context, that is, the gamers in their gameplay and the design for this would be phenomenological because it seeks to understand the perception (reputation) of the Peruvian streamer from the point of view of Dota 2 players in general. Finally, a qualitative approach is used to obtain the opinions of the users who play Dota 2 on the Peruvian streamers, with the use of semi-structured interviews to align them in the 3 aspects to measure reputation: solid axiological dimension, committed behavior and quality of service.

The thesis presented is a study of some women's movements which claim a recovery of the female body from a feminist and ecologist standpoint and which are currently spreading their influence. It provides a summary of the different aspects that embrace these international movements and their growing influence in Catalonia. It is intended to reflect on the ambivalence, but also the potential of these resistance movements in the corrent medical, educational and socioeconomic model. The many interviews that are part of the text set different shades to complete the mosaic portrait of this reality. It is a qualitative analysis which gives voice to different women involved in some aspects of the moviment studied in this thesis, either as professionals or as users: the female body, the menstrual cycle, women's circles and motherhood. The results obtained highlight the fact that the link between environmentalism, feminism and corporeality not only involves changes towards new practices at individual and family levels but also claims a global economic decline in order to achieve greater attention to life and its cycles. If these new attitudes are not favored from the environment, the result may be a source of physical and psychological exhaustion for some women.La tesi que es presenta constitueix un estudi d'alguns moviments de dones que s'estan difonent actualment i que reclamen recuperar el cos femení des d'una perspectiva feminista i ecologista. S'ofereix un compendi dels diferents aspectes que abracen aquests moviments d'abast internacional i de creixent influència a Catalunya. Així, es pretén reflexionar sobre les ambivalències, però també les potencialitats d'aquests moviments de resistència a l'actual model mèdic, educatiu i socioeconòmic. Les múltiples entrevistes que formen part del text estableixen diferents matisos i completen el mosaic del retrat d'aquesta realitat. Es tracta d'una anàlisi qualitativa en què es dóna veu a diferents dones que participen en alguns dels aspectes del moviment que s'estudien en aquesta tesi, ja sigui com a professionals o com a usuàries: cos femení, cicle menstrual, cercles de dones i maternitat. Els resultats que s'han obtingut subratllen la vinculació entre l'ecologisme, el feminisme i la corporalitat que no només passa per canvis en noves pràctiques a nivell individual i familiar sinó també per una proposta global de decreixement econòmic per una major atenció a la vida i als seus cicles, ja que si des de l'entorn no s'afavoreixen, aquestes actituts poden arribar a suposar una font d'esgotament físic i psicològic per a algunes dones.

Hypertension is associated with increased endothelial permeability. This has been previously associated with endothelial desquamation or alterations in junctional architecture.To determine if this increase in endothelial permeability was associated with changes in the basement membrane, especially the heperan sulphate (HS) PG, ruthenium red-stained sections of the superior mesenteric arteries of DOCA-NaCl treated rats were examined by transmission electron microscopy. After 3 weeks of treatment, some rats were hypertensive (DOCA-H), but some remained normotensive(DOCA-N). The intimal PG distribution was compared between DOCA-H, DOCA-N, and untreated normotensive controls. Compared to untreated controls, in DOCA-H arteries there was a reduction in basement membrane, including HS, and a small increase in other PGs. In DOCA-N arteries there was a much smaller change in PGdisribution. In the DOCA-H rats, there was evidence of increased endothelial permeability as shown by sub-endothelial oedema, and an increase in the wet/dryweight ratio of the kidneys.It is therefore possible that hypertension induces changes in endothelial cell metabolism which affect the production or maintenance of the basement membrane. Since the changes were not observed in the DOCA-Narteries they are not a result of the treatment. HS is generally accepted to be involved in the control of endothelial permeability, thus the observed loss of HS from hypertensive arteries may result in the increased endothelial permeability.Supported by The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

The Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is the latest regulation issued by the European Union to address the financial sector's growing reliance on technology and manage the associated cyber security risks. DORA sets the whole framework and extends the requirements for financial sector resilience not only to financial institutions themselves, but also extends the security requirements to suppliers of critical ICT services. This paper nalyses the main issues of implementation starting with just determining whether a company is subject to DORA through to the actual implementation and the impact of DORA on internal processes, capabilities and more. The key problems associated with the implementation of DORA can be clearly considered to be the financial and time complexity of the implementation, the short timeframe for implementation, the degree of impact of DORA on the internal processes of companies and the need for significant changes within IT, IT process, IT Risk Management and especially the lack of experts with adequate knowledge and experience.

Doha experienced a remarkable transformation since oil and natural gas exportation began in the mid-twentieth century. Rapid urbanization and globalization ('process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwide involving goods, services, data, technology, and capital') characterize this transformation. Doha expanded to accommodate significant population increases and lifestyle changes. The urban expansion was auto-centric and suburban, similar to post-war development in the United States and other western societies. Qatari citizens 'emptied' Old Doha as they moved to contemporary villas in new developments at the suburban periphery. In response, the Qatari government launched plans for Msheireb Downtown Doha. Its purpose is to attract Qataris back to Doha's historic center by providing a walkable, mixed-use urban environment promoting a new model of sustainable urbanism. The design and planning explicitly seek to become rooted in Qatari social identity while preserving cultural heritage and historic resources. Our paper investigates the urban form and function of Msheireb Downtown Doha to evaluate its success. It examines the urban morphology, including figure-ground and pedestrian sheds analysis from crucial locations and surveys of ground-level land uses, active/inactive frontages, and the pattern of building heights. The goal is to illustrate and understand the project's urban form and function logic. Based on this, we argue that Msheireb Downtown Doha does satisfy the inhabitants' desire for a downtown lifestyle. It offers a model for urban regeneration consistent with the Qatar National Vision 2030 for an advanced society, sustainable development, and a high standard of living for people.

Najčešća kardiovaskularna bolest i u rekreacijski tjelesno aktivnih osoba jest arterijska hipertenzija, u čijem sprječavanju i liječenju znatno mjesto imaju promjena načina života, prehrana i tjelesna aktivnost. Aerobno vježbanje niskog do umjerenog i umjerenog intenziteta snizuje sistolički i dijastolički tlak u normotenzivnih i hipertenzivnih osoba, uz uvjet da je aerobno, redovito i dinamično. Osnovni mehanizam djelovanja tjelesne aktivnosti temelji se na smanjenju ukupnog perifernog krvožilnog otpora. U bolesnika koji boluju od bolesti povišena krvnog tlaka, odluka o tome kada ga uključiti u tjelovježbenu aktivnost te intenzitetu aktivnosti ovisi o stupnju te bolesti, komplikacijama bolesti te postojanju i težini komorbiditeta. Klinička evaluacija ovisit će o intenzitetu uključene tjelovježbe, simptomima, znakovima i čimbenicima opasnosti. Prije uključivanja u tjelesnu aktivnost, posebnu pozornost i procjenu treba usmjeriti k osobama niske kardiorespiratorne sposobnosti s pridruženim kroničnim bolestima, koronarnom bolesti, šećernom bolesti i kardio-metaboličkim sindromom. Obvezna je klinička i laboratorijska dijagnostika sportaša koji boluju od arterijske hipertenzije i znatno je šira u poredbi s općim pučanstvom. Antihipertenzivi izbora u sportaša su blokatori Ca++ kanala, inhibitori angiotenzin-konvertirajućeg enzima i blokatori angiotenzinskih-II receptora. Diuretici, kao i blokatori β-adrenergičkih receptora, smatraju se dopingom u nekim sportovima te se preporučuju tek pri neučinkovitosti navedenih skupina antihipertenziva, stoga što mogu utjecati na sportsku izvedbu, sposobnost i na razinu elektrolita u krvi.

Poticanje zdravog i uspješnog starenja i uključenosti starijih osoba u društvene aktivnosti, odnosno učinkovita prevencija negativnih posljedica starenja, iznimno je važna ne samo medicinska i humanistička već i socijalna, ekonomska i politička tema. Promjene mozga koje počinju u pedesetim godinama života ne oštećuju samo pamćenje nego i druge kognitivne funkcije, kao što su naša sposobnost obavljanja više radnji, brzo procesiranje informacija i usmjeravanje pažnje na detalje, a smanjuje se i naša kreativnost, kvaliteta življenja, životna energija i želja za životom. Mnogo je pogrešnih stavova i iskrivljenih mišljenja o mozgu i starenju. Gerontologija se sve više usmjerava na prepoznavanje specifičnih kvaliteta i sposobnosti starijih osoba i njihov mogući doprinos zajednici i društvu. Reziliencija predstavlja skup zaštitnih i salutogenih (kako neurobioloških tako i psihosocijalnih i spiritualnih) čimbenika koji moduliraju pozitivne ishode u stresnim i nepovoljnim situacijama, tijekom starenja i u bolesti. Do unazad dva-tri desetljeća vjerovalo se da naš mozak stvara nove neurone samo u ranoj mladosti. Međutim, istraživanja pokazuju da mozak zahvaljujući svojoj neuroplastičnosti ima sposobnost mijenjati se tijekom cijelog života stvaranjem novih neurona i veza između njih pa čak i povećati svoju veličinu. Naše spoznaje o neuroplastičnosti mozga u stalnom su porastu, a povećanje reziliencije našeg mozga veliki je izazov za temeljne i kliničke neuroznanosti. Individualna SSPP (Snaga, Slabost, Prilike, Prijetnje) analiza, koja uključuje jedinstvene resurse i perspektive ljubavi, moći, slobode, sreće i smisla, predstavlja model leće kroz koju se prelamaju izazovi starije životne dobi i predviđa uspješno starenje. U tekstu se prikazuje model leće za uspješno starenje kroz promociju reziliencije.

Uvod. Starenje stanovništva predstavlja izazov u ekonomskom, gospodarskom, zdravstvenom i društvenom smislu. Zdravstvena procjena potreba starije populacije provodi se na razini većih sredina, međutim, populacija na otocima pretežno je stara i neprekidno stari. Na Cresu živi 19,9% starijeg stanovništva, te je cilj ovog istraživačkog rada procjena zdravstvenog stanja starije populacije grada Cresa. Materijali i metode. Za procjenu zdravstvenog stanja korišten je anketni upitnik Short form health survey-36 (SF-36). Mjere zdravstvenog stanja uključuju sastavnice kao što su fizičko, psihičko i društveno funkcioniranje, vitalnost i energija, razna ograničenja zbog fizičkih ili psihičkih poteškoća, tjelesni bolovi te percepcija o općem zdravlju pojedinca. Ispitanici su osobe starije životne dobi koji žive na otoku Cresu. Rezultati. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 100 stanovnika grada Cresa (43 muškarca i 57 žena), od 65 i više godina. Dobiveni rezultati prema bodovanju svake pojedine čestice ukazuju na to da je društveno funkcioniranje najbolje ocijenjeno (79,83), zatim slijedi ograničenje zdravlja zbog emocionalnih poteškoća (79,33), psihičko ili mentalno zdravlje (68,08), fizičko funkcioniranje (65,4), ograničenje zdravlja zbog fizičkih poteškoća (60,75), vitalnost i energija (59,86) te opće zdravlje (54,35). Zaključak. Procjena zdravstvenog stanja starijeg stanovništva otoka Cresa bolja je u usporedbi s hrvatskom populacijom, a time i kvaliteta života. Muškarci imaju bolju kvalitetu života nego žene te svoje zdravlje percipiraju boljim nego žene. Važnost procjene zdravlja stanovnika očituje se u dobivanju kratkoročnih i dugoročnih podataka o promjenama u zdravlju populacije, čime se kreiraju intervencije s ciljem unapređenja zdravlja osoba starije životne dobi koje žive u manjim sredinama.

Poremećaji hoda i poremećaji ravnoteže uobičajeni su klinički problemi za starije osobe. Uzroci poremećaja hoda su individualni, često zbog fiziološkog procesa starenja i somatskih bolesti. Poremećaji hoda dovode do gubitka lične slobode, pada i povreda i rezultiraju značajnim smanjenjem kvaliteta života. Kod starijih osoba, kontrola statičke i dinamičke kontrole položaja i ritma je poremećena, što dovodi do izmijenjenog hoda, smanjuje se korak, povećava se širina hoda kako bi se održala ravnoteža, gornji dio tijela se savija prema naprijed da bi se održala ravnoteža, ruke se ne pomiču dok hodaju, hod je nepravilan, teže je započeti prve korake nakon sjedenja ili stajanja, kao i okretanja. Ako je moguće, najbolje je tretirati etiološki faktor, tj. osnovne bolesti, kao što su parkinsonizam, neki metabolički poremećaji itd. Treba voditi računa o nusefektima nekih lijekova, naročito antiparkinsonika, sedativa, hipnotika i antidepresiva. Također je potrebno uključiti i druge specijaliste, kao što su reumatolozi, fizijatri i fizioterapeuti, kao i internisti, kardiolozi i dijabetolozi. Kognitivne strategije također mogu biti korisne, na primjer usmjeravanje pažnje na svaki pojedinačni korak, a ne čin hodanja kao takav, svjesno pokušavajući napraviti pojedinačne velike korake, ili mentalno brojanje, kao i upotreba pomagala za hodanje.

U ovom radu cilj nam je bio naglasiti pozitivan učinak tjelesne aktivnosti na kvalitetu života kod osoba starije životne dobi, ukazati na to koliko je važno njihovo znanje o utjecaju tjelesne aktivnosti na zdravlje te koje su fizičke aktivnosti optimalne u toj životnoj dobi. Dosadašnjim iskustvima, a osobito stručnim i znanstvenim istraživanjima, utvrđeno je da tjelesna aktivnost u starijoj životnoj dobi ima više prednosti. Temeljna je zadaća proširiti znanje o potrebnim tjelesnim aktivnostima i njihovom utjecaju na zdravlje, potom povećati motiviranost te populacije za tjelesnom aktivnošću i, na kraju, dati smjernice i napraviti algoritam tjelesnih aktivnosti s obzirom na dob te opću tjelesnu i mentalnu sposobnost svake osobe starije životne dobi. Zaključak je da se redovitom tjelesnom aktivnošću mnoge promjene lokomotornog i živčanog sustava, za koje se smatra da su “normalne” tzv. degenerativne promjene, a koje negativno utječu na kvalitetu života, mogu prevenirati. Uvod: Domovi za starije i nemoćne osobe pružaju skrb starijim i nemoćnim osobama izvan vlastite obitelji, a u sklopu stalnog smještaja osiguravaju cjelovitu skrb. Tjelesna aktivnost ima zadatak održati ili poboljšati funkcijske sposobnosti do kojih neminovno dolazi starenjem i učestalijom pojavom bolesti, također prevenira, liječi i rehabilitira određene akutne i kronične bolesti. Materijali i metode: Cilj rada bio je prikazati stanje zdravlja starijih osoba s obzirom na osnovne varijable poput dobi, spola, rizičnog ponašanja, vrste oboljenja, s posebnim osvrtom na tjelesnu aktivnost. Istraživanje je provedeno u ustanovama domova za starije i nemoćne na području Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine na području Srednjobosanske, Sarajevske, Hercegovačko-neretvanske i Zapadnohercegovačke županije. Rezultati: Istraživanjem je utvrđeno kako je veći broj osoba ženskoga spola (60%) smješten u domovima za starije i nemoćne uz najčešću životnu dob od 75 do 79 godina života (21%). Najčešće kronične bolesti koje su zastupljene kod ovih osoba su hipertenzija (22%), dijabetes (21%) i osteoporoza (4%). Neznatno je veći udio ispitanika koji se bave tjelesnim vježbanjem (51%), a najveći broj ispitanika ne zna koje su prednosti bavljenja tjelesnim aktivnostima (55%). Zaključak: Možemo zaključiti kako svaka aktivnost, prilagođena pojedinom štićeniku, može osobu učiniti pokretljivijom i u konačnici zdravijom i manje ovisnom o pomoći drugih.

Navedeni su štetni učinci pregrijavanja (hipertermije) i pothlađivanja (hipotermije) u starijoj dobi. Opasnost smrtnog ishoda u pregrijavanju ovisi više o težini pridružene bolesti nego o težini stresa zbog toga stanja. Štetni učinci stresa su lokalna krvarenja, degeneracija stanica parenhimnih organa cijelog tijela, a napose središnjeg živčanog sustava, oštećenje stanica jetre, bubrega i drugih organa. Letalni ishod može se dogoditi i nekoliko dana nakon hipertermije napose u bolesnika koji boluju od šećerne bolesti, kronične opstrukcijske bolesti pluća, bolesti povišena krvnog tlaka u kojih je 50% viši. Liječenje pregrijavanja treba provoditi u bolničkim uvjetima uz trajno praćenje kliničkih i laboratorijskih parametara. Treba uspostaviti normalnu tjelesnu temperaturu što je prije moguće. Pothlađivanje se može podijeliti u 3 skupine: blago (rektalna temperatura 35–32°C), umjereno (rektalna temperatura 32–28°C); teško (rektalna temperatura niža od 28°C). U tom stanju u starijoj dobi visoka je opasnost letalnog ishoda koji može izgledati kao moždani udar ili kao metaboličke promjene. Oštećenja organizma posebno se događaju u ustrojnim i funkcijskim promjenama malih krvnih žila, stanica, živaca i kože. Neki čimbenici opasnosti za pothlađivanje su smanjenje stvaranja topline, promjene termoregulacije, smanjenje tjelesne aktivnosti. Svako stanje pothlađivanja, pa i blago, treba liječiti u Jedinici intenzivnog liječenja, dok se ne uspostavi potpuni oporavak. Dva su puta u liječenju: primarno je liječenje utopljavanjem, a sekundarno je liječenje komplikacija. Cilj liječenja je sporo povisivanje rektalne temperature, ne brže od 0,6°C na sat. U teškom pothlađivanju postupci reanimacije trebaju biti agresivni i produženi. Ne treba proglasiti smrtni ishod dok se ne ustanovi da je kardio-pulmonalno-cerebralna resuscitacija neučinkovita, no tek nakon što se povisi rektalna tjelesna temperatura na najmanje 35,8°C.

The breakdown of the WTO negotiations under the Doha Development Agenda has inspired critics to highlight the lack of effort on the part of rich countries to reform their agricultural policies. In this paper, we focus instead the poverty impacts of developing country tariff cuts – particularly those in agriculture. We argue that the Doha Development Agenda is fundamentally less poverty-friendly than it could be -- in large part due to the absence of tariff cuts on staple food products in developing countries. Such cuts would give the poor access to food at world prices, thereby reducing the cost of living at the poverty line. We also explore the contention that such tariff cuts will hurt the poor working in agriculture. Based on our analysis of the impacts of multilateral trade policy reforms on a sample of fifteen developing countries, we find there is some evidence of poverty increases in agriculture. However, such effects are minimized by ensuring that agricultural tariffs are cut in all developing countries. Overall, the poverty-reducing impact of lower food prices dominates; we conclude that the Doha Development Agenda would be more poverty friendly if it were to include deeper cuts in developing country agricultural tariffs. This contrasts sharply with calls for special products exemptions by many developing country advocates.
