The two native Croatian donkey breeds (Littoral-Dinaric donkey and Istrian donkey) were marginalized in the second half of the 20th century and were on the verge of biological extinction. The aim of this study was to analyze the demographic and genetic status of two donkey breeds, two decades after the start of protection by analyzing their pedigrees and genetic structure. The average generation interval was higher for the Istrian donkey (7.73) than for the Littoral-Dinaric donkey (7.27). The rate of the effective number of founders compared with the effective number of ancestors in the Littoral-Dinaric donkey (1.03; 325/316) and in the Istrian donkey (1.08; 70/65) revealed no evidence of a genetic bottleneck. The inbreeding coefficient (F) and the average relatedness coefficient (AR) was lower in the Littoral-Dinaric donkey population (0.99%; 0.13%) than in the Istrian donkey population (1.77%; 1.10%). Genetic microsatellite analysis showed relatively high genetic diversity in Littoral-Dinaric donkey and Istrian donkey breeds, expressed by mean allele number (5.92; 5.85) and expected heterozygosity (0.650; 0.653). Genetic differentiation between the Littoral-Dinaric donkey and the Istrian donkey has not significantly increased in the last two decades (FST = 0.028). Genetic analysis also showed no evidence of high inbreeding or genetic bottleneck in both breeds. A total of 11 haplotypes including 28 polymorphic sites were found in 30 samples. Analysis of mtDNA has shown that the Littoral-Dinaric donkey and Istrian donkey breeds belong to the Equus asinus africanus group. The study confirms the need to use different analytical approaches to get a regular and complete insight into the situation and trends within and between breeds, so that the existing diversity can be fully preserved.

BackgroundSystemic sclerosis (SSc) is characterized by vasculopathy, inflammation and fibrosis, and carries one of the worst prognoses if patients also develop pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Although PAH is a known prognostic factor, SSc-PAH patients demonstrate disproportionately high mortality, presumably due to cardiac involvement [1].ObjectivesTo investigate the relation between cardiac involvement as revealed by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) and systemic microvascular disease severity as measured with nailfold capillaromicroscopy (NCM) in SSc-PAH patients, compared to idiopathic PAH (IPAH) patients.MethodsSSc-PAH and IPAH patients underwent CMR, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), and NCM with post-occlusive reactivity hyperemia (PORH) testing on the same day [2-4]. CMR imaging included T2 mapping, native and postcontrast T1 mapping, to assess edema and fibrosis, and adenosine-stress perfusion imaging to measure the relative myocardial upslope (to determine microvascular coronary perfusion). Measures of peripheral microvascular function were related to CMR indices of edema, fibrosis and myocardial perfusion.ResultsSSc-PAH patients (n=20) had higher extracellular volume fraction (ECV) and T2 values than IPAH patients (n=5), and lower nailfold capillary density (NCD) and reduced capillary recruitment after PORH. NCD correlated with native T1, ECV, and T2 values (r=-0.431, -0.443, and -0.464, respectively, p<0.05 for all), and with markers of diastolic dysfunction on echocardiography. The article examines the literary circumstances of F. M. Dostoevsky’s debut. They were reflected in the correspondence and memoirs, and in his contemporaries’ literary polemics. Dostoevsky was one of the few Russian writers who was awarded the title of genius by critics long before the publication of his first novel. Thus, the question of who had called him a genius emerges as relevant? For the first time this word was uttered by V. G. Belinsky, but neither he nor his associates declared Dostoevsky a genius in print. Rumors did it for them more effectively than the printed word. The rumor of “extraordinary talent” and “new genius” provoked the opponents of V. G. Belinsky: F. V. Bulgarin, O. I. Senkovsky, L. V. Brant, S. P. Shevyrev, etc. As they tried to convince readers of the mediocrity of the up-and-coming talent, they unwittingly made Dostoevsky a genius, presented his brilliance as a fact. Two years later, Belinsky abandoned his discovery of the genius of Dostoevsky, and called himself “a donkey squared”, yet the revision of the personal relationship did not affect the writer’s literary fate. The scandal and controversy over the novel The Poor Folk reinforced Dostoevsky’s fame.

This study was conducted for the aim of comprehensive evaluation of the genetic diversity and phylogenetic relations of F. hepatica among various hosts. In this study, published sequences of mt-CO1 gene fragments belonging to final hosts of F. hepatica were used to create the dataset. First of all, 478 sequences were obtained with PubMed search. Then, some shorter sequences were removed after alignment, and 319 sequences which included cattle (n=242), sheep (n=46), goat (n=5), donkey (n=8), bison (n=7), water buffalo (n=7), human (n=2) and camel (n=2) sequences were analysed in the MEGA X program. The existence of 72 haplotype groups was detected. The most polymorphic sites (n=42) containing 31% (13/42) parsimony informative sites were detected in Iranian isolates. The mt-CO1 network consisted of 35 haplotypes, 80% out of which were geographically unique. However, a main haplotype consisting of 39.2% of the total isolates was formed. The bison isolates of F. hepatica showed the highest haplotype diversity within the final host isolates, followed by the sheep, water buffalo, cattle, goat and donkey isolates. The genetic diversity of F. hepatica in different hosts and countries revealed the possibility of new strains appearing in the future.

Pennahia anea in Tangerang waters have a fork length between 9.4 and 23 cm, with an average of 18.9 cm and modus 18-18.5 cm. Growth type is isometric with correlation R2 = 0.7266 and b = 3.2251. The sex ratio of female: male = 1: 0.9. Level and index maturity of gonad are highest in February and lowest in March.The length first maturity of donkey croaker at 15.8 cmFL. The length of the first capture (Lc) by danish seine net at 16,76 cmFL and by gill net at 17.60 cmFL. Asymptotic length (L∞) at 23.89 cmFL and growth rate (K) = 0.84 per year. Mortality rate; total (Z) = 4.01, natural (M) = 1.73/year and by fishing (F) = 2.28/year. Exploitation rate (E) of donkey croaker fish is 0.57. CPUE the smallest in July was 0.41 kg/trip/day, the largest was in June 9 kg/trip/day, averaging 3.3 kg/trip/day. The fishing season from July to January with its peak in November and the famine season occurs in February-June with a peak in February. The main fishing gear for catching donkey croaker fish in the Tangerang waters is the danish seine net. The highest production of donkey croaker fish in June.

Comprendre les réactions biologiques requiert l'utilisation de composés capables de transférer des électrons de manière sélective et de stabiliser des intermédiaires réactionnels. Ce travail s'est intéressé à la conception et à la réactivité de complexes de lanthanide divalents qui ont ce type de propriétés.Dans un premier temps, la réduction de deux molécules organiques, la phénanthroline et la benzophenone, a été étudiée. Les données thermodynamiques obtenues avec la phénanthroline ont permis de construire un ensemble de données de références de différentes fonctionnelles de la densité. Des méthodes de type TDDFT et CASSCF ont été ensuite mises en oeuvre afin de reproduire les spectres UV-visibles.Par la suite, les radicaux benzophenone et phénanthroline ont été utilisés afin de réaliser des réactions radicalaires. L'utilisation du radical tempo a permis de réaliser des réactions de réduction induite par les effets stériques des complexes. La compétition entre la benzophenone et la phénanthroline a également été étudiée et a permis de réaliser des couplages de type Minisci, qui sont inédits pour des complexes de lanthanides.Enfin, la réduction de composés organométalliques via un ligand N-hétérocyclique a été réalisée. Deux de ces composés ont été comparés vis à vis de la stabilisation de complexes de palladium au degré d'oxydation +IV. L'importance du ligand a été de plus étudiée grâce à des calculs CASSCF et DFT qui ont montré que certains types de ligands permettaient un transfert électronique plus direct jusqu'au palladium
Understanding biological reactions require the use of molecules that can transfer electrons selectively and stabilise key intermediates. This work is interested into the design and the reactivity of divalent lanthanides that possess this kind of property.Firstly, organic molecules, i.e. phenanthroline and benzophenone, were reduced by samarium complexes. The thermodynamic data obtained for phenanthroline reduction was used to perform a benchmark study on different density functionals. TDDFT and CASSCF methods were then used to understand the electronic structure of the complexes and compared to the UV-visible spectrum of the molecules.Then, benzophenone ketyl and phenanthroline radicals have been used to perform radical reactions. Reactions with tempo led to already observed sterically induced reduction which mechanism was investigated. The competition between phenanthroline and benzophenone led to Minisci couplings that were never described with lanthanide complexes.Finally, the electron was transferred to organometallic species containing palladium via a bridge N-heterocycle ligand. Two of such species were compared towards the stabilisation of palladium at the IVth oxidation state. The importance of the ligand was further assessed by a combination of DFT and CASSCF calculations showing that certain ligands enabled a more direct transfer towards the palladium centre

Une nouvelle famille de précatalyseurs à base d'lr(lll) a été découverte. La facilité de leur préparation, leur remarquable stabilité, et surtout leur excellente efficacité catalytique dans plusieurs réactions, c.-à-d. la 0-silylation d'alcools, l'hydrosilylation de fonctions CO et CN et l'activation de la liaison C-F, constituent un ensemble de propriétés que d'autres précatalyseurs organométalliques similaires connus à ce jour ne possèdent pas. Le fait le plus significatif est la mise en évidence expérimentale et théorique que les espèces catalytiques impliquées fonctionnement comme une paire de Lewis du type donneur-accepteur [lr(lll)H]-->[SiR3]. Dans ce cas le ligand silylium doit être considéré comme un ligand Z en appliquant le formalisme de Green, ce qui suggère un état d'oxidation formel de +Ill pour l'atome d'iridium. Cette thèse a contribué à une meilleure compréhension de la chimie du silylium appliquée à la chimie organométallique, et a abouti à l'émergence d'un nouveau champ de recherche qui pourra permettre l'élaboration de nouveaux précatalyseurs multicompétents
A new family of highly active iridacyclic lr(lll) precatalysts has been discovered. Notably, these ionic iridacycles are very stable so that their handling under air whether in solution or as solid powder is possible. The relative simplicity of their molecular structures allows their preparation on gram scale through a very simple and convenient synthetic protocol. We identified important iridium-silane intermediates involved in the catalysis of various reactions, e.g. the 0-silylation of alcohols, the hydrosilylation of CO and CN functions, and the activation of the C(sp3)-F bond of fluorocarbons. Experimental and theoretical studies of these intermediates point towards a Lewis donor-acceptor structural formulation of the type [lr(lll)H]-->[SiR3]. These results constitute a significant contribution to the design of future multicompetent precatalysts, and provide an original insight to the bonding within the Si-lr-H motif by considering the silylium ion [SiR3]+ as a Z-type ligand rather than a "traditional" X ligand

John Donne s’inscrit dans la tradition de la poésie métaphysique qui émerge au XVIIe siècle. Ce travail propose une étude de la représentation de la femme dans les poèmes de ce poète métaphysique. La question a été de s’interroger sur la place atypique que représente la femme dans cette poésie. Afin de mener ce travail, l’auteur a cherché tout d’abord à inscrire la réflexion de manière plus large autour de la question de la place de la femme dans la société à l’époque de John Donne, au début de XVIIé siècle. Une fois le contexte sociologique et l’histoire étudiés, c’est la place de la femme chez les prédécesseurs de John Donne qui a été étudiée. Sont ainsi passés en revue : Chaucer, Sidney et Shakespeare. Dans un troisième temps, la thèse propose une analyse de la place de la femme dans poésie de John Donne. Sont notamment étudiés les poèmes : The Sun Rising, The Canonization, The Blossome, Song Goe and catche, The Anniversarie, The Good-morrow, Loves Alchymie, The Extasie, A nocturnal upon S. Lucies day, The Flea, The Dreame, A Valediction : forbidding mourning et The Relique. L’étude a permis de mettre en valeur la façon dont le poète encourage la femme à se libérer des traditions, des contraintes aussi bien familiales que religieuses. John Donne fait appel à une femme moderne pour son époque
John Donne is enrolled in the tradition of metaphysical poetry that emerged in the seventeenth century. This work proposes a study of the representation of woman in the poems of this metaphysical poet. The question was to examine about the atypical place that the woman represents in this poetry.In order to carry out this work, the author first sought to inscribe reflection more widely on the question of the place of women in society at the time of John Donne in the beginning of seventeenth century. Once the sociological context and the history studied, it is the place of the woman in the predecessors of John Donne which was studied.Thus are reviewed : Chaucer, Sidney and Shakespeare. Thirdly, the thesis proposes an analysis of the place of women in John Donne’s poetry. The poems include The Sun Rising , The Canonization , The Blossome. Song Goe, and catche, The Anniversarie, The Good-morrow, Loves Alchymie, The Extasie, A nocturnal upon S. Lucies day, The Flea, The Dreame, A Valediction : forbidding mourning and The Relique. The study highlighted the way in which the poet encourages the woman to free herself from traditions, both family and religious constraints. John Donne appeals to a modern woman for his time

AbstractLaboratory medicine, along with the airline industry, has a long history of utilising quality management systems. It took until 1999 for the Joint Accreditation Committee of the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT) and the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), known as JACIE, to be established as an accreditation system in the field of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The aim was to create a standardised system of accreditation to be officially recognised across Europe, and it was based on the accreditation standards established by the US-based Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).Since the concept of JACIE was originally launched, many European centres have applied for initial accreditation with other centres gaining reaccreditation for the second, third or fourth time. Transplant units, outside of Europe, have accepted the importance of the JACIE Standards, with units in South Africa, Singapore and Saudi Arabia also gaining accreditation.There is evidence that both donor and patient care have improved within the accredited centres (Passweg et al., Bone Marrow Transplant 47:906–923; 2012: Demiriz IS, Tekgunduz E, Altuntas F (2012) What is the most appropriate source for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation?).Peripheral Stem Cell/Bone Marrow/Cord Blood Bone Marrow Res. (2012):Article ID 834040 (online)). However, there is a lack of published evidence demonstrating that this improvement directly results from better nursing care. Therefore, the authors conducted a survey of nursing members of the European Blood and Marrow Transplantation Nurses Group (EBMT (NG)) to identify how nurses working in the area of HSCT felt that JACIE impacted in the care they delivered and the general implications of JACIE for nurses.

This chapter begins by discussing coordination chemistry in aqueous solution, and then moves on to the more varied coordination chemistry that is seen in non-aqueous solution. It covers the complexes of f-elements, excluding those with Ln- or An-carbon bonds. The chapter also highlights the importance of chelating and macrocyclic ligands in f-element coordination chemistry, particularly in aqueous solution. Both lanthanoids and actinoids are generally considered as hard Lewis acids, and so their coordination chemistry is dominated by hard O and N donor ligands. Bonding is highly ionic in most cases, resulting in labile complexes that can have highly irregular coordination geometries dictated by ligand steric factors. Large ionic radii result in high coordination numbers, except where ligands are exceptionally sterically demanding.

These are considered in section 2.2 when we review multivariate problems. A number of error criteria are used in practice for approximation of a zero ∝ of f.

Abstract This chapter notes how swearing is objectionable depending on the context. It notes how nuisances can gauge how concerned people should be about offensive behavior. Tone and body language affect the offensiveness of swearing, similar to how significant both factors are in communication generally. The chapter explains how inappropriate swearing risks causing offense by conveying disrespect and politeness, referencing how people might view direct and indirect swearing differently. Additionally, the deliberateness of the swear is another factor relevant to the offensiveness of swearing. The chapter cites how swearing is a more serious matter when it is done both angrily and repeatedly while repetitive swearing at nothing in particular is less objectionable.

Background: The intestinal microbiota and its metabolites, particularly short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), have been implicated in immune function, host metabolism, and even behavior. Objective: This study was performed to investigate whether probiotic administration influences levels of intestinal microbiota and their metabolites in a fashion that may attenuate brain changes in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Methods: C57BL/6 wild-type (WT) mice were compared to AppNL–G–F mice. The animals were treated with either vehicle or probiotic (VSL#3) for 8 weeks. Fecal microbiome analysis along with Aβ, GFAP, Iba-1, c-Fos, and Ki-67 immunohisto-chemistry was done. SCFAs were analyzed in serum and brains using UPLC-MS/MS. Results: Probiotic (VSL#3) supplementation for 2 months resulted in altered microbiota in both WT and AppNL–G–F mice. An increase in serum SCFAs acetate, butyrate, and lactate were found in both genotypes following VSL#3 treatment. Propionate and isobutyrate were only increased in AppNL–G–F mice. Surprisingly, VSL#3 only increased lactate and acetate in brains of AppNL–G–F mice. No significant differences were observed between vehicle and VSL#3 fed AppNL–G–F hippocampal immunoreactivities of Aβ, GFAP, Iba-1, and Ki-67. However, hippocampal c-Fos staining increased in VSL#3 fed AppNL–G–F mice. Conclusion: These data demonstrate intestinal dysbiosis in the AppNL–G–F mouse model of AD. Probiotic VSL#3 feeding altered both serum and brain levels of lactate and acetate in AppNL–G–F mice correlating with increased expression of the neuronal activity marker, c-Fos.

In this chapter, the authors explore Fluoride (F) in groundwater as a major issue of water pollution. Geo-statistical analysis of groundwater quality in Newai Tehsil (India) has been done in order to identify the possible spatial distribution of water quality parameters and to assess the spatial dependence of water properties with the help of principal component analysis (PCA) structure. Two types of maps (spatial map and principal component map) of groundwater quality have been developed. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different Fluoride (F) concentration combined with Pseudomonas fluorescens (P.F) on Prosopis juliflora plant. The field design was used as completely randomized block design with three replicates. The study revealed that parameters were found to be positively and highly correlated with principal component. Low and high values (with their acceptable limit) have also been displayed over each spatial map. Plants treated with P. fluorescens showed the highest F uptake in root, shoot, and leaves tissues were 33.14, 19.41, and 15.15 mg kg-1 after 120 days, respectively. Both total bioaccumulation factor (BF) and translocation factor (TF) were obtained above one (i.e., 1.06 and 1.04). This confirmed the high accumulation and translocation of F in plant tissues. The F uptake efficiency of plant was enhanced to 67.7%, and plant biomass was increased to 57.03%. The present study will be beneficial for researchers working towards further improvement of F phytoremediation technology.

The mechanisms which determine and regulate platelet size are unknown. By phase microscopy, we serendipitously observed that Wistar/Furth (W/F) rats had macrothrombocytopenia. In this study, we have characterized and compared platelets and megakaryocytes (MK) of W/F rats to those of Wistar (W), Long-Evans hooded (LE) and Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. In addition, we have examined the mode of inheritance of this W/F rat platelet abnormality. Average platelet count of W/F rats was only 312 ± 57 x 103/mm3 compared to 1086 ± 68, 868 ± 91 and 926 ± 82 x 103/mm3 respectively for W, LE and SD rats. Mean platelet volume (MPV) of W/F rats (8.1 ± 1.4 fl) was twice that of W (4.0 ± 0.2 fl), LE (4.2 ± 0.3 f1) and SD (4.1 ± 0.2 f1) rats. However, average MK diameter and DNA content distribution of W/F rats were not significantly different than those of LE rats. Average MK concentration was somewhat lower (4.5 MK/high power field) in the W/F strain compared to that of LE rats (6.6 MK/HPF). Maze-like membrane formations were observed in W/F MK and platelets by electron microscopy. Reciprocal crosses of W/F and LE rats resulted in offspring with MPVs (4.2 fl) and platelet counts like those of LE rats, indicating that the macrothrombocytopenic trait is recessive in its inheritance. Reciprocal marrow transplants between the W/F and LE strains resulted in MPVs like those of the donor strain indicating that the macrothrombocytopenia is an intrinsic marrow abnormality of the W/F strain. Analysis of W/F platelets by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed two readily detectable differences from those of W and LE rats: (1) absence of a protein of MW of 41,000 and pi of 6.35 and (2) presence of a protein of MW of 35,000 and pi of 5.9. In summary, the W/F rat has a hereditary macrothrombocytopenia which is recessive in nature and not due to differences in MK size or DNA content. These results suggest that the macrothrombocytopenia of W/F rats results from formation of fewer platelets per MK, possibly due to a qualitative or quantitative defect in some component necessary for proper subdivision of megakaryocyte cytoplasm into platelets.

The A n of Mie scattering coefficients can be calculated by backward recurrence through a continued fraction technique,1 but extra terms are needed to obtain a stabilized A n value; thus forward recurrence is still preferred if the terms are needed before it becomes unstabilized. Using both forward and backward recurrence to study A n , we are able to determine the term where the forward recurrence is still allowed. By relating it to the refractive index of the medium, we find in the nonabsorbing medium, the valid term is proportional to the product of the refractive index of the medium and its size parameter. As the imaginery refractive index increases the valid term decreases, but it reaches the minimum as the imaginary part equals the real part of the refractive index. Using the nonabsorbing medium as a reference, we determine the valid term as the imaginary refractive index is not zero. The relationship of the valid term vs the precision of the machine is under study. This research was done on a twelve-digit HP 9845.

This paper reports the spectroscopic properties of praseodymium-doped phosphate, KLuP2O7doped with Pr3+ ions. Spectra of photoluminescence (PL) upon selective UV photon excitation and PL excitation spectra were measured. Recordings of luminescence spectra were done with pure samples and after irradiating with fast electrons (E = 10 MeV) using the UELR-10-10C2 linear electron accelerator in Ural Federal University and fast neutrons (E > 1 MeV) using IBR-2 reactor in Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Pure samples demonstrate three typical channels of emission: interconfigurational d–f transitions, intraconfigurational f–f transitions and defect-related luminescence. After irradiating, significant changes of emission characteristics were observed: redistribution of interconfigurational transitions intensity and growth of defect-related luminescence bands. Several peaks are associated with phosphorus formations in crystal lattice.
