In recent years, the wanton spread of the new crown epidemic overseas has led to the economic downturn of the overseas ceramic industry, the ceramic domestic sector is chaotic, the competition pressure in the industry is excellent, and Dehua Ceramics is facing transformation needs. Based on different land use types and diverse watersheds of Dehua district of Fujian Province, soil erosion is assessed by using Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE). According to the results, erosion of Dehua is generally mild, among which total erosion is 952.71×103 t/a and erosion area is 2210.67 km2. It is significant that the vast forest and grassland contribute to avoiding erosion effectively. In addition, the overlap area of Min and Jin River and Chanxi of Min River, the most frequent place of human activities, are the two highest soil erosion watersheds. The result shows that human activities have great influence on soil erosion. This article intends to provide evidence for planning and control measures of soil erosion.

The in-situ stabilization remediation of Hg-contaminated soil in Qianyang, Dehua County, Fujian Province, was studied through the pre-experiments (stabilization orthogonal experiment and pot experiment) and field plot experiments for two consecutive years. The pre-experiments results showed that the main factors of the stabilization were the initial concentration of Hg in the soil and the amount of amendment added, followed by the amendment type, while the aging time had less effect. When the initial concentration of Hg in the soil was less than 10 mg·kg−1 and the amendment (modified biochar with modified attapulgite) added ratio was 0.2–0.4%, indicating optimized stabilization effect. After one-time application of 6750 and 11,250 kg·hm−2 amendment in low (1.38 mg·kg−1), medium (2.46 mg·kg−1), and high (8.52 mg·kg−1) Hg-contaminated soils, it could accelerate the transformation of Hg from exchangeable to residual and oxidizable Hg, enhance the activities of catalase, urease, and invertase in the soil. After one year of remediation, the case of adding 6750 kg·hm−2 amendment showed a significant stabilization effect. Compared to the control group, the available Hg content in the soil and Hg content in the water spinach reduced to 52.1–62.0% and 58.2–66.6%, respectively. When the application amount was increased to 11,250 kg·hm−2, the reduction rates were 43.2–46.0% and 58.2–62.0%, respectively. After two years of remediation, the stabilization effect was weakened, but the available Hg content in the soil and the water spinach was still significantly lower than that of the control, indicating that the persistence of the stabilization was good. For the soil contaminated slightly by Hg, the Hg content in the water spinach within two years was lower than the limit value of the Chinese standard (0.01 mg·kg−1). Although the Hg content in the water spinach for the soil contaminated highly by Hg was higher than the limit value, it could reduce to 67.3%, indicating an acceptable stabilization effect on heavily contaminated soil.

Abstract The Nanzhao kingdom ruled a large region in what is now southwest China and southeast Asia from the mid-seventh century to 903. Its strategic position next to the Tibetan empire and its own expansionist goals meant that Nanzhao had extensive diplomatic and military relations with the Tang dynasty (618–907) during the eighth and ninth centuries. This paper argues that Tang-Nanzhao relations, as well as the Nanzhao court’s relations with its own diverse subjects, were pursued in accordance with the colonial dynamics of mimesis theorized by Homi Bhabha and Michael Taussig. Tang representations of the Nanzhao population and the Nanzhao court’s self-representations conform to colonial modes of depicting difference, namely mimesis (which involves copying or mimicking) and alterity (which involves asserting difference). These representations appear specifically in the 863 Book of Barbarians (Manshu) by the Tang official Fan Chuo, the 766 Nanzhao Stele of Transforming through Virtue (Dehua bei), and the 899 Illustrated History of Nanzhao (Nanzhao tuzhuan).

In order to study the raw material sources and their identification methods of blue and white porcelain made in Jingdezhen Jiajing official kiln (J-O-kiln) and Dehua Housuo kiln (D-H-kiln), 22 blue and white porcelain samples of J-O-kiln and D-H-kiln were analyzed for their body and glaze chemical compositions by Proton Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE). A set of fingerprint chemical components among them were selected for distribution analysis. Our results show that the raw material sources the porcelain bodies of J-O-kiln are relatively concentrated, and those of D-H-kiln porcelain bodies are relatively scattered, and the raw material sources of porcelain bodies made in the two kilns are quite different, and the raw material sources, recipes of the transparent glazes and blue and white glazes made in these two kilns are also quite different. Therefore, blue and white porcelain samples from J-O-kiln and D-H-kiln can be better easily differentiated by PIXE and fingerprint chemical components distribution analysis.

This study analyzes porcelain fragments unearthed at multiple archaeological sites in Mexico City, formerly known as New Spain. A collection of 60 samples was successfully categorized into four different groups and analyzed based on the Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) in conjunction with statistical methods. One of the groups included blue-and-white porcelains, which conclusively traced back to the renowned Jingdezhen kilns. Another blue-and-white group was attributed to the Zhangzhou kilns. Notably, it was determined that the Chinese white porcelains, distinguished by their low iron content, originated from the Dehua kilns. In contrast to Chinese porcelain, a separate category was identified as Japanese porcelain, which displayed distinct chemical signatures. These Japanese pieces were probably sourced from the Arita kilns. The origin of the two porcelain bodies remained elusive and undetermined throughout our analysis. The chemical analysis of archaeological specimens provides invaluable data on their identity and provenance. Therefore, the findings presented here offer compelling evidence of extensive trade, cultural, and social connections between China, Japan, the Philippines, and Mexico City during the Viceroyalty period facilitated by La Nao de La China (The China Ships).

To study the effects of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) fertilizers on the yield of ‘Jianbao’ pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima Duch), we conducted experiments using the “3414” optimal design scheme in Dehua County, Quanzhou, Fujian, China. Overall, three fertilizer factors (N, P, K) were tested with four fertilization levels (level 0, no fertilizer; level 1, 0.5-times the typical fertilizing amount; level 2, typical fertilizer application; level 3, 1.5-times the typical application), with a total of 14 different fertilization treatments. Based on the results of this study, a corresponding fertilization performance model was established to provide a practical basis for ensuring highly efficient cultivation of pumpkin in the field. Our results showed that the experimental data could not be fitted with a ternary quadratic polynomial fertilizer model, but that it could be fitted with a single-variable quadratic fertilizer model. According to the fitted model, pumpkin yield first increased and then decreased with the increasing amount of N, P, and K used. We identified significant regression relationships between ‘Jianbao’ pumpkin yield and the amount of N, P, and K in the fertilizer. Finally, based on the single-variable quadratic fertilizer model, we suggest that the quantities of N, P, and K fertilizer used for growing 1 ha of ‘Jianbao’ pumpkin should be 390.5, 213.8, and 371.3 kg, respectively.

Since the Southern Song dynasty, this has been the primary economic and cultural hub of the province. The dialects and cultures of these cities are historically interconnected. In this context, many folk crafts have emerged in Southern Fujian's history. This paper focuses on traditional folk crafts of the Southern Fujian areaDehua Kiln white porcelain and Zhangzhou Kiln beige-glazed potteryexamining from the perspective of local cultural and religious customs. Using documentary research and case study methods, this study explores the impact of local religious culture and customs on the craftsmanship of these two types of pottery, aiming to further promote the exchange of folk crafts between Zhangzhou and Quanzhou.

To explore the deep geological structure of the Dongyang area in Fujian, China, gravity data from the area and its surroundings were collected and processed. Additionally, a high-precision magnetic survey was conducted in the Zhongxian region of this area, with subsequent analysis of the magnetic anomalies. Through the integration of regional geological data, a comprehensive analysis was carried out on the characteristics of gravity–magnetic anomalies and deep geological structures in the Dongyang area. The study indicates that the primary portion of the Dongyang area lies southwest of the expansive circular volcanic structure spanning Dehua to Yongtai. Two significant residual gravity anomalies were identified within the region, interpreted as the Xiaoban-Shuangqishan and Dongyang-Lingtouping residual gravity-positive anomalies. In the Zhongxian region, the magnetic field exhibits complexity with notable amplitude variations. Positive anomalies predominate in the western and northern sectors, while localized positive anomalies are prominent in the eastern region. The central area portrays a circular and disordered mix of positive and negative anomalies. Particularly distinctive are the band-shaped and fan-shaped negative anomalies curving from northeast to southeast through the central region. Various positive and negative anomalies of varying strengths, gradients, and orientations overlay both positive and negative magnetic backgrounds in specific locales. Moreover, the Dongyang area showcases well-developed fault structures, primarily oriented in northeast and northwest directions. Leveraging the regional magnetic attributes in conjunction with regional geological data, 39 faults were deduced in the Zhongxian region of the Dongyang area, delineating three promising mineralization zones.

Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide, and regular screening is effective in reducing its mortality. Epi proColon was the first blood-based Septin9 gene methylation assay approved by the US FDA for CRC screening. However, the broader application of this assay has been hindered by its relatively lower sensitivity in detecting early-stage CRC and precancerous lesions. In this study, we developed a new multiplex Septin9 methylation assay, named ColonUSK, which simultaneously detects two CpG-rich subregions in the promoter of the Septin9 gene and an internal control in a single reaction. In comparison with the Sepin9 assay targeting only one CpG-rich subregion, this new assay demonstrated improved sensitivity, with a detection limit as low as 12pg of the positive DNA. To assess its value in CRC screening, we conducted an opportunistic screening study involving a total of 1366 subjects. Blind testing was performed to evaluate ColonUSK in comparison with clinical diagnosis using colonoscopy and pathological examination (the clinical gold standard). The clinical sensitivities of ColonUSK for detecting CRC and advanced adenoma were 77.34% (95% CI: 72.89%-81.26%) and 25.26% (95% CI: 17.16%-35.41%), respectively. The clinical specificity of the assay for non-CRC cases was 95.95% (95% CI: 94.36%-97.13%). Notably, ColonUSK was able to detect 54.29% of cases with high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia. The Kappa test value for this experiment was 0.76, indicating a high degree of consistency between ColonUSK and pathological diagnosis. Our results suggest that ColonUSK holds potential as a non-invasive screening tool for colorectal cancer. Abstract Many solid tumors have alterations in phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling. These can occur through mutation of the p110alpha and p85alpha proteins of PI3Kalpha itself as well as through alterations to upstream receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and phosphatases of PIP3, including PTEN. As a whole, PI3K signaling is one of the most frequently altered in cancer. These mutations lead to activation of the PI3K complex and to constitutive downstream signaling. This signaling allows cells to enter a pro-growth and pro-survival state which is beneficial to the cancer cells. The structure of PI3K has been extensively studied by crystallography and NMR. Here, we present our work on the full-length complex of p110alpha with p85alpha using cryo-EM. When compared with the previous structural studies, cryo-EM shows a similar structure and major structural features are unchanged. However, our cryo-EM studies revealed several additional structural features of the PI3K complex. Cryo-EM showed that SH3, BH and cSH2 domains of p85alpha can bind to p110alpha. When inhibited with Alpelisib, these domains form a stable cover of the active site of the kinase. These domains interact with the helical and kinase domains of p110alpha and the iSH2 domain of p85alpha. The position of these domains restricts access to the kinase active site and may contribute to the inhibition of PI3K activity by Alpelisib. When the PI3K complex binds to phosphorylated RTKs, the nSH2 binds to phosphotyrosine and relieves inhibitory interactions with the helical domain of p110alpha. Using cryo-EM, we have studied this activation by incubating the full-length PI3K complex with synthetic phosphopeptides. 2D cryo-EM class averages showed a dramatic rearrangement of the PI3K complex. In addition to the expected displacement of the nSH2 domain, the ABD and iSH2 domains undergo structural changes. Terrestrial, satellite, and internet High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcasting have experienced notable advancements in recent years, yet the potential within the DTV Essential Hidden Area (DEHA) in each frame remains largely untapped. This study focuses on exploring and harnessing the capabilities of the DEHA via the introduction of a DEHA decoder. Through experimental analysis, the proposed decoder effectively reveals previously unnoticed DEHA in diverse HDTV broadcasting systems. By incorporating overlaid three-digit values, DEHA text, a 16 × 15 checked board pattern, and a QR code, the decoder enables the easy identification and extraction of the embedded DEHA service. Furthermore, the research investigates the potential of utilizing the embedded DEHA for transmitting program-related metadata, encompassing technical information, specific camera details, and post-production technologies. Leveraging a checked pattern block image, a seamless and efficient transfer mechanism within the embedded DEHA is established. The utilization of the embedded DEHA holds promising opportunities for enhancing DTV service, leveraging its inherent synchronization advantages within video content. Moreover, compliance with established broadcasting standards, such as ATSC, ISDB, and DVB, ensures compatibility and interoperability. This study emphasizes the significance of the DEHA in terrestrial, satellite, and internet broadcasting, unveiling new possibilities for innovation and improvement in the industry.

For the recovery of neodymium, an important rare earth metal, solvent extraction using DEHPA as extractant is a possible process for winning and recycling. A preceding study by the authors has provided extensive experimental data of the system neodymium-chloride-hydrochloric acid (or sodium hydroxide)-water-di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA)-kerosene. It was found that the description of the reaction Nd3++3(DEHPA)2 ⇄ Nd(DEHP‧DEHPA)3+3H+ by an ideal mass action law is only partly satisfactory. This article investigates the contribution of several parameters to non-ideality. On this basis, expressions for activity coefficients of neodymium in the aqueous phase as well as DEHPA and neodymium in the organic phase are derived. The resulting equations are shown to represent the system with considerably better accuracy than previously possible.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA) and phthalates are commonly used as plasticizers to soften polyvinyl chloride products. Because both DEHA and certain phthalates have been identified as priority chemicals for assessment of human health risk under the Government of Canada's Chemicals Management Plan, a comprehensive targeted survey was conducted to investigate the occurrence of DEHA and eight phthalates (di-methyl phthalate, di-ethyl phthalate, di-n-butyl phthalate, di-iso-butyl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate, di-n-hexyl phthalate, d-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, and di-n-octyl phthalate) in a total of 118 samples of meat (beef, pork, and chicken), fish, and cheese packaged mostly in cling films. The eight phthalates were not detected in any of the food packaging, but DEHA was detected in most of the cling films, indicating that although DEHA-plasticized films (e.g., polyvinyl chloride film) are currently being used by most grocery stores, nonplasticized cling films such as polyethylene film, are also being used by some stores. DEHA was not detected in any of the 10 cheese samples packaged in nonplasticized rigid plastics but was detected in all 30 cheese samples packaged in DEHA-plasticized cling films at levels from 0.71 to 879 μg/g, with an average of 203 μg/g. Only DEHA was detected in the beef, pork, chicken, and fish samples packaged in DEHA-plasticized cling films but at considerably lower levels than those found in cheese, with averages of 6.3, 9.1, 2.5, and 5.9 μg/g, respectively. Among the eight phthalates, only di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) was detected in a few cheese samples at levels from 0.29 to 15 μg/g, with an average of 2.8 μg/g; these levels were very likely due to environmental contamination. Levels of DEHA found in most of the cheese samples from this study are above the European specific migration limit of 18 mg/kg for DEHA in food or food simulants, and levels of phthalates (i.e., DEHP) were low.

Abstract In his report of the damage caused by the 1905 Kangra earthquake, Middlemiss (1910) reported two zones of relatively high intensity: a major one with a maximum near Kangra and Dharamsala and extending southeast to Mandi, and a minor one centered around Dehra Dun. A re-examination of the information that he gave suggests that the intervening zone of low intensity was not well-defined and that the intensity near Dehra Dun was not markedly higher than that at towns in the plains of northern India. Thus, these observations allow three different possibilities for the extent of the rupture zone. The rupture may have extended southeast 280 km, from west of Dharamsala to southeast of Dehra Dun. In this case the rupture probably occurred on segments of two thrust faults connected by a strike-slip fault in the hanging wall (or by a buried lateral ramp) north of Simla. Possibly there were two separate ruptures: one extending from near Dharamsala southeast to Mandi and the other, poorly defined, near Dehra Dun. Finally the distribution of destruction allows for the possibilities that only the area 100km in extent, from west of Dharamsala to Mandi, ruptured and that the 1905 earthquake did not relieve much strain in the region near Dehra Dun. Accordingly, it probably is safe to assume that Dharamsala will not lie in the epicentral area of the next great earthquake in the Himalaya, but it probably would be unwise to assume that that area will not include Dehra Dun.

In this work, we have developed a simple method to carry out the quantitative analysis of deethylhydroxyatrazine (DEHA), the most abundant metabolite of atrazine herbicide (ATZ), based on the surface-enhanced Raman scattering technique. Since this ATZ product can undergo pH-dependent tautomerization, a previous characterization of the DEHA vibrational spectrum was accomplished. This study consisted of the Raman scattering study, both experimental and theoretical, of the enolic and ketonic tautomers of this molecule. SERS spectra were recorded at different pH in order to assess the effect of the metal surface in nanoparticles along with the pH on the structure of DEHA and to find the optimal experimental conditions of the quantitative detection of DEHA. Additionally, the interaction of DEHA with two types of humic acid reference standards, the Elliot humic and leonardite humic ones, was also performed by SERS. This interaction was conducted with two different objectives: to evaluate the interaction mechanism of the ATZ degradation product with humic substances and to check if this interaction can modify the sensitivity of the SERS detection of DEHA. The results presented in this study have clearly demonstrated that SERS spectroscopy is a very powerful technique for characterizing DEHA and other triazine sub-products at a very low concentration in water and also for analyzing the interaction of these important pollutants with humic substances.

Acharya Charaka has described different Deha Prakriti in charaka samhita such as Vataja, Pittaj and Kaphaj Prakriti as main and Dwandaja Prakriti i.e Vata-pitta, Vata-kapha and Pitta-kapha and last one is Sama Prakriti i.e all the Doshas are in equilibrium state also known as Sama Prakriti. According to Ayurvedic literature the quality of Bala is supreme in Kapha Pradhan Prakriti individuals followed by Pitta and Vata Prakriti individuals. So, different Dosha Pradhana Deha-Prakriti persons have varying degrees of Bala, according to the Ayurvedic Samhitas. Another crucial factor for assuming Trividha Bala, which consists of Pravara, Madhyama, and Avara, is Vyayama-Shakti. There is no convincing evidence of a direct relationship between Deha-prakriti and Vyayama-Shakti, despite all these references suggesting that various Dosha Pradhana Deha-Prakriti persons should also have varying amounts of Vyayama-Shakti. There isn't a conventional test for Vyayama-Shakti examination outlined in Ayurvedic literature, but various contemporary fitness tests and efficiency tests, such the Treadmill, Queens test and Harvard step test, can be utilized to provide objective parameters with which the Vyayama-shakti can be assessed and co-related with Deha Prakriti. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) food-wrapping films plasticized with di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA) are commonly used by grocery stores in Canada to rewrap meat, poultry, fish, cheese, and other foods. DEHA was assessed as part of the Government of Canada's Chemicals Management Plan. The main source of exposure for most age groups was expected to be food. Although the margin of exposure from food and beverages is considered to be adequately protective, the Government of Canada committed to performing targeted surveys of DEHA in foods and food packaging materials to better define Canadian exposure to DEHA through dietary intake. In order to determine whether more-comprehensive targeted surveys on DEHA in foods should be conducted, 26 food composite samples from the 2011 Canadian total diet study were selected and analyzed for DEHA using a method based on solvent and dispersive solid-phase extraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. These 26 food composites include cheese, meat, poultry, fish, and fast foods, and PVC films were likely used in packaging the individual foods used to make the composites. DEHA was detected in most of the meat, poultry, and fish composite samples, with the highest concentration found in ground beef (11 μg/g), followed by beef steak (9.9 μg/g), freshwater fish (7.8 μg/g), poultry liver pa^te′ (7.4 μg/g), fresh pork (6.9 μg/g), cold cuts and luncheon meats (2.8 μg/g), veal cutlets (2.1 μg/g), roast beef (1.3 μg/g), lamb (1.2 μg/g), and organ meats (0.20 μg/g). Targeted surveys should be conducted to investigate the presence of DEHA in various foods packaged with PVC films in more detail and provide updated occurrence data for accurate human exposure assessment.

Exposure to different arsenic concentrations (higher than 10 μg/L), either due to the direct consumption of contaminated drinking water or indirectly by using contaminated food is harmful for human health. Therefore, it is important to remove arsenic from aqueous solutions. Among many arsenic removal technologies, adsorption offers a promising solution with a good efficiency, however the material used as adsorbent play a very vital role. The present investigation evaluated the behavior of two cellulose-based adsorbent materials, i.e., viscose fibers (V) and its TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) derivative, obtained by using the well-established TEMPO-mediated protocol (VF). Due to the known arsenic affinity for Fe ions the two materials were later doped with it. This was done after a preliminary functionalization with di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (DEHPA), to obtain two materials: V-DEHPA-Fe and VF-DEHPA-Fe. Arsenic adsorption is known to be pH dependent (between 6 and 8); therefore, the optimal pH range for As(V) adsorption has been established. In order to evaluate the adsorption mechanism for both the synthesized materials, the influence of contact time, temperature and initial concentration was evaluated. Langmuir, Freundlich and Sips equilibrium isotherm models were used in order to determine the ability of the model to describe As(V) adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity of the material V-DEHPA-Fe was 247.5 µg As(V)/g with an As(V) initial concentration of 5 mg/L and for the material VF-DEHPA-Fe it was 171.2 µg As(V)/g with initial concentration of 5 mg/L.

A survey of 184 samples of food packaged in a range of plastics was carried out to assess the incidence of plasticizer migration into foods. Food samples were screened for the plasticizers di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA), di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and diisooctyl phthalate (DIOP) using gas chromatography. Only samples in contact with poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) films were found to contain a detectable amount of DEHA. Of the 98 samples wrapped in PVC films, 44 (45%) showed levels of migration exceeding 30 mg/kg. In particular, significant quantities of DEHA were observed in cheeses which had been wrapped at the point of sale. DEHA was detected in 36 out of 38 samples (95%) of cheese wrapped in PVC film, with levels ranging from 31 to 429 mg/kg. Fresh meats packaged in PVC film gave positive results in 5 of the 42 samples analyzed (12%), with levels ranging from 49 to 151 mg/kg. Migration of DEHA into other foods such as sandwiches was also observed, while some food types, such as frozen chicken, showed no detectable migration.

A spontaneous oscillation between the expansion and contraction of a nitrobenzene pendant droplet containing di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA) was observed in an aqueous phase under alkaline conditions. We described this phenomenon as the spontaneous oscillation of the oil–water interfacial tension. The oscillation characteristics such as the induction period and the interfacial-tension oscillation frequency were investigated under different temperatures and aqueous phase polarities. The effects of the interfacial tension of the biphasic pendant-droplet, the surface excess of the surfactant molecules, and the amount of nitrobenzene elution from the droplet to the aqueous phase on the oscillation characteristics were investigated. Consequently, the periodic expansion–contraction oscillation mechanism was explained through the adsorption–desorption cycle of DEHPA with respect to the aggregate formation of the inverted micelle of DEHPA. This study was based on a simple vibration phenomenon of interfacial tension, and is extremely important for clarifying the predominant factors that cause fluctuations in the free interface energy, which has been ambiguous.

The present paper deals with 198 taxa of Pteridophytes from Dehra Dun District of Uttarakhand. Location, general vegetation, brief ecological classification along with distributional list of these plants in different valleys of Dehra Dun is provided in table form. The information provided herewith is based on the authors own observation, coupled with the fragmented earlier published literature and specimens housed in different herbaria i.e. BSD, DD, CAL, LWG, etc. List of threatened taxa along with the uses of pteridophytic vegetation in the area is also provided.

The subjective quality of life (QOL) can reflect differences in perceptions of residents and their true state of life. Taking Dehui City of northeast China as a case, based on 482 questionnaires from urban and rural residents, this paper evaluated the subjective QOL from three views, i.e. the attitude of residents to the objective material conditions where they live in, the satisfaction with various emotional relationships and the degree of concern about future unpredictable conditions. The purpose of this paper is to compare the subjective QOL of urban and rural residents and find out the key influencing factors, which will help the government to make precise measures to narrow the gap between urban and rural development in China. The results showed that the overall satisfaction of urban and rural residents in Dehui City with the basic living conditions, emotions and unknown conditions is generally higher. However, there are significant differences between urban and rural residents about the satisfaction with the basic living conditions and the degree of concern about unknown conditions. The subjective QOL of most rural residents is not ideal, and the degree of satisfaction of urban residents and rural residents who live near the urban center of Dehui and the provincial capital Changchun is slightly higher than those of the rural areas in northwestern Dehui. Social security, diversification of family income, improvement of regional environment, and family economic foundation are important factors in improving the subjective QOL of urban residents, while social security and regional environmental improvement have positively promoted the subjective QOL of rural residents.

Abstract Equal education, different returns: Research into gender inequality in the effect of education level on the degree of supervisionThe aim of this article is to investigate whether the effect of individuals’ education level on the degree of supervision their position holds, differs between men and women and how this has changed over birth cohorts. Drawing on the human capital theory and the glass ceiling metaphor, hypotheses on gender differences in the returns to education and how these change with birth cohort and age, are formulated. The hypotheses are tested using data from the Dutch Labor Supply Panel. We find that the returns to education are smaller for women than for men. This is the case in all age groups and birth cohorts. However, no evidence was found that women from earlier cohorts profit more from their education than women from later cohorts. Women and men born between 1961 and 1970 have the highest returns to education, as well as middle aged women and men.1

Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a separation technique in which the stationary phase is a liquid. Diethylhexyl phosphoric acid (DEHPA) forms reverse micelles in heptane. Metallic ions, located in an aqueous phase, can be extracted into the aqueous core of the reverse micelles in the heptane phase. A CCC apparatus can be considered as a powerful mixing and extracting machine with efficiency above several hundreds of theoretical plates. La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, and Nd3+ lanthanide cations were separated using CCC with a DEHPA-containing heptane stationary phase. Studying the retention variations with aqueous mobile phase pH, it was possible to determine the lanthanide extraction constants and separation coefficients. Overloading conditions are described. Frontal chromatography was performed using a Co2+ and Ni2+ solution. The Co2+ ions were concentrated in the heptane + DEHPA stationary phase, a part of the solution was deionized, and another part was enriched in only Ni2+ ions. This method also produced the extraction constants and separation coefficients. The use of CCC with a complexing stationary phase can be applied to any cation for ion filtering and concentration, or for deionization of aqueous phases. The comprehensive ecological index system for cities of Jilin Province was formed by mean square difference method to analyze the annual level of social development, ecological and environmental development, economic development and comprehensive ecological environment for 4 eco-polluted cities (Jiutai, Dehui, Dunhua, Yanji) during 2002-2012. Then the effect on improving urban ecological environment by building diversion dam was evaluated quantitatively for each city. The comprehensive ecological index values of cities had all represented a smooth upward tendency except a marked growth in 2007. The diversion dam could significantly promote the comprehensive urban ecological environment level for cities of Jiutai, Dunhua and Yanji, but not for the city of Dehui.
