The Indonesian literary tradition during the reform period was marked by the rise of female writers who raised the issue of feminism. Within the framework of locality and contextuality, the feminism movement echoed by female writers comes in diverse expressions. This study aims to describe the reference figures and issues of Islamic feminism that are represented in novels by Abidah El Khalieqy. This research uses a feminist literary criticism approach. The data sources of the research are three novels by Abidah El Khalieqiy, namely Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, Geni Jora, and Mataraisa. The technique used to gather feminist voices in the three novels is a close reading. The analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study are as follows. First, Islamic feminist figures who were referred to by the feminism movement were Fatima Mernisi and Riffat Hassan. Fatima Mernisi is known as a misogonic hadith critic, while Riffat Hassan uses the hermeneutic principle in the interpretation of the Quran. Second, the issues of feminism represented are: the lives of women in the pesantren tradition, the position of women in the family, the view of normal sexual relations and relationships, and the interpretation of the hadiths and verses of the Qur'an relating to women. Islamic feminism voiced by Abidah El Khalieqy brings its own color compared to the Western feminism movement which refers to the concept of ecriture feminine. Dalam bingkai lokalitas dan kontekstualitas, gerakan feminisme yang digaungkan para penulis perempuan hadir dalam ekspresi yang beragam. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tokoh rujukan dan persoalan feminisme Islam yang direpresentasikan dalam novel-novel karya Abidah El Khalieqy. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kritik sastra feminis. Sumber data penelitian adalah tiga novel karya Abidah El Khalieqiy, yaitu Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, Geni Jora, dan Mataraisa. Teknik yang dipakai untuk mengumpulkan suara-suara feminisme di dalam ketiga novel adalah pembacaan cermat (close reading). Analisis dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, tokoh feminis Islam yang menjadi rujukan gerakan feminisme adalah Fatima Mernisi dan Riffat Hassan. Fatima Mernisi dikenal dengan kritik hadist misogonis, sedangkan Riffat Hassan dengan prinsip hermeneutika dalam tafsir Alquran. Kedua, persoalan feminisme yang direpresentasikan adalah: kehidupan perempuan dalam tradisi pesantren, kedudukan perempuan dalam keluarga, pandangan terhadap relasi dan hubungan seksual yang normal, dan tafsir terhadap hadist dan ayat Al-quran berkaitan dengan perempuan. Feminisme Islam yang disuarakan Abidah El Khalieqy membawa warna tersendiri dibandingkan dengan gerakan feminisme Barat yang merujuk pada konsep ecriture feminine. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan ketersebaran gagasan feminisme, yakni apakah gagasan tersebut juga menjangkau kaum lelaki? Penelitian ini menggunakan teori feminisme dan berpijak pada data berupa dua sajak yang ditulis penyair laki­laki, yakni sajak “Adam di Firdaus” karya Subagio Sastrowardojo dan sajak “Perempuan” karya Emha Ainun Nadjib. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa corak feminisme dalam puisi tidak hanya didominasi oleh penyair perempuan. Beberapa sajak yang ditulis oleh penyair laki­laki seperti Subagio Sastrowardojo dengan sajaknya "Adam di Firdaus" dan Emha Ainun Nadjib dengan sajaknya "Perempuan" juga menunjukkan gagasan feminisme. Namun, berbeda dengan sajak feminis yang ditulis oleh penyair perempuan yang umumnya menghadirkan perempuan sebagai korban ideologi gender, dalam sajak feminis yang ditulis oleh penyair laki­laki kesadaran feminisme dan kesetaraan gender baru muncul setelah perempuan direpresentasikan sebagai korban ideologi gender. Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the spreads of the idea of feminism, i.e., whether the idea will also reach out to the men. This study uses feminist theory and is based on the data in the forms of two poems written by two male poets, "Adam di Firdaus” by Subagio Sastrowardojo and "Perempuan” by Emha Ainun Nadjib. The result shows that the colour of feminism in poetry is not dominated by female poets. Some poetries written by male poets such as Subagio Sastrowardojo with his poem "Adam di Firdaus" and Emha Ainun Nadjib with his poem "Perempuan" also show the idea of feminism. However, different from poetries of feminism written by female poets which commonly represents woman as a victim of gender ideology, in poetries of feminism written by male poets, the awareness of feminism and gender equality appear after the woman is represented as a victim of gender ideology. Este artigo tem como foco uma análise do texto “A mulher e a arte” (sem data), da escritora carioca Júlia Lopes de Almeida (1862-1934). Este escrito, recém-publicado na íntegra pela primeira vez, em revista acadêmica, constitui uma conferência da autora na qual ela expõe suas opiniões sobre o tema da arte de autoria feminina, tecendo uma série de críticas de cunho feminista à desigualdade entre os gêneros no espaço da criação artística. Em seu texto, a literata cita diversos nomes de artistas e intelectuais mulheres, de modo a sustentar seu argumento em defesa da potência criativa feminina e assinalar a importância da transformação da cultura patriarcal. In her text, Júlia lists several names of artists and women intellectuals, in order to support her argument in defense of the feminine creative power and point out the importance of the transformation of patriarchal culture. Thus, from the historiographic perspective and based on feminist epistemology, we seek to emphasize the conference as fundamental for the study of female and feminist writing feminists in Brazil between the 19th and 20th centuries.Keywords: Júlia Lopes de Almeida. Using data from the 1983 Euro-Barometer survey, this article examines the extent, determinants, and consequences of feminist consciousness among Western European women. The results indicate a surprising degree of feminist consciousness in Western Europe, with more than a third of women classified as feminists. The extent of feminism varies across countries, with nearly half of women in France and Italy but only a quarter of women in Britain classified as feminists. Age, education, religiosity, and ideology are the strongest predictors of feminism, although there is meaningful cross-national variation in the determinants of feminism. Finally, feminist consciousness is associated with more liberal positions on most political issues, particularly those that involve sympathy for the disadvantaged, and with the willingness to consider supporting a leftist party.

The question of conservative feminism in the United States did not really arise before the 2008 elections; most politically active conservative women leaders did not refer to themselves as feminists. Sarah Palin's vice presidential bid, however, prompted a shift. On a number of well-publicized occasions, Palin called herself a feminist, generating considerable discussion over whether conservative feminism is now a political movement. Using data from in-depth interviews with conservative women leaders, this article asks whether conservative women in the United States identify as feminists. Findings indicate that on the whole they do not, but conservative women are important gender-conscious political actors whose efforts compel questions about ideology and women's activism. Implications for understanding feminist and conservative movement politics more broadly are also explored.

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan aspek seksualitas tokoh Lingga dalam cerpen “Lelaki dengan Bibir Tersenyum” karya Radhar Panca Dahana dan menginterpretasikannya dalam perspektif feminisme. Penelitian bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik studi pustaka. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori feminis. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa dalam cerpen “Lelaki dengan Bibir Tersenyum” aspek seksualitas tokoh Lingga mencerminkan kebebasan bagi perempuan dalam melakukan aktivitas seksual sebagaimana yang diinginkannya. Hal ini sejalan dengan yang diperjuangkan oleh kaum feminis radikal-libertarian. Namun, jika dikaitkan dengan makna yang terkandung dalam nama Lingga, terdapat maksud tersirat dalam cerpen ini yang menunjukkan dominasi seksual sesungguhnya tetap berada pada pihak laki-laki.Abstract:The aim of this study is to describe sexuality aspect of Lingga in short story entitled “Lelaki dengan Bibir Tersenyum” written by Radhar Panca Dahana. It is also intended interprete it within feminism perspective. This is a descriptive-qualitative research. The data is collected by using literary method. The data analysis applied feminism theories as references. The result showed that the sexuality aspects of Lingga reflects a freedom for women in committing whatever sexual activity as they expect to. This is in line with what radical-lybertarian feminists struggle for. Yet, if it is associated to the meaning of the word lingga, there is an implicit intention to suggest that sexual domination actually remains on the male side.

Abstract Certain farm women's organizations continue to represent the social feminist tradition of Canadian suffragism and the broader social Catholic feminism still influential elsewhere. Canadian historians have often criticized such groups in contrast with a more aggressive, equal-rights feminism found among urban and rural women in both waves of feminism. We argue that, far from being conservative, groups identified as social feminist serve to integrate farm women into public debates and political action, including feminism. We outline the history of the Cercles de fermières of Québec, founded in 1915, and the French Groupements de vulgarisation-développement agricoles féminins, founded since 1959. A comparison of members with nonmembers in each country and across the group, based on survey data collected in 1989 for 389 cases, suggests that club involvement has counteracted demographic characteristics expected to produce antifeminism. In general, we find less hostility to second-wave feminism than might be expected. Relying mainly on responses to open-ended questions, we argue that, for our subjects, feminism is tempered by distaste for confrontation. Issues supported by the movement for women's liberation are favoured by farm women, but the liberationist style and tactics are eschewed. Those of our respondents identified as feminists express preference for a complementarity modelled on the idealized family.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan dan laki-laki memiliki kesempatan yang sama dalam melakukan kebaikan baik di ranah domestik maupun publik. Di dalam novel Kota Kaum Cadar karya Zoe Ferraris peran perempuan diposisikan sejajar dengan laki-laki dalam konteks berbuat kebaikan guna memeroleh remunerasi pahala dari Tuhan.Secara feminisme profetik melalui deskripsi peran tokoh perempuan dalam novel ini ditemukan pula nilai-nilai berupa; nilai humanis(amar ma’ruf), nilai liberasi (nahi munkar), nilai transedensi(tu’mina billah). Ketiga nilai tersebut saling berkaitanerat dengan nilai-nilai kebaikandalam kehidupan keluarga dan masyarakat.Kata kunci: nilai, feminisme profetik, ketimpangan genderPROPHETIC FEMINISM VALUES IN THE NOVEL KOTA KAUM CADARBY JOE FERRARISAbstract.The differences between men and women always lead to social differences and status, including gender inequality. Women are still placed and considered inferior to men and tend to have a lower status. Based on prophetic feminism, the role of women as domestic servants is not a problem, because women still have values of benefits eventhough they just stay at home. The aim of this study is to describe prophetic feminism value in the novel Kota Kaum Cadar by Zoe Ferraris. The research was conducted by using a qualitative descriptive method and the data were collected through reading and documentation techniques. The primary data in this research was prophetic feminism value in Kota Kaum Cadar novel by Zoe Ferraris. The results of the study showed that men and women have the same opportunities in exposing positive activities in local or public areas in order to get God’s rewards. The other prophetic feminist values that were found through the description of women’s character in this novel are humanization values (amar ma’ruf), liberation value (nahi munkar) and transcendence value (tu’mina billah).Keywords: values, prophetic feminism, gender inequality

This research is based on the development of feminism values in the community. In a patriarchal environment, women have a low position compared to men. Women are subordinated in various fields of life, such as in the fields of education, social affairs and economics. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with a feminist literary criticism approach. The research method used is content analysis with data collection techniques read and record. The data source in this study is the novel “Merry Riana: Mimpi Sejuta Dollar” by Alberthiene Endah. Based on the results of the research, in the novel “Merry Riana: Mimpi Sejuta Dollar” by Alberthiene Endah there are values of feminism which include: (a) the value of feminism in education, (b) the value of feminism in the social field, and (c) the value of feminism in the economic. In The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, Allison Nelson was characterized as an inspiring woman who fought for her dreams. Meanwhile, Noah Calhoun was described as a loving man that respected Allison as a woman. This novel contained traits of rich liberal feminism. The purpose of the present research was to find out the traits of Noah Calhoun and Allison Nelson as the main characters that represented liberal feminism in the novel. The method of this research was textual analysis to analyze the traits. Data collection was linguistics unit corpora recorded in written forms. The finding of this research can be stated that Noah Calhoun and Allison Nelson were categorized as liberal feminists. Their traits were a combination of positive feminine and masculine traits. The traits of the main characters as liberal feminists were appreciative, forceful, strong, devoted, firm, sensitive, confident, patient, carefree, responsible, and independent.

The research aimed to examine feminism values on the posters of Yogyakarta’s students’ demonstration the #Gejayanmemanggil. Data collection technique was conducted by reading and note-taking techniques. From social media (Instagram), read the posters for several times, made a reduction for the data, and analyzed the feminism values which were reflected in the data based on the discourse or textual aspects. In the findings, the use of feminist languages, which contained the feminism values was revealed, in order to correlate it with the previous studies and theories. It was affected by the positive and negative meanings of the words and their impact on the audience. Discourse analysis was the proper way to examine the hidden ideologies of discourse. It revealed the discursive structures and manipulative language of the speakers or writers. The results reveal that the posters on the demonstration #Gejayanmemanggil contain feminism values as reflected in the feminist languages which support the ideology. Therefore, based on the findings of the research which conducts a discourse analysis in examining mass communication, language has enormous powers in appealing to emotions, manipulating someone’s thoughts and behavior, as well as misrepresenting the realities.

This article starts with the occasion of the 2012 London Olympics as “The Women’s Olympics” and looks both backward and forward to situate this occasion within the global north’s discourses of global human rights and neoliberal feminism. The global north’s coverage of the 2012 Olympics and Oiselle’s branding campaigns of Sarah Attar acts as data. I use transnational feminist analysis in combination with Foucauldian discourse analysis to trace how the global north’s discourses of human rights and neoliberal feminism travel and operate in transnational sporting contexts. As such, I trace the female athlete’s representation as white, middle-class, and heterosexual as a regime of truth. The discourses of human rights and neoliberal feminism, when networked with commodified images of women from the middle east and the politics of US feminism and the middle east, uncovers the neoliberal feminist cultural logics surrounding the branding of Attar.

Prostitution or prostitution is a phenomenon in people's lives and is considered a "social problem". The general view states that the emergence of prostitution is based on a sense of women's helplessness in aspects of life when compared to men. This perception is not only found in social reality. The condition of women as objects also appears in literary works, as a reflection of people's perceptions. Therefore, it takes a study in the perspective of feminism, especially radical feminists to explore the issue of prostitution that occurs in women. The feminist literary criticism approach was carried out in this study with the type of qualitative research. Data was taken from the collection of Genduk Dukuh Seti short stories written by Rohana Handaningrum. The study was conducted aimed at describing the elements of radical feminism found in texts. The results of this study indicate that there are elements of radical feminism in the cepen group. The power relations of men and women are shown in the doctrine of marriage and the traditional ties that bound women. Whereas the removal of virginity and prostitution is a form of women's power over their bodies.

This study aims to evaluate the religious and the alternate discourses on women’s political rights in Pakistan; such debates were heightened and intensified as a result of General Zia-ul-Haq’s Islamization vision and policies implemented between 1977 to 1988. Zia-ul-Haq’s Islamization is argued to have polarized women’s participation in politics and challenged the standing of feminist groups, Islamic feminists, and secularists, which made Islam and women’s political participation the subject of debates that are still relevant in the case of Pakistan. The paper argues that Pakistani state’s Islamic disposition in general and Zia-ul-Haq’s Islamization in particular provoked religious conservatism and promoted gender-based discrimination that deeply affected women’s political participation. This study seeks to reconcile the different perspectives of Islamic and secular feminism for realizing the goals of effective participation of women in politics. The paper uses a qualitative research method concentrating on thematic analysis, which employs for identifying and analyzing patterns or themes within qualitative data analysis approaches. The findings suggest that in the case of women rights, Islamic feminism and secular feminism are compatible and complementary, and a synthesis of both is imperative to realize the effective participation of women in politics.

This research is based on the fact that novels are still popular in Indonesia with a background of women who are portrayed as weak creatures compared to men from all aspects. Novels with a theme like this are still very popular today, even though novels are one of the media to convey information to society so that people's perceptions of women are shaped like that. The purpose of this research is to describe the representation of feminism in the economic and social aspects of the novel Namaku Dahlia. The type of research used in this research is qualitative descriptive analytical method. The data source in this research is the novel Namaku Dahlia by Syafrizaldi. The data collection technique used is literature. The theory used in this research is feminism. The results of this study indicate that the novel Namaku Dahlia contains feminist ideas specifically in the economic and social fields. The results showed that there were four data representing feminism on the economic aspect and three data representing feminism on the social aspect.

Seiring berkembangnya zaman, tradisi yang mengengkang kebebasan kaum perempuan mulai diperjuangkan untuk dihapuskan melalui gerakan feminisme. Penyuaraan hak-hak perempuan tidak hanya dilakukan melalui gerakan-gerakan secara nyata, namun juga dilakukan secara halus dengan memasukkan ideologi-ideologi feminsime melalui karya sastra. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk ketidakadilan gender dan bentuk perlawanan perempuan terhadap stigma inferioritas yang selama ini melekat pada diri perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kritik sastra feminis. Sumber data penelitian adalah novel Midah (Si Manis Bergigi Emas) karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan novel Di Balik Kerling Saatirah karya Ninik M. Kuntarto. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data-data bentuk feminisme yang ada di dalam kedua novel tersebut adalah dengan membaca kritis dan membaca berkesinambungan. Analisis dilakukan dengan cara (1) kodifikasi data, (2) pengelompokan data, (3) interpretasi makna teks, (4) deskripsi bentuk ketidakadilan gender dan bentuk perlawanan gender, serta (5) penyimpulan hasil analsisis. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, ketidakadilan gender dialami oleh dua sosok perempuan dalam dua novel berbeda, yaitu Midah dan Saatirah. Midah mendapatkan perlakuan tidak adil dari perjodohan yang dilakukan oleh orangtuanya dan dia juga mendapatkan ketidakadilan dari sosok pria yang menjadikannya budak pemuas nafsu. Saatirah mendapatkan perlakuan tidak adil dalam hubungan rumah tangganya. Kedua, bentuk perlawanan yang dilakukan oleh Midah dan Saatirah adalah dengan berusaha bangkit dari keterpurukan untuk membuktikan eksistensinya dan berusaha memperoleh kebahagian dengan cara yang mereka kehendaki tanpa ada campur tangan dari orang lain. Voicing women's rights is not only done through real movements, but also subtly by incorporating feminine ideologies through literary works. This study aims to describe the form of gender injustice and the form of women's resistance to the inferiority stigma that has been attached to women. This study uses a feminist literary criticism approach. Sources of research data are the novel Midah (Si Manis Bergigi Emas) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and the novel Di Balik Kerling Saatirah by Ninik M. Kuntarto. The technique used to collect data on the forms of feminism in both novels is critical reading and continuous reading. The analysis was carried out by (1) data codification, (2) data grouping, (3) interpretation of the meaning of the text, (4) descriptions of forms of gender injustice and forms of gender resistance, and (5) concluding the results of the analysis. The research results are as follows. First, gender injustice is experienced by two female figures in two different novels, namely Midah and Saatirah. Midah received unfair treatment from an arranged marriage by her parents and he also received injustice from a male figure who made her a slave to the satisfaction of lust. Saatirah received unfair treatment in her household relationship. Second, the form of resistance carried out by Midah and Saatirah is to try to rise from adversity to prove their existence and try to get happiness in the way they want without interference from others. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi representasi feminisme pada lagu dangdut koplo Jawa. Tidak banyak yang mengkaji lagu dangdut koplo Jawa dari perspektif feminisme. Padahal, secara historis, Jawa memiliki agen-agen pergerakan untuk feminisme yang secara faktual seharusnya mempengaruhi kesusastraan dan kesenian Jawa. Ada lima lagu dalam bentuk transkrip sebagai data yang diperoleh dengan mentranskripsi lagu dangdut koplo Jawa dari YouTube. Data lalu dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis van Dijk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lagu-lagu dangdut koplo Jawa merepresentasikan kesetaraan perempuan terhadap laki-laki. Peran perempuan diungkapkan tidak lagi sebagai second sex, yang sepenuhnya sebagai ibu rumah tangga, tetapi mereka memiliki kesempatan untuk memilih masa depan secara independen. Sementara itu, feminisme dinyatakan secara langsung dan tidak langsung di dalam lagu dengan menggunakan bahasa kiasan dalam bentuk metafora.This research investigated the representation of feminism in Javanese koplo dangdut song. These songs have got little attention in terms of feminism representation. Meanwhile, historically, Javanese society has factual agents of movement for feminism who should be influencing to the Javanese arts and literature.There arefive transcriptions of the songs as the data which collected by transcripting the songs from YouTube. The collected data were then analysed by applying van Dijk frame work of critical discourse analysis. The results show that most of the songs present gender equality between men and women. The role of women is not only presented as the second sex or as mainly a house wife, but they have opportunities to choose their own future life independently. This condition is suggested by using indirect language or using metaphoric expressions.

Despite persistent gender inequalities, the public relations (PR) industry in the United Kingdom has historically reflected unease with feminism. However, indications of a ‘new feminist visibility’ raise significant questions. Do these feminist moves reflect a blossoming of feminist practice in the PR industry? Or rather, in an occupation that is strongly intertwined with neoliberalism and promotional culture, is the PR industry emblematic of a highly individualised ‘neoliberal feminism’ and a postfeminist sensibility in which ‘multiple and contradictory ideas’ coexist? Adopting Edley’s discourse analysis framework, data drawn from interviews with seven senior female practitioners, supported by observational data, were critically explored in relation to the literature in gender sociology, cultural studies and feminist literature in PR. While the online presence of women’s networks in PR provide evidence of a feminist visibility to address inequalities, the ‘subject positions’ and ‘interpretative repertoires’ in the data were characteristic of neoliberal feminist individualism that calls upon women to provide for their own needs and aspirations through ‘self help’ measures. Furthermore, while sex discrimination in the PR industry featured prominently within the discursive repertoires of some participants, inequalities in everyday agency practice were either left unchallenged in response to client expectations or tackled through individual actions. Contradictory repertoires, including the repudiation of sexism, were indicative of entrepreneurial discourse and a postfeminist sensibility. Senior PR women providing client services appear to have limited scope beyond individualised, performative strategies to challenge the structures that perpetuate inequalities in PR and bring about transformative change. Although findings are limited to a small-scale study, this article contributes a unique perspective of the intersections between neoliberalism, third wave feminism, postfeminism and performativity within the UK PR industry.

The purpose of this study is describe feminism and the resilience of women in the world of work in Indonesia and Iceland. Feminism as a system of ideas, as a framework and study of social life and human experience that evolved from a women-centered perspective. In Indonesia and Iceland, this is a long history as a reflection of the responsibility regarding the reality of gender inequality. In this study researchers used a research method with the type of literature study. Data collection techniques that utilize secondary data obtained through the library and then described and analyzed to extract from the literature such as books, journals, report, documents and other materials that support this research. Based on the results and discussion that has been presented, it can be concluded that feminism is increasingly developing and being recognized by the world. Feminism and the resilience of women in these two countries have shown that women have great opportunities in the development of the world of work, politics and other fields. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan feminisme dan ketahanan perempuan dalam dunia kerja di Indonesia dan Islandia. Feminisme sebagai sistem gagasan, sebagai kerangka kerja dan studi kehidupan sosial dan pengalaman manusia yang berevolusi dari perpsektif yang berpusat pada perempuan. Di Indonesia dan Islandia, hal ini adalah sejarah panjang sebagai cerminan dari tanggung jawab tentang realitas ketidaksetaraan gender. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian dengan jenis kajian kepustakaan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik penelitian kepustakaan yang memanfaatkan data sekunder yang diperoleh melalui perpustakaan kemudian di deskripsikan dan dianalisis untuk disarikan dari literatur seperti buku, jurnal, laporan, dokumen dan bahan lain yang mendukung penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan yang telah dipaparkan dapat disimpulkan bahwa feminisme semakin lama semakin berkembang dan diakui oleh dunia. Feminisme dan ketahanan perempuan di dua negara ini sudah menunjukkan bahwa kaum perempuan memiliki peluang besar dalam perkembangan dunia kerja, politik dan bidang lainnya.

While coming out or the telling of sexual selves for LGBTQ+ people is often seen as the final step toward living a free and healthy life, lesbians who also identify as feminists embark on a life-long journey in which the plot ebbs and flows around activism and mobilization. Their goal is not only to come out, but to be out. Both cisgender radical-lesbian feminists and trans feminists consider coming out as not only crucial for the realization of self, but also an important tactic for taking up space and intervening in a heteronormative world. But, while the original theories of radical feminism advocated a fierce anti-essentialism, some contemporary radical feminists continue to focus on biology and questions like “what is a woman?” I hope to refocus the question to ask: how are narrative audiences, discursive forms of text, and spaces important for feminists as they realize lesbian or trans identities and communities? Data come from a historical printed newsletter by self-described radical feminists practicing lesbian separatism and two current micro-blogs, one surrounding radical-feminist narratives and the other around trans feminism. Through a textual analysis, I show how self-proclaimed radical feminists and trans feminists use poetic and emotive writing to produce different kinds of narratives about coming out and being out in different spaces and for unique audiences. Ultimately, these discursive forms are important for communities as members’ stories challenge and are impacted by public narratives of gender, essentialism, and cis- and hetero-normativity.

This research used qualitative descriptive method using content analysis as the research method. This research used reading and taking note as collecting the data, and technique of analysis data in this research are reading the whole poems, interpreting poems, and making the conclusion. The result of this research were findings showed that there were 64 data contained, 59 data in general meaning and detailed meaning in poems and there were 5 data in kinds of feminism in poems. This research concluded the kinds of feminism, they are Liberal Feminism, Radical Feminism, Psychoanalytic Feminism, Marxist Feminism, Socialist Feminism, Multicultural Feminism, Eco feminism, and Postmodern feminism, this research also concluded the kinds of feminism in the poems, they are; poem Daddy (Radical feminism, Marxist feminism, Socialist feminism), poem Lady Lazarus (Marxist feminism), poem Last word (Marxist feminism).

Social networks and interpersonal ties are critical to social movements. They help recruit members, sustain organizations, nourish participants' movement identities, and disseminate information. Scholarship has pointed to the formative role of social media and other information and communication technologies in online and offline mobilization. Questions remain, however, regarding how online social and friendship networks shape social movements. In this article, I draw from literature on social networks, online mobilization, and women's movements to examine the role of online feminist social networks in feminist mobilization. Presenting qualitative data from a racially and geographically heterogeneous group of college feminists, I argue that Facebook and feminist blogs enlarge and nourish feminist networks, create online feminist communities, expand recruitment bases for online and offline mobilization, and increase opportunities for online interaction with adversaries. Finally, I consider generational shifts in the feminist movement, and the broader relationship between friendship networks and online and offline mobilization.

While much feminist STS has focused on science and laboratories as sites of critical engagement, feminism and feminist theory has introduced alternative sites of knowledge production and engagement. This essay draws on new materialism and feminist theories of nature, embodiment and technology in order to analyze the disabled cyborg body as an epistemic site of feminist science. In particular, I analyze my own experience of adopting and using networked technologies—specifically, an insulin pump and glucose monitor--to manage Type 1 diabetes and the kinds of scientific practices that I engage in on a daily basis. These technologies and practices deserve attention in terms of what they can teach us about common discourses around science, innovation and infrastructure and, ultimately, about ourselves.

Abstract: Sociology of literature is widely used in Indonesian literary criticism since its introduction in 1978 by Sapardi Djoko Damono. However, there is a doubt in recent Indonesian literary criticism to accept feminist literary criticism in some way as part of sociology of literature whilst it is already that feminism deals with social construct and patriarchy practice in society. This article aims to show that sociology of literature in the form of feminist sociology and feminist literary criticism are not contradictory as one claims. This is a systematic literature review. The method of collecting data is extensive close reading on sociology of literature, feminist sociology, and feminist literary criticism. Based on the extensive close reading, there are at least five models can be used in feminist sociologal approach: through reading agenda, using anachronistic reading, on the marketing strategy and endorsement, on the situation of the readers’ activity, and based on writer’s situation and consciousness. This article shows that feminist sociological approach in literature and feminist literary criticism are not in conflict as the two come from feminism.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan diskriminasi kelas dan gender dalam novel Kastakarya Witri Prasetyo Aji yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2017 oleh Bhuana Sastra, Jakarta. Tokoh perempuan bernama Ida Ayu Made Maharani (Rani) merupakan subjek yang digunakan pengarang untuk menggugat ketidakadilan atau diskriminasi kelas dan gender yang hidup dalam masyarakat Bali. Diskriminasi kelas dan gender yang dialami tokoh Rani adalah bahwa ia harus meninggalkan kekasihnya yang berbeda kelas (kasta) dan menikah dengan laki-laki yang sederajat demi mempertahankan kadar kebangsawanannya. Namun faktanya, ia harus menderita karena ia adalah perempuan (istri) yang dianggap tidak memiliki hak yang sama dengan laki-laki (suami). Sementara, kadar kebangsawanan juga tidak menjamin kemuliaan moral seseorang. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori feminisme. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik kepustakaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan feminis. Berdasarkan hasil pembacaan kritis dengan pendekatan feminisme kultural diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa perempuan Bali melalui tokoh utama perempuan dalam novel tersebut berupaya melakukan resistensi terhadap dominasi patriarki yang berlaku terhadap diri mereka. The purpose of this study is to reveal class and gender discrimination in the Kasta novel by Witri Prasetyo Aji published in 2017 by Bhuana Sastra, Jakarta. A female figure named Ida Ayu Made Maharani (Rani) is a subject used by the author to challenge injustice or class and gender discrimination living in Balinese society. Class and gender discrimination experienced by the character Rani is that he must leave his beloved of a different class (caste) and marry a man who is equal in order to maintain his level of nobility. But the fact is, she must suffer because she is a woman (wife) who is deemed not to have the same rights as a man (husband). Meanwhile, nobility also does not guarantee one's moral dignity. The theory used in this research is the theory of feminism. Data collection is done using library techniques. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis with feminist approach. Based on the results of the critical reading using the cultural feminism approach, it was concluded that Balinese women through the main female characters in the novel sought to resist the patriarchal domination that prevailed against them.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the forms of feminism and their implementation in the learning of novel texts in class XII of high school. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data source in this study is Ayu Utami's Saman novel. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that show the form of feminism in the novel. The subject of this research is the researcher himself with the help of other instruments in the form of a recording sheet. The data collection technique, which is reading and understanding Ayu Utami's Saman novel, conducts literature studies related to research problems, and searches and records data relating to research problems contained in the novel. The data validation technique uses triangulation techniques. The results of the study were found as participants. First, there are two forms of feminism in Ayu Utami's Saman novel, namely verbal and nonverbal forms. Verbal form is a form of the character's struggle through verbal utterances by the characters. And nonverbal forms are physical actions of characters. Second, the application of feminism in Ayu Utami's Saman novel in 2013 class XII high school text learning curriculum with basic competencies related to three aspects of assessment, namely the assessment of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. Women areconsidered as weak. Here, Sumarni appears as a main character who wants tospeak up rather than to be voiceless. This study is intended to give a model in howwoman can show her power through her utterances since woman wants to be equalin society. There were several steps in doing this study which have been done.Under the qualitative research, the data collection started from reading the noveland then selecting utterances. While the method of data analysis was done bygrouping Sumarni’s utterances, after that the utterances were analyzed byconsidering feminist stylistic elements at the level of sentence by using transitivitychoices and Wodak’s triangulatory approach. The result of this study reveals thatthe use of relational process is higher than material process intention andsupervention, and mental process internalized and externalized. From the findingabove, it can be seen that Sumarni appears as a not common woman since she canbe a sugarcane field owner and moneylender in the end of the novel. In addition,there is a feminism reality as realized by Sumarni that a woman must beindependent and be responsible both in society and family. Abstract Feminism exists in a perpetual identity crisis—with a vexed past, an unstable present, and an uncertain future. A scholar interested in this charged identity must manage such existential conditions in order to enable their transformative ambitions. Historicizing Post-Discourses (2017), Bodies of Information (2019), and Selling Women’s History (2017) take up this cognitive and corporeal challenge and largely meet it. In these three books, feminism’s endemic ambivalence becomes a resource for literary and cultural criticism. Focused on popular, digital, and material cultures in the twentieth- and twenty-first-century US, these volumes dramatize the merits and drawbacks of irresolution and resist a definitive conclusion about what feminism, both past and present, necessarily means for contemporary scholarship. Instead, we get alternative archives and, hopefully, better practices. Analyzing mass media, data visualizations, and consumer products, these studies engage new materials to flesh out the gendered, racialized human body at their common center. They rethink feminist historiography and demonstrate the myriad ways in which the sense of an ending continually renews and unsettles feminism’s search for a useable past. These works aim to create strategic alliances: they drive at embodied, material concerns, foreground questions of pedagogy and other modes of public interchange, and embrace a style of advocacy that rejects such extreme position-taking and instead embraces ambivalence.

Abstract: Kecap ABC Advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri is one of Kecap ABC advertisements produced from a series of campaigns called Suami Sejati Mau Masak, Terima Kasih Perasan Pertama launched by Heinz ABC Indonesia to express appreciation to the wife or mother in domestic work, one of which is cooking. This advertisement not only contains the aim of appreciating men for women in the kitchen but also conveys the message of feminism that is conveyed visually in the advertisements. The purpose of this study was to analyze the visual messages of feminism in the Kecap ABC advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri using the meaning of Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with Roland Barthes' semiotic approach with the stages of formulating the background, problems, objectives, formulating research methods, collecting data, analysis, discussion and conclusions. The result of this research is the analysis of selected scenes from the Kecap ABC advertisement in edition Suami Sejati Hargai Istri that most supports the visual message of feminism and then analyzed with Roland Barthes' denotative, connotative and mythical meanings of semiotics. As avid social media users, it is perhaps unsurprising that feminist teenage girls use their favorite platforms to engage in various forms of feminist activism. Yet, existing research has not explored how a growing number of social media platforms and their technological affordances uniquely shape how girls engage in online activism. I address this oversight by asking the following: Why are girls using particular platforms for feminist activism? How do certain platforms facilitate distinctive opportunities for youth engagement with feminist politics? and How might this shape the types of feminist issues and politics both made possible and foreclosed by some social media platforms? To answer these questions, I draw on ethnographic data gathered from a group of American, Canadian, and British teenage girls involved in various forms of online feminist activism on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. These data were collected as part of two UK-based team research projects. Using the concept of “platform vernacular,” I analyze how these girls do feminism across these different platforms, based on discursive textual analysis of their social media postings and interview reflections. I argue that teenage girls strategically choose how to engage with feminist politics online, carefully weighing issues like privacy, community, and peer support as determining factors in which platform they choose to engage. These decisions are often related to distinctive platform vernaculars, in which the girls have a keen understanding. Nonetheless, these strategic choices shape the kinds of feminisms we see across various social media platforms, a result that necessitates some attention and critical reflection from social media scholars.

Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menguraikan pesan-pesan yang terkandung dalam relief-relief Candi Sukuh yang dianggap tabu. Studi ini dilakukan karena Candi Sukuh dapat menjadi bukti bahwa jauh sebelum adanya gerakan feminisme, masyarakat berlatar agama Hindu-Buddha pada masa lampau telah mengakui perbedaan antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Perbedaan tersebut merupakan suatu konstruksi sosial yang dimengerti dalam hubungan kompromi laki-laki dan perempuan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif-interpretatif, dan data dianalisis dengan pendekatan multidesain. Teori Ikonografi digunakan untuk menganalisis pesan dari relief-relief Candi Sukuh, sedangkan teori feminisme diterapkan dengan pendekatan tubuh, seks, dan gender. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pesan feminisme pada relief kidung Sudhāmālā, relief linggā dan yoni, dan relief kālāmĕrgā. Kesimpulannya pesan gender yang disajikan di relief-relief Candi Sukuh berupa penolakan perempuan terhadap pengobjekan tubuhnya oleh laki-laki, yang dianggap memiliki otoritas terhadap tubuh perempuan. This research is focused to describe the messages contained in the reliefs of Candi Sukuh, which are considered taboo. This study was conducted because Candi Sukuh may well be an evidence that long before the existence of the feminism movement, the Hindu-Buddhist communities in the past have recognized differences between men and women. Such difference is a social construct which was understood in terms of compromising relations between men and women. The method used in this research was descriptive-interpretive, and data were analyzed using a multi-design approach. Theories of iconography were used to analyze messages of the reliefs of Candi Sukuh, whereas the theory of feminism was applied using approaches of body, sex and gender. Research results showed messages of feminism are contained in the Sudhāmālā hymn, reliefs of linggā and yoni, and the kālāmĕrgā relief. Conclusively, gender messages presented by the reliefs of Candi Sukuh informs the rejection of objectification of women’s body by men, who are considered to have authority over women's bodies.

In this article the international #MeToo movement is analysed from the perspective of Brazil: characteristics of the Brazilian feminist movement, historical paths and new approaches using social networks; #MeToo as one expression of new feminism; related movements and collectives and #EleNão (NotHim) as an offshoot of #MeToo and its failed attempt to avoid the 2018 election of a misogynist and chauvinist movement in Brazil. The campaign to denounce cases of assault neither prevent nor reduce the high femicide rates, with the country ranking fifth in the world and being qualified as one of the most dangerous places for women. Violence against women in Brazil continues to grow. The data from 2018 is alarming, and the country is losing only to El Salvador, Colombia, Guatemala and Russia. The trend will only increase given Brazil’s new political outlook. On the other hand, in the social networks Brazilian women have found the only possibility for being heard, and have slowly begun to make their voices heard by the judiciary system and traditional media. The return to feminist protest in the 2000s was marked by the rise of committees and marches with specifically feminist themes, such as the World Women’s March, the Marcha das Margaridas and SlutWalk.

This article discuss the gender question from the feminist perspective as part of the general struggle for female emancipation in the class struggle. It addresses this perspective creating a link between the main struggles of the journalist women for a respectful place of work and labour rights and the general feminist struggle along history. The argumentative line is based on bibliographic theoretic research, investigation on women conditions and profile data, as well as on research about the work of journalists with special attention to the work of female workers in new independent labour arrangements of media conglomerates. In conclusion, this article highlights the feminist protagonism and the necessity of professional engagement in defence of quality journalism as expression and place of speech for human rights and for its emancipation.O artigo trata da discussão sobre gênero a partir do feminismo como aspecto da luta geral pela emancipação das mulheres nos embates das classes sociais. Aborda essa perspectiva traçando um elo de continuidade entre as lutas mais específicas das mulheres jornalistas por seus direitos no mundo do trabalho e a luta mais geral das mulheres trabalhadoras ao longo da história. A linha argumentativa baseia-se em pesquisa teórica bibliográfica, em pesquisa de dados sobre perfil e condições das mulheres, e em pesquisa específica sobre o perfil dos jornalistas e de seu trabalho em novos arranjos independentes dos conglomerados de meios, dando destaque à situação de trabalho das mulheres jornalistas. À guisa de conclusão, o artigo destaca a luta feminista e sua importância para a coletividade, o engajamento das profissionais em defesa do jornalismo de qualidade e como expressão e lugar de fala dos direitos humanos, pela emancipação.El articulo discute la cuestión de género tiendo el feminismo como aspecto general por la emancipación en las luchas de las clases sociales. Esta perspectiva constituye uno eje de continuidad entre las luchas más específicas de las mujeres periodistas por sus derechos en el mundo del trabajo y las luchas de las mujeres trabajadoras al largo de la historia. La argumentación esta basada en investigaciones bibliográficas, en dados sobre perfil y condiciones de las mujeres, y en investigación específica sobre el perfil de los periodistas y del trabajo del periodista en nuevos arreglos periodísticos independientes de los conglomerados de medios, con destaque para la situación del trabajo de las mujeres periodistas. En conclusión, el artículo destaca la lucha feminista y su importancia para la colectividad y también como las periodistas luchan por un periodismo de cualidad y por expresión de las voces ciudadanas por los derechos humanos y de la emancipación ciudadana.

This research is entitled Liberal Feminist Values As Reflected In Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. This novel described a woman who broke her wedding because she wants to feel the love. Through Anna Karenina, she fought for her rights to express her opinion to her husband. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of the main character and feminist characteristics of the main character in the novel. Qualitative method is applied in this research. The main data source in this study is Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina and to complete the data source, this research also uses other books, reviews of novels, films and sources from the internet. The method of data analysis in this study is qualitative method. In this study, a feminist approach from Rosamarie Tong and "Liberal Feminists" from Betty Friedan are employed in this research. The researcher also analyzed the main characters by describing their characteristics using the theory from M.J. Murphy. Based on the analysis, the results of this study have produced several conclusions. First, character of Anna Karenina descriptions by people around her in some characterization there are beautiful, kind, loving, mysterious and negative thinking. Second, Anna Karenina struggle her opinion in public especially her husband. She wants to express and defending her opinion. However, seen from liberal feminism perspective the main character show direct resistence with maintains her opinion and ignore opinion from her husband.

Gender equity in recovery settings is the first topic we will tackle. Women represent just over 57% of the undergraduate college population in 2015 and are projected to climb to 58.8% of the total college population by 2024. While not as underrepresented as people of color in collegiate recovery programs (CRPs), women do make up a smaller share of CRP participants at 42.8%. While women are just as likely as men to become develop SUDs, they have lower rates of substance use and SUDs overall, and experience unique obstacles to treatment. Women of color may face additional obstacles and are at greater risk of being subjected to violence. We invite men, women, and transfolk alike to join our feminist recovery panel as we delve into issues of equity and inclusion. While some have deemed feminism, "the other "F" word, we will talk about how feminism benefits everyone. We bring an intersectional lens - realizing that no one shows up or experiences life through one aspect of identity. Our panelists will share from research, personal experience, and program data in order to describe how current societal structures inhibit the opportunities for women to get sober and work a program of recovery and the negative impact on men, collegiate recovery programs, higher education, and society as a whole. Considering an individual, group, and institutional framework for feminism, we hope to inspire attendees to challenge themselves to bring a feminist lens to their work to better create equity and access within collegiate recovery.

Women’s movement is in order to reach the equality of right with men in many aspects, such as politic, social, economy and culture. Everyone should be treated as equals unless special circumstances apply regardless of the role of men or women. The problem undertaken in this research relate to feminism, specifically on types of feminism within the female characters in the novel and the reflection of the feminism itself in the ongoing developments of the characters. The aims of the research are to elaborate types of feminism and their reflection on feminism in novel little women. This research used a qualitative descriptive method and the source of data taken from Little Women novel. As the result of the research, it described that there are four types of feminism from the novel little women. The characters in the novel reflected in Liberal feminism, Marxist feminism, Existentialist feminism, and Radical feminism. However, Feminism is reflected by the struggle of the characters in survival, in placing these lives in the world of men (patriarchy), in being comfort with themselves to do what they feel comfortable for her, as well as their protest form to no longer be the object of violence for men.

This article aims to assess the contention that a ‘feminist’ ideology is associated with a ‘cooling’ of intimacy in heterosexual relationships, as argued by scholars such as Arlie Hochschild and Eva Illouz. According to this thesis, such an ideology, ‘abducted’ by a commercial spirit, encourages women to disengage from warm intimate bonds with others and to prioritize their own personal fulfilment and parity in care and housework. Drawing on two qualitative empirical studies exploring couples’ intimate lives and their feminist and egalitarian preferences and practices in leave, care and housework, this article examines in detail the basis of this thesis, and its effectiveness in explaining the lived experiences of parent couples’ negotiations of this terrain. The data were collected through focus group discussions with parents not sharing leave and a detailed ethnography with couples sharing leave. The comparison shows that, far from observing a clear dichotomy between ‘cold’ feminists and ‘warm’ traditional couples, both sets of parents present a more complex picture of ‘warm’ and ‘cold’ relations. The analysis enables a critical appreciation of sociological theorizing about gender equality and intimacy, contributing to sociological debates around individualism, feminism and family life.

This research aims to determine and describe the relevance of the study of prophetic feminism in the Scappa per Amore duology by Dini Fitria with literature learning in senior high schools. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research to explain a problem with word description. The data in this research were collected using literature review and interview techniques. The research data were sourced from the literature and manuscript interviews. The results of the interview serve as the primary data in this research while the literature was used as the secondary data. The informants in this research were Indonesian language teachers in senior high schools in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis model which consists of four stages namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that there is relevance between the study of prophetic feminism in Dini Fitria's Scappa per Amore duology and the literature learning in senior high schools in terms of three aspects; they are 1) the study of prophetic feminism is suitable with the material in basic competence of interpreting the author’s view; (2) the study of prophetic feminism in the duology novel Scappa per Amore can be used as a teaching material in learning literature; and 3) the study of prophetic feminism influences scientific activities in senior high schools.

In recent years, extensive empirical data has indicated that acts of severe sexual assault are being perpetrated against large numbers of men in many areas of conflict around the world. In spite of such data, recognition of this problem within gender studies remains limited. This is due to many reasons including the opposition of a variety of feminism that is reluctant to acknowledge male victimhood. This paper argues that feminist reservations about a focus on male-directed sexual violence in conflict are unfounded, especially as adherence to dichotomous gender models of “male equals perpetrator/female equals victim” ignores the comparable suffering of male survivors. A feminist analysis is enriched and complemented by a focus on male survivors and on the gendered power relations that operate among men.
