Abstract In the famous “anti-Commons” theory, resources are underused when multiple owners are endowed with the right to exclude other potential users, in contrast to the “Commons” theory that identifies resource over-exploitation. In this crucial preliminary study, “Intestate Succession” (i.e. “Succession without Will”) is under investigation, thus evaluating whether the number of land cotenants (heirs, in “Intestate Succession”) affects significantly (or not) land market values, by taking into account certain significant economic variables, representing the whole population official and primary data, officially available from the municipal Serres Farmlands. Applying advanced GLM, we perform ANCOVA analysis, considering as dependent variable the market land value. We find that, controlling for the objective land value (IRS land value), location, irrigation, farmer identity, and land segmentation-fragmentation all affect significantly the market land value variable. Significantly, the number of heirs does not seem to be a significant factor yet in the context of the “anti-Commons” theory.

The rats were administered plant extracts and synthesis compounds orally via mouth for 15 days, Then the rats were dissected, the cysts were isolated, and their SDS page was measured.The results found in in vitro, all plant extracts, and synthesized compounds bands ranged from 67 to 17KD. In contrast, the protein bands of cysts varied from 67 to 17KD in vivo whereas Capparis spinosa and the synthetic chemical (5) showed no bands. This study recorded a clear effect on protein cotenants of C. tenuicollis which was treated with two plant extracts C. spinosa and S. aromaticum, and five novel chemical synthesized compounds in vitro and in vivo by SDS- PAGE as compared with untreated.

Abstract Our analysis (Baucells and Lippman [2001]) of the problem of legal hold-up in co-ownership, in which legal partition is the only remedy to force a sale, proceeded as if a sale of the asset could be effected at any time at a fixed price if the cotenants agree. Here we utilize the more realistic assumption that potential buyers appear intermittently (in accord with a Poisson process and that the price offered is drawn from a specified distribution). In applying the Nash bargaining solution, we select the disagreement point in accord either with Nash's methodology of rational threats or with reservation values. While neither methodology for selecting the disagreement point produces a credible threat when the agents incur legal costs, we argue that the rational threats approach produces more reasonable answers. Our main analysis considers the impact of a Poisson arrival of offers and an exponential time to court upon the optimal bargaining strategies of the cotenants.

The High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is the new standard which is designed to support High Definition (HD) and Ultra-HD video cotenants. In HEVC, several new coding tools are adopted in order to improve the coding efficiency and compression ratio but with a significant increase in the computational complexity comparing to the previous standard H.264/AVC. In this paper, we focus on reducing the complexity of the most consuming block in the HEVC decoder standard which is the intra prediction module. In this context, we propose an optimized hardware architecture dedicated to support the 34 modes of intra prediction module considering 4×4, 8×8 and 16×16 block sizes. The proposed design exploits the symmetric property between horizontal and vertical modes. Hence, we implement a new hardware architecture that factorizes the same hardware resources for both directions which leads to save the hardware cost, the power consumption and the processing time. Furthermore, the different block sizes are implemented independently in order to avoid memory overhead while accessing to the shared memory. The implemented design using Xilinx Zynq-based FPGA platform can process in real time the Ultra-HD video frame of resolution (4096×2048) at 232 MHz. As well, the synthesis results using the TSMC 180 nm CMOS technology provide similar performance than our FPGA implementation. Finally, the HW/SW implementation of full HEVC decoder can process the decoding of 15 FPS in best case for 240p video resolution with a gain of 60% in power consumption.
