This paper presents the development of a contactless sensing system and the dynamic evaluation of an air-bearing-based precision wafer positioning system. The contactless positioning stage is a response to the trend seen in the high-tech industry, where the substrates are becoming thinner and larger to reduce the cost and increase the yield. Using contactless handling it is possible to avoid damage and contamination. The system works by floating the substrate on a thin film of air. A viscous traction force is created on the substrate by steering the airflow. A cascaded control design structure has been implemented on the contactless positioning system, where the inner loop controller (ILC) controls the actuator which steers the airflow and the outer loop controller (OLC) controls the position of the substrate by controlling the reference of the ILC. The dynamics of the ILC are evaluated and optimized for the performance of the positioning of the substrate. The vibration disturbances are also handled by the ILC. The bandwidth of the system has been improved to 300 Hz. For the OLC, a linear charge-coupled device has been implemented as a contactless sensor. The performance of the sensing system has been analysed. During control in steady-state, this resulted in a position error of the substrate of 12.9 μm RMS, which is a little more than two times the resolution. The bandwidth of the OLC is approaching 10 Hz.

In communication and communication devices, power equipment, relay protection and automation terminals, in the electric power industry of "smart" cities and homes, in industry, in railway transport, microprocessor-based relay protection and automation devices, distributed generation installations, including renewable energy sources, and electricity storage, as well as "intelligent" automated information and measurement systems are beginning to be used. Contactless converters of direct and alternating currents of control and control systems are widely used in them. Their disadvantages are a narrow range of controlled currents, large dimensions and weight. Therefore, it is important to eliminate them. The paper discusses the general principles of construction of contactless converters of large direct currents, the main requirements for them, and shows the results of the development of one of the options proposed by us, universal contactless magneto-modulation converters of large direct currents with an extended range for various control and control systems. They differ from the known ones by an extended controlled range with small dimensions and weight, and increased accuracy and sensitivity. The converter has a simple and technological design with low material consumption and cost, and can control large direct currents, as well as alternating currents, without contact. The paper considers the errors from external magnetic fields of universal contactless converters of control and control systems. It is shown that the error from the external magnetic field does not exceed 0.08% if the number of sections of the measuring winding is even and with their symmetrical arrangement, and with their even increase-the error decreases. At the same time, the developed contactless converters can be widely used in industry, metallurgy, railway transport, agriculture, water and farming, as well as in the electric power industry of “smart” cities and homes and for checking electric meters at the place of their installation.

It is proposed to use it to automatically turn on or off the booster transformer winding when the input voltage changes to maintain the rated voltage of electricity consumers, as well as to create a power regulator for capacitor banks of reactive energy compensating devices.

The article considers contactless DC motors with discrete control of the current in the three- and two-section armature winding using the rotor position feedback signal by means of a converter containing six and four power transistors, respectively. The motors are additionally equipped with a pulse width modulator (PWM) and a rectifier of the rotor position sensor signals. In the PWM, the periodic line-to-line voltage is compared with the rectified sensor signals to produce periodic rectangular pulses with the duration depending on the rotor position, which close the power transistors. Since the motor torque without PWM and the rectified sensor signals vary in a sine wave manner with turning the rotor (i.e., in the same way), a lower motor torque pulsation is obtained. The sensor and PWM designs and operation are described, and the requirements for their output voltages are formulated. Expressions for the contactless DC motor electromagnetic torque and its limit values are obtained. It is established that the electromagnetic torque pulsation levels in the contactless DC motors with three- and two-section armature windings do not exceed 1 and 1.5%, respectively, which is significantly lower than the pulsation level in the well-known contactless motors (4%).

Acoustic levitation forces can be used to manipulate small objects and liquids without mechanical contact or contamination. This work presents analytical models based on which concepts for the controlled insertion of objects into the acoustic field are developed. This is essential for the use of acoustic levitators as contactless robotic grippers. Three prototypes of such grippers are implemented and used to experimentally verify the lifting of objects into an acoustic pressure field. Lifting of high-density objects (ρ > 7 g/cm3) from acoustically transparent surfaces is demonstrated using a double-sided acoustic gripper that generates standing acoustic waves with dynamically adjustable acoustic power. A combination of multiple acoustic traps is used to lift lower density objects (ρ≤0.25g/cm3) from acoustically reflective surfaces using a single-sided arrangement. Furthermore, a method that uses standing acoustic waves and thin reflectors to lift medium-density objects (ρ≤1g/cm3) from acoustically reflective surfaces is presented. The provided results open up new possibilities for using acoustic levitation in robotic grippers, which has the potential to be applied in a variety of industrial use cases.

The article presents the research of use of modern 3D measurement contact-less methods for quality inspection in automotive industry production. Experience with measuring parts and functional assemblies of complex shape and advantages of the optical methods of digitization are shown on a practical example of analysis of dimensional stability of car decorative strip plastic mouldings. The goal is to demonstrate that the modern methods of dimensional analysis of 3D products can significantly participate in optimization of the manufacturing process and ensuring higher quality of the products.Contact-less 3D systems, so called 3D scanners, were used for the measuring purposes. With their help, the tested sample were digitized in high resolution, and he obtained models of real parts underwent a thorough inspection of precision of shape and dimensions. The attention was directed primarily at the problematic spots – deviation of the strip ends when compared to the nominal CAD model. The analysis was performed using various alignment to the CAD model, thus contributing to finding context with respect to mounting points on the vehicle rails. Concurrently, an influence of galvanic plating on the accuracy of the product was studied.

Advances in lab-on-a-chip technologies are driven by the pursuit of programmable microscale bioreactors or fluidic processors that mimic electronic functionality, scalability, and convenience. However, few fluidic mechanisms allow for basic logic operations on rewritable fluidic paths due to cross-contamination, which leads to random interference between “fluidic bits” or droplets. Here, we introduce a mechanism that allows for contact-free gating of individual droplets based on the scalable features of acoustic streaming vortices (ASVs). By shifting the hydrodynamic equilibrium positions inside interconnected ASVs with multitonal electrical signals, different functions such as controlling the routing and gating of droplets on rewritable fluidic paths are demonstrated with minimal biochemical cross-contamination. Electrical control of this ASV-based mechanism allows for unidirectional routing and active gating behaviors, which can potentially be scaled to functional fluidic processors that can regulate the flow of droplets in a manner similar to the current in transistor arrays.

For years, contactless technology has evolved and NFC technology has emerged from RFID technology, which is labeled as short-field technology. Today, Bluetooth Beacon technology is also known and developed. All three technologies have a great application in tourism, such as contactless payment, toll collection, sharing of important information, access control, exchange of data between two smart devices, as well as many others. The aim of this paper is to indicate the significant application of contactless technologies in tourism, as well as to highlight the benefits and future implications of the examples presented.

Impedance cardiography is a technique developed with the intent of monitoring cardiac output. By inspecting a few properties of the obtained signal (impedance cardiogram (ICG), the left ventricular ejection time can be derived with certainty, and an estimate of cardiac output is available. This signal is nowadays used in non-invasive monitoring, requiring the placement of electrodes over the subject’s skin, either ECG-type or in the form of encircling bands. The work here reported describes the implementation steps and the results obtained when embedding the ICG circuitry in a wheelchair’s backrest. The subject is seated normally, is normally dressed, and is completely unaware that monitoring is taking place. That means that the variation of tenths of ohm produced due to the cardiac cycle has to be detected with electrodes having substantial coupling impedance. Contactless ICG with embedded sensors was developed and tested on fourteen healthy subjects. The signal was always acquired, although respiratory activity is also important, constituting a noteworthy innovation in the area.

This paper assesses possibilities of a new approach of control map applications on the screen without locomotive system. There is a project about usability of Eye Tracking System in Geoinformatic and Cartographic fields at Department of Geoinformatics at Palacky University. The eye tracking system is a device for measuring eye/gaze positions and eye/gaze movement ("where we are looking"). There is a number of methods and outputs, but the most common are "heat-maps" of intensity and/or time. Just this method was used in the first part, where was analyzed the number of common web map portals, especially distribution of their tools and functions on the screen. The aim of research is to localize by heat-maps the best distribution of control tools for movement with map (function "pan"). It can analyze how sensitive are people on perception of control tools in different web pages and platforms. It is a great experience to compare accurate survey data with personal interpretation and knowledge. Based on these results is the next step – design of "control tools" which is command by eye-tracking device. There has been elected rectangle areas located on the edge of map (AOI – areas of interest), with special function which have defined some time delay. When user localizes one of these areas the map automatically moves to the way on which edge is localized on, and time delay prevents accidental movement. The technology for recording the eye movements on the screen offers this option because if you properly define the layout and function controls of the map, you need only connect these two systems. At this moment, there is a technical constrain. The solution of movement control is based on data transmission between eye-tracking-device-output and converter in real-time. Just real-time transfer is not supported in every case of SMI (SensoMotoric Instruments company) devices. More precisely it is the problem of money, because eye-tracking device and every upgrade is very expensive. This constrains and their solutions are also discussed in paper. Main aim of the project is to design (both economically and technologically), optimal way how to record and convert eye-movement in a program with sophisticated control of movements.

The paper substantiates the need to use non-contact conversion and measurement of large direct currents using magnetic modulation contactless transducers of increased sensitivity for land reclamation, irrigation, industry, metallurgy and agriculture and water management in general, and the results of their design development are presented. It is shown that the developed converter, in contrast to the known ones, has increased accuracy and sensitivity, a technologically advanced design and low weight and dimensions with low material consumption and cost. Characteristics of information non-contact magnetic modulation converters statically are considered. It is shown that the value of the excitation value corresponds to a certain maximum value of the measured value. In this case, the maxima of the measured value, increasing in value with an increase in the excitation value, are shifted towards the increase in the measured value. The discrepancy between the experimentally and theoretically obtained static characteristics of the converter does not exceed 6 percent. The developed converter can be widely used in electrical systems in land reclamation and irrigation, in water supply, industry, railway transport, science, technology, and for checking electric meters at their installation site for contactless control of direct and alternating currents.

This paper presents an innovative method to investigate the accuracy and capability of contactless laser scanning systems in terms of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) control. The current work proposes a standard benchmark part with typical features conforming to different families of GD&T. The benchmark part designed consists of various canonical features widely used in an engineering and industrial applications. Further, the adopted approach includes the methodology for comparison of geometry using a common alignment method for contactless scanning system and a CMM. In addition, proposal of different scanning orientation methods for contactless system is also realized. Surface reconstruction of the benchmark model is achieved using different reverse engineering software, and results are analyzed to study the correlation between different geometries of contact and contactless system. Considering the contact based measurement as a reference, different models developed were analyzed and compared in terms of geometrical and dimensional tolerance. The proposal of standard benchmark part and methodology for GD&T verification will provide a simple and effective way of performance evaluation for various contactless laser-scanning systems in terms of deviations.

In the human–computer interaction field, a contactless interaction with large screens through gestures is very representative, and the recognition and filtering of gesture images are very important tasks. Aiming at solving the problems of interference and positioning drift of three-dimensional lidar sensors, this article proposes a contactless interactive control system based on switching filtering algorithm, which selects the Butterworth filtering and the modified strong tracking Kalman filter to be used in the filtering process. The proposed interactive system extracts and optimizes user gestures, maps the gestures to the screen, simulates mouse operations, and enables operations such as selection, sliding, zooming in and out, and others. This switching filtering algorithm effectively solves the accuracy problem of a single filtering algorithm and the rapidity of complex filtering algorithms in the signal processing step, and greatly improves the interaction accuracy without sacrificing too much processing time. The experimental results show that by applying the proposed switching filtering algorithm to a contactless human–computer interaction system, the system can achieve smooth gesture interaction. The proposed system can perform real-time interaction with multiple people, which fully verifies the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm.

In an inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) system, a primary capacitance is usually used to minimize the VA rating of power supply, and a secondary capacitance is adopted to maximize the power transfer. The changes of the secondary capacitance because of environmental temperature or other factors will alter the resonant frequency of the secondary side, and thus the power transfer capability is varied. In this study, the power transfer capability of ICPT systems is investigated in detail when the secondary capacitance changes. A resonant frequency control strategy is suggested to keep the system operation frequency to follow closely the secondary resonant frequency when the secondary capacitance varies. This new strategy is based on the synergic action of the system operation frequency and the primary capacitance. The performance of three frequency control methods, that is the resonant frequency control, the traditional variable frequency control, and the fixed frequency control, are compared when the secondary capacitance varies. A distinguish feature of a resonant frequency control is that the power transfer is an approximately linear function of the secondary capacitance. This linear characteristics facilitate a voltage control strategy being used to keep the load power unchanging when the secondary capacitance varies. A traditional viewpoint in an ICPT system is that maximizing of output power is achieved when the system operation frequency is equal to the secondary resonant frequency. Numerical simulations show that the power output by a resonant frequency control do not always dominate the power output from other two frequency control methods. This phenomenon suggests that above traditional viewpoint is a misconception, and should be reexamined. The power transfer capability of ICPT systems is an intricate function of the operational frequency, and thus resonant operations of the secondary side do not always guarantee maximizing the power transfer. A suitable control mechanism, such as the resonant frequency control, the variable frequency control, or the fixed frequency control, should be designed carefully according to the practical engineering requirement when the secondary capacitance varies.

The article defines the rational time of the train-to-train margin for an unregulated and regulated system of traction power supply. The energy efficiency of the system of contactless automatic voltage control was evaluated.

The paper substantiates the need to use non-contact conversion and measurement of large direct currents using non-destructive magneto modulation non-contact ferromagnetic transducers of increased sensitivity for the needs of land reclamation, irrigation, industry, metallurgy and, in general, agriculture and water management; the results of their design development are presented. It is shown that the developed converter, in contrast to the known ones, has increased accuracy and sensitivity, a technologically advanced design and small weight and dimensions with low material consumption and cost. The issues of reliability of magnetic modulation contactless converters are considered. The results of their research have been obtained. It is shown that the reliability of wide-range magneto modulation contactless converters of large direct currents is equal to 0.998 and taking into account catastrophic failures, their total reliability is 0.9969. The developed converter can be widely used in electrical systems in land reclamation and irrigation, in water supply, industry, railway transport, science, technology and for checking electrical meters at their installation site.

The results of experimental studies of a new device for automatic power control of capacitor banks, it can be stated that it fully meets the requirements.

Abstract This paper describes a new contactless conductivity detector, whose electrodes are constructed of microchannels filled with solution of KCl - called pseudoelectrodes. The lab-on-a-chip microdevice was fabricated in poly(dimethylsiloxane) PDMS, using a moulding technique. The mould was made from a dry negative photoresist with a thickness of 50 μm. During the tests, the dimension! and arrangement of pseudoelectrodes` microchannels were evaluated. The analyte was pumped into the microchannel using a syringe pump with a flow rate of 50 μL/min. Reproducible!changes of the signal were obtained.
