This chapter begins by observing that Christianity would have been unable to develop in the unprecedented way it did, had not the Roman Empire already opened up a vast domain to networks of communication. Kulikowski goes on to discuss two unforeseen consequences of Christianity’s success in eventually securing the adherence of emperors from Constantine onwards. First, Constantine’s decision to declare the rulings of the Council of Nicaea in 325 universally binding on all Christians, along with his successors’ concern to enforce orthodoxy, caused Christianity’s regional groupings and communication networks to gain the strength to survive the fall of the Empire in the West. Second, despite their intervention in church affairs, emperors could not serve as arbiters of matters of belief (all-important to Christians), so that laymen in search of guidance turned to alternative, and often competing, sources of authority.

This chapter features a study of a hospital implementing a permissive BYOD policy and a mobile text-messaging app. It’s hard to develop trust when teams are constantly changing, something essential for successful mobile text messaging. Their devices serve to reinforce job-role status and hierarchy differences. Finally, some people don’t want to combine their private and work conversations on a personal mobile device, the stakes being simply too high. Control still exists at multiple levels in this organization, even though mobile use is encouraged.

This chapter shows Eastern Canadian Arctic Inuktitut words are formed and used in the context of polysynthesis. It starts with a very basic classification of word-types along distributional lines: how various categories of morphemes combine or don’t combine with the same or other categories, in order to generate various types of words. On the basis of a number of examples, it will be shown that the lexicalization of morphemic groupings lies at the core of the Inuktitut lexicon. In contemporary language usage, this process of lexicalization may be either covert or overt. When covert, the combined meaning conveyed by the addition of each original morpheme in a word is mostly imperceptible to modern speakers, the only semantic function of the lexicalized word being to signify its new denotatum. When overt, however, it can serve as a powerful tool for creating new words apt at describing a world in constant change.

This chapter examines the evocation of Pearl White's star persona by avant-garde theorists and filmmakers ranging from Sergei Eisenstein to surrealist Robert Desnos. The avant-garde's reactions to White fall largely along movement lines. At once the embodiment of a low-culture narrative mode and a spectacular star object who transcended any particular plot line, White's pejorative status as “the most assassinated woman in the world” may have been more revealing than Jean Epstein originally intended. Whereas Epstein decried White's constant near-death experiences and numerous last-minute escapes as unrealistic pulp fiction, surrealists celebrated her as a “marvelous” apparition. This chapter compares the reactions of adherents of surrealism and impressionism to White and considers how Desnos and the surrealists attempted to transpose the “love and poetry” of her films into their own filmmaking practice. It suggests that White's legacy aside from international stardom exerted an influence upon the avant-garde movement, and that her influence had revolutionary potential for challenging the status quo.

This book studies the cohomology of locally symmetric spaces for GL(N) where the cohomology groups are with coefficients in a local system attached to a finite-dimensional algebraic representation of GL(N). The image of the global cohomology in the cohomology of the Borel–Serre boundary is called Eisenstein cohomology, since at a transcendental level the cohomology classes may be described in terms of Eisenstein series and induced representations. However, because the groups are sheaf-theoretically defined, one can control their rationality and even integrality properties. A celebrated theorem by Langlands describes the constant term of an Eisenstein series in terms of automorphic L-functions. A cohomological interpretation of this theorem in terms of maps in Eisenstein cohomology allows the authors to study the rationality properties of the special values of Rankin–Selberg L-functions for GL(n) × GL(m), where n + m = N. The book carries through the entire program with an eye toward generalizations. The book should be of interest to advanced graduate students and researchers interested in number theory, automorphic forms, representation theory, and the cohomology of arithmetic groups.

<p>Las empresas recuperadas por sus trabajadores configuran un territorio en tensión y poseen una forma de gestión que debe administrar en forma equilibrada la eficiencia con la democracia. El objetivo de la tesis fue explorar las innovaciones que se producen en la organización del trabajo en las empresas recuperadas en la Argentina actual. Para eso se analizaron mediante un abordaje cualitativo veintidós empresas recuperadas de todo el país de diferentes rubros y regiones.</p><p>Los hallazgos indican que se encuentran una serie de dispositivos innovadores en relación con la empresa capitalista anterior, mientras que otros son en comparación con el cooperativismo tradicional. Las innovaciones son resultado de una construcción práctica que se corrige y no sigue un modelo evolutivo. Surgen fundamentalmente del proceso de trabajo en gran medida con el objetivo de alivianar las relaciones jerárquico-piramidales impuestas por la lógica de organización y las tecnologías de la empresa anterior. Los factores de los que se nutre la innovación son una conjunción entre la puesta en práctica y experimentación de dispositivos, su constante debate, la apertura de la empresa a la relación con otros actores y una cultura orientada al cuidado de la democracia interna.</p>

A moderate politician who served during the Revolution, the Empire, and the Restoration, Boissy d'Anglas's political views remained consistent during several critical periods when the fate of France was at stake. His political philosophy, based firmly on religious tolerance, freedom of expression, strong constitutional government and equality before the law, made it possible for him to weather the revolutionary storm and retain positions of influence in each of the regimes during the period. This book sheds new light on the role of moderates in the French Revolution and illuminates the changing political currents of the Revolution from Boissy's moderate perspective. A political moderate during a period of extremes, Boissy served for so long because he was committed to ideals, rather than to groups. Yet, during several periods in his career, Boissy also placed himself in danger by acting on his ideals. He held political beliefs that were both appropriate to his time and effective in application. He made many enemies, but the greatest testament to Boissy's life was the constant call of the French people for him to serve.

Black Chicago in the post–civil rights era was constantly refreshed by an influx of newcomers from the American South via the Great Migration. This book uses ruminations on oft-undervalued found ephemeral materials (like a fan club pamphlet or a creamy-white Curtis Mayfield record) and a variety of in-depth original and archival interviews to unearth tales of the aspiration, will, courage, and imagination born in Black Chicago. It also questions what vestiges of our past we choose to value in this digital age. These stories serve as homespun folktales of hope to counter darker popular narratives about the South and West Sides of the city. They also express the ongoing quest for identity and self-determination, a quest that fueled the earlier Black Arts Movement, and is again at the heart of the Black Arts renaissance currently blossoming in Black Chicago, from genre-spanning musicians like Chance the Rapper, Noname, the Juju Exchange, and Makaya McCraven, and from visual artists like Theaster Gates and Kerry James Marshall, and up-and-comers like Brandon Breaux. In the different fields of science, many times, there is a need to estimate the associations between variables, as an approach to understanding the interaction of one as a function of the others. It is usually done by applying restrictive models, such as analysis of variance and linear regression. This type of analysis requires that the dependent variable be continuous, have a normal and constant distribution of the mean and variance. However, when the dependent variable is discrete or categorical, the linear model is not viable. Faced with this impediment, the theory of linear models arises and is expanded to broader categories, which have been called Generalized Linear Models. This category assumes that all distribution functions are exponential, in which the normal distribution is located. In this sense, in this research, Generalized Least Squares methods were applied in their various variants: of moments, ordinary and feasible. These models allow calculating the parameters of models in which the dependent variable has a Poisson or multinomial distribution. In such a way that the Generalized Least Squares serve as a tool to analyze the effect of the elections on public spending and its relationship with the electoral results, analyzing the variables of a budgetary nature, derived from the possibility that the government in power continues or is re-elected. For this, data related to the states and municipalities of México in the period 2007 to 2019 are used.

Quantum mechanics approaches its centenary with an impressive record. It became the backbone of most research in physics, led to applications such as the transistor and laser, and prompted an upheaval in the philosophy of science. Its scope and its precision have been constantly growing, and it is now promising more powerful computers and safer cryptography. This century of conquests has also been a time of ongoing debates about the foundations and interpretation of the theory, which has been referred to as the quantum controversy. The controversy has been unusually long and remains open. Jammer called it “a story without an ending” and Laloë described this coexistence of successes and doubts with the metaphor of the colossus with feet of clay. This Handbook is a survey on this history. Some of the so-called “interpretations” are not interpretations of a fixed formalism, they are different theories, thus it has been a debate about the interpretations and the foundations of quantum mechanics. In this volume, the “history of interpretations” is used for the sake of brevity. The successive parts of the Handbook deal with the scientific and philosophical issues under debate, historical landmarks, places and contexts, historical and philosophical theses, and the proliferation of interpretations. It also is a typically ignored topic in their teacher training where emphasis is on “methods,” but without prior planning of the musical goals those methods supposedly serve. The basic question of curriculum planning in this book, “What of all that could be taught is most worth learning?,” is not usually what teachers usually have in mind. In any case, too often their answers are not supportable by the rigorous philosophical and theoretical scholarship of this monograph. The result is the present anarchy of “programs” that fails to promote pragmatic and long-lasting results. This leads to the ever-growing “legitimation crisis” that advertises the aesthetic benefits of music education in schools. However, since these benefits are vague and intangible, music teachers constantly must engage in “advocacy” of their “programs.” This scholarly monograph accepts that pre- and in-service readers can understand the challenges of curriculum planning. It begins with a brisk survey of philosophies of music and music education inherited from the Greeks—included because they too often still dominate contemporary music teaching in negative ways. Then more recent and substantial bases of music curriculum and praxis theory of music and music education are examined as alternatives for planning curriculum built on intellectually substantial philosophical and theoretical grounds. The study concludes with a model curriculum based on recent praxis theory where musical and educational benefits are evident to students, administrators, and taxpayers and lead to “artful” living through music.

The PCC describes the recurring process of political communication innovation through American political history. This model incorporates the technological, political, and behavioral factors influencing how and when changes in political communication activity take place. The PCC is made up of three phases that also serve as an organizational structure for the book. First is the technological imperative, which focuses on how new information and communications technologies (ICT) are developed and what types of ICTs may be more or less likely to be used to innovate political communication. Next, the political choice phase incorporates the behavioral processes embedded in how different types of actors choose whether to innovate or not. Iran’s history and culture remained a constant source of inspiration across different generations and artistic movements, from the ‘Oriental’ poems of Victor Hugo to those of Anna de Noailles and Théophile Gautier’s strategic citation of Persian poetry to his daughter Judith Gautier’s full-blown rewriting of a Persian epic. Writing about Iran could also serve to articulate new visions of world history and religion, as was the case in the intellectual debates that took place between Michelet, Renan, and Al-Afghani. Alternatively joyous, as in Félicien David’s opera Lalla Roukh, and ominous, as in Massenet’s Le Mage, Iran elicited a multiplicity of treatments. La práctica quirúrgica diaria siempre debe ir de la mano de la actualización de conocimientos, vivimos en un mundo, que, en el ámbito médico, cada día da pasos agigantados y nosotros como profesionales de la salud no podemos quedarnos atrás. El camino para la resolución del problema se basa en diversas habilidades, desde la observación hasta la reflexión sobre el cuadro expuesto, el aprendizaje tradicional obliga a la retención con la memoria sin un razonamiento lógico (1), viendo así al aprendizaje como algo obligatorio; es así que la lectura e investigación dentro de la formación son pilares fundamentales para un desarrollo optimo del profesional de la salud, además de la visión holística con esa mística frente a la adversidad. Adquirir competencias y estrategias de manejo de cada uno de los casos consiste en la elaboración de diseños que se relacionen con la educación, recursos bibliográficos para así favorecer el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje multicanal, que han demostrado notables beneficios en la adquisición de competencias. (2) Es importante introducir el concepto de la cirugía académica donde se conjuga la practica diaria y la docencia con una investigación constante, todas estas herramientas ayudaran al profesional a ser autocritico, comprender la historia natural de la enfermedad, pero sobre todo a desarrollar el proyecto de su vida profesional. (3) Las diversas patologías quirúrgicas que se presentan tanto en la consulta como en la sala de emergencias deben ser abordadas con la integralidad del caso, buscando una resolución temprana y el retorno a las actividades diarias en el menor tiempo posible. Suturando conocimientos expone una serie de temas comunes en la práctica diaria, tomados de guías clínicas y quirúrgicas actualizadas, como es el caso de Colecistitis Aguda con las guías de Tokio, apendicitis común entre los cirujanos que implica un riesgo relativo entre el 7-8% (4), la enfermedad diverticular con una alta prevalencia, de forma similar enfermedades de la vesícula y vía biliar; (5) entre otros temas que fueron incluidos en este trabajo una vez revisados e indagando información sobre enfermedades y traumas más frecuentes en nuestro país. ayudando así no solo a la identificación, tratamiento sino también a la formación desde las aulas, y en si a cultivar el aprendizaje. El propósito de esta obra científica es llevar de manera didáctica, los conocimientos actuales de las patológicas quirúrgicas frecuentes hacia los lectores e incentivarlos a ser parte de una nueva era de investigación médica.

La serie de piezas aquí contenidas surge como resultado de la investigación “Creación de un ciclo de piezas para guitarra inspirado en la vida y las experiencias de violencia de docentes de la ciudad de Medellín” auspiciada por la Corporación Universitaria Adventista en Medellín, Colombia. La idea nace de la interacción del compositor con los maestros y maestras de las instituciones educativas de la ciudad de Medellín. Allí emergió la investigación “maestros por la paz”, donde los docentes escribieron relatos sobre su experiencia con la violencia en el ejercicio de su profesión. Inspirado por los relatos el compositor produjo cuatro piezas que muestran, por medio de la metáfora, conceptos fundamentales de los escritos. La pieza “fragmentos” retrata la experiencia de Diana Giraldo y se basa en su relato “Mi historia con el conflicto armado en Colombia”. La pieza cuenta con dos partes: la primera tiene un carácter de lamento pues representa los días de violencia en el campo; la segunda parte representa la vida en ciudad la cual es optimista en un principio. Sin embargo, líneas melódicas que descienden marcan el cese de la esperanza ya que simbolizan el darse cuenta de que la vida urbana en las comunas también esta cargada de violencia y pérdida. La segunda pieza “primavera rota” retrata situaciones puntuales de Nancy Ospina en su relato “Una utopía: una partida, un camino, volver”. Nancy cuenta que incursionó siendo joven en grupos armados en defensa de ideas que creía trascendentales para la sociedad. La pieza en su primera parte trata de establecer las situaciones agridulces en el curso de su vida armada, de allí el constante cambio de modo bajo la misma melodía. En la segunda parte de la pieza hay un marcado contraste que encarna la gran contradicción en su vida: el darse cuenta que la lucha armada muchas veces no resultaba en su propio bienestar ni en un cambio positivo para el país. “Ostinato” se basa en el relato “Mi historia de vida” de Cielo Hincapié. Ella cuenta que desde temprana edad tuvo mucho criterio, posteriormente siendo docente se convirtió en líder social en Urabá donde lucho por los derechos de los trabajadores y las familias bananeras; siendo amenazada fue desplazada y terminó en Medellín. Allí continuó la lucha social, esta vez, velando por los derechos a sus colegas docentes. Esta tenacidad a pesar de tanta violencia es una de las cualidades más sobresaliente de Cielo. La pieza por su parte utiliza el mismo motivo rítmico de principio a fin haciendo un homenaje a esa lucha. Finalmente, en “figuras nómadas” están representados todos maestros que no descansan en la búsqueda de transformación de sus estudiantes y su entorno. La música de manera alegórica se construye mediante un movimiento perpetuo que constituye lo constantes e incansables que son los maestros en su decidida labor de formar íntegros seres humanos. Nacido en Medellín en 1984, Jorge Hoyos es compositor, intérprete de guitarra clásica e investigador. Entre los premios que ha recibido se encuentra el concurso Antioquia vive la música con la pieza "Sabaneta", el concurso Musicalia del Instituto de Artes de Cuba, con su actuación de repertorio latinoamericano, 2008 y mención de honor en el concurso Internacional "The Contemporary Guitar 2018" Atenas, Grecia con la obra “Primavera Rota” (contenida en la presente publicación). Como guitarrista ha participado en diversos eventos nacionales e internacionales y en otros espacios como: Concurso Internacional de guitarra, La paz, Bolivia 2010, Festival de orquestas de guitarra en la ciudad de Cienfuegos, Cuba; 2010, Festival de orquestas de guitarra, Las Tunas, Cuba; 2009, Festival Universitario de música Instrumental de la Región Andina, Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Teatro Museo de la memoria y Festival Cotrafa. Sus obras varían desde piezas orquestales hasta música de cámara y solista. Algunos de ellos han sido comisionados e interpretados por artistas y conjuntos como Javier Asdrubal Vinasco (clarinetista), Carlos Areiza (percusionista), Aletheia, EAFIT Orquesta Universitaria, Orquesta Amadeus , entre otros. Hoyos estudió en la Universidad Adventista de Colombia donde obtuvo su licenciatura en educación musical en el año 2006. En 2010 se graduó en el Instituto Superior de Artes de Cuba como intérprete de guitarra clásica. También tomó clases de composición con Tulio Peramo. En 2015 obtuvo el título de Magister en composición musical con los profesores Andrés Posada, Marco Alunno y Victor Agudelo en la Universidad EAFIT. Otros profesores han sido Mark Olivieri, Javier Álvarez, Jesús Ortega, Roberto Kessel, Eduardo Martín, Elvira Fuentes, Fabio Zanón y Martín Pedreira. Sus trabajos han sido publicadas por ALEA publishing y C. Alan music publishing; adicionalmente Hoyos es miembro de ASCAP como compositor de música seria. Actualmente se desempeña como profesor de teoría musical e investigador de la Corporación Universitaria Adventista de Colombia y del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano.

¿Qué sentimos frente al Estado? Seguridad o miedo. El sentimiento nos enfrenta ante el tipo de Estado en el que vivimos. Injusticias, muertes, humillaciones, falta de respeto: todo esto se presenta ante nuestra mirada, la respuesta de los gobiernos; militares en las calles. Esta es una constante que se desarrolla a lo largo del texto del profesor Oscar Dueñas, quién, a través de una serie de experiencias sensibles, nos cuenta sobre acontecimientos importantes que se desarrollaron en su vida y que nos sitúan en un plano existencial para preguntarnos y reflexionar por conceptos fundamentales del derecho: la justicia y la libertad. Es así como, el texto del Maestro Dueñas transita entre la vida cotidiana del campo y la ciudad en Colombia; que se entremezcla entre momentos reales y diálogos diseñados desde la imaginación, para develar cómo experimentamos en nuestro territorio y nuestros cuerpos encarnados un conflicto social que nos hace preguntarnos sobre la materialización de los principios constitucionales. Así, nos transportamos mediante una reflexión que tiene por objeto develar que la libertad no debe concebirse únicamente de manera abstracta como un principio dado por ideales de una nación, sino que el sentirnos libres debe materializarse en nuestros cuerpos que están condicionados al tiempo; esto es, a vivir con condiciones reales y suficientes que desarrollen en los y las colombianas capacidades y permitan el ejercicio libre de sus derechos en el tránsito de sus vidas: la niñez, la adultez y la vejez. En este orden de ideas, la sensación de libertad depende de las marcas en los cuerpos, que pueden estar en peligro por determinas condiciones de vida. Por ejemplo, las creencias políticas, como nos demuestra la desgarradora historia del profesor Dueñas cuando vivió en carne propia el riesgo a la muerte por Indagatoria de un testigo. Relato pertenecer a un partido político, amenazado por sus oponentes, por pensar diferente. O las sensaciones de angustia que están supeditadas a un riesgo máximo, como lo vivieron las personas de la tercera edad, quienes no están cobijadas por la protección social, esto es: trabajo estable, pensión, apoyo familiar. Personas que padecieron de una manera inhumana este tiempo. Estos relatos y muchos más nos invitan a reflexionar sobre la materialización de la idea de libertad en Colombia. De esta manera, las circunstancias nos van permitiendo reflexionar sobre cómo podemos ser libres, qué necesitamos para serlo y para sentirnos parte de una comunidad o, si se quiere, parte de una sociedad que reconoce nuestras necesidades e intereses. Pues la libertad se encuentra anclada a la garantía de los principios constitucionales, en especial aquellos derechos que desarrollan y reconocen las habilidades y competencias que formamos como personas dentro de un Estado, como lo es el derecho al trabajo, el derecho sindical; o aquellos que garantizan nuestra dignidad a pesar de las contingencias de la vida como la salud, la pensión y los riesgos a los que estamos expuestos por desarrollar un trabajo. En fin, la garantía de los derechos políticos, sociales y económicos. El profesor y maestro Oscar Dueñas encarna en su vida el ideal de un jurista quien, por un lado, en su vida académica denunció los falsos problemas que enredan la garantía constitucional de los derechos laborales bajo sofismas que nos envuelven y nos confunden, como lo es la idea de sostenibilidad financiera, que limita los principios constitucionales y con ello la idea de la materialización de un Estado Social de Derecho. Por otro lado, también emprende una lucha política por garantizarle a las personas sus derechos laborales y sociales, en especial una lucha por mostrar la importancia del cuidado de los adultos mayores. Y finalmente, desde el litigio del derecho laboral y de la seguridad social ayuda a comprender los derechos sociales para garantizarle a personas concretas sus derechos, que en Colombia lastimosamente se reconocen después de emprender conflictos jurídicos eternos en los juzgados y tribunales. El texto del profesor Oscar Dueñas nos permitirá como juristas revisar que los conceptos no pueden estar alejados de la realidad y nos permitirá encontrar en su experiencia de vida energías para seguir insistiendo en un país democrático, en el que sea un mal recuerdo la muerte sistemática de Oscar José Dueñas Ruiz aquellos que no piensan igual, de aquellos que no sirven para los propósitos del “desarrollo”, de aquellos que luchan por una tierra en paz. Que este libro sirva de pretexto para admirar a nuestros grandes maestros, que dejan y siembran en nuestros corazones, no conceptos dogmáticos, sino un deseo implacable de justicia que solo puede sentirse, vivirse y experimentarse.

La OIT viene señalando que la violencia y el acoso en el trabajo son una violación grave de los derechos humanos. Impiden el ejercicio de derechos laborales, son incompatibles con el trabajo decente y, sobre todo, representan una amenaza global para la dignidad, la seguridad, la salud y el bienestar de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras, pues no hay exclusiones en este tipo de comportamientos y prácticas tan viles e intolerables en la era de la economía digital. Una de las cuestiones que la OIT manifiesta es, precisamente, la necesidad de conceptualizar la violencia y el acoso en los lugares de trabajo. Interrelacionar ambos conceptos en una única definición plantea dificultades considerables, no solo por las percepciones subjetivas y las interpretaciones culturales, sino también porque es preciso prever respuestas jurídicas distintas a la violencia y el acoso. También debe pues establecerse con más precisión cuál sería el ámbito objeto de la discusión, al igual que su vinculación con el lugar de trabajo. (Organización Internacional del Trabajo –OIT–, 2018, p.4) La delimitación conceptual sobre el acoso en el mundo del trabajo se ha materializado en el importante, pero incompleto Convenio 190 de la OIT. De ahí que nos hayamos propuesto exponer y, modestamente, proponer los elementos y características para delimitar un concepto definidor del acoso en el trabajo con argumentos doctrinales y jurisprudenciales. Todo ello nos parece esencial para cumplir los objetivos de la OIT tendientes a “garantizar lugares de trabajo seguros y productivos”. La labor de la OIT en esta materia ha sido muy importante en la última década. Nos referimos (sin ánimo de exhaustividad) a la adopción, en 2009, de la Resolución relativa a la igualdad de género como eje del trabajo decente, en la 98.ª reunión de la Conferencia. Sobre esta resolución, la OIT consideró que es necesario adoptar un enfoque más amplio y, en 2015, su 325.ª Conferencia incluyó por primera vez en su orden del día un punto titulado “La violencia contra las mujeres y los hombres en el mundo del trabajo”. La temática del acoso laboral y de otros tipos de violencia en el trabajo ha tenido en los últimos años un desarrollo particular. El tema ha sido tratado en distintos ámbitos y disciplinas. Psicólogos, sociólogos, psiquiatras, médicos laborales, juristas, entre otros, estudian en la actualidad dicho fenómeno. Las investigaciones y los estudios realizados en el campo de la psicología, en la década de los ochenta, llamaron la atención acerca del daño ocasionado a los trabajadores por las conductas ocurridas en el trabajo, que, si bien aisladas carecían de significación, de modo acumulativo producían un daño de entidad. Los riesgos psicosociales y el acoso psicológico en el trabajo son considerados potencialmente dañinos para la salud de los trabajadores. Su relación con un número indeterminado de patologías es enorme, más aún cuando la relación causal entre dichos agentes y las patologías instaladas en los trabajadores todavía no está completamente clara y establecida. No obstante, se han encontrado vínculos que relacionan el estrés con las patologías musculoesqueléticas, cardíacas o digestivas. De ser prolongada la exposición a las situaciones generadoras de estrés, esta puede provocar graves trastornos cardiovasculares (Duglas y Yanes, 2013). El acoso laboral es considerado por un buen número de profesionales de diversas especialidades (psicólogos, abogados, médicos, entre otros) como la nueva plaga laboral del siglo XXI. Dado lo anterior, se puede decir que por acoso laboral se entiende toda conducta hostil, ofensiva, maliciosa, intimidatoria, incluyendo comportamientos, palabras, actos, gestos y escritos, que de forma “sistemática” se ejerzan por una persona o grupo de personas sobre otro/otros en el lugar de trabajo. Estas conductas deben manifestarse a través de cualquier acto que atente contra la dignidad o la integridad física o psíquica de la persona o la perjudique social, psicológica o moralmente. Su finalidad es la destrucción psicológica de la víctima, el abandono de su puesto de trabajo o la degradación de las condiciones del mismo. Esta definición está integrada por las características más resaltantes de las aproximaciones conceptuales expuestas por Leyman (1996), Hirigoyen (2001) y Piñuel (2001). En Nicaragua, desde el año 2007, se desarrolla un proyecto de nación que involucra a todos los poderes del Estado, basado en la implementación estratégica de un nuevo modelo político y económico que implica la adecuación progresiva de todo el ordenamiento jurídico. Además, determina líneas claras de restitución de derechos que reincorporan a grandes sectores de la sociedad a su derecho fundamental de ciudadanía, protagonistas con el derecho humano a una vida en el mundo del trabajo libre de violencia y acoso laboral. También incluye todo aquel acto de violencia y acoso laboral por razones de género. El Poder Judicial, en armonía con una serie de instrumentos internacionales ratificados por Nicaragua, y en sintonía con el aun no ratificado Convenio 190 de la OIT, aprueba el primer Protocolo en Latino América, para prevenir, sancionar y erradicar el acoso laboral y sexual en el entorno laboral de su competencia. En este trabajo se abordarán las más notorias consideraciones al aporte significativo que esta normativa implica para el país y la región latinoamericana. La violencia en las relaciones de trabajo representa una problemática que ha encontrado en las herramientas telemáticas, dígase el internet, las redes sociales, el correo electrónico y la telefonía móvil, un nuevo contexto y una nueva forma para su extensión y desarrollo. Las ventajas que genera el uso cada vez mayor de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en el mundo actual han condicionado que el fenómeno del ciberacoso laboral sea una modalidad de violencia que se encuentra en considerable aumento y en constante perfeccionamiento. La prevención de este riesgo tiene que ser el mecanismo necesario para combatir este fenómeno, lo que debe realizarse con un enfoque multidisciplinario, coherente e integrador. En nuestro país urge visibilizar su existencia y generar una mayor sensibilización en la sociedad y, especialmente, en el ámbito de las relaciones de trabajo.
