In order to protect the health of people who often use computer, a posture correction device based on LabVIEW is proposed in this paper. The posture correction device consists of host computer and slave computer. Host computer is composed by graphical user interface (GUI) programmed by LabVIEW software in PC. Slave computer is composed of the C8051F340 processor with on-chip universal serial bus (USB) peripherals, three ultrasonic sensors HC-SR04 installed on the top, left, right side of the computer display measuring distance between user and PC, and humidity & temperature sensor DHT11. Through GUI and USB communication, host computer can get user instructions and connect and control the slave computer to finish the functions of calculating the distance between user and PC and collecting the humidity and temperature data. Experimental results show that the presented posture correction device has a humanized GUI and can be used expediently and easily.

He then outlines many of the problems listeners face when attempting to deal with successful output from such programs. This paper presents a heuristic algorithm to solve the linear coordinate reduction problem. If Cartesian coordinates are chosen in the initial formulation the algorithm eliminates two-thirds of dependent coordinates in the planar case and one-half in the spatial case for mechanisms composed of spherical, revolute and universal joints. For an open-loop system composed of spherical joints it eliminates all dependent coordinates. A computer algebra-based implementation in the Maple language is presented. The proposed technique is demonstrated by application to the dynamic analysis of a Peaucellier mechanism.

This article presents results of a study that compared critical thinking in two writing samples (essays) from gifted adolescents who attended a residential school. The essays were written at the beginning of the junior year (when students were admitted to the school) and at the beginning of the senior year. All students in the study composed their first essay in handwritten form. On the second essay, some students were randomly assigned to a computer condition and composed their essays on the computer. Results demonstrated a gender-specific effect of using computers to compose essays. Boys using the computers produced significantly more words, sentences, and paragraphs than boys who did not use the computer to write and received higher ratings on a structured rubric. Girls scored the same in both conditions and performed consistently at a level on par with the boys using computers.

MDM accelerates the Coulomb and van der Waals force calculation with the Ewald method. It is composed of three parts: MDGRAPE-2, WINE-2 and a host computer. MDGRAPE-2 accelerates the real-space part of the Coulomb and van der Waals forces. WINE-2 accelerates wavenumber-space part of the Coulomb force. The host computer performs other calculations. The peak performance is 78 Tflop/s. It can also be used for cosmological, Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, and vortex dynamics simulations.

A neural network system has been developed on a personal computer to identify 1129 infrared spectra. The system is composed of two steps of networks. The first step classifies 1129 spectra into 40 categories, and each unit of the output layer is connected to one of the 40 networks in the second step, which identify each spectrum. Each network is composed of three layers. The input, intermediate, and output layers are composed of 250, 40, and 40 units, respectively. Intensity data at 250 wavenumber points between 1800 and 550 cm−1 of the infrared spectra are entered into the input layer of each network. The training of the networks was carried out with the spectral data of 1129 compounds stored in the SDBS system, and thus the networks were successfully constructed. On the basis of the results, the system has been developed by preparing pre- and post-processing programs. The system can identify each unknown spectrum within 0.1 s, and is quite efficient for identifying infrared spectra on a personal computer.

As high reliable equipment, on-board computer often has difficulties to evaluate its reliability. The paper put forward a simulation method to compute on-board computers reliability. The method uses a forced transition (FT) based reliability simulation model to deal with the on-board computers that have complex structure and diversiform characteristic parameters. The model is particularly suitable for the on-board computers which are composed of the components whose failure processes obey tub life curve. As an example, a prototype on-board computer was put forward and simulated using the model. The presented reliability simulation model can be adopted for the on-board computer probability risk assessment where analytic methods or exact solutions cannot be easily reached.

Eye–hand coordination (EHC) is of great importance in the research areas of human visual perception, computer vision and robotic vision. A computer-using robot (CUBot) is designed for investigating the EHC mechanism and its implementation is presented in this paper. The CUBot possesses the ability of operating a computer with a mouse like a human being. Based on the three phases of people using computer with a mouse, i.e. watching the screen, recognizing the graphical objects on the screen as well as controlling the mouse to let the cursor approach to the target, our CUBot can also perceive information merely through its vision and control the mouse by its robotic hand without any physical data communication connected to the operated computer. The CUBot is mainly composed of “Mouse-Hand” for operating the mouse, “mind” for realizing the object perception, cursor tracking, and EHC. Two experiments used for testing the ability of our EHC algorithm and the perception of CUBot confirm the feasibility of the proposed approach.

104 college students and 88 college faculty/staff at a midwestern university completed a questionnaire composed of the Computer Hassles Scale, a measure of computer users' stress, somatization/anxiety items from the Symptoms Checklist-90, a measure of stress reactions, and the Revised Personal Attribute Inventory, a measure of self-concept. Correlations indicated that for students there was a significant negative relationship between computer users' stress and self-concept ( r = −.30), while for faculty/staff there was a significant positive relationship ( r = .28). Regression analyses showed that self-concept moderated the relationship between computer users' stress and stress outcomes for only the faculty-staff sample. The moderator effect was interpreted using Linville's 1987 “buffering hypothesis,” which suggests that persons with higher scores on self-concept are less prone to experience stress-related outcomes like somatization/anxiety symptoms.

Researchers have pointed to the influence of sex with respect to the attributes of the computer medium. The author elaborates upon possible sex differences in reference to perceived attributes of the computer medium, i.e., Richness, Accessibility, Velocity, Interactivity, Plasticity, and Immediacy. Data from both a pilot and main study are reported and interpreted. The pilot study included 78 participants, while the main study involved 211 The independent samples were composed of Communication Studies students enrolled at two Mid-Atlantic universities. Nine items with anchors of 1: strongly disagree and 7: strongly agree were taken from the 2000 Computer Mediated Communication Competence Scale of Spitzberg to assess the attributes of computer-mediated interaction. The results indicate that women scored higher than men on perceptions of Accessibility, Velocity, Interactivity, and Immediacy.

APOSOS is composed of Asia-Pacific optical satellite observation center, APSCO member state node, sub-node and observation telescope. Asia-Pacific optical satellite observation center manage the whole observation network. Every member state node answers for the organization of observation with their country’s facility according to the observation plan released by observation center. The sub-node transmits observational data to corresponding member state node first. Then the member state node transmits the data summarized to the observation center. This paper will briefly introduce the APOSOS project first and present the design of computer communication and network in APOSOS project in detail.

The microstructure of the genus Morenaphyllum has been studied in ultrathin sections by means of petrographic microscopy and computer integrated polarization microscopy (CIP). Although the studied specimens are partially recrystallized, the microstructure can be observed in zones that are quite well preserved. Morenaphyllum shows walls composed of lamellae piled in bundles, lamellar dissepiments, tabulae and stereoplasmatic thickenings and septa composed of small fi bres that change their orientation from the periphery to the axial zones of the coral. In spite of the presence of some peculiarities, this microstructure fi t well with that described in other Axophyllinae.

Extensive work has been carried out on the advanced analysis of frames consisting of members of symmetrical cross-section, but trusses composed of angle sections were not investigated in detail by the advanced analysis. This paper describes the application of advanced analysis to structures composed of angle sections. The effects of load eccent-ricity and finite stiffness at connections are also allowed for. The difficulties of assuming an effective length factor and classification of connections for angle column design in the computer analysis are avoided. The method produces a consistent result with the column buckling curves in design codes and with the results by other researchers.

It is well known that a quantum circuit on N qubits composed of Clifford gates with the addition of k non Clifford gates can be simulated on a classical computer by an algorithm scaling as poly(N)exp⁡(k)\cite{bravyi2016improved}. We show that, for a quantum circuit to simulate quantum chaotic behavior, it is both necessary and sufficient that k=Θ(N). This result implies the impossibility of simulating quantum chaos on a classical computer.

The inclusion of video and image-based communications over the Internet and the explosion of multimedia in the last two decades have lead to a demand for education in computer imaging and vision at the undergraduate level. A curriculum developed for such an audience that features experimental-based learning experiences as a vehicle for student education and exploration in the field of computer imaging/vision is discussed. As computer imaging/vision has many unsolved problems and challenges, it is crucial that we impart to students not only knowledge but, the investigative skills necessary for tackling these problems. This paper presents the results of student work on a number of such experiences involving both software development and vision hardware system configuration. The paper culminates with the results of a student-composed survey discussing one of these experimental learning experiences, which illustrates the usefulness of this form of learning.

This system is mainly composed of sensor network, measurement and control extension, communication host and host computer. Measurement and control extension centres on microcontroller C8051 to accomplish the measurement of grain temperature and humidity in granary. Instruction is transferred to measurement and control extension by communication host, at the same time, transferring the data measured by extension to host computer. Host computer achieves the regimentation of whole system by applying PC. Compared with traditional ones, this measurement system is much more simple, low-cost, efficient and responsive, with profoundly immediate significance and wide prospect.

Computer assisted language learning (CALL) literacy is an issue of great concern not sufficiently dealt with in the literature of language teaching and learning. This study examines CALL literacy by Iranian EFL teachers. Reviewing the literature and some models of computer, information, and technology literacy, to collect the data, a questionnaire in Likert scale composed of four sections of computer mediated communication (CMC) tools, online information literacy, multimedia literacy, and basic computer skills was utilized. Following the data analysis by SPSS package, the findings showed Iranian EFL teachers’ moderate level of CALL literacy; however, their literacy on CMC tools was below the satisfactory level. Further, there was a significant relationship between the teachers’ literacy and their academic degree, yet the relationship between their CALL literacy and their teaching experience as well as the difference between the teachers’ literacy and gender was found insignificant. The study has implications for EFL teachers in educational systems supporting CALL-based pedagogy.

The FasTEM system is composed of Windows NT based Server PC System that is connected to the target TEM via RS232C for integrated operation, and Client PC SYSTEM connected to the Server PC via TCP/IP for remote operation (Fig.l).Seamless Integration FunctionAll user interfaces of the analytical/imaging instruments, such as HRTEM, STEM BF/DF, EDS, PEELS and GIF can be seamlessly integrated into the Server PC.

A membrane structure is a space structure composed of a membrane material (fabric or film), cables, and steel frames, among others. It reduces the environmental load for transporting materials and constructions; for instance, compared with conventional roofs that have steel panels or tiles, the membrane structure of a roof is lightweight. Computer analysis and three-dimensional (3D) models are required for determining the stable shape of such tensile structures. It is useful to use computer-integrated systems for the design and manufacturing process because these 3D models consist of numerical data. In this study, we developed a system program based on artificial intelligence methods, with a support vector machine instead of human judgment for the membrane structure estimation and for a probabilistic optimization to predict the differences caused by production loss etc. and compare the results after actual production. And we got close predicted results to the person.

High performance parallel computers provide computational rates necessary for computer simulations and intensive computing applications. An important part of a parallel computer program is an MPI software library, which implements communication within parallel applications. Several MPI implementations exist, most widely used among them are LAM/MPI and MPICH. This paper presents results of four basic synthetic tests and two real simulations in LAM/MPI and MPICH environments. Tests were made on a computer cluster composed of 17 dual-processor nodes connected by a toroidal mesh. Results show that on the investigated cluster, LAM outperformed MPICH especially by bidirectional ring communication, and that appropriate trimming of communication parameters significantly contributes to the final parallel performance.

Abstract:A linguistic approach is presented to develop a representation of patient data. Semantic categories developed for computer processing of narrative clinical reports are shown to be similar to the Medical Concepts used manually to extract data from narrative in Exercises of the Computer-based Patient Record Institute. Clinical statement types composed of these categories are used in the Linguistic String Project (LSP) medical language processing (MLP) system to convert narrative information into relational database tables of patient information. A procedure for mapping the output of the LSP MLP system into SNOMED International codes was developed. Preliminary results and further requirements are discussed.
