Purpose: To report creatine kinase ([CK]) responses during a soccer World Cup preparatory and first-leg period and to determine the influence of aerobic fitness on postmatch [CK] responses. Methods: Eleven national-team players were analyzed in this study. A lactate threshold test was performed during the first 3 d, whereas fingertip blood was drawn most mornings (21 out of 30 d) for [CK] measurements. One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used for determining the effect of time on [CK] measurements, whereas Pearson correlation coefficient was used for assessing associations between the changes in [CK] and velocities associated with blood lactate concentrations of 2 (v2) and 4 mmol·L−1 (v4). Results: Peak [CK] concentrations were consistently reached on the first day after the match with values of 474 (261), 520 (419), and 460 (126) U·L−1 but with no significant differences between them. [CK] concentrations returned to prematch values (331 [201] U·L−1) on the second day after the match. The change in [CK] concentration between prematch and postmatch day was largely correlated (r = .614, P = .044) with v2. Conclusions: Top-level soccer players display low levels of muscle damage during official tournaments, and they recover before the next match. Postmatch muscle damage is greater in players with higher aerobic endurance because this fitness quality enables them to execute high-intensity activities known to be a major contributor to muscle damage.

The Royal College of Surgeons of England rugby club is flourishing but needs your support. It has a very young history when compared with the United Hospitals Cup (the oldest competition, dating back to 1874 and still being played despite many amalgamations of the London teaching hospitals). Our College club was founded in 2003 to play against the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Park–Parker Cup. The first game was played at the Rosslyn Park ground on the morning of the Calcutta Cup and, sadly, after suturing various parts of players' anatomy from both sides, I presented the Cup to the Edinburgh side who had been triumphant, reversing a large half-time lead by the English College. The next two years belonged to England winning in Edinburgh and in London.

In the spring of 2010, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data-mining (KDD) selected a dataset from an educational technology for its annual competition. The competition, titled “Educational Data Mining Challenge”, tasked participants with predicting the correctness of student answers to questions within an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) from The Cognitive Tutors suite of tutors. This challenge was hosted by the PSLC DataShop, and included data provided by the Carnegie Learning Inc., producers of The Cognitive Tutors. Consisting of over 9GB of student data this was the largest KDD Cup dataset up to that point in time. The competition brought in 655 competitors submitting 3,400 solutions. Five years later, we believe the competition dataset has been the most often cited from an educational technology platform.

This paper documents a 5-year sport psychology consultancy program with the England Women’s Cricket Team. The paper describes the method and content of sport psychology service provided and distinguishes between four phases of delivery: introduction and education in mental skills training, competition preparation and thinking, preliminary World Cup preparation, and final World Cup preparation and on-site provision. Service delivery was evaluated by the use of the Consultant Evaluation Form (Partington & Orlick, 1987), ongoing informal feedback from players and coaches, and a formal interview conducted after the World Cup. Reflections on successful and unsuccessful aspects of the program are provided. Overall, the sport psychology program was very well received and was considered instrumental in achieving the stated goal of winning the World Cup. The paper concludes with a number of recommendations for delivering extended sport psychology services to an international team.

This short paper presents the activity recognition results obtained from the CAR-CSIC team for the UCAmI’18 Cup. We propose a multi-event naive Bayes classifier for estimating 24 different activities in real-time. We use all the sensorial information provided for the competition, i.e., binary sensors fixed to everyday objects, proximity BLE-based tags, location-aware smart floor sensing and the wrist’s acceleration. The results using training data-sets of 7 days show accuracies (true positives) about 68%; however for the three extra data-sets of the competition we were able to reach a 60.5% accuracy.

The present exploratory study, framed in agenda-setting theory, analyzes the way European and US newspapers frame racism and ethnocentrism issues, on the background of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. By combining quantitative and qualitative methods, 2 research hypotheses and 9 research questions were explored. The results showed the distribution of articles that used a positive frame and the ones that used a negative frame was relatively equal across geographical regions. The US media have shown as the most ethnocentric nationality the Spanish, while the European media, the Scottish. There is an agreement across different geographical regions that the French and the German have the most tolerant or anti-discriminatory actions or attitudes. The most prominent theme to describe nationalities’ tolerant attitudes was the power of football to unify peoples and to enhance global understanding. Both the American and the European media described the Argentinean team mostly in terms of athletic skill.

Data was collected by ten competition tapes recorded in 2006 Asian Cup Male tchouk ball competition for five teams, and utilized video observation statistics analysis method to carry out observation of competition and processed the data by descriptive statistics and single variant statistics. 1.Gained points of attacking model in the first half is significantly higher than what of the other attacking models; whereas there is no significant difference among lose of points among different attacking models. 2.Gained points of attacking the central area is significantly higher than what of attacking side areas; whereas no significant difference in terms of lose of points. 3.Distribution of gained and lost points is pretty even among all games, there is no significant difference. 4.Regarding breaches of rules and aberrations, offside behavior and mishandling are most common seen than the others. 5.The key of wining is to increase the success rate and decrease fail rate of defense. 6.Although the variation of defense competence among all teams is not significant, but scores of team with more successful defense is worse.

Questionnaires are used as the method, which include personal background information and cognition about ways to deal with injuries. Subjects are all Kabbadi male and female players of junior high school teams that competed in 2015 National Leader Cup. Chi-square test, independent samples t-test and independent sample one-way analysis of variance are used as analysis methods. The results show: 1. There are six schools that participated in 2015 National Leader Cup. According to weekly practice conditions, each school has different level of devotion to Kabbadi team. 2. In the part of body type, most of the players’ height are in the section of middle and a bit higher part. Their weight are in the middle part. Their BMI are in the normal range. 3. The rate of injuries happened to players is 0.85 per person. While Kabaddi is a sport requires much body contacts, usually new injuries are more than past ones. Body parts that got injured are leg, ankle joint and knee joint accordingly. The treatments used immediately are ice, ignore the pain and continue doing sport, and wrap accordingly. The most common treatment after getting injured is ignore it (recover by self). 4. The answers being corrected answered by these players about the treatments and knowledge about injuries’ prevention are 7.62+_0.72. (The sum of questions is 8) The gender and age won’t influence their knowledge about prevention and treatments of injuries. Findings can be applied as information about injuries for Kabbadi players in junior high schools. It can also help preventing the injuries for Kabbadi players in junior high school.

People in Taiwan enjoy consuming various drinks to quench their thirst, especially in hot summers. Nevertheless, excessive intake of sugar not only causes obesity and metabolic problems, but also accelerates the body's aging. Taiwan has entered the aging society, therefore, the keys to health are learning how to live old and live well. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the Yellow Emperor, individuals require to consume different drinks and diets in different seasons to maintain their bodies. To propagandize the concept of healthy drinking, Tajen University of Science and Technology held the Tajen Cup Health Drinks Drinking Contest in 2017. Nonetheless, since the competition has not been established for a long time, there’s a lack of complete system and standard of the whole contest. To optimize the above mentioned is the main aim of the current research. The present study has three elements. The first part is to give suggestions and directions for the competition rules through literature reviews. The second part uses the modified Delphi method. By inviting Chinese medicine practitioners, pharmacies, and beverages and industry experts to answer continuous questionnaires, the present study hopes to find consensus between them, thus, make a standard competition score sheet. The third part is Questionnaire. By understanding the high school and college students' awareness and preferences for health drinks, suggestions can be given to future participants.  The first part of the proposed competition can be used to arrange health drinks suitable for drinking in each season according to the five seasons of the Yellow Emperor's internal spring, summer, long summer, autumn and winter. The second part of the questionnaire is divided into a health drink score sheet, a taste score sheet and a technical score sheet. The reliability results are Cronbach's Alpha values ​​of 0.705, 0.836, 0.810, and Cronbach's Alpha values ​​greater than 0.7 indicate that the scale is of good credibility. The third section shows that different levels of education differ in the price, preferences, and perceptions of drinks. Through the study, the rules and scores in the health drink competition system are well organized and integrated, and the future competitions are used as a reference. It is hoped that through the questionnaire survey, future participants will understand the preferences of high school and college students for their diets. It means facing the only goal and mounting on the stage of world. Also, it leads to happiness derived from making one’s own dream come true. In 2008 Asian Cup, I attained my best singles result that was incompatible in my experience as a player. Hopefully, I used this report to reconstruct the experience and provided related knowledge to the later generations. This report consists of four chapters: First, an introduction to the development of soft tennis and my self-growth and training history. Second and third chapters narrate about the preparation and the training process and the competition course. Finally, the fourth chapter concludes the whole report including my own self-criticism concerning this Asian Cup Competition and some suggestions to the field.

Frente a isso, busca-se ressaltar as qualidades desses tecidos emcontraponto ao urbanismo formal contemporâneo. Acredita-se que no contexto informal aapropriação e as relações sociais são mais ricas por conta do carater comunitário responsável porconstruir esses assentamentos.Considerando as qualidades do tecido informal como tônica das relações sociais e culturais,busca-se tirar partido dessas características para propor um edifico respeite o contexto da favelaem questão. Para além da questão da informalidade, a proposta desenvolvida é pensada numaescala urbana de maneira a conectar o tecido informal ao formal, com o objetivo de romper asbarreiras criadas ao longo da história da cidade.<br>This dissertation proposes to hold an architecture competition in order to develop an inquiry onthe development and urbanization of slums. The theoretical scope explored in this study supportsthe design process of the UIA HYP CUP 2019 - Happy Places - Integrating Architecture andLandscape competition, promoted by the International Union of Architects.The current research aims to debate the growing process of the favelas from Rio de Janeiro, aswell as the socio-spatial relations of this context typology. Altogether, it seeks to highlight thequalities of the informal urban fabric, in counterpoint to contemporary formal city. In the informalcontext, it is believed that the appropriation and social dynamics are richer due to the sense ofcommunity responsible for developing these settlements.Considering the qualities of the informal fabric as the base of social and cultural relations, thisproposal seeks to take advantage from these characteristics in order to propose a building thatrespects the context of the favela. Apart from the topic of informality, the proposal developed isdesigned on an urban scale in order to connect the informal to the formal fabric and break downthe boundaries created throughout the city's history.

The participating countries have also gradually improved their capability, with the exception of team Chinese Taipei couldn’t be better in recent years. The main tactic of baseball nowadays emphasizes on batting, thus the batting average for the match result had a significant influence. For making a breakthrough in our capability, the purpose of this study was to discuss the correlation between offensive ability (including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and batting average with runners in scoring position) and the result of the matches. The scorecard and IBAF’s data of 28 preliminary games with 8 countries of Fifth Women’s baseball world cup in 2012 was adopted in the research. The statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS statistics software to do descriptive statistics analysis compared with the correlation between the offensive ability and the result of the matches of Pearson correlation coefficient. The result as below: 1.The batting average and the match result had significant statistic relativity. The higher batting average the higher winning rate, the lower batting average the lower winning rate. 2.The on-base percentage and the match result had significant statistic relativity. Promoting the on-base percentage contributed to the offensive and scoring continuity, resulted in an increased winning rate. 3.The slugging percentage and the match result had significant statistic relativity. Having an extra-base hit at a proper timing could increase the winning rate. 4.Batting average with runners in scoring position and the match result had significant statistic relativity. The higher the batting average with runners in scoring position, the higher winning rate.

Annotation:
This paper presents the design and implementation of the 6 week-long robotics competition project at Grand Valley State University, MI. This particular course is named as “EGR-101” and this course is the first engineering course that all freshmen are required to take. Described are the infrastructure used to run the competition, course topics, the educational outcomes, and student responsibilities that make this competition an excellent opportunity for freshman student educational growth without too much load for students. This robot competition provides a foundation for students to experience the first real design process while working on the team-based project that simulates the real industrial project. With faculty supervision, the students have full responsibilities for developing the initial concepts, manufacturing a robot and competing at the competition. Each semester, a new set of the competition that results in the development of new robots. Also, methods to improve the competition will be presented and discussed. The key student learning possibilities that are presented in the paper include: a) team-based learning; b) communication skills; c) leadership skills; d) organization and management skills; e) manufacturing skills. Four examples of real competition are presented and discussed in the paper include: a) catching the falling balls competition,; b) air-hockey competition; c) mars rock competition; d) robot world cup competition.
