After nearly 450 years of colonial administration, Portugal returned the territory of Macao to the People's Republic of China in 1999. Following the handover, Macao's postcolonial government dismantled the forty-year-old local gambling monopoly and opened Macao to investment by gaming companies from North America, Australia, and Hong Kong. These companies are collectively spending $25 billion to tap the increasingly affluent and mobile market of tourists just across the border in mainland China. This investment has prompted remarkable economic development in the tiny city as well as a phantasmagoric transformation of the cityscape and a concomitant transmutation of Macao's social landscape. Understanding contemporary Macao requires attending to how the legacies of Portuguese colonialism and fascism and Chinese communism and market socialism merge in the spaces of the city today. Drawing inspiration from Walter Benjamin's dialectical analysis of the obsolete commodities of mass culture, this paper meditates through text and photographs on four copresent moments of Macao—socialist fossil, colonial ruin, capitalist dream, and Utopian wish. A form of physiognomic urban ‘dream analysis’ rescues these multiple contradictory meanings of Macau and investigates the city's crucial role in both China's economic reforms and its Utopian desires.

There are official and traditional names of places upon the territory of the town or the city. They have existed from the ancient times till contemporary days. The official ones have been given by the executive body, and the traditional names are describing the place by nearby locations, buildings or natural objects. Toponyms are divided into different classes and subclasses. Horonyms describe nonlinear structures (territories) and were used to call any places on the town’s area, except for streets or squares. Horonyms do not provide the information about the official administrative division of the contemporary time but were putting traditional names in use.In order to answer the question - how long this class of the city’s names lasted, one has to base on retrospective comparison of the pre-statistical source. The contemporary vocabulary of Lviv’s dialect (“Leksykon lvivskyy povazhno i na zhart”) have fixed 65 horonyms of Lviv’s area, which currentlyare being used by city dwellers. That was the basement of analysis by the retrospective method. This data was compared with such sources: late 19 c.-early 20 c. guidebooks and middle 19 c. maps with their accompaniment notes.The administrative units’ division of Lviv’s territory was applied in this article because during the long 19 century Lviv was a part of Austro-Hungary Empire. That’s why 4 groups of horonyms were excluded: 1. the names of the former city’s villages that are currently preserved as the city’s horonyms because those villages were absorbed into the city only during 20th century. (Today names of those former villages do not reflect the administrative units’ division); 2. village Sygnivka, which was founded only in the 20th years of 19thcentury on the area of the former suburb Halytskie of Lviv’s early modern period; 3. the names of villages, which surrounded town’s area, but were not under the rule of the town hall; 4. all names of objects, which were upon the area of these villages.So after the exclusion, we have 48 names (horonyms). The analysis showed that one name came into being in the late 20th century and eight other ones during its first half. Fifteen horonyms, as well, as their names were founded during the 19th century. So, that leaves us with twenty-four names, which were established during the earlier period and are being used now in the city. We need to continue research on a retrospective comparison of the named recorded in the early modern serial sources.

Regarding the accelerated innovation in the 21st century, the article suggests modifying the spatial principles of Research Institutes as isolated institutions. The 21st century Research Institute should reflect the increasing levels of openness and security in modern information exchange methods. Thus, the Institute reveals invisible information processes in the physical urban environment, becoming the urban centre of innovation, a new workplace and leisure centre, as well as a catalyst for enhancing the city’s sustainability. The article analyses the historical paradigm of effective methods for introducing innovation to the urban environment, as well as modern socio-economic needs of innovative research institutes in the city. As a result, a unique organizational structure and functional programme of a new Research Institute are suggested. The Institute directly participates in enhancing the urban environment and forming a new lifestyle of the city dwellers. New spatial principles of such buildings are also proposed, updating the architectural typology of Research Institutes in the 21st century. Due to the increased interaction with the urban environment, the Research Institute and the city are mutually transformed. This contributes both to increasing the Institute’s efficiency and raising the city’s economic potential and life quality.

The 21st-century learning outcomes are essential to be achieved by the students nowadays. A lesson plan is one of the mediums used to insert the skills of the 21st century, which needed to be improved by the students. This study examined English teachers’ readiness in inserting the 21st-century skills in planning the lesson in the city area and suburb area of Badung Regency. This study belonged to a case study and was conducted using a sequential embedded mixed-method, in which mixed the quantitative results with qualitative results to get more valid data. A questionnaire consisted of 17 items used to know the readiness of English teachers, combined with the results on document analysis. Based on the results of the investigation, it showed inconsistent answers of English teachers in the city area and suburb area based on the results on questionnaire and document analysis. English teachers perceived they were ready to insert the 21st-century skills but, based on results on document analysis, it showed English teachers mostly added learning and innovation skills and information, media, and technology skills in the lesson plan. It is suggested English teachers should be more ready by looking up at the standardization of the 21st-century education then combined it with attending seminars on related topics about the implementation of the 21st-century skills.

The article describes and analyzes the current approach to urban planning on the example of two emerging cities: Iskandar, Malaysia and Songdo, South Korea. The aims and objectives of the modern city as a multifunctional, sustainable, flexible and competitive environment of the future. The article also describes forming factors and enterprise. The main ones are industrial enterprises, the intersection of roads and external transport. Examines the specific characteristics and problems of the cities of Songdo and Iskandar that are associated with the geography of the place, climate, socio-economic and cultural context, lack of resources, cultural values and other aspects. Special attention was paid to the description of the development planning strategies of cities and their common problems associated with the scale, speed of growth, development and management of complex and dynamic objects. It identifies the community in shaping the modern urban environment, regardless of climate, cultural, political and socio-economic contexts. The construction of a new city from scratch is not a new idea. In the XX century in the world of urban planning practice shows a huge number of examples. The most interesting foreign experience, where during the XX century was observed four waves of development of new towns, and were submitted to various concepts. New cities provide a unique opportunity to learn from the wisdom and functionality of the existing towns and avoid the mistakes of the past, allowing us to re-create ways of using cities. The ambitious projects of urban scale are subject to numerous risks associated with economic feasibility, suitability for housing and the lack of dynamism, as demonstrated by many post-war and the new colonial cities. New cities offer unprecedented opportunities to experiment with innovative ideas, learn from past mistakes, to reproduce the beauty and energy created by the city and integrate technologies from the earliest stages. Starting from scratch means that new cities have the potential to resolve and improve problems of existing cities to be more intelligent and less wasteful and more socially open and creative.

The main objective of this research is to improve the skills-based teaching skills of the 21st century through academic supervision of peer modeling methods for teachers of SD Gugus I, Rappocini District, Makassar City. In accordance with the objectives, in this school action research, 24 research subjects were selected who were intervened in the academic supervision of peer modeling methods in the form of action research. Based on the results of the data analysis above, it can be understood that both the ability to design lesson plans and the ability to carry out 21st-century skills-based learning activities from pre, cycle I, to cycle II have increased, namely the average score in making pre-cycle lesson plans is 2.171, cycle I increase to 3.02, and the second cycle 3,734. Whereas the ability to implement 21st-century skills-based learning the average score in the pre-cycle was 2.84, the first cycle increased to 3.30, and the second cycle was 3.53. If you look at the predetermined criteria, the average ability to design RPP is categorized as good. Likewise, the ability to carry out 21st-century skills-based learning is also categorized as good. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the teaching ability of 21st-century skills-based teachers in Cluster I, Rappocini District, Makassar City, especially for 24 people, has increased after the application of peer modeling-based academic supervision.

The papers deals with the Neopaganism as a spiritual quest of city dwellars in Ukraine in the late 20th – the early 21st century. We focused on differences in perception of the Neopaganism in 1990s and assessing its prospects during his appearance and some distribution in Ukraine and, since the 2000s to nowadays, especially with the popularization of the "virtual world" and accessibility of information. Singled out the main trends of this process: on the one hand, increasing the number of Self-pagans, especially among those who joined the movement in the early 21st century; and concern by the "big" Neopaganism such aspirations to self-pagan way of separation from the community or association. Remarkably, it is Ukrainian city dwellars who is turning to pre-Christian past as the current outlook at the end of the 20th – the early 21st century. According to adherents of the Neopaganism, "we should go back to move forward", so to say for the further progress we should return to pre-Christians practices. Without a strong material and financial base, human resources, information influence, based mainly on the romantic enthusiasm of his followers from late 1980s – early 1990s, the modern paganism took its niche among different religions in Ukraine, acquiring various forms and manifestations, which sometimes go far beyond a pure religion.

This article seeks to explore the relationship between populism, 21st-century socialism, and the emergence of what has been referred to as an ‘ estado delincuente’ (criminal state), in the case of Venezuela. That is, a state structure permeated with transnational organized crime mafias in the executive and the judiciary, in the financial system, the prosecutor’s office, the police, the armed forces, the prison system, state-owned companies, governorships, and city councils, among other state institutions. First, I review conceptual aspects of populism to understand how this served as the basis for creating the postulates of 21st-century socialism, which promoted the institutional destruction of Venezuelan democracy and created the conditions for the unbridled dissemination of state corruption. Second, emblematic cases of white-collar and blood crimes, nepotism and other corrupt activities are discussed to provide an idea of the magnitude of the issues that permeate the state apparatus. To conclude, I provide a critical summary of the consequences of this way of doing politics in contemporary Venezuela.

21st-century leaders need strong leadership skills to effectively lead schools. They must use and implement 21st-century skills for long term change. The study aimed to identify the practices of secondary school leaders of Rawalpindi city about [recommended] 21st century 4 Cs leadership skills (Competence, Character, Compassion & Courage) during the pandemic of Covid-19. This was exploratory research following the quantitative research approach. One hundred and nine school leaders were selected through a simple random sampling technique to complete an adapted survey questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used for analyzing and reporting the findings. Quantitative data analysis indicates that school leaders are using 21st-century leadership skills during Covid-19, but the level of use is dissimilar to the recommended 21st century 4 Cs leadership skills. It was identified that school leaders use relationship (mean= 4.21), Accountability (mean= 4.45), and Self-Belief (mean= 4.37) skills more than other sub-skills in their leadership practices. The findings recommend that policymakers and professional development organizations should plan workshops on these recommended leadership skills for school leaders so they can perform well under situations like Covid-19.

This service aims to solve partner problems (teachers of 49 and 53 Junior High School Makassar City), namely developing 21st century learning tools to increase teacher pedagogical potential. The form of this service is training with direct assistance. Output targets in training activities are (1) Increasing teacher knowledge in developing 21st century-based learning tools, namely learning implementation plans (lesson plans), worksheets, and assessment instruments; (2) Increase teacher knowledge in developing teacher competency. Output targets in mentoring activities are to produce products in the form of learning tools based on 21st century learning including Product Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Student Worksheet Products, and Product Assessment Instruments. The dedication method used to achieve the goal (output) is by adopting a mechanism for implementing action research which consists of 4 (four) stages, namely: planning, action, observation-evaluation, and reflection. The planning stage is the preparation stage, the action stage is the core stage (the realization of the IbM in the form of training and mentoring, the observation and evaluation stage is the stage of measuring the success of the program, while the reflection stage is the policy making stage (strategic step) in continuing the program to improve things that have been done before The results of the teacher training assistance at 49 and 53 Junior High School Makassar City are categorized as successful and very active in developing 21st century based learning tools.

“Bike maps,” commonly produced by city governments to encourage bicycling, tend to rely heavily on subjective recommendations aimed at an ideal “typical cyclist.” Such a typical cyclist is increasingly illusory as people take up cycling for ever more diverse and practical purposes. In order to make bike maps useful for a general audience, we need to rethink some of the basic assumptions these maps have been making. The question should be: what do all cyclists want to know, and how can this information be quantified and depicted such that cyclists can use it to make informed decisions? With this question foremost in mind, we explain the development of a bike map for Cincinnati, Ohio that (almost) completely avoids unquantifiable judgments and, we hope, lights the way for future development of the bike map genre.
