A first attempt to understand human motivation dates back to the time of Greek philosophers and focuses on hedonisms a basic driving force in human behavior One of the first studies on motivation in the workplace is the work of Frederick Taylor (1911) and his collaborators that resulted in the development of the Scientific Management theory. In the 1950s, many new models of employees motivation emerged, while in the mid-1960s, a new approach to studying work motivation emerged, that focused on outlining the processes that could explain job motivation. These American motivation theories reflect the cultural environment of the United States of the late 19th and 20th century and were developed based on American national culture in conditions of rapid economic growth. In Greece during 2010-2018 a great economic crisis happened resulted in high and constantly increasing unemployment rates, and a reduction in the well-being. It may be therefore not be particularly suited to studying cases that escaped this particular socio-economic model or required a rethink of the importance of the motivation factors considered by them.

The accession of Ireland, Greece, Spain and Portugal into the European Community was a significant move towards manifesting everlasting peace by means of a single market. The incorporation of these four weaker countries into the European Union (EU) marked a break from the EU’s traditional purview. The paradigm shift of the EU’s approach to enlargement placed Member States onto a path that would harness the full capabilities of a common market in improving civilians quality of life while simultaneously achieving individual Member States’ objectives including growth, employment, and trade. The regional effects of the EU’s single market are drastically different from the effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). A much newer trading bloc (NAFTA came into effect on January 1, 1994), it lacks the wisdom and fine tuning of the EU. The governments of the United States, Mexico, and Canada signed the treaty1while hailing how it would “fuel economic growth and dynamic trade, stimulate investment while creating productive partnerships, work for small and medium sized businesses and provide fairness and certainty. NAFTA partners promote environmental protection, and provide greater job opportunities in North America”.2 Yet the effects seem to be the exact opposite. NAFTA has been called “one of the most innovative, astounding documents of the 20th century by the stoic…”3, but this so-called “innovative depth” has reduced barriers to trade and investment, without the necessary checks and balances. For Mexico, NAFTA merely expedited and formalized “the silent integration” that had been occurring since the Border Industrialization Project of 1965— without adding anything new to the table.4 Unlike the EU, NAFTA is a rigid document that has not reformed itself as needed to address issues of border control, immigration policies, and uneven socioeconomic development. In spite of sincere hopes for free trade and economic integration to raise living standards across the continent, the reality is that the unfettered markets have permitted NAFTA to persistently ignore the uneven economic development, and vulnerabilities each country faces. In so doing, the United States has been a quiet bystander to the inequalities proliferating from unchecked free trade. Both countries have been left vulnerable to NAFTA backlash. Mexico’s vulnerability stems from unsound economic development policies and overall slow growth. These factors have increased the US’ vulnerability, to migration. Fed up with uneven development, lack of job opportunities, poor working conditions, and low wages, many Mexicans are taking matters into their own hands and crossing the border, often illegally. Militaristic efforts to “defend” the border have done nothing but increase political tensions and migrant death tolls. NAFTA does not address the immigration problem and its root cause of unequal development. This paper begins with the European Union’s initial experience with enlargements and the experimentation process it underwent to reduce economic and social disparities between regions to further facilitate their single market objectives. After considering how the EU’s cohesion policy strengthened its own single market while simultaneously curbing migration, we present the NAFTA scenario, specifically against the backdrop of Mexico and the United States, in order to highlight the impotent mechanisms the United States relies upon to quiet the waves of economic migrants.

The purpose of the analysis is to identify prospects and opportunities for the development of the oil industry of Arab countries (including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates. Kuwait, Qatar. Oman, Iraq) as well as Iran, Venezuela, Russia and some others), in the difficult postpandemic and political conditions of 2022. In our opinion, there is a strong influence on the oil industry of cyclical and structuralcyclical fluctuations of the world economy, along with the environmental policy of the OECD countries, long-term trends in the consumption of fossil fuels. In this aspect, the historical approach to analysis contributes to a better forecasting of the studied problem, namely, an experience of the OPEC policy in the 20th century. At the same time, in the context of the events of 2022, there is an overlap of political factors of the development of the oil market with its economic trends. This may lead to a change in the entire configuration of the oil market and industry. The bet on the exceptionally decisive role of "green energy" does not fully justify itself due to various difficulties. The oil resource is viewed differently by developing countries and OECD. Under these conditions, it is possible to identify and justify the impact of a number of unexpectedly intensified factors and strategic directions of the development of the oil industry for key OPEC+ member countries. In the article the methods of macro and microeconomic analysis, historical approach, statistical analysis, and partly, political analysis, are used. The results can be used in further investigation of oil-exporting countries oil policy.

The global problems of energy supply and demand, climatic change due to artificial global warming, and providing economical and clean human comfortable condition are a complex issue. These problems have become globally political, economical and technological in the center stage of global arena. Utilization of alternative energy resources which are clean and green, hand in hand with the development of alternative clean and green technologies can indeed reduce the global and environmental problems. This paper invasions the idea of harnessing the power of clean energy resources and of developing clean technology for the production of clean environmental conditions. Synergization of clean energy resources, clean technologies and production of clean environment is implemented through the thermally activated desiccant cooling system. The experimental facility is constructed which consists of thermal energy system, desiccant cooling system and the artificially controlled environmental conditions for experimental evaluation purposes. Preliminary experimental investigation is being undertaken to evaluate the performance of the thermal energy system and of the desiccant cooling system. Based on the results, thermal energy system is functioning to its expectations. However, the desiccant cooling system still needs improvement to optimize its cooling capacity. With this study, practical combination of clean energy utilization and of clean technology development for the production of clean environment is possible through proper design and implementation.

People in the developing countries who lack basic services and economic opportunities are primarily concerned with improving their living conditions. At present, unemployment problem in the rural areas of the developing countries are diversifying the moral values and social responsibilities of unemployed youth. To solve the problem, rural development centres (involving vocational training, IT services and other productive activities) can contribute significantly for the upliftment of these rural youths and can transform them into grass-root entrepreneurs. One critical factor hindering the establishment of such rural development centers is access to affordable and reliable energy services. Under this backdrop, environmentally benign renewable energy systems can contribute significantly in providing much needed energy in the unserved or underserved rural development centers in the developing countries to achieve both local and global environmental benefits. The paper demonstrates that energy deficient, economically backward communities in the off-grid areas of the developing countries, can be given an array of opportunities for income generation and social progress through rural development centers with the aid of renewable energy sources (such as wind, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, biomass and micro-hydro), thereby improving their standard of living. Poverty alleviation in rural areas can be accomplished and the critical role of access to adequate level of energy services, Information Technology (IT) and modern communication facilities in it demonstrated. Furthermore, the production, implementation, operation and maintenance of renewable energy applications being labor-intensive, will also result in job growth in the village context, preventing migration of labor force, especially of young men, from rural areas to overcrowded industrial areas. An appropriately designed renewable energy systems can also have a significant role in reducing the impact of climate change through non production of green house gases.

Mattioli, Matteo, und Annamaria Di Padova. „On the Subsea Production System Availability with Resident Drones. A Reliability, Availability, Maintenability RAM Analysis“. In Offshore Technology Conference. OTC, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.4043/30918-ms.

Abstract The challenge in the Oil&Gas industry to remain competitive in a low oil price whilst dealing with minimization of operational risk and uptime asset maximization is leading offshore Companies to evolve thought proactive and predictive maintenance approaches. In the event of unplanned intervention due to anomalies or warning messages at the dispatching center, the decision on the size of the support vessel and its utilization for straordinary maintenance could be time consuming with potential high cost impact, also due to loss of production. Even the new generation of remote condition and monitoring systems, which allow to improve the capability of operators for early warnings and surveillance, provide a reliable solution for emergencies. In this context, resident subsea drones enable on-demand inspection whilst eliminating the need for support vessel and allow operator to manage the risk in continued operations also for dangerous areas restricted to human access. A case study relevant to a new subsea field development have been conducted. Distinctive Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analyses have been performed with the aim to get insight on the subsea production system availability considering a resident drone and to demonstrate how the so called "stategic maintainability" can be applied successfully in the decision-making process while reducing the OPEX. The former related to conventional IMR (Inspection, Maintenance & Repair) based on Condition Based and RBI, Risk Based Inspection approach, the latter related to strategic maintenability with resident drones. The application of such analysis required a multi-disciplinary approach together with the possibility of processing historical data in operating conditions. Historical data sources (e.g. OREDA dataset) were collected to obtain failure rates and active repair times typical of subsea equipment. Direct experience gained in over forty years of inspection and maintenance activities together with recent developments on subsea resident robotics allow the understanding of real internvention timing. Results show that resident subsea drones applied for early inspection and light intervention are confirmed timely and costless solution respect to conventional IMR services. They represent the first aid for environmental surveillance and subsea inspection in case of emergency and provide a relevant saving of subsea production un-availability. The economic value emerged from the presented case study represents a step change for OPEX optimization and motivates Best-in-Class Operators to get an insight case-by-case for both green and aging fields.
