Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the 1920s, a new kind of food flourished in American cities before taking hold of the highways and the suburbs, and settling as a lasting symbol of American culture and soft power: fast food. Fast food franchises rapidly conquered the nation, with McDonald’s as their undisputed leader. Many studies have considered the United States through its unique relationship to fast food, but few have explored the way in which this industry is intertwined with carnism, the ideology according to which it is normal, natural and necessary for human beings to eat other animals as well as products obtained through their exploitation (eggs, dairy). This thesis studies American culture through the prism of fast food and carnism. Following into the footsteps of critical animal studies, it endeavors to restore the visibility of the victims exploited and slaughtered for food on a massive scale. It deals with the impact that fast foods have had on American culture and American politics, and seeks to determine whether the ultra-carnism of these restaurants has spawned a specific, supersized American carnism, which, through globalization, has spread to many “McDonaldized” nations. As carnism is a diet which relies on massive animal slaughter, this work understands it as a violent phenomenon, although this violence is often unnoticeable, as it is associated with the systematic invisibilization of its victims

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleO planeamento da cidade requer uma abordagem consciente no que diz respeito aos conflitos territoriais associados a diferentes níveis económicos, sociais, tecnológicos e urbanos. A cidade contemporânea que se expande de forma dispersa, contribui para a insustentabilidade do território, contrapondo-se ao idealismo de uma cidade mais equilibrada nas relações entre o homem e a natureza. Face a tal problemática, este Projeto Final de Mestrado propõe uma estratégia urbana com base no estudo da Resiliência Urbana, utilizando como caso de estudo Carnide. Neste território, caracterizado pelos contrastes entre as estruturas rurais e as novas urbanizações na periferia da capital, deve ser considerado a preservação da memória e da sua identidade. Contudo é uma área fortemente infraestruturada que gera altos níveis de fragmentação quando analisados a uma escala de maior proximidade. A Resiliência Urbana surge como tema gerador para a fundamentação e implementação de outros conceitos que contribuam para o equilíbrio entre a componente natural e a artificialização do território. Valorizando não só o planeamento consciente em relação aos sistemas naturais, assim como a ética e os valores do indivíduo correspondente ao sentido de responsabilidade pessoal para a vitalidade do planeta. Pretende-se com este projeto complementar o conhecimento tradicional com novos dados e novas tecnologias, possibilitando a sua incorporação em novos modelos urbanos que utilizem melhor os recursos naturais, sem comprometer a sua durabilidade, minimizando o risco de futuros desastres, aumentando assim a resiliência do território.
ABSTRACT: City planning requires a conscious approach regarding territorial conflicts associated with different economical, social, technological and urban levels. Contemporaneous city expands in a disperse form, contributing to territorial unsustainability, opposing the idealism of a more balanced city in the relationships between man and nature. Before such a problematic, this Master’s Degree Final Project proposes a urban strategy based on the study of Urban Resilience, utilizing Carnide as case study. In this territory, characterized by the contrasts between the rural structures and new urbanizations at the capital’s outskirts, should be considered the preservation of memory and its identity. Although it is an area strongly infra-structured which generates high levels of fragmentation when analysed at a more proximate scale. Urban Resilience appears as a generating theme for the substantiation and implementation of other concepts which contribute to the balance between the natural component and artificialization of territory. Valuing not only the conscious planning in relationship to the natural systems, just as the ethics and values of the individual corresponding to the sense of personal responsibility to the vitality of the planet. It is pretended with this project to complement the traditional knowledge with new data and new technologies, enabling its incorporation in new urban models that better utilize natural resources, without committing its durability, minimizing risk of future disasters, augmenting in this way the resilience of the territory.

Based on ethnographic experience of the encounter from natural and modern kitchens, a therapeutic healing house rises as a representation of a socio-ecological conflict that operates in the formation of different types of cookery expertise. Among 'modern chefs that naturalizes human taste', ‗barefoot female cooks' take us for a walk through the production fields, of commensality of natural foods in search of detailing the historical exclusion of female soul from the art of cookery (DORIA, 2013). Sensitized by a mind-and-body practice based on integrality, openness and attention, this barefoot women seek to grant legitimacy to female devir, in exercising alternative cure methods while facing a quarrelsome modern culinaric habitus responsible for reifying hodiern social gastro-anomie (FISCHLER, 1979). Different theoretical horizons, the dwell perspective (INGOLD, 2011) and acctancy (LATOUR, 1994), were gathered comparatively in order to compose a comprehensive analysis of a ‗eco-vegetarian‘ background, complemented by a parallel ethnographic immersion among producers of organic food in Brazil (ENCA) and Spain (WWOOF) in order to discuss emerging responsibilities in contemporary ecological devir, analysis the anti-ecology immanent in modern dietetic sciences.
Dedicada à investigação da emergência social do cozinheiro enquanto sujeito comedor, apresentamos uma etnografia sobre a estruturação da Cozinha Natural, e das ressignificação sócio-dietética decorrente de uma inversão da cosmo-ecologia gastronômica modernamente instituída. A casa de cura alternativa que nasce como representação de um conflito sociológico heteróclito, entre humanos e não-humanos, contextualiza a formação de uma expertise culinárica contemporânea - cozida no campo da construção da alteridade. O encontro fronteiriço entre as cozinhas natural e moderna ocorre em meio a um processo de legitimação social, de ‗cozinheiras de pés descalços‘ mediadas por uma experiência de desnaturalização do paladar e libertação da corpo feminino. A moderna exclusão do espírito feminino do recinto culinárico (DORIA, 2013) em favor dos chefs, figura como naturalização de nossa animalidade, na instituição de um habitus dietético carnista indesejado, reificador do atual estado de gastroanomia sociológico (FISCHLER, 1979). Uma análise compreensiva da prática dietética vegetariana e da intersubjetividade dos modos de vida consecutivos, é complementada por um empreendimento etnográfico entre produtores de alimentos orgânicos na Espanha.

Foi desmembrado no início do século XIX, com a extinção das últimas congregações religiosas, colocado em depósito e integrado finalmente em 1913 no acervo do MNAA. A sua aparência revela o estado díspar em que foi conservado até hoje. O projecto de exposição deste conjunto Natalício, criou a oportunidade de efectuar um estudo aprofundado deste tipo de objecto artístico e estabelecer de critérios de intervenção O trabalho de investigação foi auxiliado por análises laboratoriais que conduziram a um melhor conhecimento da obra e à definição dos tratamentos a efectuar.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe essay examines the recent media coverage of meat consumption from an animal ethical perspective. The study is based on the theory of carnism and critical discourse analysis. For the article search Mediearkivet Retriever was used and the search was limited to four main newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Expressen and Svenska Dagbladet. The time span was from the beginning of 2014 until today. The essays material consisted of 25 articles and from them five discourses were identified: The meat norm discourse, the animal rights discourse, the health discourse, the market economy discourse and the environmental discourse. The discourses often related to one another and often included more than one perspective. The study showed that the hegemonic discourse is the meat norm discourse. Although many of the articles were in favor of a drastic cut down of meat consumption, and suggested consumption of only Swedish and organic meat, the norm was still to consume meat. Although statistics show very high meat consumption, there seem to be a surprising consensus in the articles that meat consumption must decrease drastically, for health reasons, the environment and for the wellbeing of animals.

Diversos països membres de la UE i l’OMS recomanen reduir el consum de sal a 5 grams diaris. La sal és un ingredient essencial en el processat de productes carnis. Una reducció de la quantitat afegida provoca una disminució de la qualitat. Com a estratègia per a no minvar-la, es planteja la reducció de la sal afegida i l’addició de lactat potàssic, fins a un 30% de substitució molar de la quantitat de sal estàndard (30 g/kg); quelcom que pot modificar els paràmetres de procés. El coneixement dels efectes facilitaria l’optimització del processat. En productes carnis crus-curats amb contingut reduït de sal, es conclou que l’estratègia plantejada redueix tant el temps requerit pel processat com el risc d’aparició de textures anòmales; incrementa la seguretat del producte acabat i no modifica els atributs visuals.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study is a conscious attempt at opening up the discussion on the Italian giallo film of the 1960’s & 1970’s. Part of its mission is examine views and writings currently available on the giallo and using these to analyse the body of films known as the giallo. It is also an attempt at the generic definition seeing the giallo as a series of thriller films according to Tzvetan Todorov’s model and in depth discussing the influence of the horror story and the whodunit. Beyond that it is a close look upon the form and devices of giallo narration, with focus upon the role of the eyewitness, focalization and point of view as first person narration. The study also traces the giallo’s influences interdisciplinary including placing it in the cultural context of the Italian adult comics known as fumetti neri. The study also includes a close look upon the idea of the eroticised violent set piece tracing it to the French theatre of horror – the Grand Guignol. Furthermore the study addresses the concept of seriality as understood in reference to the giallo. Finally the study examines the role of the giallo hero and suggests that the giallo is posing existential questions, and can be understood as existential suspense thrillers. The findings are exemplified through a wide scope of films including brief references and longer analytic examples elaborating on topical discussions in this developing field of study.

A selection of carnists,vegetarians and vegans in Malmö, Sweden, and Berlin, Germany, were studied with semistructured interviews and Grounded Theory was used as a methodological base for data collection, analysis and interpretation. The geographical comparison was motivated by some perceived differences and similarities, as it was believed to contribute to a broader perspective. By applying different theories, we aimed in this study to identify which factors that influence the willingness and ability of the individual to reduce the own consumption of animal products. It was found that norms, values, knowledge, economic incentives, availability and ethical aspects were the most influential factors.

Per a tal fi es van realitzar diversos challenge tests, amb un enfoc orientat a producte, que van permetre tractar els resultats obtinguts mitjançant la modelització matemàtica. En pernil curat es va avaluar l’efecte d’un tractament per HP sol o combinat amb nisina (aplicació directa o mitjançant envasat actiu) vers Listeria monocytogenes, durant la vida útil del producte. En productes cuits es va quantificar i modelitzar la cinètica d’inactivació per HP de Listeria monocytogenes obtenint un model predictiu d’inactivació per HP, i posteriorment es va caracteritzar el comportament del patogen després del tractament per HP i durant l’emmagatzematge en refrigeració a diferents temperatures

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleO crescimento demográfico que se observou ao longo dos anos na cidade de Lisboa levou ao desenvolvimento das suas freguesias. Não obstante, por vezes foram esquecidas as suas ruas primitivas, bem como os elementos já existentes no espaço, tendo estes sido absorvidos pelos novos desenhos urbanos e pelo crescimento desmesurado. São os elementos novos que levaram a desvalorização dos centros históricos, que hoje se procura valorizar e melhorar. Nos dias de hoje, a reabilitação tem outro impacto, relativamente ao que ocorria no início do séc. XX. Já não se reabilita somente o que está edificado, mas também o espaço envolvente, a um nível urbano, tentando assim preservar a identidade de todo um local e não só de uma fachada. Nesta linha de pensamento, surge a presente proposta de reabilitação urbana para uma das ruas primitivas de Lisboa, configurando-a como um espaço de lazer urbano e uma nova fachada. O objeto de estudo é a reabilitação urbana da Rua da Fonte e o seu edifício de gaveto, situado em Carnide, uma das entradas mais antigas para o centro histórico desta freguesia. Carnide tem sofrido bastantes alterações ao longo dos últimos anos, principalmente na zona histórica, pelo que se objetiva a valorização desta entrada, que tem perdido a sua importância face ao crescimento urbano envolvente, de forma a dar uma nova vida a este espaço, a partir de intervenções de reabilitação e valorização do espaço e do edificado presente.
The population increase through out the years in the city of Lisbon as lead to the development of its pariches. Nevertheless, sometimes the primitive streets, have been forgoteen, as well as the elements that already exist in the area, have beeing absorved by the new urban design and the excessive growth.The new elements are the ones leading to the under evoluation of the historical center, that nowdays are searching to value and improve. Now days, the reabilitation has another impact, comparing what use to happen in the begining of the XX century. The reabilitation is no longer restrict to what is built, but also to the envolving area, to an urban level, trying this way to preserve the identity of a whole space and not just a façade. In thiis line of thinking, emerges the present proposal of a urban reabilitation for one of the primitive street of Lisbon, configuring it as a new urban space and a façade. The studing object is the urban reabilitation of Rua da Fonte and its corner building, located in Carnide, one of the oldest entres to the old historical center of the pariches. Carnide as sufered a lot of changes in the past years, mainly in the historical area, that the objective is the realization of this, witch as list its importance facing the surrouding urban development, this way giving a new life to this area, starting from reabilitation and valorization interventions of the area and the contruction it self.

O quadro teórico aborda, sobretudo, a questão da intervenção educacional da Junta de Freguesia de Carnide, que excede largamente o que corresponde à sua obrigação legal. Ao longo do estágio participei em algumas actividades inseridas no Projecto Carnide Educa a Tempo Inteiro, numa lógica de Freguesia Educadora, a tempo inteiro. Realizei um projecto de investigação de avaliação da Componente de Apoio à Família, que pretende percepcionar se o serviço está a responder às necessidades das famílias, o que, após a análise de todos os resultados, foi confirmado.
The present report was developed in the context of a Masters Degree in Sciences of Education, with a specialization in Educational Administration. The corresponding work placement took place in Junta de Freguesia de Carnide, from December 2009 to June 2010. The theoretical background is focused mainly on the educational intervention of Junta de Freguesia de Carnide, which largely exceeds its legal requirements. Throughout this work assignment I took an active part in some of the activities included in the Project “Carnide Educa a Tempo Inteiro”, which took place in the logic of a full-time educating Freguesia. I have undertaken a research project consisting in the evaluation of the Family Support Component, which aimed to assess whether this service actually corresponds to the needs of the families. This, after a careful and thorough analysis of all data, has indeed been confirmed.

This research is based on the study of a Lisbon axis, between Praça do Comércio and Estrada da Pontinha, which remains virtually unchanged from 1373 till today, in order to support a public space intervention based on the assumption that the historical and urban heritage of this axis, can be told interacting with the pedestrians through visual landmarks placed on a track which guides the way.

Em volta deste território nasceram construções sobrelevadas relativamente às já existentes que vêm reforçar o modo de vida particular de Carnide Velho, e que, em certa medida se encontra “esquecido”. Deste modo, e partindo deste conhecimento apriorístico, quero com este trabalho aferir o modo como a população residente e não residente do Núcleo Histórico de Carnide, dentro dos limites da área metropolitana de Lisboa, olha para este território. Com este objetivo foram realizados 3 tipos de inquéritos, sensivelmente similares, adaptados a 3 populações distintas. População Local, residente ou trabalhadora; população circundante, das imediações próximas, não ultrapassando os limites das freguesias contiguas e população longínqua, residente na Àrea Metropolitana de Lisboa Norte e Sul. O inquérito é composto por 3 partes; na primeira, identificação fotográfica, são mostradas imagens do NHC para verificar o seu reconhecimento; na segunda são efetuadas uma série de perguntas fechadas, e algumas perguntas abertas para permitir uma maior amplitude de resposta, e na terceira parte é pedido aos inquiridos que identifiquem o território de Carnide no mapa da Cidade de Lisboa. O trabalho estruturou-se assim em duas partes, uma primeira onde é feita uma leitura do território através da “imagem” projetada de Carnide ao longo do tempo e uma reflexão acerca da forma como estas imagens se formam. Na segunda, são dissecados os resultados do inquérito realizado para as 3 populações, com a análise e apontamento dos dados relevantes. No final são apresentadas as conclusões gerais. De destacar o facto do conhecimento deste Núcleo Histórico depender muito mais de uma relação de afetividade do que da relação de proximidade física, que naturalmente influencia e é transversal ao conhecimento da maioria dos territórios. Verificou-se também uma diferença nas conceções apriorísticas face ao território em análise a Norte ou a Sul do Rio Tejo.
Carnide Historical Core gives us a characteristic picture of the "village", inserted in the Lisbon current core, keeping intact the small scale that leads us to a "rural" reality. Around this area were raised mushroom buildings in relation to existing ones that reinforce the particular way of life of Old Carnide that in certain main is "forgotten". Therefore, and based on this a priori knowledge, I want with this work to access how the resident and nonresident population of Carnide Historical Core within Lisbon metropolitan area limits looks for this territory. With this objective have been conducted three roughly similar types of surveys, adapted to three distinct populations: Local people residing or working; surrounding population, on the nearby vicinity, not exceeding the limits of the contiguous parishes and distant population residing in North and South Lisbon Metropolitan Area. The survey consists of 3 parts, the first, photographic identification, where NHC’s pictures are shown to verify its recognition, in the second are made not only a series of closed-ended questions, but also some open-ended questions in order to allow a wider range of responses, and in the third part is asked to identify the Carnide´s territory on Lisbon map. The work was structured in two parts. In the first it’s made a reading through the "image"of the Carnides territory projected over time and a reflection on how these images are formed. In the second part it is dissected the results of the survey conducted for the three populations, with the notation and analysis of relevant data. At the end are present the general conclusions. To highlight the fact that the knowledge of this Historic Core depends much more of a warm relationship than the physical proximity, which naturally influences and it is transversal to the knowledge of most of the territories. There was also a primary difference in the conceptions over the territory at the north or south of the Tejo River.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleCarnide não perdeu as suas características de ruralidade, mantém ainda hoje particularidades típicas de uma aldeia, no interior da cidade de Lisboa. No entanto, o seu Centro Histórico encontra-se ameaçado. A reabilitação do seu edificado é essencial para travar o progressivo envelhecimento da população e desertificação do bairro, devolvendo a vida regeneradora a este lugar, conferindo-lhe condições necessárias para atrair novos moradores e actividades, capazes de cativar as pessoas à permanência neste local e até de atrair mais pessoal jovem trazendo uma nova dinâmica a este centro histórico. Por outro lado, o património arquitectónico representa um bem valioso considerando os aspectos de identidade, culturais, sociais e económicos, estabelece a ligação entre o passado e o futuro, oferecendo valores, significados e sensibilidades que garantem a preservação da nossa identidade cultural, havendo assim uma ligação constante de conceito de identidade e de pertença. Esta dissertação pretende constituir uma nova proposta sobre a recuperação do Património Edificado Urbano em Carnide, mantendo a memória histórica e o espírito do lugar. A escolha recai sobre um edifício que se encontra em ruína, restando apenas as paredes de fachada, situado na rua da Fonte. Esta rua, além de ser uma das principais vias de acesso a este centro histórico, é também a via que faz a ligação entre o Jardim da Luz e o centro de Carnide, portanto com uma localização privilegiada para ser visitada por quem quer conhecer este centro histórico. Neste caso a fachada é o legado, o património que vale a pena reflectir. Além disso é o elemento da envolvente com maior superfície, o que tem mais contacto com as pessoas, tanto as que se encontram no exterior como no interior do edifício e, por isso, este elemento será encarado como uma oportunidade de valorização do que foi deixado como legado. Assim esta proposta de projecto, ao mesmo tempo que dá monumentalidade as paredes existentes como memorial do passado e do espírito do lugar, acrescenta-lhe um novo volume que, embora preservando o ambiente intimista e de recolhimento, confere a modernidade necessária aos novos usos do edifício. O seu uso foi alterado, de forma a atrair uma camada mais jovem a este lugar trazendo uma nova dinâmica. O edifício que outrora foi habitação, passaria segundo esta proposta, a ser uma residencial para estudantes. Pretende-se com este estudo criar um elemento sensível às transformações da nossa sociedade, experimentando novas dinâmicas e conceitos. Não ficando na memória apenas por ser um local de passagem, mas pelo contrário, um elemento em destaque. Um ponto marcante, que pela sua morfologia estimule os sentimentos, o impensável, o inesperado. Um edifício que pelo seu carácter e uso estimule novas dinâmicas neste centro histórico de Carnide.
Carnide did not lose its characteristics of rurality and still retains the typical peculiarities of a village within the city of Lisbon. However, its historical centre is threatened. The rehabilitation of its buildings is essential to halt the progressive aging of the population and depopulation of the district, thus returning regenerating life into this place and giving it the necessary conditions to attract new residents and activities, conditions that will be able to attract people to remain in the place and to attract more young people, bringing a new momentum to this historic centre. On the other hand, the architectural heritage is a valuable asset considering the identity, cultural, social and economic aspects; it links the past and the future, providing values, meanings and sensibilities that guarantee the preservation of our cultural identity, so that there is a constant binding of the concept of identity and belonging. This thesis aims to offer a new proposal on the recovery of the Built Heritage in Urban Carnide, keeping the historical memory and spirit of the place. The choice falls on a building that lies in ruins, leaving only the walls of the façade, situated at the Rua da Fonte. This street, besides being one of the main routes of access to the historic center, is also the way that makes the connection between the Jardim da Luz and the center of Carnide therefore in a prime location to be visited by anyone who wants to know this historical place. In this case the facade is the legacy, the heritage that is worth reflecting. It is also the surrounding element with higher surface, which has more contact with people, both those that are outside and inside the building, so it was seen as an opportunity for recovery of what was left as a legacy. So this project, while preserving the walls in ruins as a memorial of the past and the spirit of the place, adds a new volume that, although keeping the environment and intimate gathering, gives the necessary modernity to the building new uses. Also, the use has changed, in order to attract a younger layer of people to this place bringing a new dynamic. Thus, the building that once was a household would, according to this proposal, be a home for students. The aim of this study was to create an element sensitive to changes in our society, trying new and dynamic concepts; remaining in memory not just by being a place of passage, but rather a highlighted element; a striking point, which by their morphology stimulates the feelings, the unthinkable, and the unexpected. Creating a building, that, by its nature and use, stimulates new dynamic in the historical center of Carnide.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe historic-cultural panorama of the first three centuries of Christianity allow us to understand, not only how the classic vision of Man, especially Neoplatonist philosophy, shaped this perspective; but also helps us to understand how the Judaeo-Biblical anthropology, also influenced by the Hellenistic context, bestowed the decisive mark on the Christian view of man.In this cultural context and under the influx of other religious traditions, emerged Gnosticism proposing a docetic and dualist type of anthropology. Since it is not possible to deal in depth with the whole problem, we have attempted a possible synthesis of Gnostic anthropogony to its soteriology, in order to better situate the anthropology of St. Irenaeus. Irenaeus' anthropology, in fact, completely opposes Gnostic thought. The first elements of contrast with Gnosticism appear in the biblical exegesis of both the passages in the book of Genesis (Gn 1: 26-27 and Gn 2: 7) and in the Pauline texts dealing with anthropological subjects. The human body, another topic, is a dimension depreciated among the Gnostics but exalted by Irenaeus who, like other ecclesiastical writers, deems the human body to be an essential mean for the realization of human salvation. Salus carnis and the divinization of the human being constitute the realization of the plan of divine salvation that began to manifest visibly with the incarnation of the Word. The redeeming work of Jesus Christ is described and developed by the Bishop of Lyon within the Trinitarian action of the Father, who, through "his hands" the Son and the Spirit, not only creates Man "in His own image and likeness" but also restows the same image and likeness to the human being after he had lost them for sin.

Large economies such as American and European, have devoted great attention to these companies, as they are relevant to the GDP, to create jobs and thus to economic and social cohesion. However companies are very vulnerable because of its founder dependents, so their life cycle is closely linked to the life cycle of the entrepreneur. Furthermore the level of training and know-how of the entrepreneur and their abilities to manage the company and the business are critical. As such are the segment of companies subject to a higher rate of mortality. Portuguese entrepreneurs generally have a greater tendency to live alone and do not reflect the problems together and try to find solutions to this common, because the associations do not really exist for these entrepreneurs. The last three decades have been marked by major changes in technology with great reflexes in the life of society and in the economy as such. We now have an economy dominated by digital and the ecology that has caused major changes to business models. Thus, it is increasingly important to reflect on the ways that businesses should continue, ie it is important to define what each company its strategic since birth, to better identify where the market will operate. Periods of economic crisis adds another level of demand, and now we have to develop very effective strategies which aspects of profitability and financing are critical to business success.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research paper is intended as an added contribution to the ongoing debate on the theme of «public art», highlighting the importance of publics for the success of such art interventions. At the same time, it focuses on some of matters related to this issue, such as «street art», «public-space» and «site». Considering that street art is a type of public art highly present in the urban landscape, we considered that it was important to analyse a concrete national case of an «happening» (a cultural initiative) that showed the intention to engage a given community in its process, right from the start. Consequently and with the intention to understand the impact that it had in Bairro Padre Cruz’s residents (i.e. the epicentre of the festival), in Carnide, we chose the street art festival «MURO | Festival De Arte Urbana Lx_2016». In addition, this research paper aims at inquiring some of the official entities carrying out the event, in order to compare their views with the feedback from some of Bairro's residents. Through a set of semi-structured interviews, we were able to understand the genesis of the festival and the different processes leading to its implementation. However, the main focus of this research is to understand the community‘s role in this event as well as its effects on Bairro Padre Cruz.
