Military logistics as a specific area of logistics management makes the difference between a well-supplied and self-sustainable army which due to an efficiently created supply chain, can perform it’s military actions more efficiently, and an army that, due to insufficient commitment to military logistics activities creates an inefficient army that is cut off from food, water, and other basic resources without which the army can’t function. The specifics of military logistics make this area of logistics management special, formally separated, but essentially very close to the field of business logistics. The aim of this paper is to point out the features that distinguish military logistics management from business logistics management, but also to point out the complexities and limitations that military logistics bring with it. The key determinants of the difference will be presented through the organization of the logistics supply chain, the subjects, participants and goals it involves, but also the risk, the corresponding law, logistics process management approach, innovations, organization systems, and the basic methods of transportation that military logistics brings with it. The given specifics need to be analyzed and compared with the key features of business logistics, where through the examples from practice will be pointed out the points of contact, but also the key differences between these two areas of logistics.

The article describes logistics survey in Estonia carried out in 2007 as a part of the LogOnBaltic project. The level of logistics in Estonian manufacturing, trading and logistics companies is explored through logistics costs, performance indicators, outsourcing, ICT use and logistics self‐estimation of the companies responded. Responses from 186 Estonian companies were gathered through a web‐based survey (38% of manufacturing, 38% of trading and 24% of logistics sector). Logistics costs as the percentage of turnover make in average 13.8% in manufacturing and 13.3% in trading. Transportation and inventory carrying cost form around 70% of overall logistics costs. Considering the logistics indicators surveyed, Estonian companies show up with relatively low perfect order fulfillment rates, short customer order fulfillment cycles and effective management of cash flows. The most widely outsourced logistics function is international transportation followed by domestic transportation, freight forwarding and reverse logistics. By 2010, the outsourcing of IT systems in logistics followed by inventory management, warehousing and product customization is expected to increase more substantially. The awareness of logistics importance is still low among Estonian companies. Only 27–44% of those agree that logistics has a considerable impact on profitability, competitive advantage, top management or customer service level.

Due to the rapidly changing global markets and the impact of digitalization, businesses must continually seek new opportunities to enhance their competitiveness, including the logistics principles application. While logistics alone may not grant substantial competitive advantages, its strategic alignment with key competencies, continuous improvement, and the application of logistics engineering principles can significantly enhance an enterprise's competitive standing. The article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of logistic engineering and its potential to revolutionize enterprise competitiveness management. The primary hypothesis of this research postulates the conception of logistic governance as the creation of an institutional environment that imparts logistic principles and philosophy to all participants. In doing so, it ensures the selection and generation of superior logistic practices among those available in the market. Choosing these best practices and integrating them with dynamic capabilities promotes competitive growth within an enterprise. The selection of best practices is adjusted within the logistics governance framework, which is proposed to be considered a new theoretical concept. Providing additional hypotheses in connection with management's focus has aided in developing a high-level model for logistical engineering. This model highlights two critical processes: an operation process activated by an event timer and the subsequent logistical engineering process. The result of this sequence is the creation of institutional rules for the logistics system, thus establishing an overarching framework. This enhances the system's efficiency and adaptability amidst varied business situations. Keywords: logistics engineering, integrated supply chains, competitiveness management, logistics governance

Today's world is in a period where globalization activities and commercial applications are experienced rapidly. For this reason, logistics is an important business function to offer all kinds of products and services that all global consumers need, at the right time, at the right place, at the right cost, under the right conditions, to the right customer. In terms of businesses, logistics has strategic importance in providing inputs to the business, information flow in the processes of the business and ensuring the appropriate distribution of business outputs in target markets, and it is important both in the planning of operating costs and in terms of gaining value of the business. In addition, logistics enables the realization of the structure defined as the supply chain by providing product and information flow between businesses. In the last quarter of the century, where globalization is gaining momentum day by day, businesses are developing their logistics practices day by day and including them in company processes in order to ensure continuity in their activities and not to lose their customers, who are the most important part of their earnings. However, logistics has generally been tried to be defined as numerical applications made with a pure transportation process and sometimes with computer software. However, although logistics has a financial aspect that includes many numerical operations, there is also a managerial aspect that requires planning, organization and control at every step. By mentioning the emergence and development of logistics activities, which are critical for businesses, the logistics management practices of these activities in businesses, their benefits to businesses and the working areas of logistics management in businesses are examined.

Most of the available papers on the logistics sector identify the type of the business model with the type of logistics service providers, distinguishing between three to five business models. These models most often focus, almost exclusively on the complexity of the logistical services and their scope. The more complex a logistic service is, the more benefits it brings to the company. This is a result of the increase in added value and key competences, and a decrease in the intensity of resources usage. Expanding logistics services to include e-services significantly improves the position of a company in the so-called pyramid of logistics services. The purpose of this article is to identify the use of e-services among the enterprises of the logistics sector and to examine the impact of the use of e-services on the quality of the business model. The realization of the objective was possible thanks to a study carried out among the logistics sector companies that participated in the twentieth edition of the Polish ranking of enterprises in the logistics sector. The analysis of the data from the concluded study was conducted with the use of the methods of multivariate statistical analysis: cluster analysis and correspondence analysis. The carried out study of selected companies of the logistics sector leads to the conclusion that the use of e-services in their offer has a positive effect on the quality of the business model. Offering e-services adds value for the customer, as well as the value for the company, as evidenced by the improved financial condition of enterprises that use e-logistics.

The conditions of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Ukrainian citizens and business entities have faced an extremely acute problem related to the need to preserve their physical existence. Millions of citizens and thousands of businesses are under the potential threat of entering the area of hostilities and occupation. They faced a dilemma: to survive physically, to lose their assets, to leave their homes, or to relocate to safer places within Ukraine or abroad. Aspects that reflect the essence of the problem, certain elements of similarity with the Second World War, which took place on the territory of Ukraine in 1939–1945 are considered in this paper. Current trends that significantly affect the actions of business entities under martial law are analyzed. The «bottlenecks» of the business relocation process are identified, the threats and certain aspects of avoiding possible risks with emphasis on infrastructural and logistical mechanisms are considered. Special attention is paid to the need of careful planning and preparation of the relocation process, taking into account not only economic and social factors, but also security and geopolitical factors. Components of successful business relocation in terms of optimizing material, financial and information flows involved in the production of goods/provision of services are highlighted in this paper. The need to focus more attention on the financial component of relocation, possible sources of financing for its successful implementation is updated. The author’s attention is focused on the lack of clear legislative regulation of the use of personal income tax funds during the full-scale war. Statistical information concerning relocated enterprises for 2022–2023 has been analyzed. Attention is focused on potential relocation opportunities in different regions of Ukraine. The main stages of relocation are considered, the key points, including relocation of certain types of business outside Ukraine, are highlighted. It is emphasized that enterprises planning relocation should carefully consider all aspects of this process, first of all, from the point of view of impact on business not only in real time, but also in the future.

With the graving acceptance of Logistics and Supply Chain Management as critical business concern, there is an emerging realisation that dramatic changes in information communication technology lead to this global logistics business. Managing logistics effectively is a complex and challenging task, as a result of the continuing trends of expanding product variety, short product life cycles, increased outsourcing, globalization of businesses and continuous advances in information technology. In recent years, Logistics Management has grown in acceptance and now at the forefront of every business planning. In this milieu, Information Communication Technology plays a pivotal role in ensuring continued Logistics firm competitiveness and success. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of Information Communication Technology in articulating effective Logistics operation. However, the theoretical basis of Information Communication Technology has not been fully understood within the context of Logistics Management, such that it will give a pointer to how these inherent costs could be managed or saved as well as supplier customer collaborative relationship. It is in the light of this that the study attempt to give theoretical considerations, through descriptive methodology approach, on how basic objectives of logistic can be achieved and its ultimate goal can be realized. The studies conclude that emphasis should be placed on attributes of Information Communication Technology in order to enhance Logistics efficiency and effectiveness and to support the support performance of global Logistics networks.

The importance and the position of mediators in the logistic business operations are generally determined through identifying logistics as a set of important business activities. Accordingly, this paper is designed so that the general characteristics of the logistics providers in the Western economies are presented in its first part, while the second part contains a short critical review of the condition of the logistics outsourcing market in our country. The text essentially refers to emphasizing great differences in both the general logistic knowledge and in the specific characteristics of the logistic mediation between the Western markets and ours. So far two kinds of mediation have been identified in the world: 1) Third party logistics (3PL firms) - partial, i.e. incomplete logistics mediators and 2) Fourth party logistics (4PL firms) - complete logistics mediators basing their activity on the full supply chain. In our country we succeeded in identifying only transport firms and/or shipping agencies as the logistics mediators with a rather limited scope of activity; and as their activity's name implies, they are performing only one or two logistics activities.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate logistics outsourcing as an effective mechanism for improving the efficiency of the enterprise. The authors summarize the arguments and counterarguments in the scientific discussion on logistics outsourcing as one of the best methods of optimizing resources in the activity of enterprises, one of the important factors of modern business. Systematization of the results of the research of scientific sources made it possible to identify the problems of outsourcing use in various spheres of activity of economic entities. Systematization of studies of aspects of enterprise management based on logistic approaches has allowed formulating the statement that special value all over the world in logistics is devoted to outsourcing. For many years there is a tendency in this area to transfer a part or all of the logistics functions to specialized companies and outsourcing of logistics services is used by the vast majority of enterprises. Because, as higher the level of consumption in the country, there is more need to involve in the supply chain the goods of qualified logistics operators and transfer part of their operations to logistics outsourcing. The authors estimate the logistic outsourcing of the enterprise of PE “VEGA LTD” for the method of Yu. Zhelinskiy, which combines the change of income and expenses of the enterprise. Based on the calculations, it is proved that outsourcing for PE “VEGA LTD” is profitable. Therefore, it is advisable to use outsourced services not only for transport logistics but also for other logistic activities of the enterprise. In the process of investigating the problems of logistics outsourcing and its impact on the efficiency of foreign economic activity of the company, the authors proved that outsourcing in logistics is one of the most modern business models. The use of this approach makes it possible to achieve significant competitive advantages in the activity of the enterprise. The main motives that drive outsourcing of logistics functions are the desire to make the business manageable, reduce transaction costs while obtaining quality service and profit. The results of the study are of practical importance and may be useful to scholars interested in the study of logistical outsourcing, as well as to the enterprises where outsourcing is most commonly used.

The digitalization and adoption of advanced technologies in supply chain and logistics not only change the business model but also transfer logistics infrastructure to a service-oriented architecture and introduce new avenues concerning supply chain 4.0 (SC4.0). Sharing logistic assets between various businesses leads to improving logistics work, enhancing work productivity, and reducing logistics expenses and environmental impact. However, due to the lack of a secure, trustworthy, and open sharing platform, the companies are not willing to rely on sharing economics. Aiming to improve trust-ability, openness, and interoperability in the SC4.0, this paper presents a blockchain-enabled hyperconnected logistics platform. Firstly, the Open Logistic platform (OL) is proposed, and the key characteristics of this platform are explained. Secondly, the concept of proof of delivery (PoD) based on smart contracts is defined and developed to explore its rule-based management and control among the dynamic assets sharing. Thirdly, the Blockchain asset sharing service is designed and discussed in the context of asset sharing. Fourthly to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed platform, a simulation environment is developed, and OL is implemented based on the case study.

In the current worldwide economy, logistics are essential to guaranteeing the smooth movement of commodities among different businesses. The pigment business, which is necessary for colouring a wide range of goods, including paints and cosmetics, has particular difficulties with logistical management. The objective of this research is to assess the logistical risks that are common in the pigment business and provide ways to reduce them. A mixed-methods approach is used in the research, integrating quantitative and qualitative analysis. In order to identify important risk variables in pigment logistics, qualitative data is gathered through surveys and interviews with stakeholders, logistics managers, and industry experts. These elements include supplier connections, inventory management, transportation, warehousing, and regulatory compliance. Moreover, quantitative analysis evaluates the frequency and seriousness of hazards revealed by statistical techniques. This entails the creation of a methodology for evaluating logistics risk that is specific to the pigment sector and incorporates variables including regulatory changes, supply chain interruptions, demand volatility, and shipping delays. The report suggests a thorough risk-reduction plan for the logistics of the pigment sector based on its results. This plan includes preventative actions including expanding the variety of transportation routes, implementing sophisticated inventory control systems, creating backup plans, and improving supplier cooperation. This study's consequences go beyond the pigment business; it provides insights that may be applied to other areas of logistics management. Through the investigation of the particular logistical issues encountered by pigment producers, this study enhances the resilience, efficiency, and overall sustainability of the supply chain. For years, the freight forwarding industry has been facing high levels of global competition. Accelerating this development, new and digital competitors are entering the market, striving to make freight logistics even faster, cheaper, and more predictable. Digitalization processes change traditional logistics businesses, leading to more efficient, flexible, and de-centrally organized logistics services. Sea freight operations, in particular, have the potential to better fulfill customer-specific requirements in competitive and complex environments by integrating digital technologies. Therefore, it is essential to understand how automating informational processes, such as freight brokering, affect business models in the logistics service industry. The present study qualitatively analyzed the case of FreightHub, a fourth-party logistics (4PL) sea freight agency, and compared its business model with traditional third-party logistics (3PL) business models. Applying a digital business model conceptualization, the present paper presents an extended framework for digital sea freight business models. In this line, the study contributes to theory and practice by refining business model research in the maritime transportation context, and providing managerial implications about the opportunities and threats of a digital transition in this industry.

Object: The purpose of the study is to create an open and self-sufficient market economy, where one of the main drivers should be the development of business in the formation of transport logistics. The research methodology is based on presenting the role of business in the innovative development of logistics and analyzing the dynamics of the main indicators of its development. Methods: General scientific, statistical, correlation, retrospective methods of analysis. Findings: States are counting on business as a new driver of the economy. Currently, there are many factors hindering business development. One of the most difficult problems is that most logistics enterprises do not have sufficient financial resources to meet their own investment and contractual needs. At the same time, the tendency to copy the experience of developed countries in supporting business without adapting to local conditions continues. The author has proposed a number of areas, work in which can help improve the effectiveness of business support programs in Kazakhstan. Logistics special economic zones are primarily important for the state as the basis for generating cargo flows within the country, as well as for creating an integrated network of transport and logistics complexes. Conclusions: In the context of the formation of economic growth, a model of interaction between stakeholders of a regional digital technology platform is proposed to enhance the innovative activities of businesses. The results can be used by government agencies, representatives of higher education, and the public to ensure the transition from a resource-based to an innovation-oriented economy.
