The purpose of the work is to study the development of anti-stress plastic gymnastics (APG) as a promising area of motor culture. The article reveals anti-stress plastic gymnastics – a new direction of mass health exercise. It is a holistic approach to human moral and physical health based on improving the quality of physical movement, balance of the nervous system and thinking. Gymnastics is the basis of all individual sports and physical activity. Gymnastics helps to develop kinesthetic awareness much better than any other activity. Kinesthetic awareness is the sensation of body movement. Anti-stress plastic gymnastics is a culture of movements that will replace any medication. It in coordination of physical movements and the neuropsychological device guarantees effect of increase of a tone and improvement of the general condition of an organism. Gymnastics helps to restore joint mobility, lost flexibility, the natural beauty of movement, internal balance. The method of anti-stress plastic gymnastics is specially designed to protect mental health and serves as an effective means of combating physical and mental overload and their consequences. Teachers of Lysychansk Pedagogical College, in particular L. Borisenko, conducts master classes. Developed a video of the appeal and practically showed the implementation of exercises with APG. Uses elements of APG during classes in disciplines of professionally-oriented cycle.

Introduction: Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) affect health professionals by frequent exposure to physical and mental overloads during the workday. Physiotherapy aims to promote functional health of the individual, however ergonomic conditions in their workplace are often precarious and that along with the activities and repetitive movements resisted overload the musculoskeletal system inducing damage to your physical condition. Objective: Identify the occurrence of Musculoskeletal Disorders (DMEs) in physical therapists working in public and private health services in Recife-Pernambuco, recording determinants and establishing relationship with clinical practice and the workload of the tests. Method: Observational study of physiotherapists of both genders. Peres administered questionnaire collected personal information, professional performance and DMEs Results: 41 physiotherapists; 85.4% reported DMEs, females (80.5%); 41.4% between 24-30 years; places of work, hospitals (70.7%) and clinical (63.4%); predominance of lesions in the spine and upper limbs; 65.7% changed work habits due to the occurrence of DMEs. Significant correlation between age and gender prevalence in females; since the occurrence of DMEs was not significantly correlated with time of practice, with workload, with the number of daily visits nor to rest at work. Conclusion: The volunteers showed high percentage of involvement by DMEs, especially in the spine, which seems to be related to the age and gender of the therapist. The study indicates that physical therapists are an exposed to risk for developing occupational musculoskeletal disorders profession, requiring awareness of students and professionals about proper use of the body itself, the risks of the profession in order to prevent future physical limitations.

Background Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is commonly associated with premature loss of muscle function, ankle dorsiflexion and dynamic balance. Those impairments, usually, lead to physical functionality deterioration. High-intensity interval training is an efficient and safety methodology since it prevents hypoglycemia and not requires much time, which are the main barriers for this population to practice exercise and increase physical conditioning. We hypothesized that a 6-week HIIT program performed on a cycle ergometer would increase lower limb muscle power, ankle dorsiflexion range of motion and dynamic balance without hypoglycemic situations. Methods A total of 19 diagnosed T1DM subjects were randomly assigned to HIIT group (n = 11; 6-week HIIT protocol) or Control group (n = 8; no treatment). Lower limb strength was evaluated through velocity execution in squat with three different overloads. Weight bearing lunge test (WBLT) was performed to test ankle dorsiflexion range of motion and Y-Balance test (YBT) was the test conducted to analyze dynamic balance performance. Results Velocity in squat improved a 11.3%, 9.4% and 10.1% (p < 0.05) with the 50%, 60% and 70% of their own body mass overload respectively, WBLT performance increased a 10.43% in the right limb and 15.45% in the left limb. YBT showed improvements in all directions (right limb-left limb): Anterior (4.3–6.1%), Posteromedial (1.8–5.2%) and Posterolateral (3.4–4.5%) in HIIT group (p < 0.05), unlike control group that did not experience any significant change in any of the variables (p > 0.05). Conclusion A 6-week HIIT program is safe and effective to improve execution velocity in squat movement, a fundamental skill in daily living activities, as well as ankle dorsiflexion range of motion and dynamic balance to reduce foot ulcers, risk falls and functional impairments. HIIT seems an efficient and safety training methodology not only for overcome T1DM barriers for exercising but also for improving functional capacities in T1DM people.

Background: Excessive repetitive loads are widely believed to be the cause of overload or overuse injuries. On third-generation artificial turf, impacts have been found to vary with surface and shoe properties. Mechanical devices are considered not representative for measuring impact absorption during athletic movements, and pressure insoles have been shown as inaccurate with regard to magnitude of force. Purpose: To compare impact properties between different third-generation artificial turf systems in combination with various cleat configurations in vivo using force plate technology. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: Twenty-two male soccer players (mean ± SD: age, 23.1 ± 2.8 y; height, 1.81 ± 0.1 m; body mass, 77.5 ± 6.0 kg) performed 10 short sprints, 5 straight with a sudden stop and 5 with a 90° cut, over a force plate covered with artificial turf for each combination of 3 turf systems and 3 cleat configurations. Results: During stop sprints, peak impact was significantly higher on a recreational-level turf system than professional-level turf systems with and without an underlying shock pad (3.12 body weight [ W] vs 3.01 W and 3.02 W, respectively). During cut sprints, peak impact was significantly higher with traditional round cleats than with turf cleats and bladed cleats (2.99 W vs 2.84 W and 2.87 W, respectively). Conclusion: The results indicate that both an increase in assumed impact-absorbing surface properties and a larger distribution of shorter cleats produced lower impacts during standardized athletic movements. Regardless, none of the shoe-surface combinations yielded peak impacts of an assumed hazardous magnitude. Clinical Relevance: The study provides information on the extent to which various third-generation artificial turf systems and cleat configurations affect impact force, widely believed to be a causative factor for overload and overuse injuries.

In various sectors of the economy, heavy physical labor remains a leading risk factor for injury, the development of occupational and occupational diseases, including musculoskeletal system. A signif cant proportion of pathologies are diseases of the musculoskeletal system of the shoulder girdle, leading to temporary disability, loss of working time and increased economic costs. T e use of industrial exoskeletons will increase the level of automation of production operations and is relevant in industries where the employee is an integral part of the labor process. T e introduction of industrial exoskeletons will reduce the burden of labor by optimal redistribution of load on various parts of the musculoskeletal system. T e industrial exoskeleton is an external mechanical support structure that at aches to the human body by means of cuf s and is designed to assist in performing production movements. T e most ef ective for unloading the muscles of the upper body of the employee are industrial exoskeletons aimed at holding a heavy tool and maintaining an optimal working posture. Most of the available industrial exoskeletons tested at the enterprises are passive, in the future it is necessary to develop light mobile active exoskeletons with dimensions optimal for the working space. Introduction: Resistance towing is perhaps the most specific form of developing strength and power in muscles involved directly during the start, acceleration and at maximum speed. Resisted sprint training may involve towing a sled which provides an overload through the friction between the sled and ground surface or a modern advanced training device which uses drag technology to provide fully controlled resistance during the movement, such as the 1080 Sprint. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the optimal loading for the development of power in the engine assisted drag technology system SPRINT 1080. Material and methods: We evaluated the changes in running velocity and the generated force and power during resisted sprints over 30m with a load of 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 kg. Seven male sprinters with national and international experience participated in the study. Their average age, body mass and body height were 22.2 ± 2.4 years, 77.43 ± 4.63 kg, and 178.6 ± 3.2 cm, respectively. All athletes performed six 30 m sprints with 5 min rest intervals in between. The first sprint was performed without additional resistance, while the remaining 5 were performed in an random order with additional resistance of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 kg. After receiving a verbal signal, the participant started at will from a semi crouched position. During the resisted sprint trials, the time [s] and the following variables were recorded in peak values: power output [W], generated force [N], and sprinting velocity [m/s]. Results: Our results show that loading with 6 kg decreased sprinting velocity by 9.37% while the generated horizontal power increased by 31,32%. The 6 kg loading on the Sprint 1080device corresponded to 8% body mass, yet as mentioned before the baseline results were not fully free sprinting as the tested athletes reached velocities 0.5-0.6 m/s greater without the harness. Conclusion: Taking into account this fact, our results seem to confirm previous findings, that external loads between 8 and 13% may be optimal for improving power and sprinting speed at the same time.

Objective: To describe the conservative management of a young athlete with extension-based (EB) low back pain (LBP). Background: We present the case of a 15-year-old female high school gymnast with a 4-year history of EB LBP. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a healed spondylolysis and significant atrophy with fatty infiltrate of the lumbar multifidi muscles (LMM). She had several courses of outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation that focused on core muscle strengthening (improving activation and strength of the LMM and transversus abdominus muscle in a neutral pelvic position) without long-lasting improvement. She was unable to tolerate higher levels of training or compete. Differential Diagnosis: The LMM are rich in muscle spindles and provide continuous feedback to the central nervous system about body position. Atrophy and fatty infiltrate of the LMM can compromise neuromuscular function and contribute to dysfunctional movement patterns that place a greater demand on lumbar spine structures. Ongoing motor-control impairments perpetuate nociceptive input, leading to central sensitization. Treatment: The athlete had difficulty controlling trunk extension during sport-specific activities; she moved early and to a greater extent in the lumbar spine. The aim of the treatment was to teach the athlete how to control her tendency to overload her lumbar spine when bending backward, thus reducing nociceptive input from lumbar spine structures and desensitizing the nervous system. Uniqueness: Treating EB LBP by addressing motor-control impairments and cognitive-affective factors as opposed to core strengthening. Conclusions: Activity modification, bracing, and traditional core-strengthening exercises may not be the most appropriate treatment for athletes experiencing EB LBP. Addressing cognitive-affective factors in addition to correcting maladaptive motor behavior and moving in a pain-free range reduces nociceptive input, desensitizes the nervous system, and allows athletes to gain control over their pain.

Vibration as a tool for massage and rehabilitation has been known for a long time. However, the vibration as a tool in sport workout is used very recently and is being used to increase strength, power, flexibility and coordination. It should also be noted that proper dosing of whole-body vibration plays a very important role in lymph drainage and in the treatment of overloaded joints. Improving and retaining physical fitness as well as repeating sets of exercises on one muscle group to spend as much energy resources in this muscle is important in fitness, in order to increase muscle mass and conditioning. Tonic effect of local vibrostimulation can warm up single muscle or muscle group, but also it can lead to excessive fatigue. So the aim of research is assessment of the effects of local vibrostimulation on the strength endurance for women in seated knee extension motion. Literature was analysed and an experiment was used to find out how strength endurance parameters change for 18-23 year old women after local vibration stimulation. A study was conducted with 20 women aged 18 to 23 years. For these women, control of single leg strength endurance was performed by seated leg extension movement, followed by local vibrostimulation of the quadriceps femoris muscle. This procedure was followed by a repeated strength endurance control. In this study, we found that the strength endurance parameters of the stimulated leg increased by an average of 5 repetitions during 30 seconds of control motion. We conclude that dosed local vibrostimulation sessions can increase strength endurance parameters locally for one muscle group.

Background:Objectives:To identify factors associated with pain in patients with early knee osteoarthritis fulfilling ESKOA criteria [1].Methods:50 patients (46 women (92%); 4 men (8%)) fulfilling ESKOA criteria were enrolled in the trial, every participant signed up the consent form. Median age of patients was 47 ± 8 yrs (36 – 63 yrs), body mass index (BMI) was 28.5 ± 4.9 kg/m2 (40% of patients had obesity). Every patient, after signing the standard informed consent form, was addressed to a physician, who would fill in an individual case report form (CRF), including anthropometric parameters, history of OA, comorbidities and physical examination data. Knee pain was also assessed with the use of visual analog scale (VAS). All participants underwent knee X-ray according to the standardized fixed flexion protocol with the use of positioning frame [2].Results:Most of the patients (70%) were between the ages of 35 and 50 and only 15 of them (30%) were older than 50 years. Median knee pain duration was found to be 16 (12-20) weeks, intensity of VAS – knee pain was 46 mm (42-50). Median number of episodes of knee pain (in the last 6 months) was 3 (2-6); 30 participants (60%) had episodes of knee pain lasting less than a week, 8 of them (6%) had pain lasting for around a week, 12 of them (24%) had episodes of pain lasting more than one week. In most patients (74%) pain relieved with time, without any additional therapy. Most of the patients had episodes of knee pain linked to increased overload (48 (96%)), when squatting (41 (82%)), most of the patients also reported pain when climbing up and down the stairs (80%) and short joint stiffness when starting movement (76%). Knee pain after sitting was reported in 54% of cases and 20 participants (40%) also reported some walking limitations due to knee discomfort.Knee X-ray revealed that most of the patients had I Kellgren&Lawrence (K&L) stage knee OA (picture 1). All the included participants had ESR (7 (5-10 mm/hr)) and CRP (1.24 (0.8-2.2 mg/l)) within normal range.Picture 1 – Radiological knee OA stage (K&L) distribution in the study groupIn the Spearman correlation analysis, we have estimated the factors, which may be associated with more severe pain in patients with early knee OA fulfilling the ESKOA criteria. We found out that higher BMI (r=0.38, р=0.02), presence of metabolic syndrome (r=0.37, р=0.008) and hypertension (r=0.29, р=0.04), as well as walking limitations (r=0.33, р=0.008) are associated with knee pain. Conclusion:The use of ESKOA criteria in patients with short duration of knee pain can facilitate diagnosis of osteoarthritis on an early stage. In addition, the acquired data show that timely diagnosis and correction of certain components of metabolic syndrome may be beneficial for the course of knee pain intensity in patients with early knee OA, further continuation of this trial is necessary.References:[1]Migliore A et al. Byggindustrin är idag en av våra mest olycksdrabbade branscher i Sverige sett tillantalet sysselsatta inom branschen.
The construction industry is one of our most injurious industries in Sweden today. Theaccident frequency currently lies around 11 per 1000 employees per year. Statistics showthat the construction industry has more sick leave due to accidents than other business, which of course leads to larger cost in relation to others industrial branches in this area. One way to increase the interest in safety and work environment issues in theconstruction industry can be to examine the economical aspects. It is clear that sickleave is a big cost for construction companies, but is there really any contradictionbetween profitability and safety? The purpose of this study is to investigate the connection between work environmentand profitability for companies in the construction sector. The study is carried out inorder to give an independent recommendation on which measures within workenvironment and safety that could be used to reduce the number of sick leave occasionsdue to work accidents. The idea is to investigate which accidents contribute to the mostsick days, and to see which root causes that could be associated with these accidents. The study only addresses sick leave where the underlying cause is workplace accidents. This means that occupational diseases caused by industrial hygiene conditions will notbe taken into account, this is to limit the study to the section which contributes themost to sick leave in the construction industry .The study has been conducted as an analysis of the surrounding world with theintention of gathering information and mapping out the subject. Information andstatistics in this research have, as far as possible, been based on scientifically securedliterature and government information. The report is largely based on the complieddescription of the current situation presented in chapter 4. This chapter describes thebackground and current situation for the construction industry in regards to legislation, work environment, accident statistics as well as causes and costs for sick leave in theevent of work accidents. In this report, various research has been combined to obtain a result on how much sickleave, caused by occupational accidents, costs. The costs are based on the SwedishWork Environment Authority and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s accidentstatistics as well as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s calculation basis for sickleave. In order to estimate the costs for different types of accidents, the number of sickdays for the five most common causes of injuries were picked out. It turns out that thecause of accidents that contributes to the highest costs for the employer is fall fromhight. It was also detected that according to many studies, the most efficient way toprevent fall from hight was to have a tidy workplace. Finally, it’s concluded that there are connections between work environment accidents, sick leave and costs for companies within the construction sector. There are alsomeasures that can affect sick leave, for example cleaning and information. Beyondthese, construction design is pointed out as an area where adjustments for the workenvironment can be made and though that reduce sick leave and increase profits for thecompanies.

This study focuses on evaluating a system containing five different mappings of physical movement parameters to auditory parameters. Physical parameter variables such as size, location, among others, were obtained by using a motion tracking system, where the two hands of the user would work as rigid bodies. Translating these variables to auditory parameter variables gave the ability to control different parameters of MIDI files. The aim of the study was to determine how well a total of five participants, all with prior musical knowledge and experience, could adapt to the system concerning both user generated data as well as overall user experience. The study showed that the participants developed a positive personal engagement with the system and this way of audio and music alteration. Exploring the initial mappings of the system established ideas for future development of the system in potential forthcoming work.

The human body is designed for movement. It has to move, it desires to move. Our bodies will find a way to express that desire. The way we as humans inhabit the built environment reflects our ability and desire for our bodies to move. Architecture has always been designed with that in mind, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This thesis is an investigation to reveal the various ways the human body moves in the built environment and how architecture and design can accommodate or dictate human movement. The thesis project of a physical therapy facility on an existing park in Washington, D.C. alludes to the opportunities for varying movements of the body. It also provides an extensive program that largely posits a myriad of relationships between the varying functions of architectural space and human movements.

This thesis deals with questions about the built environment in relation to the education of the body. The purpose of the thesis is to illustrate and discuss prerequisites for physical literacy and education in school gymnasiums. The aim of the study was to examine how discourses about body and body movement are related to questions about knowledge and education within physical education in school (PE). Using discourse analysis I explore how discursive practices such as rooms and talk produce, reproduce and change discourses about body, movement and knowledge. The discursive practices that I have focused on are the designing of rooms for physical education as well as PE teachers’ ways of expressing themselves regarding these kinds of rooms. The empirical material that has been analyzed consists of rooms used for physical education, interviews with PE teachers and text material from a journal for PE teachers. The results of the analysis suggest that some discourses can be described as strong and/or dominant and some as weaker. One example is the dominant discourse about body movement as competition and performance. Another example is the strong, although not dominant discourse about body movement as practice within which the body is (re)produced as a learning body. A third one is the weak discourse about movement as experiencing one’s body. One of the conclusions of the study is that a more open design of rooms for physical education would enhance the possibilities for the practice discourse and the experience discourse to grow stronger, which would be desirable considering the emphasis on learning and positive experiences of body movement in the syllabus for PE. Another conclusion is that if the practice discourse would be more clearly materialized in the gymnasiums, it could mean that other discursive practices too such as teachers’ and pupils’ speech acts and body acts within PE could change more easily.

Bodydialogue is a coherent and simple system of exercises, rehearsal techniques, principles and aesthetic values which in application enhance the actor's ability to physicalise dramatic action and behaviour. It can be applied directly within a rehearsal process to heighten the physical life of a play or performance event, or it can be taught separately as a system for providing student actors with concrete skills in movement, stagecraft and physical characterisation. Unlike many other movement systems taught in drama schools, such as Mime, Dance, Acrobatics or Alexander, which are grounded in their own discipline base, Bodydialogue is grounded in Stanislavsky's Acting through the Method of Physical Action, and as such is centered in the discipline of text-based Acting. It is thus first and foremost an approach to Acting via Physical Action and Physical Behaviour, rather than a study of Movement, or a movement genre. This thesis describes the development and application of Bodydialogue physicalisation techniques to a workshop production of miss julie downunder - an adaptation of Strindberg's Miss Julie - and situates the place of these techniques within contemporary Acting discourse.

The overall aim of this study is to analyze how the body is understood in the compulsory school subject physical education during the period 1976-2002. With pragmatism as the point of departure the texts of curricula, syllabi and articles from the physical education teacher's specialist press are analyzed. The analytical tools used are two perspectives of the body and human movement, one based on dualistic ideas and the other on Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology of the lived body. The analysis shows that there are differences in how the embodied person is understood in three different types of text. In the curricula the dualistic ideas where the individual is seperated into body and soul prevail. The picture is more complex in the syllabi whilst in the articles from the specialist press the lived body is found more often. In the articles from the specialist press there is a pattern that shows change over time where phenomenological ideas are more prominent towards the end of the period studied. The dissertation consists of three parts. In the first part there is an introduction to the study and theoretical perspectives are introduced, the second part consists of the analysis of the texts and in the third part these are discussed and possible didactic consequences presented.

Abstract: This is a presentation and description of a corporal work technique which is entered in the universe of the somatic education in which the current conception is discussed, including that which concerns the rescue of the individual as a social being. The speech's development explores information in this universe, and manifest themselves in the dialogues between the look of health sciences, art and pedagogy that pervades the entire work. This discussion is based on the body's reality undergone an anatomical, physical, and historical process that determine their movement as an individual, based on what is possible to rescue from these wholes in construction of proposed actions that are in a body technique called: Dynamic Postural Reorganization.

Annotation:
Musculoskeletal disorders are the major cause for incapacity for work in the Ger-man production industry. Accordingly, ergonomic work processes are particularly important in order to protect the health of employees and to reduce the high follow-up costs for companies and society. Therefore, on the one hand, it is necessary to make workplaces more ergonomic (so-called organisational prevention). On the other hand, employees need to be trained how to carry out work processes as ergonomically as possible and thus optimise their individual behav-iour at the workplace (so-called behavioural prevention). The article presents a learning assistance system for ergonomic be-havioural prevention in production that uses modern motion capture systems to record and analyse the movements of employees. With the help of digital human models, it is possible to visualise overload on the body comprehensively. The learning assistance system ena-bles the employee to perform two primary analyses: A capability analysis allows to measure and assess a worker’s individ-ual mobility with 14 standardised movement exercises and to esti-mate his or her strength with a grip strength measurement. The as-sessment of the results strengthens health literacy in the way that the worker becomes aware of possible physical limitations and can initiate general countermeasures, such as strength or mobility train-ing. An analysis of the specific work processes at the workplace makes it possible to record the workplace-induced stress of a worker and compare it with the worker’s capabilities. This comparison leads to the workplace-specific strain and shows which movements are par-ticularly critical for the health of the individual worker. It enables the worker to recognise the critical work processes and postures of his or her work spectrum, to initiate work-specific measures to in-crease the capabilities and to ergonomically improve the working posture. The latter is the main purpose of the learning assistance system. The use of a motion capture system permits to repeat critical work steps effortlessly in order to show the effect of a more ergo-nomic working posture. These short learning cycles can be repeated until the strain is not critical anymore.

This chapter focuses on the rise of new forms of cultural mobility in the postapartheid city, particularly, the rise of the kombi taxi and its massive sound system as the most striking innovation in the urban landscape. While the private taxi industry has been at the center of much violence and criminal networks, it has also been important in providing new forms of agile physical mobility across the fixed boundaries in the city. More importantly, the taxis have also been the vehicles and symbols of a new type of music and youth culture that begins to cut across boundaries of class and race. The chapter explores the particular form of taxi industry in Chatsworth and looks at the wider phenomenon of the new sonic taste alliances forged by kwaito and other forms of urban music after apartheid.

While exercise is often thought of as a means to maintain and improve the body, there is potential to revolutionize the exercise experience as one that supports embodiment and mindful physical movement. The first part of this chapter explores how to transform traditional exercise spaces (i.e., fitness centers, weight rooms, competitive sport environments) into places that encourage positive embodiment. Special attention is paid to ways sport leaders can create climates that focus on process, experience, and mindfulness, as well as ways traditional exercise spaces can enhance self-care, size inclusivity, and intuitive exercise. The second part of this chapter provides examples of how nontraditional exercise practices (i.e., dance, Zumba, functional fitness) can serve as innovative means to enable positive embodiment experiences through mindful movement. Last, the utilization of social media as a space to share positive exercise experiences that promote body acceptance and body inclusivity is discussed.

Nano Magnetic Particles drug delivery is a new method of cancer treatment targeting the replacement of current methods such as chemotherapy and radiation to increase the efficiency of treatment. This project aims to design a system including experimental setup and computational platforms that will work parallel to each other developing guidelines for scientists. The Computational platform is able to model the nano particle’s aggregations and movement. Experimental setup will be used to generate results validating the simulations done on the computational platform. Experimental setup has the potential to operate Magnetic nanoparticles drug delivery in different scale and situations. We aim to make the experimental setup as close as possible to human blood properties. This will enable us to come up with guiding trajectories and control algorithms for guidance of different size and shape nano particles in arbitrary capillary shapes. This data can be beneficial for researchers doing experiments on magnetic drug delivery and avoid the In vivo experiments for the sake of animal rights. We present software called MAGNASIM that is being developed to perform simulation, visualization and post-processing analysis of the aggregation and disaggregation processes of magnetic Nano/Micro particles within a fluid environment such as small arteries and arterioles or fluid-filled cavities of the human body. Basically the software would be able: • To examine Self-assembly process and breakup process • To provide design guidelines for fabricating, control and steering the nanocapsules After gathering all the initial conditions, software is able to provide the user the following information: • Forces on each particle in each time-step. • Position of each particle in each time-step. • Interactions between particles. • Control and steer the particles to the considered destination. • Providing visualization of the particles movement.

The Spatial Audio Data Immersive Experience (SADIE) project aims to identify new foundational relationships pertaining to hu-man spatial aural perception, and to validate existing relation-ships. Our infrastructure consists of an intuitive interaction in-terface, an immersive exocentric sonification environment, and a layer-based amplitude-panning algorithm. Here we highlight the system’s unique capabilities and provide findings from an initial externally funded study that focuses on the assessment of human aural spatial perception capacity. When compared to the existing body of literature focusing on egocentric spatial perception, our data show that an immersive exocentric environment enhances spatial perception, and that the physical implementation using high density loudspeaker arrays enables significantly improved spatial perception accuracy relative to the egocentric and virtual binaural approaches. The preliminary observations suggest that human spatial aural perception capacity in real-world-like immersive exocentric environments that allow for head and body movement is significantly greater than in egocentric scenarios where head and body movement is restricted. Therefore, in the design of immersive auditory displays, the use of immersive exocentric environments is advised. Further, our data identify a significant gap between physical and virtual human spatial aural perception accuracy, which suggests that further development of virtual aural immersion may be necessary before such an approach may be seen as a viable alternative.

In this paper, an innovative technique was tested to solve the path-planning problem of swarm nanorobots’ navigation within the human environment. Blood elements were treated as obstacles to nanorobot movement. Blood flow was also factored into the movement problem, as was the environment’s physical properties, including blood viscosity and density, both of which can potentially affect nanorobot behavior. To account for all these considerations in a human body environment, two algorithms were combined, yielding a single algorithm responsible for the self-organized control of nanorobots to avoid obstacles during their movement trajectory. The technique is based on modification of the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm, referred to as the MPSO algorithm which is classified as a swarm intelligence algorithm, and modification of the Obstacle Avoidance Algorithm, referred to as the MOA algorithm. The proposed MPSO algorithm generated the best locations in a given operational area enabling nanorobots to detect the target areas. The proposed MOA algorithm allowed nanorobots to efficiently avoid collision with blood elements. The simulation results show that the combined MPSO-MOA algorithm safely routes all nanorobots past blood elements while navigating within the human body.
