Throughout in the history, women have been made significant contribution towards the growth, development and sustainability of human society as a whole. Women constitute almost half of the population in the world. However, their enjoyment of rights equally with that of men is far from satisfactory. In every society from ancient to modern times, women are considered as the property of men to serve their interest in both society and domestic front. The position of women always plays a significant role in the growth and development of any society in the world. Assam is a land of numerous tribes having different ethnic and linguistic background since the time immemorial. Among them, the Bodo/Boro are numerically and sociologically one of the most important aboriginal tribes in Assam. Role of Bodo women were confined to her being a wife and a mother as has been depicted in the inscriptions. Yet the historiography on that period confined the study the Status of Bodo women in her society in a various concern areas. The paper is made a humble attempt to highlight the importance of the status of Bodo women or their normal position in the field of socio-cultural, economic, and religious perceptions in the society in the colonial period.

This study aims to examine the philosophical perspective of the Bodo shirt as one of the traditional clothes of South Sulawesi, which will be applied in the regulations for the use of traditional clothes in schools in Makassar City. This is based on the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 50 of 2022 concerning School Uniforms for Students at the Elementary and Secondary Education Levels. This study used a qualitative approach with an ethnomethodological research design. Data analysis used indexicality analysis and reflexivity analysis. This analysis is intended to provide an overview of group agreement regarding the use of Baju Bodo in elementary school policies as one of the local cultural assets as well as the implementation of ethno-policies for cultural literacy. Determination of informants was carried out by means of purposive sampling, namely researchers who determine the informants themselves to be interviewed based on representative considerations. The informants in this study included teachers, school principals, and community leaders who knew about the philosophy of the Baju Bodo and the color schemes used in the use of Baju Bodo for the Bugis people of South Sulawesi. The results of the study show that in a philosophical study the structure of the baju bodo represents the characteristics of Bugis-Makassar women in general. The distribution of colors in Baju Bodo is divided into two types, the first is in everyday life, such as children under the age of 10 wearing Baju Bodo which are usually called Waju Pella-Pella, this shirt is Ivory Yellow. This shirt is called waju pella-pella or butterfly because it depicts the world of small children who are full of joy. The yellow color of ivory is an analogy for the child to mature quickly and be ready to face life's challenges. Derived from the word maridi (ivory yellow) which means ripe.

Land rights to women is one of the significant markers of a gender-just society. It is a basic human right that provides welfare, economic and social security, strong bargaining power and various other benefits. Ownership right over land is also critical to the citizens in terms of exercising and availing rights guaranteed by the state. Based on a narrative from the fieldwork done among the Bodos in Assam, this paper explores the significance of land rights in accessing various rights and welfare programmes and how women are affected in this regard due to lack of land rights. It discusses how a woman’s lack of rights over land can lead to a status of homelessness and place her in a socially and economically precarious position. The landlessness or homelessness status restricts her from accessing various benefits provided by the state. In this context, the paper also looks into the social construction of gendered norms on land rights of the Bodo community. Construction of societal norms on individual’s rights over landed property, inheritance are generally determined by kinship and affinal ideologies of a community. Such norms are often gendered that deny rights to women over this material resource. The most affected are the single, widow and separated women who have no support from the families. Communities having patriarchal ideologies consider women as passive, dependent and secondary subject and accordingly, gendered norms are constructed. Even the state apparatuses, which is often male-dominated, locate woman within the realm of the family and design policies for women as ‘beneficiaries’ and ‘dependents.’ The gendered norms on land rights of a community have a broader impact that goes beyond the community level and enmeshed with the affairs of the state.

Women entrepreneurship is gaining importance all over the world for addressing the development issues of women. Since the inception of the five-year plans, the Government of India has been giving attention towards mitigating the development issues of women such as labour force participation, empowerment, education and gender inequality. Women-owned micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are contributing significantly towards the economic development of the nation through employment and income generation, poverty eradication, and by bringing entrepreneurial diversity in the economic activities. The handloom industry offers an appropriate setting to analyse the significance of the rural women-owned micro-enterprises towards local economic development. With archaic hand-operated looms, the production mechanism takes place mostly in the rural areas. The present article analyses the factors that affect tribal women to own a handloom micro-enterprise. It is based on primary data collected at firm level from two major tribes in Assam, namely Bodo and Mising. The data were collected from five different districts in Assam where tribal communities are operating handloom businesses. Within the framework of random utility model of economic choice, the findings of the probit model show that age, knowing other handloom micro-entrepreneurs, past history of family business, access to borrowing and risk-taking behaviour have significant and positive influences on the decision of a woman in becoming a handloom micro-entrepreneur. The study suggests for an all-inclusive policy approach for the overall development of handloom industry in the tribal areas.

The issue of Bangladeshi illegal migration has troubled the state of Assam for decades. The lack of authentic data on illegal migrant flows only adds to the discomfort. The illegal Bangladeshi migrants issue tends to dominate the political, economic and social discourses in Assam. The lack of data on migration adds to a sense of being „under siege‟ by outsiders as no one is sure as to the number of migrants visibly infiltrating all walks of life in Assam. The recent disturbances in Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts of Assam have once again brought the issue of ethnic clash between Muslim and Bodo communities. There is no evidence to suggest that the latest violence is a direct consequence of illegal immigration. The clash between Muslims and Bodos is often misinterpreted as a clash between illegal Bangladeshis and indigenous people. This clash is due to the political and communal conspiracy created by some fundamentalists and political leaders to gain their political mileage. As a consequence, a large number of innocent men, women and children lost their lives. This has certainly pushed back the development issues of the state and destroyed the fraternity between the two communities. This paper will try to examine that the recent clashes in Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts are not due to the problem of migration but the fears of losing land and identities connected with land.

Adolescence is a time of self-identification and self-development. The view of oneself that had developed in childhood strengthened in adolescence. This is in line with increasing age and life experience based on the facts experienced. All that makes teenagers can judge themselves good, and also vice versa, less good. Teenagers tend to look at the social media profiles of other teenagers and make comparisons with themselves. This comparison will unconsciously form an ideal self-concept whose standards are getting higher and further away from the self-concept possessed by adolescents today. Teenagers who get negative feedback from social media will find it difficult to accept themselves. There is always an assumption that other people around him will look negatively towards him. The question in this study is "What is the representation of the self-concept of young women readers of the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck?". The results based on this study explain that self-concept in adolescent girls after reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ckis represented as a person who needs to direct himself towards self-help and self-love by realizing how good or bad the situation is owned and how obliged to behave against the situation. The representation of self-help and self-love in the self-concept of the reader is depicted using trying not to think about the affairs of others and focus more on oneself, controlling oneself, accepting and trying to solve cases of life in a cruel global world, and knowing what important are priorities.

Annotation:
Criticism that involves the linkage of the terms ‘environment’ and ‘literature’, or ‘ecocriticism’, has focused largely on texts such as nature writing or on fiction that is set in rural or wilderness settings. This project attempts to widen the scope of ecocriticism by analysing the contemporary British novel, in which nature conceived in such stereotypical ways is largely absent. However, in my analysis of the fifteen texts selected here, I demonstrate that British women writers employ new discursive constructions of nature in order to contest deterministic formulations that subjugate both women and nature. My focus on female textual bodies enables me to explore representations of the fluid interfaces of nature and culture. In my analysis of novels from an environmental standpoint, `environment' is reconceived to refer to `where we live, work, and play' and may include not only the countryside and urban nature, but also the female body itself. Thus, the nature of my title is an inclusive term that includes contemporary discourses of nature employed by the sciences of biomedicine, genetics and technology. This project examines the ecofeminist premise that discourses of mastery not only affect subjugated others such as women, animals and others, but also influence the treatment of the natural environment. Analysing novels that employ forms of embodiment that foreground extreme bodily conditions such as pregnancy, monstrosity and death, I employ the theoretical constructs of Mikhail Bakhtin (the grotesque body, carnivalisation and dialogism) and Julia Kristeva's notion of abjection as tools of analysis to provide a new conception of ecological bodies. Novelists such as Jeanette Winterson, Fay Weldon, Penelope Lively, Zadie Smith, Margaret Drabble, Kathy Lette and Eva Figes provide a wide range of viewpoints from which to gather evidence of the insistence of the recurring trope of the endangered body within the troubled landscape of contemporary Britain.

The multi-semiotic representations enacted by advertising disclose the world views in and through which it is created and consumed. Messages of gender promoting female body insecurity are strategically explored in advertisements to support diverse branches of body alteration industry including pharmaceutics. Thus, a discursive-semiotic content analysis of the national version of a 30-second television advertisement for Xenical, a prescription weight-management drug, is developed with a focus on the multimodal aspects of the dynamic displays of meaning-making resources. The key objective of this study is to carry out a critical examination of discursive-semiotic construction of gender identities, social relations and representations on the basis of the contextual and textual features of the film text. The dynamic unfolding of the images constituting the TV advertisement is based on a model of multimodal transcription of film genre proposed by Baldry & Thibault (2006) in which the visual configuration is divided into phases and organized according to the chronological sequence of the film and then aligned with its verbal information. At the micro level of visual analysis, the representational, interactional and compositional meanings of each shot are taken into account in line with the multimodal semiotic approach proposed by Kress and van Leeuven (1996; 2006). Similarly, the lexicogrammatical analysis of the verbal information/ utterances in the film is carried out in line with the tri-functional conceptualization of meaning proposed by Halliday (1994) and Halliday & Mathiessen, (2004). At the macro level, the contextual features are analyzed drawing upon principles of critical discourse analysis (Fairclough, 2003). The complex metafunctional interpretation of the structures of meaning indicates how visual and verbal meaning-making resources are expertly combined in order to produce, maintain and sustain ideological gender messages reinforcing social inequalities.

Objective: Getting back to regular physical activity soon after completing the treatment for breast cancer may be a challenge for most women. To assess the impact of physical exercise on physical fitness and body composition in women who have completed breast cancer treatment, we designed a personalized program of physical exercises, considering their individual basal physical activity levels. Methods: The prospective study included 107 women aged 18–60 years shortly after curative treatment for localized breast cancer. All participants were evaluated for cardiovascular morbidities, body composition, and exercise performance. After careful physical evaluation by a personal physical trainer, each woman was individually oriented on how to perform each exercise correctly and follow the program of nonsupervised exercises on their own at home, either indoor or outdoor. Women were motivated to adhere to personalized aerobic exercises, localized muscular strength/resistance, and flexibility exercises, considering individual capabilities and limitations. Evaluations including body composition, VO2max, and localized muscle resistance were performed preintervention (basal) and after 6 and 9 months of intervention. Results: Among all, 25.23% and 44.85% were fat or overweight, respectively, at the study entrance, and 21.49% reported doing physical exercise regularly; 78 women adhered to the training program (72.8%), and 29 chose not to adhere (27.2%). After 9 months of regular and individualized intervention, adherent women showed significantly better results in all variables of body composition and physical fitness: body mass (-4.38±3.67 kg; p0.05), as well as it was not influenced by breast cancer characteristics (e.g., histology, stage, and molecular subtypes) or treatment (e.g., mastectomy, axillary surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy) (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our study reinforces that women in follow-up after breast cancer, regardless of body fatness or fitness, can adopt lifestyle measures to prevent a recurrence, and medical societies should include recommendations to promote physical activity early during surveillance.

ABSTRACT Background: Hormonal contraception is still a popular contraceptive method for most women. More than six million women worldwide use the injectable hormonal contraceptive method. The hormones estrogen and progesterone contained in hormonal birth control can affect the increase of sodium and fluids. This will affect the fat layer and appetite which will cause weight gain, thus impacting body mass index (BMI). This study aimed to determine the effect of hormonal contraception on BMI. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Ngampel village, Mojoroto District, Kediri, East Java, in June – July 2019. The total of 30 women in reproductive age were selected using purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was the use of hormonal contraception. the dependent variable was BMI. The data were collected by questionnaire then analyzed using Chi Square test. Results: The use of hormonal contraception was increased the BMI among women in reproductive age. Conclusion: The use of hormonal contraception can give an effect on BMI. Sometimes, woman body should be given the opportunity to rest using non-hormonal birth control. A parametric anthropometric model of a pregnant woman has been produced for use in crash protection research. The model is based on anthropometric measurements of pregnant women, with the initial model representing a 5th percentile woman in her 30th week of gestation. The model has been developed to be easily scaleable so women of different sizes can be modeled and adapted to simulate any stage of pregnancy. Previous research has simply added an enlarged abdomen to existing females models. However the model presented describes a comprehensive depiction of the altered pregnant form by incoporating the anthropometry of the entire body. This paper presents the pregnant occupant model for use in evaluation of safety systems and vehicle interiors. This work is the first step toward a computational pregnant occupant for crash protection research, capable of simulating dynamic impact response and predicting injury risk in automobile crashes.

Introduction: A woman faces changes in several areas during pregnancy. The most obvious changes involve her body, but also her attitude toward her environment and her role in it. For women who have experienced sexual abuse in childhood, this change may be more difficult to accept than for women who have not. It may also be more difficult for them to cope with the impending birth, the challenges of motherhood, and more frequent treatment by health professionals, including skilled midwives. Methods: We used the descriptive psychological-phenomenological research method. The study included those women who met the established criteria. The main research question was how women who experienced childhood sexual abuse experience pregnancy, childbirth, and midwifery and what challenges they face. Results: Although the research findings cannot be generalized to the entire population, we can use the research findings to gain a deeper understanding and insight into how women who have experienced sexual abuse experience pregnancy, birth, motherhood, and midwifery care. Discussion and conclusion: Due to the number of participants, the results cannot be generalized to the entire population. The results can serve as a guide for further research and information on this topic.

In Algeria and many other developing countries, many women do domestic work (weaving, cleaning, washing, ironing, cooking, caring, children the elderly, and persons with disabilities, etc.) in their homes. From domestic work, we refer to carpet weaving. This work is done in most Algerian cities. It is a job that women do at home. They do it while sitting for hours. Researchers show that domestic work require great effort. In addition, it is tiring and strenuous and may have negative effects on body. In this research, the focus will be on carpet weaving in the Southwestern Algeria (the Fatis carpet). Fatis carpet is named after the Fatis Palace (town), located in Tinrkuk area, in the province of Timimoun. (Algeria). This research, aims is to answer the following questions:1.What is the posture adopted while weaving the Fatis carpet?2.What are the body parts where may feel pain at work?3.Are there differences between the highly experienced (10 years and more) and the less experienced (05 years and less) knitters?Method: Researchers used the descriptive survey method, where they observe the Fatis woman as she makes the carpet, and after observing her for a sufficient period, she is presented with a set of questions (the PLIBEL questionnaire) to answer. The sample was (12) women with a mean age of 32.83 years, and an SD of 10.83 years. Tools: Data was collected through observation and PLIBEL Form (questionnaire). Results: This research aims to answer the following questions:1.What is the posture adopted while weaving the Fatis carpet? It has been found that women adopt the sitting crossed-legged working posture while knitting the carpet. The majority of women sit in the workstation for hours. They change it when they leave the work. 2.What are the body parts where may feel pain at work? It has been found that all parts of the body specified in the PLIBEL form (neck/shoulders and upper part of back; Elbows, forearms, and hands; feet; knees and hips; low back) are affected. However, the extent of the impact varied. The knees and hips were affected more than the rest of the other regions.3.Are there differences between the highly experienced (10 years and more) and the less experienced (05 years and less) knitters? It turns out that those with less experience suffer less than those with more experience.Discussion: The results will be discussed in light of the principles of cultural ergonomics. In various situations, it is necessary to resolve the contradiction that appears between the principles of ergonomics and what people are accustomed to and what they carry in terms of social trends by virtue of the societies and cultures to which they belong. Conclusion: This research shed light on the work of women in the textile industry. It was found that women adopt a work posture that needs discussion. It is a research that contributes to the development of social and cultural ergonomics

Wireless Body Area Networks, also known as the Wireless Body Sensor Networks, provides the monitoring of the health parameters in remote areas and where the medical facility is not available. Wireless Body Sensor Networks contains the body or placement of the sensors on body for measuring the medical and non-medical parameters. These networks share the wireless medium for the transmission of the data from one place to another. So the design of Medium Access Control is a challenging task for the WBSNs due to wireless media for less energy consumption and mobility. Various MAC protocols are designed to provide less energy consumption and improve the network lifetime. This paper presents the study of these existing MAC layer protocols based on different QoS parameters that define the network quality.

Review question / Objective: The purpose of this study is to present a synthesis of knowledge about the effects of bariatric surgery on the body image of women after surgical intervention. Condition being studied: Along with the increase in obesity rates, the number of surgical procedures for its treatment is also growing. While for healthcare professionals, the main indicator of success of bariatric surgery is weight loss and the control/remission of comorbidities associated with obesity, for those who undergo such intervention, their expectations go beyond that, as excess wight has affected their psychosocial spheres, generating disorders of body image, low self-esteem, anxiety, eating disorders, isolations, among others. Therefore, evaluating the effect of bariatric surgery on body image is a key factor in determining the success of surgery from the user’s perspective. It is necessary to have synthesis of knowledge considering sociocultural difference, objective measurement through instruments to incorporate them into long-term clinical follow-up.
