Color filters enable photosensors to obtain spectral composition of incoming radiation, be it to mimic human vision or to separate analytical signals. Efforts to increase the resolution of these photosensors lead to decrease in size of individual picture elements – pixels, which places increasing demands on the color filter technology. Conventional color filters operating on the principle of absorption of light in organic pigments are frequently used, but they are no longer meeting growing requirements of increasing sensor resolution. Here, metasurfaces comes to an aid, utilizing nanostructures to separate colors and thus creating structural coloration. There are many approaches to separate colors using metasurfaces, but each carries certain disadvantages with their principle of operation. In this thesis, we present a novel approach to separate colors which utilizes manipulation of radiation polarization. The presented color filter is first modeled and optimizes through numerical simulations and then manufactured using nanofabrication methods. Finally, the optical response of nanostructures is verified by several optical spectroscopy methods.

Annotation:
This project deals with automatic recognition of facial expression in colour pictures. At first, the colour-based face detection is accomplished, three colour spaces are used: RGB, HSV and YCbcCr. As next, the pictures are automatically cropped so that only the face region is present. It is accomplished by computing the borders of the face region based on knowledge of position of eyes, nose and mouth. From the face region, the feature vector is obtained using a bank of Gabor filters. The project introduces two different kinds of Gabor filters and proposes a new bank of filters. The feature vector is used as an input to the neural network. The neural network was trained on a set of pictures from AR database created for facial expression recognition. The output of the network is the facial expression the input picture was assigned to. This project mentions the testing for different settings of the neural network and presents and discuss the recognition results of the network.

This project informs about the basic image processing on grayscale and binary images. The project deals with analyzing the data obtained. Acquaints with terms such as morphology and image segmentation. Acquired knowledge is applied to create a program to complete the processing of microscopic images in LabView programming environment with subsequent analysis and plotting of results into image. For a better idea supporting data about operation in progress are continuous images.

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the recognition of road signs in the video sequence. Such systems increase the traffic safety and are implemented by major car factories in the manufactured cars (Opel, BMW). First, the motivation for the utilisation of these systems is presented, followed by the survey of the current state of the art methods. Finally, a specific road-sign detection method is chosen and described in detail. The method uses advanced techniques of signal processing. Segmentation method in color space is used for sign detection and subsequent classification is accomplished by linear classification with optional use of PCA method. In addition, the method contains the prediction of road sign positions based on Kalman filtering. Implemented system yields relatively accurate results and overall analysis and discussion is enclosed.

This thesis inquires the existing methods on the field of image recognition with regards to gesture recognition. Some methods have been chosen for deeper study and these are to be discussed later on. The second part goes in for the concenpt of an algorithm that would be able of robust gesture recognition based on data acquired within the AMI and M4 projects. A new ways to achieve precise information on participants position are suggested along with dynamic data processing approaches toward recognition. As an alternative, recognition using Gaussian Mixture Models and periodicity analysis are brought in. The gesture class in focus are speech supporting gestures. The last part demonstrates the results and discusses future work.

Annotation:
The project is focused on face detection in video. Firstly, it contains a summary of basic color models. Secondly, you can find the description and comparison of the basic methods for detection of human skin with a practical example of implementation of parametric detector. Thirdly, a theoretical basis for face detection and face tracking in a video containing a list of basic concepts and methods of this issue follows. Greater emphasis is placed on the description of machine learning algorithm AdaBoost and description of the possible application of the Kalman filter for the purpose of face tracking. Design, implementation and testing of library accomplished within the master thesis are listed in the final part of this thesis.

This thesis describes the principles of making application which is able to set and control camera. The first part describes basic camera connections and it explains definition and specification of camera’s features. The second part of my thesis describes implementation of application, which can use more cameras to image preview, image acquisition and to simply set of camera’s features. To implement the applications we can use MATLAB and C++BUILDER uses opencv libraries.
