Infographics have the capability to organize and display information in a way that is easy for viewers to retrieve and make observations. While infographics have been successful in various fields, their potential benefits in composition writing have not been explored. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the perspectives of Iraqi EFL students who used infographics as an educational technology tool in composition writing, and to identify how gender influences students’ performance when using infographics in EFL writing classes. The significance of this study lies in its integration of infographics as an educational technology tool for teaching writing, aligning with the current trend of technology integration in education and meeting the demands of the 21st century. A pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires have been used to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of 28 close-ended items structured on a Likert rating scale, with responses ranging from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree. The responses were analyzed using Google Sheets and SPSS software for quantitative analysis. The conclusions indicate that a significant proportion of students consider using infographics to promote cooperative learning and teamwork. Furthermore, these results showed significant gender differences, with female students using infographics more frequently than male students. This demonstrates the substantial interest among women in utilizing technology in learning, highlighting the potential for investment in English language skills development and educational technology. Finally, it is recommended to incorporate infographics into teaching practices across disciplines to enhance students’ learning experiences and foster essential skills required in the 21st century.

Abstract This study aimed to isolate the causal agent of white mold on eggplant caused by the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and it was examined microscopically and molecularly. The pathogenicity of 16 isolates of the pathogenic fungus was evaluated from soil and plant residues, eggplant and cucumber plants (ScE1– ScE8) and (ScC1 – ScC8), respectively, from fields in different areas of Baghdad governorate of Baghdad (Abi Ghraib/Zidan, Al-Yusufiyah, Mada’in/Tuwaitha and Jadiriyah / University of Baghdad). The results of testing the pathogenicity of isolates of the pathogenic fungus showed that all isolates had a significant effect in reducing the percentage of seed germination compared to the control treatment in which the germination rate was 100%. The isolate ScE2 isolated from eggplant plants significantly outperformed the rest of the isolates, followed by isolates ScE1, ScC2, ScE3, ScE4, ScE2 and ScE5, followed by the rest of the isolates with a significant effect, the percentage of germination for the rest of the isolates ranged between 20-30%. The identificationof the two most pathogenic isolates was confirmed by PCR technology on eggplant and cucumber based on the ITS1 and ITS4 gene. The two isolates were deposited in (NCBI) under accession numbers MZ424307 and MZ424308.

Cordova is one of the cities that became the center of the development of Islamic knowledge in the West during the reign of the Umayyah Dynasty II in Andalusia (now known as Muslim Spain). During the reign of ʿAbdu Al-Rahmān Al-Nāṣir, Cordova became the most cultured city in Europe, and together with Constantinople and Baghdad, became one of the three cultural centers in the world. This paper aims to describe the intellectual development and knowledge of Islam in Cordova during the Caliph ʿAbdu Al-Rahmān Al-Nāṣir, the Umayyah Dynasty. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis with a historical approach. This method is a process of critically examining and analyzing past records and relics in the form of written text. The results of the literary analysis carried out show that Cordova has made progress in science and culture since it was ruled by the Amirs of Umayyah descent who stood alone apart from the power of the Abbasids in Baghdad. The triumph of Islamic science in Andalusia is very large in Europe, both in science, science, fiqh, language, and literature. The triumph of Islam and intellectual and scientific development to be seen since the Umayyah Dynasty Caliph ʿAbdu Al-Rahmān Al-Nāṣir. Islamic education materials that develop and expand are the Qur'an, theology, Arabic grammar, poetry, lexicography, history, and geography. ʿAbdu Al-Rahmān Al-Nāṣir built a university and developed a library. The University of Cordova stands majestically and becomes an icon of Andalusia so that Andalusia is famous throughout Europe. This university stands upright with the Abdurrahman III Mosque, which in the end developed into a famous higher education equivalent to Al Azhar University in Cairo and Nizamiyah University in Baghdad. Another institution that is the center of scientific civilization and intellectual development is the library. The library is provided for the wider community as a means of learning science. The development of books also increased after the discovery of paper technology in the Islamic world.

The use of the stand-alone PV systems for electric power generation is important to meet the needs of electric power, especially in countries that have major problems in the generation and continuity of electricity such as Iraq. The aim of this research is to design and simulate a stand-alone PV system installed on the roof of the parking garage in the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University for the purpose of using the electrical energy generated by this system to meet the energy demand of the daily light for the parking garage and engineering laboratories buildings beside it.
The main factor in the design was the total area of the roof of the parking garage. The Pvsyst6 program is used to simulate the suggested PV system and to determine the effect of partial shading which caused by the trees surrounding the garage on the available generated power of the system. A comparison was made between four types of solar panels to see the suitability of these types to the weather conditions in Iraq, in addition to the impact of the shadows surrounding the garage. These types of solar panels were (CIS SL2-145, CdTe F-4112-3, Poly JAP6-60-260, and Mono JAM6-60-260), CdTe type showed better performance compared to other types in terms of available energy generated because it has small losses due to temperature and shadows. It was found that the best tilt angle of the solar panels in the case of shadows is 19o to the south. Finally, the financial analysis was made to see the economic feasibility of this PV system and it is found that the PV system that uses CdTe panels has the smallest kWh unit price (0.236 $/kWh) as compared with the other three types.

Education and learning in the scholarly Hawza is an old one that dates back to the era of prophecy and the final message, and one of its most prominent features is its time extension, and the predominance of micro-education over the rest of the types of education, taking mosques as a place for it, then progressed and became in line with formal education in innovation, technology, and the diversity of the curriculum. It also collects the six official academic stages (elementary, intermediate, preparatory, elementary university studies, postgraduate university studies in its master's and doctoral levels) in three stages (introductions - surfaces - diligence). The researcher reviewed the methods and methods of seminary teaching and learning in its most famous cities, from Makkah and Madinah, through Baghdad and Najaf, to Isfahan and Khorasan, in addition to the curricula and schools that included males and females.

Education around the world has been negatively affected by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Many institutions had to transition to distance learning in compliance with the enforced safety measures. Distance learning might work well for settings with stable internet connections, professional technical teams, and basic implementation of technology in education. In contrast, distance learning faces serious challenges in less fortunate settings with inferior infrastructure. This report aims to shed light on the immediate action steps taken at a leading pharmacy school in Iraq to accommodate for the enforced changes in pharmacy education. The University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy went from less than minimal technology implementation to full distance learning in a remarkable time frame. Pharmacy students were able to finish academic year requirements and move on with the program. Final year students will graduate on time as competent pharmacists.

The study aims to clarify the role of other sources of funding in the educational institutions in 2021 by finding alternatives that contribute to meeting some of the expenses of educational institutions due to a decrease in the financial allocation by the state observed in the recent years with regard to the circumstances that Iraq is going through, namely low world oil prices and a lack of other revenues in universities. The research consists of five subjects: the University Office of the Higher Education Fund, the Institute of Management of Rusafa, Technical Institute of Kut, Technical Institute Baquba, Technical College Baghdad and is based on data of the 2019-2021 period. It has been proven that the increasing requirements regarding the development of the educational process in terms of technology, as well as the urgent need for laboratories and other educational institutions to enhance their budgets to meet those requirements, become a burden for those institutions. Hence, the productive university should help find ways to match actual revenues in order to eliminate the observed budget deficit.

study aims to examine education and the challenges of globalization in light of Corona pandemic. The examination involves surveying a randomly selected sample from the University of Baghdad’s professors, particularly from the colleges of Education for Women, Arts, and Sciences. The purpose of this examination is to learn about the dimensions of globalization, its effects on the educational process, and the importance of distance education during the spread of Corona virus quarantine. To achieve this, the researcher followed a descriptive and analytical approach by applying a questionnaire to a sample of 70 teachers who were randomly selected electronically. Results have shown that 78.6% emphasized the contribution of globalization during Corona pandemic to develop teachers’ ability to employ modern technology and informatics. Besides, 65.7% pinpointed the role of globalization in activating the dialogue between teachers and learners during the discontinuation of the traditional means of teaching. This further allowed for continuity and non-stop education. Besides, there are differences between the effects of globalization and the learning of violent behavior for students attributed to gender and for the benefit of males. In addition, there are no statistically significant differences between globalization and academic achievement of students during corona pandemic at the freedom degree (1) and level of significant (0.05). Accordingly, the study recommended the need to review the educational system and reformulate its goals, objectives, goals and curricula in light of the globalization of knowledge that has become a reality. This can only be achieved by developing the capabilities of the teachers and the learners to face the challenges of globalization and get adapted to them.

In the light of the ongoing outbreak of epidemics, the Iraqi government ordered the temporary closure of university buildings and explicit compliance with social distancing, fearing increased infection rates among the large numbers of students. This closure, and the fear of infection, acted as an obstacle for users of educational spaces. To overcome this challenge, the study aimed to investigate the impact of educational space design on the effectiveness of social distancing to reduce the spread of epidemics. The shape, area, and furniture arrangement pattern were determined in the study of educational spaces design as a spatial configuration through the level of wayfinding and permeability. To better understand the relationship between the design of the current educational spaces and the effectiveness of social distancing, this study used a visual survey, field visits, and a quantitative method using a space syntax analysis. And the analysis was carried out on various models of educational spaces design in three elected samples of the buildings of the Technological University Baghdad, Iraq. The analysis values were represented in quantitative tables to illustrate the values of the space syntax attributes and charts showing measures of permeability and wayfinding in all the analysed models. The study results show an impact and a close relationship between the elements of educational space design as a spatial composition and the effectiveness of social distancing. This relationship is formed by the effect of the shape, space, and furniture arrangement pattern in changing the values of spatial space relationships. Furthermore, permeability and wayfinding as spatial characteristics depend on those relationships and control users’ circulation within the educational space, which is essential in determining the effectiveness of social distancing.

Abstract An experiment was carried out in the Laboratory of Seed Technology-College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences - University of Baghdad – Iraq, to studying the stimulation of maize seeds by soaking with selenium and chitosan to improve the vigour and viability of seeds. By using factorial experiment according to the Complete Random Design (CRD) with three replications. The seeds of two synthetic cultivars of maize (Baghdad 3 and Buhoth 5018) were soaked in selenium solutions at two concentrations (2 and 5 mg L-1), and chitosan (100 and 500 mg L-1) for 10 hours, as well as the two control treatments, which were dried seeds (without soaking) and the seeds soaked in distilled water. Results are shown that low concentration of 2 mg L-1 give highest mean were recorded in the percentage of germination in the first and final counts, the mean time germination, length of root and the plumule, the seedling vigour index, germination speed, and dry weight of the seedling. Seeds soaking with the solutions containing chitosan at both concentrations did not give significant results compared to the selenium treatments, both cultivars differed significantly in some germination characteristics and the vigour and viability of the seed: (length of root and the plumule, dry weight of the seedling). The results also showed a significant effect of the interaction between seed soaking treatments and cultivar on all studied traits. We conclude from this study that treatments of stimulating seeds by soaking them with distilled water and solutions of selenium and chitosan positively affected germination and its characteristics, so we recommend using low concentrations of selenium and chitosan to improve seed germination, vigour, and viability of the seedling.

The use of technology, such as computer-assisted language learning (CALL), is used in teaching and learning in the foreign language classrooms where it is most needed. One promising emerging technology that supports language learning is automatic speech recognition (ASR). Integrating such technology, especially in the instruction of pronunciation in the classroom, is important in helping students to achieve correct pronunciation. In Iraq, English is a foreign language, and it is not surprising that learners commit many pronunciation mistakes. One factor contributing to these mistakes is the difference between the Arabic and English phonetic systems. Thus, the sound transformation from the mother tongue (Arabic) to the target language (English) is one barrier for Arab learners. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of using automatic speech recognition ASR EyeSpeak software in improving the pronunciation of Iraqi learners of English. An experimental research project with a pretest-posttest design is conducted over a one-month period in the Department of English at Al-Turath University College in Baghdad, Iraq. The ten participants are randomly selected first-year college students enrolled in a pronunciation class that uses traditional teaching methods and ASR EyeSpeak software. The findings show that using EyeSpeak software leads to a significant improvement in the students’ English pronunciation, evident from the test scores they achieve after using EyeSpeak software.

Abstract An laboratory experiment was carried out during the year 2020 at the Seed Technology Laboratory of the Crop Department - College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences - University of Baghdad in order to know the effect of seed priming and size of their embryos of different cultivars of maize on the seedling characteristics. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with four replicates. The first factor included three synthetic cultivars of maize (Al-Maha, Baghdad 3 and Al-Fajr) and Al-Nahrain hybrid. For the second factor, it included the priming of seeds with ASA, CK, GA3, KCL, H2O2, DW and DS, in addition to the dry seeds (without priming). The seeds were soaked with solutions of these substances for 24 hours and six characteristics related to the germination process were estimated, which were the weight of the seed after stimulation, the weight of the embryo, the time of germination, the length of the radicle and shoot, and its dry weight. The results showed that the seed priming with H2O2 was significantly superior, as it gave the highest average of seed weight, lowest average germination time, longest average radiclelength and highest seedling dry weight (0.336 g, 3.12 days, 15.08 cm and 0.215 g, respectively). The treatment of seeds with ascorbic was superior in giving the highest average weight of the embryo that reached 0.049 gm, the treatment of stimulating the seeds with gibberellin was superior in giving the highest mean of the coleoptile length of 10.79 cm. Al-Maha cultivar excelled in giving it the highest average seed weight, embryo weight, radiclelength and dry weight, as it reached 0.335 g, 0.050 g, 14.42 cm and 0.194 g, respectively. Whereas, the Fajr cultivar was significantly superior by giving the highest average coleoptile length of 9.37 cm. The interaction effect between the study factors was significant in most of the studied traits.

This article reviews the technical applicability of nanofiltration membrane process for the removal of nickel, lead, and copper ions from industrial wastewater. Synthetic industrial wastewater samples containing Ni(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) ions at various concentrations (50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm), under different pressures (1, 2, 3 and 4 bar), temperatures (10, 20, 30 and 40 oC), pH (2, 3, 4, 5 and 5.5), and flow rates (1, 2, 3 and 4 L/hr), were prepared and subjected treated by NF systems in the laboratory. Suitable NF membrane was chosen after testing a number of NF membranes (University of Technology-Baghdad), in terms of production and removal. NF system was capable of removing more than (85%, 78%, and 66% for Ni(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) ions respectively). The permeate flux for all H.M ions for were ranges between (14 to 62 L/m2.hr). The results showed that the NF membrane was capable of treating industrial wastewater with any concentration of heavy metals ions and reducing the ion concentration to about (15, 22, and 34 ppm) for Ni(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) ions respectively. The low level of the heavy metals concentration in the permeate implies that water with good quality could be reclaimed for further reuse. The NF membrane is characterized by efficiently H.M. ions removal medium with high productivity and very low pressure up to 1 bar, which means very little cost for NF system.
