Zingiberaceae merupakan tumbuhan obat yang menjadi komoditas unggulan. Kabupaten Semarang merupakan salah satu sentra distribusi Zingeberaceae. Faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi distribusi Zingiberaceae adalah ketinggian tempat, kelembaban, suhu udara, pH tanah, dan intensitas cahaya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji jenis-jenis tumbuhan anggota Zingeberaceae, distribusi Zingiberaceae, dan pengaruh ketinggian tempat terhadap distribusi Zingiberaceae di Kabupaten Semarang. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan September sampai November 2010. Pengambilan sampel tumbuhan famili Zingiberaceae dilakukan di lima kecamatan Kabupaten yang memiliki ketinggian berbeda . Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan indeks nilai penting, derajat konstansi, dan analisis korelasi pengaruh ketinggian tempat terhadap distribusi Zingiberaceae. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan 12 jenis dan satu varietas tumbuhan anggota Zingeberaceae di Kabupaten Semarang. Jenis yang mempunyai nilai penting tinggi adalah Curcuma domestica (kunyit) dan Amomun cardomomum (kapulaga). Jenis yang mempunyai distribusi paling luas di Kabupaten Semarang adalah Amomum cardomomum, Curcuma xanthorrhiza, Curcuma domestica, Zingiber americans dan Zingiber officinale. Kata kunci : Distribusi, Zingiberaceae, Ketinggian Tempat, Kabupaten Semarang.

O fenômeno da mistura genérica é antigo entre os poetas, ainda que os teóricos da poesia nem sempre o tenham reconhecido. O objetivo deste artigo é investigar a coexistência entre os gêneros épico e bucólico n’Os Lusíadas. Embora este poema seja uma epopeia e tenha a Eneida, de Virgílio, como modelo de composição, uma leitura atenta da obra, apoiada por autores como Macedo (1992), Mulinacci (2011) e Binet (2019), descobrirá que a Ilha dos Amores, cujo episódio toma lugar no Canto IX, é uma versão renascentista de locus amoenus, tópica da tradição de poesia pastoril que parte das Bucólicas, do mesmo Virgílio. Para demonstrá-lo, far-se-á uma análise textual de passagens d’Os Lusíadas como as primeiras estrofes do Canto I, que evidenciam o gênero predominante dessa obra, e outras do episódio mencionado, a partir das quais é possível demonstrar a função do gênero bucólico no poema. Concluiu-se, por meio dessa análise, que o gênero bucólico tem função alegórica dentro d’Os Lusíadas e que a sua presença local neste participa do argumento expansionista e cristão da epopeia.

Amomi Fructus is widely used to treat digestive disorders, and Amomum villosum, A. villosum var. xanthioides, and A. longiligulare are permitted medicinally in national pharmacopeias. However, there are a variety of adulterants present in herbal markets owing to their morphological similarities to the genuine Amomum species. Forty-two Amomi Fructus samples from various origins were identified using internal transcribed spacer and chloroplast barcoding analyses, and then their chromatographic profiles were compared using chemometric analysis for chemotaxonomic monitoring. Among the Amomi Fructus samples, A. villosum, A. longiligulare, A. ghaticum, and A. microcarpum were confirmed as single Amomum species, whereas a mixture of either these Amomum species or with another Amomum species was observed in 15 samples. Chemotaxonomic monitoring results demonstrated that two medicinal Amomum samples, A. villosum and A. longiligulare, were not clearly distinguished from each other, but were apparently separated from other non-medicinal Amomum adulterants. A. ghaticum and A. microcarpum samples were also chemically different from other samples and formed their own species groups. Amomum species mixtures showed diverse variations of chemical correlations according to constituent Amomum species. Genetic authentication-based chemotaxonomic monitoring methods are helpful in classifying Amomi Fructus samples by their original species and to distinguish genuine Amomum species from the adulterants.

Two taxa of Amomum (Zingiberaceae), Amomum erythranthum and Amomum ampliflorum, from Putao, Kachin State of Northern Myanmar are described and illustrated as new to science. Amomum erythranthum is morphologically similar to A. subulatum and A. nimkeyense in having similar yellow flowers, but can be distinguished by its reddish floral tube, red anther connective, red and pubescent fruit. Amomum ampliflorum is similar to A. maximum, A. dealbatum and A. odontocarpum in white flower, but differs in its longer inflorescence and much larger flower. Two species, Amomum pauciflorum and Wurfbainia microcarpum are recorded for the flora of Myanmar for the first time. Data on ecology, phenology, distribution, conservation status, similarities to the related taxa, as well as colour photographs and line drawings of the type, and voucher specimens are provided for all reported taxa.

Partindo da crítica freudiana à promessa de felicidade embutida em uma certa ideia de amor, e da associação romântica entre o sentimento amoroso e as paixões políticas, discuto as implicações mútuas do tema em âmbito público e privado. Busco refletir sobre a potência do amor para impulsionar transformações sociais, ao mesmo tempo em que considero as assimetrias que estruturam as relações privadas em sentido político. Para T.W. Adorno, o amor não é um sentimento espontâneo, mas mediado cultural e socialmente, e atravessado por contradições. No contexto de uma vida lesada, contraposta aos ideais de uma vida boa, discuto o amor como exercício de resistência, bem como as lacunas presentes em análises que desconsideram as assimetrias de poder que persistem como empecilho à condição de não violência das relações sociais.

Objective To explore the influence of biological characteristics on the yield of Amomum villosum Lour. and Amomum longiligulare T. L. Wu, to find an effective pollen viability evaluation method and storage method to solve the problem of the low yield of Amomum plants. Methods Five germplasm of Amomum plants were used to investigate the effects of the phenological phase, pollen viability, and stigma receptivity on natural and artificial fruit set. Results Amomum longiligulare T. L. Wu showed late flowering, and its natural pollination rate is higher than that of Amomum villosum Lour. In all germplasm, the artificial pollination rate and fruit setting rate are more than 3 times higher than that under natural conditions. Fruits begin to drop seven days after successful pollination, and the fruit drop is basically stable after one month. The hybridization verification showed that TTC method was simpler and more accurate than in vitro germination method. Optimal storage conditions for pollen are 4°C and high humidity. After 36 h of storage, pollen can still be used for artificial cross-pollination or as hybrid parents. Conclusion The special biological characteristics are the fundamental reason for the low natural pollination rate of Amomum plants. The accurate measurement method of Amomum plants pollen is the TTC method, and storage at 4°C and high humidity can increase the yield, which was six times that of the natural yield.

A lectotype of Amomum unifolium is designated here and epitypes with complete flowers are designated to ensure unambiguous application of both names. In addition, four new related species are presented in this paper, Amomum cinnamomeum, A. corrugatum, A. lutescens and A. miriflorum. Detailed descriptions, colour plates including flower dissections, notes on habitat and preliminary IUCN assessments are given for all six species.

Purple amomum (Amomum longiligulare T.L. Wu), which belongs to the monophyletic Zingiberaceae family, is a valuable medicinal plant in Vietnam. The studies on the biological activities of the extracts or essential oils of this species are very limited. So far, there has been no evaluation of the antifungal activity of purple amomum extracts. Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht. and Helminthosporium sativum P. K. & B. fungi which are the causal agent of a wide variety of cereal and many economically important crop species diseases, causing significant losses to agricultural production. The use of plant extracts to control these fungi is an alternative to synthetic fungicides. The attempt of this study was to investigate the antifungal activity of ethanol extracts from different organs of purple amomum against both fungi species. The antifungal effect of purple amomum extracts (including ethanol extract of leaf, seed, rhizome and root, and pseudo-stem) concentrations of 0.05 and 0.10 mg/mL were investigated. Our present study showed that the extracts of purple amomum had different effects on the two fungi species. Extracts of 0.10 mg/mL seed and 0.10 mg/mL leaf in most of the treatments showed the best antifungal effect on both studied fungal species. In all the treatments using seed extract, the lowest indicator of the specific growth rate (m) of the fungi was observed. On the other hand, the antifungal effect of purple amomum extracts on H. sativum fungus appeared to be better than on F. oxysporum fungus. The results of this study open up the prospect of developing new fungicides from purple amomum extracts to treat diseases caused by F. oxysporum and H. sativum fungi in crops.

Amomum austrosinense was published in 1982, but examination the morphology of living plants and the type specimens makes it clear that it is a species of Alpinia. Its inflorescence has an involucre of sterile bracts in contrast to absent in Amomum Roxburgh, and the anther crest absent rather than usually present with variously lobed in Amomum. Furthermore, the staminodes are big and not small as in Amomum. Morphological comparisons show that it is very close to Alpinia pumila, from which it can be distinguished by the more densely flowered inflorescence and narrowly elliptic or oblong lamina without whitish stripes between the nerves. Hence the new combination Alpinia austrosinense is proposed.

Amomum villosum is an important medicinal and edible plant with several pharmacologically active volatile oils. However, identifying A. villosum from A. villosum var. xanthioides and A. longiligulare which exhibit similar morphological characteristics to A. villosum, is difficult. The main goal of this study, therefore, is to mine genetic resources and improve molecular methods that could be used to distinguish these species. A total of eight complete chloroplasts (cp) genomes of these Amomum species which were collected from the main producing areas in China were determined to be 163,608–164,069 bp in size. All genomes displayed a typical quadripartite structure with a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions (29,820–29,959 bp) that separated a large single copy (LSC) region (88,680–88,857 bp) from a small single copy (SSC) region (15,288–15,369 bp). Each genome encodes 113 different genes with 79 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. More than 150 SSRs were identified in the entire cp genomes of these three species. The Sanger sequencing results based on 32 Amomum samples indicated that five highly divergent regions screened from cp genomes could not be used to distinguish Amomum species. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the cp genomes could not only accurately identify Amomum species, but also provide a solid foundation for the establishment of phylogenetic relationships of Amomum species. The availability of cp genome resources and the comparative analysis is beneficial for species authentication and phylogenetic analysis in Amomum.

During a study to re-assess the genus Amomum Roxb. in Sri Lanka, we encountered a new variety of Amomum from Seven Virgin Hills of Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, Sri Lanka. This new specimen shows similar morphological characters to Amomum villosum var. villosum and var. xanthioides but it exhibits significant differences in some important characters such as lamina shape, ligule hairs, bract and bracteole hairs, non-tubular bracteoles and labellum color patterns which warrant the recognition of a new variety under A. villosum. All the important features of this new taxon (Amomum villosum var. zeylanicus) including morphology, habitat, geographical separation, ecology, and IUCN status assessment are described and illustrated for the first time.

Renggak (Amomum dealbatum Roxb.) is a species from the genus Amomum widely spread in Lombok. Traditionally, Amomum dealbatum Roxb. (renggak) is an antiseptic to treat rheumatism and arthritis. However, there was limited report of its phytochemical contents and biological activity of Amomum dealbatum Roxb. This study is preliminary research that aims to determine the phytochemical content of Amomum dealbatum Roxb. leaf decoction and its ethanolic extract. For this study, we used two different extraction methods. The fully powdered plant used for the successive extraction in the cold process for maceration methods was 800 g, and ethanols were used as solvents. We used a traditional receipt that utilized three fresh leaves in the decoction methods with 4,5 L of water as solvents. Phytochemical screening was carried out qualitatively by using the tube method with specific reagents for each compound. Important phytochemicals that were screened are flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and triterpenoids. Phytochemical screening from plant extract and decoction revealed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins. Triterpenoid was only detected on the extract, and none of the extract and decoction have saponins and steroids. Our finding provides information about secondary metabolites that present in Amomum dealbatum Roxb. These phytochemical findings are essential and might be useful as quality parameters and to predicts its biological activities.

The study used headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HS−SPME−GC−TOF−MS) to analyze volatile compounds in leaves and fruits of Amomum tsaoko, Amomum paratsaoko, and Amomum koenigii. The composition and aroma of distinct metabolites were analyzed using multivariate statistical methods. A total of 564 volatile compounds were identified from three species of the genus Amomum, which were further divided into nine categories: terpenoids, carboxylic acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, phenols, ethers, and other compounds. Terpenoids and alcohols were the most abundant. The content and types of compounds vary in A. tsaoko, A. paratsaoko, and A. koenigii, so mixing or substituting them is not advisable. We selected 45 metabolites based on the criteria of the variable importance in projection values (VIP > 1.5) and one-way ANOVA (p < 0.05). The top 19 metabolites with the most significant VIP values were chosen. Interestingly, (Z)-2-decenal was only found in Amomum koenigii, while nitroethane and nonanal were only present in cultivated A. tsaoko. Additionally, linalool, cineole, and (D)-limonene were the main components affecting the aroma of three species of the genus Amomum. The volatile components identified in this study provide a theoretical basis for analyzing the unique flavor of A. tsaoko, A. paratsaoko, and A. koenigii.

A machine vision system based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) was proposed to sort Amomum villosum using X-ray non-destructive testing technology in this study. The Amomum villosum fruit network (AFNet) algorithm was developed to identify the internal structure for quality classification and origin identification in this manuscript. This network model is composed of experimental features of Amomum villosum. In this study, we adopted a binary classification method twice consecutive to identify the origin and quality of Amomum villosum. The results show that the accuracy, precision, and specificity of the AFNet for quality classification were 96.33%, 96.27%, and 100.0%, respectively, achieving higher accuracy than traditional CNN under the condition of faster operation speed. In addition, the model can also achieve an accuracy of 90.60% for the identification of places of origin. The accuracy of multi-category classification performed later with the consistent network structure is lower than that of the cascaded CNNs solution. With this intelligent feature recognition model, the internal structure information of Amomum villosum can be determined based on X-ray technology. Its application will play a positive role to improve industrial production efficiency.

The locus amoenus boasts a long history in cultural representation as a motif affiliated with impossible unions. This article seeks to articulate it as an analytic category for contemporary queer cinema. It does so on the basis of a detailed analysis of Stephan Lacant's Freier Fall (Free Fall, 2013). Lacant's film presents two intertwined temporal structures that converge in the film's evocation of the locus amoenus. On the one hand, Free Fall depicts a heteronormative habitus into which its main character, Marc (Hanno Koffler), is socialized. Here, in the domain of chrononormativity (Freeman), the protagonist's past and present align and are intended to shape the future. On the other hand, the locus amoenus generates an alternate, queer temporal order for Marc: on meeting Kay (Max Riemelt), Marc derails. The regular liaison with Kay poses a threat to the hegemonic order and indexes a queer presentism competing with the regimented hetero temporality of his familial life. The analysis of these competing and intertwined temporal orders will show how the regular narrative recurrence of the locus amoenus in the film — next to being a driving force for the film's melodramatic sentimentality — also stimulates “viewerly” pleasure. This pleasure is immediately tethered to the rhythm of the motif's recurrence and the disabling of hegemonic pressures faced by the protagonist. However, the momentary recourse to queer pleasure afforded by the locus amoenus does not anticipate affirmative queer futures. As this article demonstrates, the locus amoenus advances a queer presentism that compromises liberatory potentials.
