Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe main objective of this thesis is to analyze the forms in which black and migrant Brazilian women are represented in European newspapers. Our starting point is the study of the triple alterity of the "woman, mulatta and migrant" through historical, philosophical and sociological perspectives. In this regard, our theoretical framework is grounded on researches about gender and post-gender, black feminism as well as an approach in gender on migration studies. The analysis of the media representation of alterity in the discourse of journalism is in the center of the thesis. Initially, we analyze the "authority of journalistic discourse", which structures under-representation and invisibility of minority groups in the pages of newspapers. Then, we present the "alterity journalistic discourse," which represents a possibility of inclusion of minority groups in the mass media. The empirical research is based on the critical discourse analysis; we work with French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and English newspapers to better understand the modalities of representation of this threefold otherness. In addition, we present interviews with Brazilians who are living in Europe. These testimonials are important in this thesis because they bring new perspectives about the correlation between journalism, alterity and racism

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research explores the theatrical genre and its connections with the novelistic genre in the representation of migrant otherness in contemporary Spanish literature between 2000 and 2018. Focusing on African and Middle Eastern migrations that have reached Spanish shores since the 1990s, we compare the evolution of the figure of migrant otherness between the 1990s and 2000s, marked by a dramaturgical and literary shift. The analysis extends to Arabic-speaking playwrights who have experienced this migratory phenomenon, questioning how theater and the novel construct the figure of migrant otherness and crystallize the stereotypes perpetuated by our societies. These works, far from mere mimesis, challenge the social gaze shaped by the media and provide a space to examine the contours of migrant otherness, as well as the literary and dramatic strategies that bring it into debate. Finally, we examine the impact of these representations on Spanish society, which has been confronted with massive migratory flows since the 1990s, and on the new laws that have emerged in response (Organic Law 4/2000 and its successive amendments). Ultimately, this dramatic literature allows us to assess how it contributes to the construction of citizenship and civic engagement by offering a critical lens on the figure of the Other

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis doctoral thesis emphacises the universal relation between subjet and culture from the standpoint of the psychoanalytic postulate of the unconscious as determining the fundamental lack of the subject, all of this beyond particular cultural declensions which “metaphorise” – through the signifiers of each culture – the fundamental prohibition which structures this relation as well as the cultural commandments thereby expressed. For this purpose, we base ourselves on the subjective experience of exile in real life as suspending the fundamental illusions of belonging, more specifically within the context of our clinical encounter with a member of the Roma migrant community within the Ile-de-France region. When using the term “Roma”, we refer to cultural and social backgrounds which, from the point of view of psychoanalysis, function according to symbolic coordinates. Such coordinates, before becoming culturally specific, are universal through what Freud designates as Kultur: the subject, who is subjected to the fundamental prohibition, finds a meaningful place within the order of generations and within gender differences. It is from this place that the subject, who must make do with his lack – lack which declines and circulates within the signifiers of his culture –, weaves his desire. If any particularity is to be taken into account, it must be located within the social conditions determining the migratory movement: the compositional safeguarding of the community's social structures even in foreing land permits the subject's initial symbolic configuration within his place of belonging to be conserved. Hence, if the symbolic mooring of the migrant Roma is not lost, even though he is constantly confronted with an imaginary overrun with figures of foreignness, it is because he has sealed its inscription within an elsewhere which is unalienable and intangible (said Athiganos in ancient Greek) as an immediate consequence of the unfamiliarity and the disallowance of a place among the others.Following this view we may understand, in such a particular migratory context, how exile does not commence with displacement, but rather through separation from a community of belonging, through confrontation with the lack of meaning within oneself – lack of meaning emerging within the encounter with the foreigner, radically questionning the subject's original symbolic place.Facing the exiled subject's nostalgic evocation of his loss, the clinician's task is to respectfully acknowledge these contents – as lost objects, which are presented by the patient as being of cultural order – , and go beyond, to focus upon the psychic process of loss itself, as well as the weakening of identity as a trial endured by the subject, as the latter becomes orphaned from the illusions founding the membership and symbolic place which suppored hitherto his desire. The questions arising from such a context will be those which lead to the patient's subjectivity, bringing out the fault lines of his symbolic composition: doubts of his origins, of the family order, of linkages with parents, of the rights and privileges of his siblings, of his own sexual choices, etc.Throughout our clinical follow-up, we observed a subjective usage of the place given to the foreigner, as a symbolic territory of alienation indispensable to the subjet facing the threatening desire of the feminin Other, from which the subject flees through a movement of auto-exile. If met and acknowledged through speech, he could metaphorise himself in a prolific exile. Following the operation of such subjective uprooting was the possibility that a symbolic space other than that of the origins be invested, metaphorised through social accomodation, to become a space capable of accomodating the initial subjective exile

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe present thesis examines social gender identity transmission amongst a community of Sub-Saharan African migrants in France. From a theoretical perspective the study examines how gendered social identity is not an option for individuals to become competent social actors. Here, gender both organizes social categories and is a tool for analyzing social hierarchies. From a methodological perspective, the study questions the effect of subjectivity on data collection. The asymmetries between researcher and participant that arise in the field highlight the very dynamics at play in social identities and are taken into account in data analysis. Interviews with migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa (adults n=31, adolescents n=9) and ethnographic observations in a Congolese Pentecostal church in France (1 year, twice-weekly) first reveal their recourse to stable gender norms and religious practices. The transition of migration implies the passage from an extended to nuclear family system, membership to a stigmatized minority group, and traces from war experiences. Secondly, parents want their children to reproduce the family model founded on a sex-gender system in which sexuality and social categories are hierarchically differentiated. The children are faced with a paradoxical injunction: to remain faithful to their parents’ norms whilst achieving the social ascension in the system from which their parents are excluded. Finally, the perspective of both parents and children reveal a complex system of symbolic exchange for which the stakes of transmission are the construction of norms and social positions. Such an exchange implies that both adults and youth must adhere to a gendered and hierarchical system governed by religion. Alterity, exemplified by gender and ethnicity, is therefore the result of a double process of social construction and exclusion. Through the condition of the other, this study reveals how the experience of social cohesion depends upon transgenerational transmission, which governs social differentiation through the attribution of otherness

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this doctoral thesis is:- to think identity in psychoanalysis through the clinical care of first generation migrants (asylum seekers in Marseille, migrants in irregular status in Barcelona)- to work on those clinical facts : how can we understand that some patients are able to say "I don't know who I am", how can we understand that they go through some inhibitions to "live in the place" (F. Benslama), and how can we understand that some of them go through psychic collapse at the moment of the announcement of an agreement for political asylum? The hypothesis that I make is that these clinical facts can be understood as a "clinic of identity". The purpose to think identity through exile lead us to the hypothesis that the access of self-representation is built on the experience of otherness. This is why the exile can be interpreted (as a psychical experience) as an alteration of the relationship with the Other, which means as an alteration of self-representation.This implies to make the hypothesis that there is, inside of the question of exile, an unconscious phantasy of treason, and that this phantasy is related with the identity, and that this phantasy is based over the unspeakable fear of being forgotten. The clinical care will then be understood as an "identity work", which means as a work of recognition of the singularity of the event that the subject goes through, so that the patient would be able to restart the dialogue with himself. Then the exile may be thought in its ontological dimension : it means as an experience of identity

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis doctoral thesis explores the construction of linguistic identities in migrants' trajectories and the integration process of multilingual African migrants whose life courses are contextualized by the multiple and diversified Francophone spaces which Sub-Saharan Africa, mainland France and New Brunswick's Acadie represent. It is based on a comparative approach aimed at understanding how, and to what extent, migrants from Black Africa are integrated into each specific settlement context of New Brunswick's Acadie and France, and whether or not their integration validates their Francophone identity and competencies. Further, the research is informed by a hermeneutic qualitative perspective, which places primary importance on the lived experiences of individuals and the historicity of the social processes and phenomena underlying their experiences. Using this perspective, the study presents a sociolinguistic reading of life histories and linguistic biographies of the migrants interviewed. This approach makes it possible to interpret the experiences articulated in their comments, and to define the impact of reconfigurations generated by their contact with sociolinguistic and sociocultural environments different from those in which they first established themselves as individual speakers

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis PhD, written while working at the Departemental council for Val-de-Marne (CIFRE structure), offers a survey and reflexion on the place given to learning French by migrant women, with complex insertion histories, within a training program of French as a professional language. This program has been initiated and supported by the Department, for which the PhD candidate was project manager. This research raises the question of the place and role of French language in the integrative vision of foreigners by the French State, but also by migrating persons themselves. In the same time, the missions accomplished at CIFRE have allowed to shed the light on a linguistic management and development that appears to be both implicit and territorialized. This research, rooted in the fields of didactics of languages and sociolinguistic, has been developed from a comprehensive and an interpretative epistemological orientation, informed by the hermeneutical points of view, questioning all together the notions of history, experience and projection (of the witnesses, as well as the researcher)
Gonzalez, Barrera Diego Melvin. „Escritura migrante latinoamericana : por la construcción de una identidad latino-quebequense“. Thesis, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/24189.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis work analyzes the dynamics of the cultural contact between Québec and Latin America in order to study the production and development of a Latin-Quebecer identity based on the processes of reconfiguration of identity. Likewise, it studies how literary texts of Latin-American origin produced in Quebec present and intertwine the cultural elements of these two groups, in dialogue with existing analyses of migrant writing (Moisan, 2008; Dupuis, 2006; Chartier, 2002). Therefore, individualized analyses of the three works of our corpus focus on distinct issues relating to migrant writing. First, in the short story “El país de los hiperbóreos” by Roberto Angulo (2015), we analyze how characters were created to address processes of identity formation (Acha, 1996), alterity and the sense of a double belonging (Bhabha, 2007). Second, in the Gerardo Ferro’s short story “Côte-des-Neiges” we focus on how space is represented, and its correlation to the development of the migrant’s identity, in dialogue with the concepts of chronotope (Bajtín, 1989), habitable place (Harel, 2005) and social space (Bourdieu, 1994). Lastly, with Mauricio Segura’s novel Côte-des-Nègres (2003), we draw on theories of the novel (Eikhenbaum, 1965), transculturation (Rama, 2004) and interstitial spaces (Bhabha, 2007), to focus on processes of rupture and negotiation in Quebec society. This research project aims to outline some dynamics of cultural contact that favor or obstruct the processes of reconfiguring the identities of the Latin-American migrant population in Quebec.
