This thesis is devoted to the development of an experimental and a numerical method to test the validity of SDOF treatments acoustic impedance models in the presence of mean flow. This approach is based on the comparison of experimental results from an aeroacoustical duct, and numerical results from a FEM-PML axisymmetric model based on Galbrun’s equation. Thus, in the first part of this thesis, the FEM-PML model is presented. In the second part, some acoustic impedance models are exposed, and the validation method and the results of these validations are presented

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleAcoustic liners are widely used to reduce noise emissions in aircraft engines. The investigation of liners behavior is essential for their development. Impedance eduction is thus commonly implemented to measure its acoustic impedance in presence of flow. The work in this thesis aims to study the performance of the direct eduction method under realistic conditions, especially when considering large ducts, high-order acoustic modes and flow velocities representative of aircraft nacelles. The study is first based on numerical simulations with a multimodal method. Then the MAINE Flow facility is used for experimental validation and demonstration of the proposed methods and conclusions.In large ducts, the sound field is more complex compared to small ducts in the same frequency range. Therefore, the impedance eduction is challenging, and also because it is also perturbed by the background noise due to the presence of flow. The first task is to design microphone arrays for the experimental facility with the aim of performing accurate impedance eduction in large ducts. The second objective is to investigate the effects of shear flow. Impedance eduction is commonly implemented under the hypothesis of uniform mean flow. However, it is reasonable to question the validity of the uniform flow hypothesis, especially when considering large ducts. The third task is to study the influence of the incident sound field. In large ducts, the sound field contains higher-order modes, and different incident waves result in different behavior of the impedance eduction. It is thus necessary to study how the incident acoustic field affects the eduction results in the presence of flow

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn aeronautic industry, the efficiency of acoustic liners in bypass and inter-stage regions of the turbofan engine is reached the limit, especially at the Blade Passage Frequencies (BPF), due to the interaction between the fan blades and the struts. Then, pure tones are produced in the noise spectrum for all flight phases, in addition of acoustic liners, Herschel-Quincke (HQ) tubes provide an alternative to improve the attenuation at the BPF. These tubes are placed in the periphery of the main duct and produce phase differences between acoustic waves in the main duct and in the HO tubes in order to attenuate the transmitted acoustic power. A mixed numerical-analytical model was developed for the fast computation of the scattering matrix of a ring of HO tubes integrated in a finite length line wall circular duct. This technic takes into account the exact shape of HO tube and the possibility of a non uniform acoustic velocity at the interfaces between the main duct and the HO tube. This model also allows a study of HQ tube parameters with a time swing compared to a standard element method. Finally, the mixed model has no frequency limit

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis manuscript deals with the development of a calculation method of low Mach number flow noise in ducts in the presence of fixed obstacles. lt consists of a numerical simulation of the flow during which data are saved and used in a second time to estimate the acoustic radiation. The fluid calculation is performed with an incompressible LES turbulence model. A code has been developed for the acoustic computation which includes the Fourier transform of the flow data, the integral computation and the post-processing. The originality of the method lies in the fact that it requires as information on the flow only surface data. No volume term needs to be saved during the fluid calculation. ln a duct obstructed by an obstacle, the main sources of noise are located near the obstacle and the scattered field on the obstacle dominates on the direct radiation of the sources. lt is the diffraction of the incident radiation which makes the volume data negligible in the acoustic calculation. This is studied and illustrated through the simplified case of the radiation from a source located near a ducted obstacle. Favorable comparisons with measurements validate the method and the developed code. Several configurations are studied: the insertion into a straight rectangular duct of a diaphragm, an arrangement of two diaphragms and a flap. ln the presence of a diaphragm, a theory of similarity is introduced; in the presence of a double diaphragm, interaction phenomena between the two obstacles appear and are analyzed; and in the presence of a flap, particular resonances are examined

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe advent of modern turbofan engines such as UHBR goes along with new issues. Amongst others, the shortening of the inlet and exhaust yield a relatively higher importance of the liners located inside the interstage, where the flow is highly swirling. The present work aims at developing analytical models to assess the effect of the swirl both on the behavior of the interstage liners and on the upstream radiation of the fan-OGV interaction broadband boise. The evolution of small fluctuations in a rigid annular duct containing a swirling and sheared mean flow are studied first. After having introduced the governing equations and the main assumptions, the acoustic analogy of Posson & Peake [122] tailored to an annular duct with swirl and shear is presented. The effect of the swirl on the modal content in a rigid annular duct is highlighted for different types of swirl. In particular the shift of the cut-on thresholds is studied. Then, the modal analysis is extended to a duct with lined walls. A particular attention is paid on the boundary condition. Notably, a correction of the classical Myers boundary condition [101] is proposed to account for the centrifugal effects. An extension of Brambley’s boundary condition [24] is also derived to account for the boundary layer thickness to first order. The effect of both the swirl and the boundary condition on the modal content are studied. Besides, a dispersion relation for the surface waves is derived for the corrected Myers boundary condition. Based on the previous modal analyses, a transmission tool is developed to assess the effect of the swirl on the efficiency of a liner. The method, which relies on the mode-matching approach, is based on the conservation of the total enthalpy and the mass flow at the interfaces between the rigid and the lined sections. Due to the nature of the eigenfunctions, a new projection method based on the Chebyshev polynomial properties is proposed. Thanks to this model, the absorption is assessed for different types of swirl. Finally, a rotor-stator interaction broadband noise prediction model is derived from Posson & Peake’s acoustic analogy [122], to account for the effect of the swirl on the upstream radiated acoustic power. The source term is computed according to Posson et al.’s model [120]. It allows considering a radial variation of the geometry and the statistical properties of the incident turbulence. The model is assessed on the NASA SDT test case and the effect of the swirl is evaluated for several stator geometries and regimes
