PurposeThe purpose of the work is to provide a comprehensive review of the digital image correlation (DIC) technique for those who are interested in performing the DIC technique in the area of manufacturing.Design/methodology/approachNo methodology was used because the paper is a review article.Findingsno fundings.Originality/valueHerein, the historical development, main strengths and measurement setup of DIC are introduced. Subsequently, the basic principles of the DIC technique are outlined in detail. The analysis of measurement accuracy associated with experimental factors and correlation algorithms is discussed and some useful recommendations for reducing measurement errors are also offered. Then, the utilization of DIC in different manufacturing fields (e.g. cutting, welding, forming and additive manufacturing) is summarized. Finally, the current challenges and prospects of DIC in intelligent manufacturing are discussed.

Abstract There seems to exist agreement about the fact that inflation squeezes the quantum state of cosmological perturbations and entangles modes with wavenumbers k⟶ and -k⟶. Paradoxically, this result has been used to justify both the classicality as well as the quantumness of the primordial perturbations at the end of inflation. We reexamine this question and point out that the definition of two-mode squeezing of the modes k⟶ and -k⟶ used in previous work rests on choices that are only justified for systems with time-independent Hamiltonians and finitely many degrees of freedom. We argue that for quantum fields propagating on generic time-dependent Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker backgrounds, the notion of squeezed states is subject to ambiguities, which go hand in hand with the ambiguity in the definition of particles. In other words, we argue that the question “does the cosmic expansion squeeze and entangle modes with wavenumbers k⟶ and -k⟶?” contains the same ambiguity as the question “does the cosmic expansion create particles?”. When additional symmetries are present, like in the (quasi) de Sitter-like spacetimes used in inflationary models, one can resolve the ambiguities, and we find that the answer to the question in the title turns out to be in the negative. We further argue that this fact does not make the state of cosmological perturbations any less quantum, at least when deviations from Gaussianity can be neglected.

Abstract We explore how interactions between baryons and photons can be incorporated into Kinetic Field Theory (KFT), a description of cosmic structure formation based on classical Hamiltonian particle dynamics. In KFT, baryons are described as effective mesoscopic particles which represent fluid elements governed by the hydrodynamic equations. In this paper, we modify the mesoscopic particle model to include pressure effects exerted on baryonic matter through interactions with photons. As a proof of concept, we use this extended mesoscopic model to describe the tightly coupled baryon-photon fluid between matter-radiation equality and recombination. We show that this model can qualitatively reproduce the formation of baryon-acoustic oscillations in the cosmological power spectrum.

Background: Sex-specific quantification of cam morphology in patients with femoroacetabular impingement syndrome may improve diagnostics, surgical planning, and outcomes. Purpose: To (1) examine differences between men and women with symptomatic cam deformities based on deformity location, magnitude, and extent; (2) assess the association between cam deformity and labral pathology; and (3) evaluate the relationship between cam deformity and patient-reported outcome measures after hip arthroscopy. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Computed tomography (CT) scans were acquired in 98 consecutive patients before hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome. Custom software was used to generate 3-dimensional bone models and align them to a standard coordinate system. The alpha angle was measured at the 12-, 1-, 2-, and 3-o’clock positions, with 12 and 3 o’clock corresponding to the superior and anterior aspects of the femur, respectively. These alpha angle measurements were used to define the cam midpoint and extent. The labral tear midpoint and extent were evaluated intraoperatively. Bivariate correlation analysis was used to evaluate the association between the cam and labral tear midpoints and between the extent of the cam morphology and labral tearing. Results: The 3-dimensional models were analyzed in a cohort of 69 female and 29 male patients. Male patients were older (mean ± SD, 38.9 ± 12.6 vs 30.7 ± 12.2 years, P = .006) and had a greater body mass index (27.8 ± 4.4 vs 25.3 ± 5.6 kg/m2, P = .005). Male patients had greater alpha angle measures at 12, 1, and 3 o’clock ( P < .05) and a greater maximum alpha angle (69.0° ± 18.8° vs 62.1° ± 21.0°, P = .031); the location of their maximum cam impingement was also significantly different ( P < .05) when compared with female patients. Cam impingement (2:06 ± 1:09 vs 1:33 ± 1:16 clockfaces, P = .032) and labral tearing (3:02 ± 0:35 vs 2:34 ± 0:53 clockfaces, P = .003) in men extended over a greater region of the femoral clockface when compared with women. Significant correlations were demonstrated between the cam and labral tear midpoint locations ( r = 0.190, P = .032) and the extent of the cam deformity and labral tearing ( r = 0.203, P = .024). There were no sex-based differences in patient-reported outcome measures at baseline or 2-year follow-up. Conclusion: Male patients possessed greater cam deformity magnitude and extent when compared with female patients. Cam pathomorphology was associated with the location and extent of labral tearing.

Mice fed with diet containing 0·5 % cholesterol for 10 weeks resulted in cholesterol supersaturation in gallbladder bile which promoted the formation of cholesterol gallstones (CGS). In this study, dietary hypocholesterolaemic spices, garlic and onion (both raw or heat-processed) were examined for their antilithogenic potential by including at 0·6 and 2·0 % level, respectively, along with lithogenic (LG) diet for 10 weeks. Dietary garlic and onion reduced the CGS incidence by 15–39 %, the effect being maximum in the heat-processed onion group. Dietary garlic and onion markedly reduced biliary cholesterol. The cholesterol:phospholipid ratio which was 1·58 in the LG diet group was reduced to 0·73–0·96 in the garlic and onion groups. The biliary cholesterol saturation index was 0·92, 1·25, 1·09 and 0·86, respectively, in the heat-processed onion, raw garlic, heat-processed garlic and raw onion groups, while it was 1·9 in the LG group. The hydrophobicity index of bile was − 0·08, − 0·079, − 0·032 and − 0·073, respectively, in the heat-processed onion, raw garlic, heat-processed garlic and raw onion groups, while it was +0·054 in the LG group. Hepatic hydroxymethyl glutaryl-CoA reductase activity was lowered in the LG diet-fed group, while dietary garlic or onion countered this alteration and also increased the activities of hepatic cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase and sterol 27-hydroxylase. Serum and liver cholesterol were decreased by feeding garlic or onion compared to the LG diet. Thus, dietaryAlliumspices exerted antilithogenic influence by decreasing the cholesterol hyper-secretion into bile and increasing the bile acid output thus decreasing the formation of lithogenic bile in experimental mice.

Abstract Introduction Allocentric spatial navigation (SN) is considered a measure for conversion from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer’s disease. NREM sleep slow waves and spindles, and hippocampal volume (HV) are impaired in MCI, however their relationship with SN overnight memory consolidation (OMC) is unknown. This study aimed to examine: 1) SN OMC in MCI, and, 2) associations between SN OMC and NREM oscillations and HV. Methods Cognitively-intact (n=25), non-amnestic MCI (naMCI, n=22) and amnestic-MCI (aMCI, n=10) older adults completed neuropsychological assessment, neuroimaging, overnight routine and high-density EEG polysomnography (hdEEG subset; controls=17, MCI=8). Slow oscillations, slow wave activity, slow and fast spindle density and power were computed. OMC% was calculated by: ([post-sleep error score/pre-sleep error score]*100) from a familiar and novel (allocentric) location. Right CA1, dentate gyrus (DG) and entorhinal cortex were computed using ASHS software. Results MCI performed worse on familiar location-OMC% compared to controls (Cohens d= -.67, p= .016). aMCI performed worse on allocentric-OMC% compared to controls (omega2= .09, p= .032). Reduced spindles were associated with worse allocentric-OMC% in aMCI (frontal-slow spindles [rho= -.782 p= .008], parietal-fast spindles [rho= -.576, p= .082]). Using hdEEG, widespread fast spindle and allocentric-OMC% associations were indicated in MCI. Reduced right HV (DG [r= -.453, p= .023], CA1 [r= -.426, p= .068]) was related to worse allocentric-OMC% in MCI. Discussion In MCI, SN OMC is impaired, with worse consolidation associated with spindle and right HV loss. Future studies should examine whether SN OMC and spindles capture conversion to Alzheimer’s disease in ‘at-risk’ older adults.

While developing an approach to why-QA, we extended a passage retrieval system that uses off-the-shelf retrieval technology with a re-ranking step incorporating structural information. We get significantly higher scores in terms of MRR@150 (from 0.25 to 0.34) and success@10. The 23% improvement that we reach in terms of MRR is comparable to the improvement reached on different QA tasks by other researchers in the field, although our re-ranking approach is based on relatively lightweight overlap measures incorporating syntactic constituents, cue words, and document structure.

Висвітлено досвід роботи інноваційної педагогічної технології «Арт ‐ лабораторія життєвих завдань». Схарактеризовано етапи становлення інноваційної педагогічної технології й окреслено тематичні напрями зазначеної Арт – лабораторії. Описана робота з вихованцями за тематичними напрямами Арт – лабораторії життєвих завдань, зокрема мета, методи та форми організації занять. Більш детально розкрита форма роботи з вихованцями «Діамантове ранжування». Висновлено, що інноваційна педагогічна технологія, що розроблена та впроваджена педагогічним колективом Кіровоградського обласного ЦДЮТ сприяє формуванню у підростаючого покоління необхідних духовних, моральних і патріотичних цінностей.

Background: Mutations in the Nucleophosmin 1 gene ( NPM1 mut ) represent one of the most common genetic lesions in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Based on its characteristic clinico-pathologic features, NPM1 mutAML has been recognized as a distinct entity among the category “AML with recurrent genetic abnormalities”. According to the ELN 2022 genetic risk-stratification, NPM1 mut AML, in the absence of FLT3-ITD mutation, is associated with a favorable prognosis. However, a significant proportion of these patients (pts) relapse after intensive therapy suggesting that other co-mutations may have an impact on outcome. Aims: To comprehensively characterize the genomic landscape and leukemogenic trajectoriesin a large cohort of NPM1 mut AML pts and to investigate its prognostic and predictive impact on outcome. Methods: Targeted DNA sequencing (mean read depth: 1817) on the entire coding region of 263 genes was performed in 568 NPM1 mut AML pts (median age: 58.7 years; 18-60 years, n=317; &gt;60 years, n=251). All pts were enrolled in the randomized open-label Phase 3 AMLSG 09-09 trial [NCT00893399; Döhner H et al. Lancet Haematol 2023]. In this trial, pts were assigned to intensive chemotherapy plus all- trans retinoic acid with or without gemtuzumab ozogamicin; none of the pts received midostaurin. Results: In total n=3,058 variants (variant allele frequency of ≥1%) were identified in 195/263 genes. The median number of co-mutations was 3 (range 0-11). The most common co-mutated genes were DNMT3A (49.5%), FLT3-TKD (42.8%) PTPN11 (24.8%), NRAS (22.7%) TET2 (21.7%), IDH2 (21.3%), IDH1 (18%), and FLT3-ITD (17.3%). DNMT3AR882 hotspot mutations occurred more frequently in younger pts (36.6% vs 17.1%), while there was no difference for DNMT3AnonR882 mutations between the two age groups (21.8% and 21.9%). An age-dependent difference was also identified for mutations in myelodysplasia-related genes ( ASXL1, BCOR, EZH2, RUNX1, SF3B1, SRSF2, STAG2, U2AF1, and ZRSR2) as defined by the ICC, occurring with a higher incidence in older pts (30.3% vs 12.3% in younger pts). Analyzing the mutational pattern of co-mutations, we found statistically significant tertiary gene-gene interactions: e.g., NPM1- NFE2- STAG2 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- IDH2- SRSF2 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- CEBPA- TET2 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- DNMT3AR882- NRAS (p=.002), and NPM1- ASXL1- SRSF2 (p=.004); mutual exclusivities were identified for NPM1- DNMT3AR882- DNMT3AnonR882 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- IDH2- TET2 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- DNMT3AR882- SRSF2 (p&lt;.001), NPM1- IDH1- TET2 (p&lt;.001), and NPM1- FLT3-ITD- KRAS (p&lt;.002). Correlating co-mutation data with outcome, we found that DNMT3AR882 hotspot mutations confer inferior event-free (EFS) and overall survival (OS) only in younger pts (EFS, p&lt;.001 vs p=.11, Figure 1a; OS, p=.003 vs p=.8), whereas DNMT3AnonR882 mutations did not impact prognosis within the two age groups. We also found a negative prognostic impact of IDH1 mutations which was restricted to younger pts (EFS, p=.05), whereas IDH2 mutations were associated with superior EFS in older pts (p=.04) and superior OS in both groups (p=.05 and p=.03). Of note, co-mutations occurring in one or more of the myelodysplasia-related genes did not impact EFS or OS (Figure 1b). In multivariable analysis (all pts) including age, WBC, LDH, allogeneic transplantation in CR1, and mutations with an incidence of at least 3% as covariables, age (HR,1.03; p&lt;.001), DNMT3AR882 (HR, 1.86; p&lt;.001), FLT3-ITD (HR, 1.54; p=.012), IDH1 (HR, 1.48; p=.009), MYC (HR, 1.83; p=.032), and WT1 (HR, 1.73; p=.012), were associated with an inferior EFS, while SMC3 mutation showed favorable EFS (HR, 0.44; p=.019). To further study the leukemogenic trajectories, we used an oncogenetic tree modeling algorithm, which yielded a tree with several main branches including DNMT3AR882, DNMT3AnonR882, FLT3-TKD , IDH1, IDH2, PTPN11, and TET2. These mutations might represent initiating events which predispose to additional events with further distinct branches. Conclusions: Our study provides comprehensive data on the genomic landscape and its clinical impact in pts with NPM1mut AML fit for intensive chemotherapy. The co-mutational pattern clearly differs between younger and older NPM1 mutAML pts. Using this large dataset allowed the identification of secondary and tertiary gene-gene interactions with significant impact on outcome. Further data analysis is ongoing and will be presented at the meeting.

e20675 Background: Prognostic value of comorbidity at diagnosis has received increasing attention. We studied whether the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CMI), Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (CIRS), Kaplan Feinstein Index (KFI), and/or VA Comorbidity Scale (VA) independently predicted survival for NSCLC patients Methods: In an IRB approved protocol, the charts of 101 patients with Stage IIIA, IIIB or IV Non small cell lung cancer seen from 2004 through 2006 at a VA medical center were reviewed of whom 94 have already died. Comorbidity scores ECOG performance status (PS), stage, number of treatments, serum LDH, and albumin levels were obtained or coded from medical records. Survival analyses were performed using proportional hazards models. Results: Median (M) patient age was 69 years (range 51–88), the M ECOG PS was 1 (range 0–4); 13 (13%) had stage IIIA, 27 (26%) IIB and 62 (61%) IV. The M number of treatments was 1 (range 0–6). Histologies were adenocarcinoma in 48 (48%) pts, squamous cell in 37 (37%) pts, and other 17 (15%) pts. The M survival was 207 days (range 4–1785 days). The Median (and ranges) were: 4.2 (1.2–12.8) for CMI, 3 (0–6) for CIRS15, 5(0–11) for CIRS16, 1.8 (0–4) for CIRS17, 0(0–1) for CIRS18, 2 (0–3) for KFI, and 4 (0–8) for VA. The M albumin was 3.7 (range 1.9–5.3) and LDH 201 (range 104–1036). In univariate survival analyses, the stage (p<0.001), ECOG PS (p<0.001), albumin (p<0.003), and the CIRS 17 (p <0.052) were predictive of survival; when, however, bisected by median values, the VA scale (p<0.027), ECOG PS (p<0.052) and albumin (p<.0017) were significantly related to survival but age, LDH, CMI, KFI and subscales of the CIRS (CIRS 16, CIRS 17, CIRS18) were not related to survival. In multivariate proportional hazards analyses that included stage and a comorbidity index, the CIRS16 (p<.032) was an independent predictor of survival; the combinations of stage (p<0.008), ECOG PS (p<.004), stage (p<.006) and albumin (p<.002) were independent predictors of survival. Conclusions: In this small sample, current comorbidity indices did not add to determinations of survival of veterans with advanced NSCLC. Further research is needed in a larger sample. A revisão do estado da arte na área de Política, Planejamento e Gestão em Saúde (PPGS) é primordial para o desenvolvimento de estudos científicos, pois permite conhecer tendências, lacunas e desafios que se colocam para os pesquisadores, estudantes e gestores do sistema de saúde. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo delinear o perfil da produção científica a respeito dos Planos Municipais de saúde, considerando as dissertações e teses de doutorado. A pesquisa foi conduzida mediante a adoção da abordagem bibliométrica. A escolha da amostra está baseada em teses e dissertações. Nesse sentido, apropriou-se das publicações disponíveis no banco de teses do Portal de Periódicos da Capes/MEC. Na presente pesquisa foram analisados 10 trabalhos, sendo 09 dissertações e 01 tese de doutorado, houve concentração de trabalhos entre os anos de 2016 e 2020, a área de conhecimento ficou dividida entre Saúde Pública e Administração e planejamento em saúde, a metodologia mais utilizado foi a qualitativa, com análise documental e entrevistas semiestruturados, com abordagem metodológica em estudo de caso. Ficou evidente na pesquisa, o pouco envolvimento das universidades para pesquisar a respeito da temática.
