This article assesses the biological, technical, energy, environmental and economic potential of straw on farms in Leżajsk Municipality, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland. The analysis included selected farms of non-livestock, crop-only, and crop and livestock production types. The research shows that farms with a vegetable and animal production (average 513.0 and 471.7 t.ha-1) had a higher biological and technical potential of straw than non-livestock farms (average 344.4 and 321.6 t.ha-1). The energy potential of straw on the farms examined was 47,598.0 GJ and varied between 1,618.5 and 11,979.0 GJ, and was 31.8% higher on farms with both vegetable and animal production than on farms only. Switching from traditional fuel (coal) to straw can reduce CO2 emissions on the farms studied by 4,336.7 tons. For all farms (except farm No. 8) the investment in the purchase of a biomass boiler, financed by the sale of surplus straw left after its use for energy purposes, is profitable.

Structural parameters like size, Sersic index, total luminosity and ellipticity are important tools to study galaxy formation and evolution. This work studies a compact dwarf galaxy CG 0325, originated from a merger, and performs a detailed analysis of morphological parameters. The galaxy size is derived by using two different methods, i.e., parametric and non-parametric. The parametric uses the Sersic modeling, but it is found that the observed light profile of CG 0325 cannot be modeled with a simple Sersic function. This is, however, common in merging feature galaxies. Therefore, for further analysis, the half-light radius derived from the non-parametric method can be used as the size of the galaxy. CG 0315 is far more compact than a typical galaxy. We measured its effective radius of 4.05 arcseconds and half-light radius of 2.60 arcseconds that corresponds to a physical value of 221 parsec. Its ratio between the minor and major axis is 0.82, and the position angle is 179 degrees to the North. The star formation rate of the galaxy is 0.051Mʘ year-1. We conclude from these observational data that CG 0315 will continue to be a compact dwarf galaxy when star formation stops and transforms into a well-known compact elliptical galaxy. Therefore, CG 0315 might be a progenitor of an elliptical galaxy.

The spread of the COVID-19 virus was met by a strict lockdown in many countries around the world, with the closure of all physical activity (PA) facilities and limitations on moving around freely. The aim of the present online survey was to assess the effect of lockdown on physical activity in Italy. Physical activity was assessed using the European Health Interview Survey questionnaire. A total of 1500 datasets were analyzed. Differences between conditions were tested with a chi2-based (χ2) test for categorical variables, and with the Student’s t-test for paired data. A fixed effects binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify relevant predictor variables to explain the compliance with World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations. We found a substantial decline in all physical activity measures. Mean differences in walking and cycling metabolic equivalent of task minutes per week (METmin/week), respectively, were 344.4 (95% confidence interval (95% CI): 306.6–382.2; p < 0.001) and 148.5 (95% CI: 123.6–173.5; p < 0.001). Time spent in leisure time decreased from 160.8 to 112.6 min/week (mean difference 48.2; 95% CI: 40.4–56.0; p < 0.001). Compliance with WHO recommendations decreased from 34.9% to 24.6% (chi2 (1, 3000) = 38.306, p < 0.001, V = 0.11). Logistic regression showed a reduced chance (OR 0.640, 95% CI: 0.484–0.845; p = 0.001) to comply with WHO PA recommendations under lockdown conditions. Measures to promote physical activity should be intensified to limit detrimental health effects.

AbstractThe stability change of nickel(II) ion complexes including one and two nicotinamide (B3 vitamin) molecules in aqueous dimethyl sulfoxide (XDMSO = 0–0.85 m.f.) was studied at 298.2±0.1 K and 0.25 ionic strength value (NaClO4) using the potentiometric method. The first stage constant of complexation increased until organic solvent concentration was 0.5 m.f. and reduced at higher DMSO content. The difference between complex and central ions solvation is a dominating contribution into the Gibbs energy change of mononicotinamide complex formation reaction. When the second ligand molecule was bonded into the coordination compound, the nicotinamide contribution to ΔtrGr rose and became prevailing at XDMSO = 0.7–0.85. The ligand was found to replace a water molecule in the coordination sphere of the cation according to spectrophotometric study results.

Annotation:
Antiphospholipid antibodies are directed against phospholipid-protein complexes and include lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies, and anti–beta-2 glycoprotein I antibodies. Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome is a common cause of acquired thrombophilia and is characterized by venous or arterial thromboembolism or pregnancy morbidity and the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies. Antibodies should be demonstrable on at least 2 occasions separated by 12 weeks. Heterogeneity of the autoantibodies and absence of gold standard assays makes interpretation of laboratory results a challenge for both laboratorians and clinicians. This review discusses the key laboratory and clinical aspects of antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Particular focus is given to lupus anticoagulant detection, in view of recently updated laboratory guidelines.

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In India, , as per mandate of hon'ble Supreme Court of India for reduction of emission due to vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG) powered city buses and passengers cars are in use since 2000. Their usage is limited to metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc. due to limitation of CNG storage and dispensing infrastructure along with low energy density storage. High energy density liquid form of natural gas storage (LNG) can overcome these difficulties and promising in near future. Simultaneously, there is a need for development of efficient fuel storage system, fuel supply system, engine optimization &amp; calibration, engine lubricant etc. suitable for implementation of LNG for automotive application. In this background, the present work is aimed at the framework of engine testing facility, development of dedicated lubricant and performance of the engine for LNG application.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes LNG engine test lab standard operating procedure developed during the LNG internal combustion engine dynamometer testing programme. Due to safety requirement, it is neither advisable nor permissible to connect large LNG cryogenic tankers to engine test bench. Hence, state of the art small &amp; portable cryogenic LNG tank (450 Lit water capacity (WC)) comprised of vacuum and super insulated layered configuration manufactured as per International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 21029-1 and type tested according to ISO-12991 was designed as horizontal tank to transport LNG from large LNG cryogenic tanker to engine testing site. Bharat Stage (BS) VI emission standard complied LNG engine testing facility was developed and forced convection heat transfer methodology applied for avoiding icing at re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) fuel line.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents the development of dedicated lubricant for LNG fuelled heavy duty (HD) engine and establishment of oil drain interval and evaluation was done on 6-cylinder HD engine using LNG fuel. The engine was optimized for using LNG fuel. Initial performance of the engine using LNG was compared vis-à-vis CNG and, thereafter, the engine was subjected to endurance test of 1500 hours as per engine simulated driving cycle that closely represents road drive conditions to validate the technology and to establish the drain interval of lubricant. Further, to access the actual performance, limited field trials of 30,000 Km with LNG fuelled busses have been completed. It has been observed that LNG shows reduction of CO, THC and CH4 emissions and NOx emissions increased as compared to CNG. However, these values meet the BS VI emission norms. Oil sampling and analysis were undertaken after completion of every 100 hrs along with performance of the engine i.e. Power (kW), Torque (Nm) and brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) (g/kWh) and emission characteristics. Engine performance was found satisfactory during endurance test. Developed engine oil demonstrated excellent behavior with LNG fuel and used engine oil physicochemical properties i.e. Kinematic viscosity@100°C, Total Base number (TBN), Total acid number (TAN), oxidation, nitration and wear elements (Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Aluminum (AL), Lead (Pb)) were reported well within the permissible limit. The study shows that the lubricant can be used for LNG application.</div></div>
