Children’s cancer is par excellence a disease of a multidisciplinary nature. It is therefore unrealistic to expect a single person with a single qualification to have the skills and capabilities to carry out a comprehensive assessment and institute competent interventions in all these areas. Decisions and interventions will be in accordance with the decision of the multidisciplinary committee of therapeutic indications.According to the WHO, every year approximately 400,000 children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 19 develop cancer. The most common childhood cancers include leukemias, brain cancers, lymphomas, and solid tumors such as neuroblastoma and Wilms tumors [1, 2, 3]. In 2019 globally there were 291.3 thousand new cases and 98.8 thousand deaths from childhood cancer worldwide, with a prevalence of 1.8 million [4]. However, the 5-year survival of childhood cancer patients has increased impressively to more than 80% in recent decades, mainly attributed to improved diagnostic technologies and multiagent cytotoxic regimens.

The catalytic transfer hydrogenation of biomass-derived furfural to furfuryl alcohol under mild conditions is an attractive topic in biorefinery. Herein, mesoporous Zr-containing hybrids (Zr-hybrids) with a high surface area (281.9–291.3 m2/g) and large pore volume (0.49–0.74 cm3/g) were prepared using the biomass-derived 5-sulfosalicylic acid as a ligand, and they were proved to be highly efficient for the Meerwein–Ponndorf–Verley reduction of furfural to furfuryl alcohol at 110 °C, with the highest furfuryl alcohol yield reaching up to 97.8%. Characterizations demonstrated that sulfonic and carboxyl groups in 5-sulfosalicylic acid molecules were coordinated with zirconium ions, making zirconium ions fully dispersed, thus leading to the formation of very fine zirconia particles with the diameter of <2 nm in mesoporous Zr-hybrids. The interaction between the 5-sulfosalicylic acid ligands and zirconium ions endowed mesoporous Zr-hybrids with relatively higher acid strength but lower base strength, which was beneficial for the selective reduction of furfural to furfuryl alcohol. A recycling study was performed over a certain mesoporous Zr-hybrid, namely meso-Zr-SA15, demonstrating that the yield and selectivity of furfuryl alcohol remained almost unchanged during the five consecutive reaction cycles. This study provides an optional method to prepare hybrid catalysts for biomass refining by using biomass-derived feedstock.

Synthetic zeolite-A (ZA) was hybridized with two different biopolymers (chitosan and β-cyclodextrin) producing biocompatible chitosan/zeolite-A (CS/ZA) and β-cyclodextrin/zeolite-A (CD/ZA) biocomposites. The synthetic composites were assessed as bio-carriers of the 5-fluorouracil drug (5-Fu) with enhanced properties, highlighting the impact of the polymer type. The hybridization by the two biopolymers resulted in notable increases in the 5-Fu loading capacities, to 218.2 mg/g (CS/ZA) and 291.3 mg/g (CD/ZA), as compared to ZA (134.2 mg/g). The loading behaviors using ZA as well as CS/ZA and CD/ZA were illustrated based on the classic kinetics properties of pseudo-first-order kinetics (R2 > 0.95) and the traditional Langmuir isotherm (R2 = 0.99). CD/ZA shows a significantly higher active site density (102.7 mg/g) in comparison to CS/ZA (64 mg/g) and ZA (35.8 mg/g). The number of loaded 5-Fu per site of ZA, CS/ZA, and CD/ZA (>1) validates the vertical ordering of the loaded drug ions by multi-molecular processes. These processes are mainly physical mechanisms based on the determined Gaussian energy (<8 kJ/mol) and loading energy (<40 kJ/mol). Both the CS/ZA and CD/ZA 5-Fu release activities display continuous and controlled profiles up to 80 h, with CD/ZA exhibiting much faster release. According to the release kinetics studies, the release processes contain non-Fickian transport release properties, suggesting cooperative diffusion and erosion release mechanisms. The cytotoxicity of 5-Fu is also significantly enhanced by these carriers: 5-Fu/ZA (11.72% cell viability), 5-Fu/CS/ZA (5.43% cell viability), and 5-Fu/CD/ZA (1.83% cell viability).

Objectives The objective of this study was to investigate current perception and expected price of personal sound amplification products (PSAPs) and to analyze influencing factors through multi-center hospital-based surveys of outpatients, caregivers, and hearing experts. Methods A multi-center exploratory cross-sectional study was conducted in two groups of respondents with two separate surveys: 1) a perception survey of patients and caregivers who visited an otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinic in 5 general hospitals and 2) an opinion survey of hearing specialists about the expected price of PSAPs. A total of 197 outpatient visitors responded to the perception survey, and 42 hearing specialists responded to the opinion survey. Results Overall perception score (18 questions) was 3.04 (95% CI, 3.00–3.09). When 5 categories of perception (knowledge, needs, cost, expectation, and information categories) were analyzed, cost and expectation showed the highest scores of 3.33 (95% CI, 3.21–3.44) and 3.33 (95% CI, 3.27–3.40), respectively, and needs showed the lowest score of 2.23 (95% CI, 1.97–2.49). The ≥ 60-year-old group showed significantly higher perception of PSAPs (P = 0.002), and the individuals with greater severity of subjective hearing loss showed significantly higher perception of PSAPs (P = 0.002). The expected price of PSAPs of the outpatient visitors was 933.9 USD (95% CI, 811.9–1056.0) per ear. Mean expected price of PSAPs of hearing specialists was 291.3 USD (95% CI, 238.2–344.3) per ear. Conclusion The perception rate of PSAPs was very low, and there was a discrepancy in the expected price of PSAPs between patients/caregivers and hearing experts. Hearing specialists should make effort to improve perception of PSAPs.

The following compounds were prepared by cocrystallization of their components from MeOH or MeCN and structurally characterized by low-temperature X-ray diffraction: Na[N(SO2Me)2]·HN(SO2Me)2·2 (12-crown-4) (2, orthorhombic, space group Pna21). Na[N(SO2Me)·HN(SO2Me)·(15-crown-5) (3, monoclinic. P21/n), Na[N(SO2Ph)2] · HN(SO2Ph)2 · 2 (12-crown-4) (4. monoclinic. P21). (MeNH)2COHN(SO2Ph)2·0.5 MeCN (5, monoclinic. P21/n). The four structures exhibit [(RSO2)2N-H ··· N(SO2R)2]- anions as rare examples of intermolecular [N-H ···N]- homo- conjugates. The N ··· N distances of the asymmetric hydrogen bonds are. in order. 266.9(6). 276.0(3). 291.3(4) and 279.4(2) pm. the corresponding N-H···N angles amounting to 137(10), 176(3), 177(4) and 177(2)°. The asymmetry of the hydrogen bonds is clearly reflected in the geometry of the NS2 groups (amine moieties: N-S 162.3-165.2 pm. S-N-S 124.5-127.1°; amide moieties: N-S 159.7-161.8 pm. S-N-S 119.1-122.6°). The dihedral angles formed by the NS2 planes vary from 51.8° in 4 to 87.6° in 5. The crystal lattices of 2 and 4 consist of discrete ions, sandwich-type [Na(12-crown-4)2]+ complexes acting as the counter-ions. In 3. Na+ is coordinated in an out-of-cavity pattern by the five polyether oxygen atoms and further accepts two Na-O bonds from the amide moiety of the complex anion [Na-O(crown) 241.5(2)-249.9(2), Na-O(anion) 235.0(2) and 263.9(2) pm]. Thе surprising structure of 5 contains homoconjugated 1.3-dimethylurea cations [(MeNH)2C-O-H ··· O=C(NHMe)2]+, which are formed via a very strong asymmetric [O-H ···O]+ hydrogen bond [О···О 247.7(2) pm. O-H ··· O 172(3)°] and are associated with the amide moieties of the anions through a set of N-H···О bonds to form infinite chains: the MeCN molecules occupy lattice cavities.

Product simulation programs with DSSAT are based on the principle of predicting the potentials of yield and other phenological parameters of wheat varieties with different fertilizer application doses in different climatic and soil conditions. For this purpose, different wheat varieties (Bayraktar, Tosunbey) were used in order to test the use of the DSSAT simulation model in semi-arid conditions in the Ikizce experimental area of the Haymana District of Ankara Province, Field Crops Central Research Institute, during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 periods. The aim of this study is to predict yield in wheat varieties (Bayraktar, Tosunbey) using CERES and CROPGRO sub-models of DSSAT v.4.7.5 simulation model. In the study, the model was run at different nitrogen application doses (0, 6, 12, 18 kg/da) to reveal the yield prediction potential of the wheat cultivars in semi-arid conditions. For the calibration of the model, the grain yield, plant height and Leaf area index (LAI) data obtained were used in the first year of wheat development stage.The accuracy of the model, which was calibrated with the first year data, was tested with the second year data. For Bayraktar variety, the average measured yield obtained from different nitrogen dose applications (N0,N6,N18) for the 2017-2018 period is 373.3 kg/da, the simulated yield is 373.7 kg/da (N12 dose is neglected), the measured yield for 2018-2019 300. 5 kg/da, the simulated yield was found to be 291.3 kg/da.For the Tosunbey variety, the average yield measured for the 2017-2018 period was 370.0 kg/da, the simulated yield was 338.0 kg/da, the measured yield for the 2018-2019 year was 217.58 kg/da, and the estimated yield was 237.83 kg/da.

В статье исследуются проблемы применения нормы, закрепляющей уголовную ответственность за посредничество во взяточничестве, обусловленные несовершенством законодательной конструкции ст. 291.1 УК РФ. Автор рассматривает основные формы посредничества во взяточничестве: физическое и интеллектуальное. Особое внимание уделяется признаку значительного размера предмета взятки, который имеет принципиальное значение для оценки деяния по данной статье. Отмечается, что, согласно действующей редакции ст. 291.1 УК РФ, осуществление посредничества в даче или получении взятки в размере, не превышающем 25 тыс. руб., не может образовать указанный состав преступления. Подчеркивается, что посредничество во взяточничестве при отсутствии признака значительного размера не может образовывать соучастие в получении или даче взятки. В связи с этим автор считает нецелесообразным указание на значительный размер в ч. 1 ст. 291.1 УК РФ. Также в статье рассматривается проблема расширительного толкования физического посредничества в даче и (или) получении взятки. Анализируются положения ч. 5 ст. 291.1 УК РФ, в которой устанавливается уголовная ответственность за обещание или предложение посредничества во взяточничестве. Автор отмечает, что необоснованность отсутствия указания в ч. 5 ст. 291.1 УК РФ на значительный размер предмета взятки позволяет говорить об установлении уголовной ответственности за приготовление к посредничеству во взяточничестве независимо от размера предмета взятки. В связи с этим предлагается исключить из уголовного закона ч. 5 ст. 291.1.

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) plasma at different pressures, powers, and times was used to treat Kraft paper (KP) to enhance its water resistance. The KP was treated with SF6 plasma from 20–300 mTorr of pressure at powers from 25–75 Watts and treatment times from 1–30 min at 13.56 MHz. The prepared papers were characterized by contact angle measurement and water absorption. The selected optimum condition for the plasma-treated KP was 200 mTorr at 50 Watts for 5 min. Advancement with the change in treatment times (3, 5, and 7 min) on the physical and mechanical properties, water resistance, and morphology of KP with SF6 plasma at 200 mTorr and 50 Watts was evaluated. The changes in the chemical compositions of the plasma-treated papers were analyzed with an XPS analysis. The treatment times of 0, 3, 5, and 7 min revealed fluorine/carbon (F/C) atomic concentration percentages at 0.00/72.70, 40.48/40.97, 40.18/37.95, and 45.72/39.48, respectively. The XPS spectra showed three newly raised peaks at 289.7~289.8, 291.5~291.7, and 293.4~293.6 eV in the 3, 5, and 7 min plasma-treated KPs belonging to the CF, CF2, and CF3 moieties. The 5 min plasma-treated paper promoted a better interaction between the SF6 plasma and the paper yielded by the F atoms. As the treatment time for the treated KPs increased, the contact angle, water absorption time, and Cobb test values increased. However, the thickness and tensile strength did not show remarkable changes. The SEM images revealed that, as the treatment time increased, the surface roughness of the plasma-treated KPs also increased, leading to improved water resistance properties. Overall, the SF6 plasma treatment modified the surface at the nano-layer range, creating super-hydrophobicity surfaces.

The article examines the problems of applying the norm, fixing the criminal liability for intermediation in bribery, due to the imperfection of the legislative structure 291.1 of the Criminal Code. The author considers the main forms of intermediation in bribery: physical and intellectual. Particular attention is paid to the sign of a significant size of the subject of the bribe, which is of fundamental importance for assessing the act under this article. It is noted that according to the current version of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code intermediation in giving or receiving a bribe in an amount not exceeding 25 thousand rubles cannot form the specified corpus delicti. It is emphasized that intermediation in bribery in the absence of a sign of significant size cannot form complicity in receiving or giving a bribe. In this regard the author considers it inappropriate to indicate a significant amount in part 1 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code. The article also considers the problem of a broad interpretation of physical intermediation in giving and (or) receiving a bribe. The provisions of Part 5 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code, which establish criminal liability for a promise or offer of inter mediation in bribery, are analysed. The author notes that the groundlessness of the lack of guidance in Part 5 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on a significant size of the subject of a bribe allows us to talk about the establishment of criminal liability for preparation for intermediation in bribery, regardless of the size of the subject of a bribe. In this regard it is proposed to exclude part 5 of Art. 291.1 from the Criminal Code.

Background: End-stage heart failure (HF) is refractory to current standard medical therapy, and the number of donor hearts is insufficient to meet the demand for transplantation. Recent studies suggest autologous stem cell therapy may regenerate cardiomyocytes, stimulate neovascularization, and improve cardiac function and clinical status. Although human fetal-derived stem cells (HFDSCs) have been studied for the treatment of a variety of conditions, no clinical studies have been reported to date on their use in treating HF. We sought to determine the efficacy and safety of HFDSC treatment in HF patients.Methods and Results: Direct myocardial transplantation of HFDSCs by open-chest surgical procedure was performed in 10 patients with HF due to nonischemic, nonchagasic dilated cardiomyopathy. Before and after the procedure, and with no changes in their preoperative doses of medications (digoxin, furosemide, spironolactone, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, betablockers), patients were assessed for New York Heart Association (NYHA) class, performance in the exercise tolerance test (ETT), ejection fraction (EF), left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD) via transthoracic echocardiography, performance in the 6-minute walk test, and performance in the Minnesota congestive HF test. All 10 patients survived the operation. One patient had a stroke 3 days after the procedure, and although she later recovered, she was unable to perform the follow-up tests. Another male patient experienced pericardial effusion 3 weeks after the procedure. Although it resolved spontaneously, the patient abandoned his control tests and died 5 months after the procedure. An autopsy of the myocardium suggested that new young cells were present in the cardiomyocyte mix. At 40 months, the mean (SD) NYHA class decreased from 3.4 0.5 to 1.33 0.5 (P = .001); the mean EF increased 31%, from 26.6% 4% to 34.8% 7.2% (P = .005); and the mean ETT increased 291.3%, from 4.25 minutes to 16.63 minutes (128.9% increase in metabolic equivalents, from 2.46 to 5.63) (P < .0001); the mean LVEDD decreased 15%, from 6.85 0.6 cm to 5.80 0.58 cm (P < .001); mean performance in the 6-minute walk test increased by 43.2%, from 251 113.1 seconds to 360 0 seconds (P = .01); the mean distance increased 64.4%, from 284.4 144.9 m to 468.2 89.8 m (P = .004); and the mean result in the Minnesota test decreased from 71 27.3 to 6 5.9 (P < .001).Conclusion: Although these initial findings suggest direct myocardial implantation of HFDSCs is feasible and improves cardiac function in HF patients at 40 months, more clinical research is required to confirm these observations.
