DAVID, PATRICK, GERNOT VOGEL und ALAIN DUBOIS. „On the need to follow rigorously the Rules of the Code for the subsequent designation of a nucleospecies (type species) for a nominal genus which lacked one: the case of the nominal genus Trimeresurus Lacépède, 1804 (Reptilia: Squamata: Viperidae)“. Annotation:
This paper analyzes the consequences of the non-respect of the Rules of the Code to ascertain the valid subsequent designation of the nucleospecies (type species) of the nominal genus Trimeresurus Lacépède, 1804. The long accepted designation was invalid because it was based on a nominal species which was not among the prenucleospecies (originally included species) of the nominal genus. In contrast with the commonly accepted viewpoint which makes the Indian taxon Coluber gramineus Shaw, 1802 the nucleospecies of the genus, we show that this role is played by Trimeresurus viridis Lacépède, 1804, a species inhabiting the Lesser Sunda Islands and Timor and, as a nomen oblitum, a senior synonym of Trimeresurus albolabris insularis Kramer, 1977, a taxon now considered a distinct species. The important nomenclatural implications of this finding are discussed here, especially with regard to the recent splitting of the genus Trimeresurus. The generic nomen Trimeresurus should be associated with the Trimeresurus albolabris group of species currently placed in the genus or subgenus Cryptelytrops Cope, 1860. A lectophoront (lectotype) is selected and described for Trimeresurus viridis Lacépède, 1804. Coluber viridis Bechstein, 1802 is an invalid objective junior synonym of Coluber gramineus Shaw, 1802. The current content of the genus Trimeresurus and of its eight subgenera is provided. Some clarifications or improvements to the Code are suggested.

Nomenclatural notes are presented for a few Diptera genus-group names of P.A. Latreille. Gonypes Latreille [Asilidae] is foundto be available from 1804 and not 1805 with no change in type species designation. Molobrus Latreille [Sciaridae] is found tobe available from 1804 and not 1805, and its type species, Tipula thomae Linnaeus, 1767 is fixed by invoking Article 70.3 ofthe ICZN Code, which maintains its junior synonymy under Sciara Meigen, 1803. Oligotrophus Latreille [Cecidomyiidae] isfound to be available from 1804 and not 1805 with no change in type species designation. The earliest valid subsequent typedesignation from originally included species was found for Pangonius Latreille [Tabanidae] to be Tabanus proboscideusFabricius, 1794 by Ersch & Gruber in 1838. Voluccella Fabricius, 1794 is deemed to be an available name (not an incorrectsubsequent spelling of Volucella Geoffroy, 1762) and thus has priority over Usia Latreille, 1802. In order to maintain stabilityof nomenclature and prevailing usage, reversal of precedence is invoked (ICZN Code Article 23.9.2) and Usia Latreille is conserved as a nomen protectum and Voluccella Fabricius, 1794 is treated as a nomen oblitum.

The work of Meigen 1800 was suppressed by the ICZN Commission in 1963 for the purposes of zoological nomenclature. The work as such is still to be treated as having been published and it remains available as a source of published descriptions and illustrations. Therefore, while the names in Meigen (1800) are deemed unavailable, a subsequent usage of any of the names may be considered a novel proposal. We review the first post-Meigen 1800 occurrence of each name, its first date of availability and authorship, and determine status and synonymy. Designations of type species are given for the following genus-group names: Coryneta Hendel, 1908 [Hybotidae]; Cyanea Hendel, 1908 [Hippoboscidae]. Acting as First Reviser, we select the following as the correct original spelling from multiple original spellings: Calirrhoe Hendel, 1908. The result of this travel was the publication of the four-volume book “The Nomadic Roaming among Kalmyks in 1802–1803” by B. Bergman in 1804–1805 in Riga, this book is an important source of the information about the literature and culture of Kalmyks of the XIX century. Among the translations of the texts, this publication contains the translation of two songs of Geser from Kalmyk into German. This translation is the first translation of the Geser songs in Kalmykia. Goal. The goal of the article is to give to the fullest extent possible the bibliographic information about Benjamin Bergman as the researcher of the Kalmyk ethnos and highlight the nature of his translation of the two songs of Geser. Materials.Materials about Bergman family in German and four-volume book “The Nomadic Roaming among Kalmyks in 1802–1803” are used in the article. Results. In 1804–1805 on the results of the travel to the Kalmyk nomad roaming, Bergman published his famous four-volume work where he not only presented a lot of information about Kalmyks but also tried todispel several wrong perceptions about Kalmyks. His work is still relevant for the researchers of Kalmyk culture, history and literature. That is why it was republishedin Europe in 1969.

Introduction. The impact of Benjamin Bergmann — a renown religious figure, writer and translator — in Kalmyk folklore studies is immense. He authored the earliest European documented record of the Kalmyk heroic epic of Jangar, German translations of the Buddhist treatise titled ‘Mirror of Reality’ and two songs of the Gesar epic, thirteen folktales from the Siddhi Kür collection, etc. Goals. The article introduces B. Bergmann’s letters included in the 1804 German-language edition of his Nomadische Streifereien unter den Kalmȕken in den Jahren 1802 und 1803 (Germ. ‘Nomadic Wanderings among the Kalmyks in 1802–1803’) published in Riga. Materials. The study explores and translates into Russian the first six letters containing ethnographic observations. Results. B. Bergmann’s scholarly insights into religion, language, lifestyles, and history of the Kalmyks to have compiled the edition were to lay the foundation of his work at the Russian Imperial Academy of Sciences which unfortunately never happened. The meticulousness of his accounts and descriptions testify of his decent proficiency in ethnography and folklore investigations.

Four points are discussed in this paper. 1: A long lasting issue in the WL. This point tries to show that the WL in its different versions contains a demonstration of incompleteness as a necessary condition of human consciousness and forms of knowledge. The necessary form of the system of human experience is conditioned by the impossibility of a purely conceptual explanation of human knowing. 2.1: From the Grundlage to the Nova methodo. This point explains the main errors in the exposition of the Grundlage der gesamten Wissenschaftslehre, which led to the conception of the WL Nova methodo. 2.2: From the Nova methodo to the Exposition of 1801/1802. The main changes in the exposition of the WL 1801/1802 are discussed in the light of the new philosophical challenges from 1799 onwards. 2.3: The emergence of the Image theory in the first WL of 1804 is addressed in the last point. In accordance with the point 1 above, it is finally shown that Fichte’s Theory of image is both a transformed critical and transcendental philosophy, and an answer to questions raised in the preceding development of the WL.

Annotation:
This article studies some pedagogy for the uses and analysis of the late Romantic harmonic practice. It is the Elaboration Process, which the author developed from the compositional process in tonal music, that is employed for this pedagogy. The author says in this article that if the Elaboration Process is employed for the teaching of the late Romantic harmony, it is helpful for the understanding of nonfunctional harmony. The practice of the late Romantic harmony, in some aspects, is equivalent to the nonfunctional harmony. Musical examples used for Elaboration Process in this article are those passages from the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (1802-1804), Liszt’s Les Prelude (1848-1854), and Berlioz’s Symphonie fatastique (1830).

Introduction. In the Kalmyk Steppe, Benjamin Bergmann witnessed a wrestling contest held during the Kalmyk festivities of Ȕrs Sar. A corresponding description is contained in his eighth letter included in the four-volume work of his titled ‘Nomadische Streifereien unter den Kalmüken in den Jahren 1802 und 1803’ (‘Nomadic Travels among the Kalmyk in the Years 1802 and 1803’) and published in 1804–1805 in Riga. Goals. The paper aims at introducing data on essentials and rules of Kalmyk wrestling described by B. Bergmann in his landmark book mentioned above. Results. The scrupulous translation of the letter by B. Bergmann confirms the opinions of researchers that Kalmyk national wrestling was (and still is) distinguished from Mongolian and Buryat ones in terms of rules: the combat was over only after one of the wrestlers was seen down on his back. Conclusions. The introduced translation of B. Bergmann’s letter shows his four-volume treatise still remains a topical source on Kalmyk culture and customs of the past. A complete translation of the work would become most useful to further historical, ethnological and folklore studies of the 19th-century Kalmyks.

Annotation:
From 1804 to 1809, the slaveholding Napoleonic regime of General Jean-Louis Ferrand attempted to erase the gains of the era of French Republican emancipation (1793-1802) by re-enslaving thousands of individuals in Santo Domingo (modern Dominican Republic). This article examines the aims and methods of the Ferrand regime, situating it within the contexts of the birth of independent Haiti and the resurgence of institutionalized racism and slavery in the French world. Using governmental correspondence, notarial acts, and other sources, I argue that those targeted by Ferrand’s racist laws and efforts to re-impose slavery devised innovative means of carving out their own versions of freedom. The article centers on the ways in which “slaves” and colonial officials negotiated the meanings of slavery in a context in which the institution’s legality was unclear.

Introduction. In 1802–1803, Benjamin Bergmann made a trip to the Kalmyk steppes to collect historical, literary, and folklore material on the Kalmyks and the Kalmyk culture. The result of this journey was the 1804–1805 publication of “Nomadische Streifereien unter den Kalmüken in den Jahren 1802 und 1803” (Nomadic wanderings among Kalmyks in 1802–1803) in Riga, which up to the present day has not lost its importance as a source of information on the culture and life of the Kalmyks in the 18th and 19th centuries. The four-volume work contains translations of various texts from Kalmyk into German, including the two songs of the “Geser” epos. This is in fact the earliest translation of “Geser” songs into a European language. Data. The German translation of the two “Geser” songs published by Bergmann in his work has been used as the material for the present research. The aim of the article. Bergmann’s translation of the songs is often mentioned in scholarly publications, but so far, no Russian translation of the songs in full has been made. To facilitate the research of the Oirat-Kalmyk “Geser” and especially of the songs in question, this article presents their scientific translation into Russian made by the present author. Also, the article discusses the character of the Kalmyk originals of the epic songs. So far it has been believed that an oral retelling was the source for the German translation of the songs. However, there is sufficient evidence for a new hypothesis because the analysis of the data undertaken in this study indicates that apparently there was a written Oirat source for the translation. Conclusions. Besides the complete Russian translation of the “Geser” sagas offered here, the article puts forward the hypothesis of the written nature of the original source, which served as the basis for Bergmann’s German translation.

The present work aims to show the academic production of three great thinkers, Harriet Martineau (1802-1876), Flora Tristan (1803-1804) and Marianne Weber (1870-1954), erased from the history of the development of sociology as a scientific and who had considerable contributions in debating topics that are still of interest to sociologists and social scientists, such as the relationship between the researcher and the object, the female condition, neutrality of knowledge, religion, among others considered fundamental for the development of sociological knowledge. To achieve this objective, we will use bibliographies that help us to think about the questions posed by these thoughts, and their main research themes, as well as authors that help us to critically think about the formation of sociological thought, showing that its structuring is much broader than weigh only through the canons reveal to us.

As such, he helped Georges Cuvier in his anatomical researches, and from 1797 onwards he copied out his lectures; later, starting from 1802, he took the place of Cuvier to teach Natural History. Cuvier was grateful and stimulated him to work at the Paris Museum. Cuvier was convincing and effective: on June 16, 1803, he could offer Duméril a position as assistant of Lacepède1, who was head of the herpetological and ichthyological department of zoology. In his turn, Duméril had to be thankful, and he wrote a Traité d’Histoire Naturelle (1804), in which his “friend” Cuvier was greatly acknowledged; the author made clear that this work was a Cuvier’s “order”.

Survey conducted on the ant diversity in the Kerala University Campus revealed a total 64 species under six subfamilies. Species belonging to the Myrmicinae dominated (51.5%) followed by Formicinae (20.6%), Ponerinae (13.2%), Dolichoderinae (4.4%), Pseudomyrmicinae (4.4%) and Dorylinae (1.5%). Endemic species Camponotus invidus Forel, 1892 , Cardiocondyla parvinoda Forel, 1902, Carebara spinata Bharti & Kumar, 2013 and Tetramorium rossi (Bolton, 1976) were recorded in the campus. Anoplolepis gracilipes (Smith, 1857), Paratrechina longicornis (Latreille, 1802), Monomorium carbonarium Smith 1858, Solenopsis geminate (Fabricius, 1804), Strumigenys membranifera Emery, 1869, Tetramorium bicarinatum (Nylander, 1846) and Hypoponera ragusai (Emery, 1894) (introduced species) were found in the campus. The results showed that the campus is rich in ant diversity. The sites with human interference showed less diversity. A potential new species in the genus Lepisiota was recorded. Trichomyrmex abberans, Carebara spinata, Crematogaster anthracina, Crematogaster biroi and Nylanderia indica are new records.

Irish physician Sir Matthew John Tierney (1776–1845) was a vaccine pioneer who learnt the procedure directly from Edward Jenner in Gloucestershire. In 1802 Tierney completed an MD at Glasgow on vaccination and moved to Brighton, where he was appointed physician to the Prince of Wales (the future King George IV). This paper considers Tierney’s role in the foundation of the 1804 Sussex Vaccine Institution. Tierney was the first president of the Institution’s Medical Council. His leadership lay in his knowledge of vaccination (including transporting cowpox material) and his close relationship with the Prince of Wales. The Institution’s official name was the Royal Sussex Jennerian Society for the Extermination of the Small-pox and offered vaccination at 16 stations across the county and one in Kent. Vaccination was undertaken by local surgeons at their houses at set hours. In its first year, the Institution vaccinated 946 individuals, of whom 509 for free. Despite this, concerns were raised over uptake by poorer members of society. The Institution’s Brighton station was probably absorbed into the new 1809 dispensary. Tierney’s promotion of vaccination and instructions for new practitioners represent the embryonic beginnings of evidence-based medicine and modern medical education in Brighton.

Arend Friedrich August Wiegmann (1802–1841), who was based at Zoologisches Museum in Berlin, is most closely associated with Mexican herpetology through his publication of Herpetologia Mexicana (1834). However, he also made substantial contributions to the study of reptiles and amphibians of other regions, particularly South America and Asia. These were based on collections made by Franz Julius Ferdinand Meyen (1804–1840) on a journey around the world during 1830–1832 and were published as the “Amphibien” section of Meyen's Reise um die Erde. The dating of this work has been especially problematic and several versions of the paper exist. A combination of sources of evidence, both intrinsic and extrinsic to Wiegmann's own publications, strongly suggests that the date of publication of this work is late 1834, that a book version of the paper predated the more widely cited paper in Nova acta, and that all versions of Reise um die Erde postdate Herpetologia Mexicana. An annotated bibliography of Wiegmann's 29 herpetological publications is presented.

The French voyage of exploration to New Holland (Australia) between 1800 and 1804, commanded by Nicolas Baudin (1754–1803), made substantial natural history collections, notably capturing dwarf emus from the two distinct populations on King Island (Île King) in Bass Strait (December 1802) and Kangaroo Island (Île Decrès) (January 1803). Two of these emus survived their voyage to France, were housed briefly at the Empress Josephine's menagerie at Malmaison, and then the zoological park of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. Both died in 1822. With the wild populations on both islands exterminated soon after Baudin's visit, two watercolours, one by Charles-Alexandre Lesueur (1778–1846) and one by Léon de Wailly ( fl. 1801–1824), have been central to the history of the dwarf emus. However, an important contemporary engraving by Nicolas Huet (1770–1830) depicting the two surviving emus in captivity has been overlooked. This essay explores the history of the images of the now extinct dwarf emus, as well as the production and significance of Huet's engraving.

W jednych tomach można znaleźć wiele szczegółowych przepisów liturgicznych, nigdzie niepublikowanych poza nimi komunikatów, rozporządzeń i krótkich listów do duchowieństwa.

Fourteen Hoplocampa species have been recorded in the West Palaearctic. We provide an illustrated key to these species, together with H. tadshikistanica, which is so far only known from Tadshikistan, but could occur in the West Palaearctic. The suitability of genetic sequencing for identification, particularly of larvae, is discussed. COI barcoding reliably distinguishes all European species which have been sampled (only H. phantoma lacks data), except for H. fulvicornis and H. minuta, which can be identified using nuclear sequences. Distributions in the Fennoscandian countries are outlined, with particular reference to Sweden. Hoplocampa chrysorrhoea is recorded for the first time in Scandinavia, from southern Sweden. Lectotypes are designated for twelve nominal taxa: Allantus ferrugineus Panzer, 1802, Hoplocampa chrysorrhoea var. nigrita Enslin, 1914, H. fabricii W. F. Kirby, 1882, H. oertzeni Konow, 1888, H. pectoralis Thomson, 1871, Hylotoma ferruginea Fabricius, 1804, Tenthredo alpina Zetterstedt, 1838, T. brevis Klug, 1816, T. chrysorrhoea Klug, 1816, T. crataegi Klug, 1816, T. plagiata Klug, 1816, and T. rutilicornis Klug, 1816. The article discusses the resignation of S. S. Uvarov from the post of trustee of the St. Petersburg educational district in 1821, a kind of fork in the history of the capital district, but also in the entire policy of education of the Alexander reign. Since the establishment of the Ministry of Spiritual Affairs and Public Education in 1817 and the appointment of a trustee of Emperor A. N. Golitsyn, the composition and mode of operation of the expert body of the MNP — the Main Board of Schools — has changed. In it, active exposing activities were launched by new members of M. L. Magnitsky and D. P. Runich, who became the mainstay of Golitsyn, in essence, his personal experts. S. S. Uvarov fought for several years with the “Golitsyn party” for the preservation of the principles of school and university reform, laid down in the legislation of 1802–1804. The confrontation within the MNP, which determined for a decade the fate of not only the metropolitan university, but also the general course in the management of education, unfolded between the “Magnitsky line” and the “Uvarov line” and began as early as 1817 on the issue of the “second category” of the Main Pedagogical Institute, in which Uvarov intended to concentrate the training of elementary school teachers using the Lancaster method. The confrontation turned into open forms in 1819 on the issue of closing the Kazan University. In the second half of 1819, Uvarov's opponents blocked a constructive discussion in the GPU and the adoption of a special charter for St. Petersburg University. In 1820, the confrontation between the two parties was aggravated by the history of the prohibition of the book of Professor A. P. Kunitsyn “Natural Law” and the exclusion of the subject itself from the program not only of St. Petersburg, but also of other universities. Then the Noble boarding school at St. Petersburg University became the object of denunciation, which led to personnel changes, a change in the mode of education and a tightening of disciplinary supervision. Based on archival and published sources, a chronicle of the dramatic events of the turn of the 1810s–1820s is presented, when, as a result of ideological sabotage, M. L. Magnitsky and D. P. Runich, there is a change in the vector in the policy of education in the direction of fighting the principles developed in 1802-1804: the autonomy of universities, the European orientation in scientific and personnel policy, the selectivity and softness of the class framework in the school system.

The object of this research is the process of institutionalization of statistical science in Russia in the early XIX century. The article examines the history of emergence within the structure of Russian universities of the corresponding departments and inclusion of statistical knowledge into lectures. The author analyzes the peculiarities of teaching statistical science in the Moscow, Kharkov, Kazan, and Saint Petersburg universities. Special attention is given to the activity of M. l. Magnitsky and D. P. Runich, which led to termination of the reputable scholars-statisticians from Kazan and Saint Petersburg universities. The research leans on the basic methods of historical science – problem-chronological for studying the time sequence of events; historical-genetic and historical comparative that allow studying the genesis and key stages of development of statistical education in the Russian universities. It is established that teaching statistics in form of political science initially appeared in the last third of the XVIII century in the Moscow University. Statistical courses were read upon personal initiative of the professors and were not established by the provisional “Project” of 1755. In their lectures, the first educators were guided by the experience of Göttingen University, which in the mid XVIII century became the center of the German school of political science. The university reform of 1802-1804 in Russia led to the creation of new system of higher education. In accordance with the norms of the Decrees of 1804, statistics was introduced into the curriculum of Russian universities for the first time. The article explores the key stages of organization of teaching statistics, such as unification of the content of lectures, publishing of course books, establishment of scientific schools.

The article discusses the assay marks of two goldsmiths from Gdańsk: Joachim Christian Franck (he held the assay office in 1778, 1782, 1784, 1788, 1794, 1798, 1802) and Johann Gottlieb Fischer (in office in 1792, 1796, 1800, 1804, 1808). In the previous literature, Franck was associated with the assay mark in the form of a capital letter ‘F’ in a negative. Fischer was assigned the assay mark in the form of a cursive capital letter ‘F’ in a rounded almost oval field. Based on the examination of several pieces of silver from Gdańsk (especially from the workshop of the goldsmith Carl Ludwig Meyer) marked with such marks, which also have historical inscriptions with annual dates, it can be concluded that the dates in the inscriptions and the assay marks do not coincide. The mark in the rounded field (previously assigned to Fischer) appears on silver items dated with an inscription to the years of Franck’s activity as the assay master and vice versa. Based on the examples of the items cited it can be concluded that the signs of the controllers Johann Gottlieb Fischer and Joachim Christian Franck were erroneously swapped and should be assigned the other way round.

Annotation:
Abstract The dialogue Bruno of 1802 is arguably the natural starting point for any investigation on the concepts of finitude, evil and human freedom in Schelling’s middle metaphysics. In this dialogue the author elaborates for the first time in his system a concept of freedom and independence of the finite, which extends via his reformulation in Philosophy and Religion of 1804 to the Freedom Essay of 1809 and beyond to the works of 1810 and 1811 – Stuttgart Private Lectures and The Ages of the World. The central ontological problem of the dialogue relates to the possibility of a separation between the absolute and the world as space of finite beings, which, according to the system of identity first presented in 1801, cannot exist as such. The question we will then address concerns the status of the finite as such and how would it be possible to admit both its existence for consciousness and the positing of an absolute and infinite principle of philosophy. We will show how Schelling’s interest shifts, almost unintentionally, from the infinite principle to the finite as such, as a principle of freedom and self-initiation independent of the real.

15 October 1830Fernand Toussaint (Meulebeke 1805 – Ixelles 1885), son of a French emigrant, was at first a civil servant under the Dutch regime. In September 1830 he fled to Brussels and played a not unimportant role in the Belgian Revolution. He became a member of the revolutionary republican club, La Réunion Centrale. This club was intensely preoccupied with the preparation of the new state institutions. Toussaint took part in these debates twice, on 15 and 30 October 1830.His republican opinions were most evident on 15 October, when he rejected the hereditary monarchy, the institution of the Senate, and the royal veto.On 15 October he defended the “Flemish language, at a moment when all the discussions took place in French”. According to him, laws and decrees should also be translated into Flemish. He was supported in this by Lucien Jottrand (1804-1877) of Walloon Brabant. Toussaint lead a press campaign about this. This matter came up during the proceedings of the National Congress (10 November 1830-21 July 1831). On 27 November 1830, an amendment from the representative from Oudenaarde, Charles Liedts (1802-1878), was approved. It stipulated that all laws and decrees should be provided with a Flemish translation, “in the municipalities where Flemish is spoken”. In this sense, Toussaint is a forerunner of the Ghent group around Philip Blommaert (1808-1871), the first “language zealots” in the Flemish Movement.

Indonesian cocoa products in international trade face challenges in quality, food safety, and environmental requirements. Developing the cocoa agro-industry is essential to meet those global demands. The research aims to analyze the competitiveness of business in Indonesian cocoa products using the Global Value Chain (GVC), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Trade Specialization Index (TSI) methodology. Research data uses the time series of Indonesian cocoa product export trade from 2001-2020. From a GVC perspective, the diversity of cocoa product exporters and the same competition drive a significant increase in competitiveness. Market access opportunities and regulatory support will encourage domestic industrial growth by utilizing efficient supply chains and making Indonesia part of the global production network. Cocoa products require economic value, from dry beans to ready-to-consume products. They are improving farmer’s bargaining position towards agro-industry institutions and better stakeholder coordination. The results of RCA show the comparative advantage of Indonesia cocoa exporters for HS code products 1801, 1802, 1803, 1804, and 1805 in the international market. The stages of identification of Indonesian cocoa products are the maturity stage for cocoa beans, the commercial maturity stage for cocoa paste and butter products, and the growth stage for cocoa product powder.
