Background and Objectives: Due to the development of methods for analyzing signals of autonomous blood circulation control, cardiovascular system disorders can be diagnosed today in the early stages. It is promising to use specialized devices for personalized diagnosis of the cardiovascular system and monitoring its state. Research on autonomous blood circulation control systems is a complex problem both from the point of view of physiology and radiophysics. Its solution requires the development of methods and specialized devices for the analysis and registration of signals from the cardiovascular system. Therefore the object of research is the development of a photoplethysmogram sensor with a digital communication channel with a band of 0.05-30 Hz, recording the signals from the autonomous blood circulation monitoring system. Materials and Methods: To compare the level of noise and nonlinear distortions in the center of the frequency range of interest to us (at a frequency of 0.1 Hz), the power spectra of the signals were analyzed, and the coherence function was also calculated. Results: a prototype of a device for recording and analyzing a photoplethysmogram signal was developed and implemented, which makes it possible to register the signals from the circuits of autonomous blood circulation regulation. A comparative analysis of the developed device with a serial analog sensor was carried out, which demonstrated the advantages of the developed device. Conclusion: The developed broadband digital sensor can be used in wearable devices to diagnose the functional state of the cardiovascular system based on the analysis of synchronization between the circuits of autonomous regulation of blood circulation.

The demand for greater performance of hearing instruments in smaller form factors continues to drive the need for miniaturization of microelectronic packages. This article reports how through-silicon-via (TSV) technology was used to shrink the size of a conventional digital signal process (DSP)-based system in package (SIP) used in the smallest in-the-ear hearing instruments. The conventional SIP is a heterogeneous multichip module containing a wire-bonded electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) die mounted atop a DSP flip-chip die along with 10 passive components built upon a high-density alumina substrate. The wire bonds of the conventional SIP, along with the extra space they require, are eliminated and replaced by TSV structures fabricated in the DSP integrated circuit (IC) wafer using the via-last method. A redistribution layer on the back side of the DSP IC enables direct attachment and electrical interconnection of the memory IC to the DSP IC. The result is a 23% smaller SIP with functionality demonstrated in hearing aid prototypes. This is believed to be the first demonstration of TSV in a heterogeneous hearing aid multichip module. This article describes the design approaches, materials, basic process steps, results, and challenges encountered in creating this novel TSV-SIP.

Recently, the use of smartphone ECG devices has been reported in humans and animals. Nevertheless, as the electrodes of these devices are inseparable, they can create only a precordial reading in veterinary species. Thus, although the smartphone ECG devices are considered valuable as a screening tool for the detection of some common arrhythmias, they are not always a reliable method for the measurement of the duration of the electrical deflections. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the feasibility of a novel smartphone ECG device, to report the readings obtained recorded simultaneously with a reference ECG system, and to compare the heart rate and duration of cardiac deflections obtained with the two methods. A total of 28 healthy mares of different breeds and age were included in this study and ECG recordings were obtained simultaneously with a reference ECG telemetry system with surface electrodes attached to the skin with alligator clips using a standard base-apex system and a smartphone ECG device with electrodes positioned alternatively with a standard and a modified base apex derivation. All the recordings obtained were considered acceptable for interpretation. An excellent agreement was found between the two methods for the evaluation of heart rate and polarity of cardiac deflections. No differences regarding number, duration and percentage of artifacts were found. This technology could become a valid diagnostic tool in the cardiological assessment of horses, in particular on the field.

While photographing in a wide range of brightness within the frame, the exposure devices must provide exposure control for each elementary area of the frame, i.e., provide local exposure control. Cameras which equipped by well-known exposure devices with local exposure control is used a multiplicative, additive or multifunction method of image recording. Using of the multiplicative method leads to energy losses in the optical channel, which requires correction of the exposure control parameters. Using of the additive method makes it possible to reduce the effective shutter speed, but reduces the contrast of small images. The multiplicative method of image registration allows to suppress low-informative low-frequency components of the spectrum of the input signal, providing less losses from the image blur according to the multiplicative method and less losses from reducing the contrast of images of small parts according to the additive method. Comparative evaluation of cameras’ effectiveness which are equipped by exposure devices with local exposure control, which are based on different methods of image registration, is convenient to assess the criterion of "resolution averaged over the frame field". According to the developed methodology of evaluating the effectiveness of this type of cameras, the averaged field resolution can be calculated in several ways, each of which assumes a preliminary calculation or obtaining the dependence of resolution from exposure (resolvometric characteristics of the camera). The methodology of experimental determination of the resolvometric characteristic of a photographic image recorder equipped by exposure devices of local exposure control is proposed. This methodology is illustrated by the example of measuring the resolvometric characteristics of the digital camera nex-6 for different external conditions. The good convergence of results of theoretical and experimental researches is shown. The proposed methodology can be used in studies of the impact of the process of the multifunction method of image recording on the photographing efficiency. As information and communication technology has permeated all aspects of life education cannot be considered an exception either. The schools of the 21st century require the use of the latest digital devices whose effectiveness is greatly determined by the motivation, ICT-related attitude, and the respective competences of teachers managing and directing the given teaching and learning process. Since P.E. also requires the use of information and communication devices it would be crucial that prospective teachers develop a positive attitude toward such equipment. The present research aims at exploring the attitudes of students applying to P.E. teacher programs at the Eszterházy Károly University toward such instruments and approaches. Additional research objectives include the exploration of potential correlation between the sex of the applicants and the respective attitudes. Our inquiry utilized the questionnaire method and the computer-based attitude scale was completed by a sample of 130 applicants in the 2016/2017 and the 2017/2018 academic years. Our research concluded that both men and women maintain a positive attitude toward the use of digital devices, or the tools of information and communication technology. Students representing both sexes consider the computer as a valuable learning device promoting the efficiency of the knowledge acquisition process. Furthermore, a significantly greater proportion of male respondents stated that they were capable of repairing computer problems emerging during use than that of their female counterparts. At the same time men are less apprehensive to use computers during instruction and this attitude appears to be an indispensable requirement for the application of ICT devices in class. The research can contribute to a deeper exploration of the given field along with performing a gap filling function as such examination has not yet been conducted among applicants to P.E. programs provided by higher education institutions in Hungary. Digital transceiver architectures offer the potential for achieving wireless hardware flexibility to frequency and modulation scheme for future-generation communications systems. Additionally, digital transmitters lend themselves to the use of switch-mode power amplifiers, which can have significantly higher efficiency than their linear counterparts. Two proposed architectures for realizing digital transmitters will be described in this work, both of which employ a hybrid combination of silicon integrated circuits (IC) and a power technology (e.g. GaN). This hybrid architecture takes advantage of the silicon to implement the high-complexity signal processing required for wireless communications, and uses power devices with high power density and low parasitic capacitance to sufficiently amplify the RF signals for transmission. Unfortunately, interfacing the low-power RF switching signals with off-chip high-power devices poses numerous design challenges, including: generation of integrated silicon power drivers with sufficient voltage swing for controlling power devices such as GaN, mitigation of on-chip current transients, wideband assembly interface from the silicon IC to the power device, and full system design verification using multiple process technologies. This work presents two CMOS driver architectures that can be used to interface low-power CMOS processing circuits with off-chip high-power devices. This work also details the performance limitations when assembling and interfacing multiple process technologies that are not co-located on the same IC. The main function of the driver circuitry within the digital transceiver system is to interface the low-power digital modulator to a large, high capacitance, off-chip power device. The driver must provide adequate transient current to charge/discharge the off-chip power devices' input capacitance through parasitic routing. Furthermore, the driver is designed to exhibit rise/fall times of less than 5% of the switching period and low jitter to meet RF signal quality requirements. Since silicon process technologies typically have much lower voltage breakdowns than those required to drive a power devie (e.g. GaN device), special driver architectures must be implemented to ensure the CMOS devices never exceed their breakdown voltages. Two architectures were implemented within this work to simultaneously achieve RF switching speeds and 5V signal swing from a 0.9V silicon CMOS process technology. The two architectures are: 1) a House-of-Cards configuration, and 2) a Cascode topology. These architectures will be detailed and compared with respect to performance in this presentation. Two of the most common techniques to assemble and connect a silicon IC, which includes the driver circuitry, and a (GaN) power device are: 1) direct wire bonding or flip-chip connection from the IC to the GaN, and 2) connection through a board or package interface circuit. Since most high-performance RF power devices such as GaN have negative threshold voltage, the driver (CMOS) IC must either: 1) have a supply and ground that are shifted to negative voltage values, or 2) decouple the IC's output from the GaN device's input in order to properly control the GaN. Off-chip decoupling is more easily implemented, but may limit maximum operating frequencies due to the added interface network and board/module parasitics. This work shall detail the interface models and compare the assembly procedures and potential performance limits when using both of these most common assembly techniques.

Sophisticated devices for remote-controlled medical interventions require an electrogenetic interface that uses digital electronic input to directly program cellular behavior. We present a cofactor-free bioelectronic interface that directly links wireless-powered electrical stimulation of human cells to either synthetic promoter–driven transgene expression or rapid secretion of constitutively expressed protein therapeutics from vesicular stores. Electrogenetic control was achieved by coupling ectopic expression of the L-type voltage-gated channel CaV1.2 and the inwardly rectifying potassium channel Kir2.1 to the desired output through endogenous calcium signaling. Focusing on type 1 diabetes, we engineered electrosensitive human β cells (Electroβ cells). Wireless electrical stimulation of Electroβ cells inside a custom-built bioelectronic device provided real-time control of vesicular insulin release; insulin levels peaked within 10 minutes. When subcutaneously implanted, this electrotriggered vesicular release system restored normoglycemia in type 1 diabetic mice.

A digital micromirror device (DMD) micromirrors periodic spatial structure is a measuring scale in interior orientation parameters calibration of optoelectronic devices problems, when using a DMD as a testobject. It is important that DMD micromirrors periodic spatial structure remains constant. Change in a DMD micromirrors spatial structure may occur due to heating. In addition to heating a DMD, an optoelectronic device photodetector is also subject to heating and, accordingly, change in its spatial structure. It is necessary to estimate change in a spatial structure of DMD micromirrors and an optoelectronic device photodetector.A DMD micromirrors spatial drift and a DMD micromirrors spatial drift together with a digital camera photodetector pixels spatial drift for operation 4 h are analyzed. The drift analysis consisted in the points array position assessing formed by a DMD and projected onto a digital camera. When analyzing only a DMD micromirrors drift, a digital camera was turned on only for shooting time for exclude digital camera influence. A digital camera did not have time to significantly heat up, during this time. After a digital camera it cooled to a room temperature.Average drift of all DMD micromirrors determines the accuracy of interior orientation parameters calibration of optoelectronic devices using a DMD in time. Maximum drift of all micromirrors after switching on is observed. Minimum DMD warm-up time is 60 min for average drift of all micromirrors less than 1 μm is necessary. Minimum DMD warm-up time is 120 min when using a DMD together with a digital camera is necessary.A DMD expansion uniformity determines the accuracy of interior orientation parameters calibration of optoelectronic devices using a DMD, because irregular expansion disturbs micromirrors periodicity. The average change in distance of neighboring points is less than 0.1 μm for every 20 min. Thus, a DMD can be used as a test-object in interior orientation parameters calibration of optoelectronic devices. The results can be used as compensation coefficients of change in DMD micromirrors spatial structure due to temperature effects during operation, if more accurate are necessary.

Digital societies come with a design paradox: On the one hand, technologies, such as Internet of Things, pervasive and ubiquitous systems, allow a distributed local intelligence in interconnected devices of our everyday life such as smart phones, smart thermostats, self-driving cars, etc. On the other hand, Big Data collection and storage is managed in a highly centralized fashion, resulting in privacy-intrusion, surveillance actions, discriminatory and segregation social phenomena. What is the difference between a distributed and a decentralized system design? How “decentralized” is the processing of our data nowadays? Does centralized design undermine autonomy? Can the level of decentralization in the implemented technologies influence ethical and social dimensions, such as social justice? Can decentralization convey sustainability? Are there parallelisms between the decentralization of digital technology and the decentralization of urban development?

The issue of digitalization of the economy is one of the most pressing at the moment. The purpose of this work is, firstly, an analytical review of the current support by the Government of the Russian Federation of the process of digital transformation of the domestic economy. The authors analyzed the performance of Russian state programs in the field of digitaliza-tion, which characterize the effectiveness of involving information and integrated systems in enterprises. Secondly, consideration of the concept of digital twins as a system that can reduce labor costs and increase the efficiency of technological processes. The study of this innovative technology-intensive technology is necessary in view of its indisputable ad-vantages such as qualitative changes in the methods of receiving and transmitting data and the reorganization of personnel activities through digitization. The innovation under consid-eration becomes a strong catalyst for the development of modern enterprises. The design of modern devices is constantly becoming more complicated, new firmware and new fea-tures are added. The application of the concept of digital doubles gives enterprises a very important strategic advantage: specialists in design departments can conduct a comprehen-sive analysis of operational data and use the results in the process of developing new prod-ucts. In this work, the authors conducted a study on the introduction of the concept of digital doubles by foreign enterprises. Also, three forecast blocks are developed in the article in the context of the prospect of introducing digital twins into the economic environment of the enterprise. This innovation will allow accurate forecasting for trouble-free maintenance, increase not only managerial, but also operational efficiency and, as a result, a significant reduction in the risks of human error. The aforementioned aspect is of particular importance in such a high-tech industry of the Russian industry as aviation.

The purpose of the research is to analyze pedagogical problems stemming from the emergence of a new “digital” generation in Russian educational organizations of various levels (secondary schools, universities), and search for possible solutions to these problems primarily aimed at reducing the negative impact of digital devices in students’ activities.Materials and research methods are based on a number of foreign publications in the field of pedagogy, psychology, neurophysiology, conducted in the USA, Great Britain, Singapore and other countries since the 2000s, as well as studies of the “digital” generation of Russia in the mid-2010s. This research applied a specially developed technique that enabled conducting a relative assessment of the impact of digital devices on the activities of various students’ groups of an educational system (secondary schools - university) in one of the major Russian regions. Results of the study conducted in 2018 in one university and several schools of various types in a region of the Russian Federation reveals that the ninth grade lyceum students show a noticeably lower degree of the effect of digital devices on their daily activities compared to the first-year students of the same university. A similar indicator of a ninth-grade students’ group of a comprehensive secondary school, on the contrary, is significantly higher when compared to that of the first-year university students. The author substantiates two main reasons that lead to this result: 1) a more optimal workload of learning and cognitive activity of lyceum students, which, as a result, significantly reduces their free time, that could be spent on entertainment/ communication; 2) better control from the parents of lyceum students.Conclusion. The article describes two pedagogical models that allow, according to the author, to reduce the negative impact of digital devices on the younger generation. The first model (demonstrated at the Singapore Institute of Education), aimed at encouraging students to use gadgets for educational purposes, suggests a number of pedagogical conditions, both artificial (organizational and technological) and natural (age restrictions). The second model, on the one hand, does not impose strict age restrictions, but, at the same time, requires an educational organization to implement the training system that would effectively motivate students to learning and cognitive activity (with or without gadgets) on school days.

Objective In the last decade, the use of digital devices among children has increased. This study examines the effects of parent–child interaction training on the amount of time children use digital devices, conflict and closeness in parent–child relationships, executive functions, and the electroencephalogram absolute power in children who excessively use the digital devices. Method The sample group consisted of 12 children (24 to 47 months) who spent more than half of their waking hours using digital devices. Parents were trained to intensive interaction with the child for two months. Electroencephalogram absolute power, parent–child interaction, the amount of time children use digital devices, and children’s executive function skills were assessed. Results Parent–child intensive interaction reduces the use of digital devices; decrease the conflicts and increase the closeness in parent–child relationships; decrease executive functioning problems; and increase the absolute power of alpha and alpha 2 (F3), beta 1 (F3), and beta and beta 2 (F3, Fp2). Conclusion These findings provide evidence of the negative effects of the excessive use of digital devices in children, the importance of parent–child interaction, and its positive impacts on cognitive and brain functions in children. It might contribute to better understand the importance of parent–child interaction in the early years.

Use of digital devices results in much higher health risks for children caused by greater visual and static loads, low physical activity, intensified intellectual activity, and psychological discomfort. The article focuses on results obtained in examining reasons why schoolchildren from the 1st, 5th, 9th, and 11th grade use various digital devices, how frequently they do it and for how long they use mobiles, PC, pads, or laptops. All schoolchildren use digital devices, most frequently, mobile phones and PC. Almost ¾ children in the 1st grade use a mobile phone; half of them, a PC, 1/3 use a pad; and each fifth schoolchild uses a laptop. Practically all 5th grade children use a mobile phone; two thirds, a PC; half of them, a laptop or a pad. Also practically all senior schoolchildren use a mobile phone; three quarters, a PC; one third, a laptop; pads are used much less frequently. A number of used digital devices per 1 person grows with age, from 1.8 for 1st grade children to 2.6 for 5th grade children and 2.3 for senior schoolchildren. Average duration of digital devices use per day also grows from 3 hours for 1st grade children to 8.1 hours for senior schoolchildren. Most schoolchildren tended to have diseases of the eye, namely refraction and accommodation disorders; accommodation disorders prevailed among 1st grade children, and myopia was more frequent among 5th grade children and senior schoolchildren. A number of children with myopia grows by 2.1 times during school years. Relative risk calculation revealed that if digital devices are in use for 6 hours or longer, it results in 1.8 times higher risks of myopia.
